I might be a hero to our small town, but to Mackenna Haven, I’m just the heartbreaker who left her behind.
She was my best friend…my first everything. But when duty called, I answered, leaving behind the only girl I ever loved. She refused to be a distraction that could cost me my life, so I let her cut me loose.
But I never forgot her. Or the marriage pact we made before I left.
Ten years is a long time to wait for a second chance. Long enough for everything to change—except the way I feel about her.
She might not be the same girl I left behind, but the chemistry between us hasn’t faded. Being forced into a one tent situation proves as much. The spark between us has turned into a wild fire I’m desperate to be consumed by.
But fear is holding her back…unsure of where she fits in my plans. I have to somehow prove to her she is the plan.
I’ve spent a decade fighting for my country, and now I’m ready to fight for her. Because I lost her once, and I’ll be damned if I lose her again.

Award-winning USA Today and Wall Street Journal bestselling author Brighton Walsh spent nearly a decade as a professional photographer before taking her storytelling in a different direction and reconnecting with her first love: writing. When she’s not lost in her own made up worlds, she’s probably either reading or shopping—maybe even both at once. She lives in the Midwest with her real life hero of a husband, her two kids—both taller than her—and her dog who thinks she’s a queen. Her boy-filled house is the setting for dirty socks galore, frequent dance parties (okay, so it's mostly her, by herself, while her children look on in horror), and more laughter than she thought possible. This books have been reworked from their previous releases and I am loving the binge read.
I love love love Mac and Hudson. They're both so competitive and know how to push each other's buttons. The history between them is something and I loved reading them figure things out.
Plot wise, it's everything you want in a second chance romance. There was definitely some push and pull, but understandably so and a good portion of it was them needing to have an open conversation about feeling and their future.
Overall, this was another great story from Brighton and I can't wait to start the next one.
**Huge thanks to Brighton for providing the arc free of charge**
This is another in the Havenbrook series which has been significantly edited/re-written and is being re-released.
Wholly enjoyed this book! Mac/Kenna and Hudson’s banter and interactions are fantastic, I love it. A true best friends with attraction to each other vibe. I love that they kind of have this rough-and-tumble competitive type thing going, it really gives the feeling of childhood/long term friends who have continued on and grown into adults, on top of all the small things mentioned (Hudson’s little gifts, IYKYK). It just makes it really fun too, I always like that kind of dynamic.
The small town vibes only increase in this next book in the series with the characters and inner drama workings of the town - I especially really enjoy hearing more from Edna, she’s a hoot.
There’s just a heart aching sweetness to Hudson and Mackenna. You immediately feel that they just fit together and are meant to be, but they’re not together and a lot of ‘life’ is in the way. It’s a second chance romance of sorts and has that sweet-sad feel to it that I absolutely adore. They were just so damn cute together, my heart was squeezing. Their ease and joking with each other was just ..ahh, everything!
There’s no denying the connection and relationship pretty early on in the book - and it works, it doesn’t feel off or quick or shallow - so I was very curious to see what story would unfold, what the conflicts would be, and it kept me turning pages. It’s a pretty low conflict/low drama story which makes it really smooth and pleasant to read. There’s Hudson in the military, only home temporarily after years away, and Mac working through her own demons (and Hudson working through a couple things of his own) but the two of them together is so solid and warm, so nice to sink into and read.
Really enjoyed this third book in the series and definitely recommend it, especially if you love a good childhood friends/best friends to lovers trope - add in small town and you’re golden!
4/5 ⭐️
I received an advance copy of the book and have left my honest, influence-free review
Man did I love this book. There was a ton of hesitation on her part and I got it fully. Childhood sweethearts finally financing their way back together. Lots of heat so much chemistry and a great storyline. I loved it.
ARC kindly provided for the author in exchange for an honest review
If Troublemaker is my new favorite book in the series, Mac & Hudson aremy favorite love story: I absolutely love reading a good friends-to-lovers story, and Brighton Walsh went one step further with Heartbreaker. I loved the friendship between these characters, learning what happened in their past that led to their estrangement, and reading them struggle with their feelings and fears once Hudson returns to Havenbrook. I also love reading how the Haven girls grow closer each time, and I really enjoyed that moment when all the characters in the series remember things from their childhood together: a true hug for the heart in difficult times.
Mackenna is a character that won me over with her personality from the first book, I LOVE her spontaneity, the way she ALWAYS says what she thinks and how she's there to support those she loves without thinking twice, that's why I didn't expect her fears and insecurities to be so strong, although they are situations that were very easy to identify with, so I wanted to hug this character and never let her go. Mac is a little lost in her own life and feels that all she has done is fail in her projects, she also feels unrecognized and unappreciated in her family and the fact that Hudson, her best friend, changed plans they had together left her heart broken, that's why it's very easy to understand Mac's reluctance to accept him back into her life and especially to open her heart to him again. I also really liked that Brighton showed us this character's adventurous, get-lost-in-nature side, especially with that tense moment toward the end of the book where Mac proves how smart she's and how indispensable his knowledge and ideas are to Havenbrook.
Hudson is an army pilot, Mac's best friend, the boy who has always been in love with her and who came back determined to show her how much he loves her. And boy, he does, because from the very first moment, we read that this character is the sweetest, giving us glimpses into his friendship with Mac over the years and also into his regrets and fears about deciding to honor his father's memory by following in his footsteps, something that makes it even harder for him to make decisions about what to do with his future. Another aspect I really enjoyed about this character was reading him alongside Caleb and his family, learning more about his past and motivations, as well as how important all these people are to him.
Mackenna and Hudson have been friends since they were little, always a constant in each other's lives and with their own way of communicating, until they both decided to act on their mutual attraction, and Hudson decided to keep secrets from Mac, and everything in their relationship became so complicated to the point of losing contact for almost 10 years. But Hudson returns unexpectedly, his only goal is to regain Mac's trust and convince her to give their love a chance. However, Mac is at a complicated point in her life, and it broke my heart to read her go through so many obstacles (mostly emotional and mental) in which it is impossible for her to realize how great she is and how much she is worth. Still, Hudson fights with all the resources at his disposal and gives me the most fun and adorable moments with her, being EVERYTHING she needs, mainly, her unconditional support, the person who believes in her the most and who sees her as she is.

We’re onto book three of the Havenbrook series about the four Haven sisters who live in small town Mississippi. This is Mac/Kenna’s story as her lifelong best friend and one time love, Hudson comes back into town and is ready to make good on the marriage pact they made 10 years ago. Each book in the series follows a different sister and stands completely alone from the rest. This has been reworked since it was originally published as Captain Heartbreaker in 2020 - although I didn’t read it in its original form - I understand the biggest change is that it’s now in first person.
Mac popped up in the previous two books about two of her sisters - and I liked her personality although we didn’t really get to know her in and out. This time we did and I still liked her, but now I felt that I had a lot in common with her, too. If you’ve ever felt yourself overlooked and under appreciated, you’ll also feel a kinship with Mac. She was competitive, fierce and fun - but it felt like she was a little lost.
Hudson is in the army and is back in his small town, on leave, for just a few weeks before he returns to active duty. And he’s determined to convince Kenna (which is what he calls Mac) to give them a chance while he’s back in town. I think that this was what bothered me most about Hudson. I felt he was quite selfish in his attempts to get Kenna to go back into a relationship with him - knowing it would be temporary and knowing that she was reluctant to get her heart broken again. Oh he was a good guy - and a soldier, to boot! - but I was just irritated about him on occasion.
Having been best friends since they were tiny, Hudson and Kenna definitely have chemistry. They have an ease when they’re with one another that shows they’re a perfect pairing - but there’s also that delicious snap of sexual chemistry which I always like to see. They know each other well enough that Hudson manages to show Kenna just how loved and appreciated she is - which is nice, but I’d have preferred her to show a little more gumption about her life.
The story is really about Hudson and Kenna getting reacquainted with each other after so many years apart. Hudson is clear about what he wants but Kenna is more reserved. Hudson broke her heart before and since she knows he’ll leave again for the army - she’s got her walls built sky high. Over the course of the book, Kenna finds confidence in herself and in her relationship with Hudson - while Hudson realises that what he’s been chasing his whole life might just be the thing he walked away from all those years ago.
This book was written in Brighton Walsh’s eminent style and as always, she builds life in the small town of Havenbrook, Mississippi, in a way that makes me want to live there with its cast of interesting characters. I didn’t feel the story was as gripping as I did the first in the series (Charmer) - but I still loved seeing another of the Haven sisters finally get her man. 4 stars but still an enjoyable and likeable small town, second chance romance.
Mackenna gets her story in “Heartbreaker”, the third book in the Havenbrook series. This story is a military romance, best friends to lovers, second chance, and all the feels.
Mackenna has always felt like she lived in the shadows of her sisters. When her childhood best friend, Hudson, comes back after 10 long years of service, a glimpse of a future she once dreamed of is back within reach. These two have a history of friendship first, exploring each other as teenagers, and a crack in both their hearts when Hudson left for the service and Mackenna wouldn’t offer him a promise of a relationship.
Hudson and Mackenna have such great banter and a true friendship; Brighton has written their connection full of history, longing and love. They certainly haven’t lost any of that after being apart for so long. They have a deep-rooted, palpable energy that overrides time and space, which is evident the first time they lay eyes on each other. This story features another golden retriever MMC and a stubborn, independent FMC. I love this dynamic!
These two go through a wide range of emotions in pursuit of a possibility for their future. They are under a time constraint, he’s only home for a few weeks and she has a busy and full live as a Haven family member. The frustration these two go through made this HEA hard won and well worth the emotional rollercoaster. My favorite scenes were their lighthearted moments, their love for each other is so genuine and honest. And I love when the MMC is utterly smitten with his lady. Hudson only sees Kenna in his life and my gosh does he work for it.
What do you do when the one person who truly knows you- mind, body and soul, who has been gone for the past decade serving his country… returns prior to the agreed upon timeline and throws your whole world off kilter?
Hudson and Mac (Kenna to Hudson) have been best friends for the better part of two decades- yet Hudson left suddenly years ago to enlist in the military, leaving Mac behind to figure her life out without him by her side.
Mac has always felt like the odd man out amongst her sisters and family. She believes that she is the only sister that doesn’t have her “life together” so to speak and she feels like she is the forgotten last resort to her family. Hudson’s return to Havenbrook has them both revisiting the past and the what ifs. Hudson is ready and willing to give their relationship a shot, even when he returns to duty, however Mac isn’t sure if they can handle the stress and distance. When family issues arise that make it necessary for someone to take over as interim mayor of Havenbrook, Mac offers herself up, feeling as though not one of her family members believed in her enough to consider her for the role. As she throws herself into the role, Hudson works hard to prove to Mac that he believes in her and how well they could be together. Hudson is determined to break down Mac’s walls and get everything he ever wanted in the process, while Mac is desperate to prove herself to her family and the towns people. Will his reassurances be enough for them to weather the storm or will they be destined to live with the what ifs and their regrets?
Honourable mention to CB the dog and Edna the postal lady- both provided so many laughs.
Book 3. New cover, title, revised content, now in first person dual POV. Even better!
I’ve got to admit the Haven girls own my heart. And now? Heartbreaker. Book 3. New cover, title, revised content, now in first person dual POV. Even better!
I adore all the sisters and look forward to each book but THIS ONE is absolutely stole my heart! M Do Hudson and MacKenna steal your heart from the very beginning. He wants to do his duty in the military and she’s trying to find her purpose in life. Talk about a couple to root for! They were best friends in high school until she left for college and he didn’t follow her as planned. Instead, Hudson went into the military and in turn, broke Mac’s heart. Now he’s back in Havenbrook - temporarily on leave - can they move past the hurt and rekindle everything? Even if they have to wage a bet? Yep. That’s what they do. Place bets. And many times that has them in bed. Together.
Hudson struggling with staying in the army, following his dad’s footsteps, or returning home to Havenbrook is heartwarming. He truly loves Mac. Then there’s Mac, stepping in to help the family and winding up becoming an integral part of Havenbrook, it’s, well, adorably satisfying. Yep. My favorite read in this series.
Brighton’s writing always captures you and in these stories centered in the town of Havenbrook, you can actually picture the town. And. You want to visit! Or maybe move there and find your own Finn, Nash, or Captain Hudson Miller.
Happily recommend this book and all of the Havenbrook stories.
Every book in this series “Havenbrook” by @brightonwalsh is absolutely a 5 star read. Complete with romance, rowdiness, and southern charm, this series has everything you look for in a small down romance. Charmer: Will and Finn’s story. I love a second chance romance and this one was perfect. The doubt snd fear at starting new felt incredibly real, and Will’s personal struggles with finding balance in her life were so relatable on a romantic and personal level. Absolutely loved! Trouble Maker: Rory and Nash’s story. Going in I knew, I was going to love Rory. As an oldest daughter myself, I completely relayed to the pressure she felt growing up. I loved Nash’s carefree attitude and how it helped Rory to open up and love herself. Adored! Heart Breaker: Mac and Hudson’s story. As a wild child, outdoors lover, Mac spoke to me. I remember doing tons of the same things she did while I was growing up, and reading it filled me with feelings of nostalgia and joy. Hudson’s relentless devotion to her, every part of her, made me swoon immediately. 10/10. Faker: Nat and Asher’s story. Nat is the sister I felt through the rest of the series that I would be the least similar to, but I was wrong. So many parts of her story, where she traversed learning new roles and abilities within the family she chose, spoke to me in ways I’m just learning myself and a hopeful mom-to-be. I can’t wait to experience those things myself in real life, puke and all. Overall series, HIGHLY recommend. You get a little bit of everything with these characters, you won’t be disappointed
Hudson has been gone for 10 years, having left Mac with a broken heart. When he left, she completely lost who she was and after failing out of college, returned home. She has no career, no true calling and works as a bartender to get a paycheck. It looks like she is just doing the bare minimum to get by and her family basically treats her that way. When Hudson returns for a few weeks, his goal is to beg, plead, and pray that she will give him a chance at a true relationship with him, even if he is miles away.
It was heartbreaking to read about this beautiful woman who just didn't even see and realize her own self worth. That was the greatest journey in this story. She had always tied herself to Hudson and when ge wasn't there anymore, she struggled to find herself. Her family struggled to see her worth, especially her father who thought she was "flitting" through life. The biggest lesson was a heroine who needed to learn how to love herself because she is worth it. And having a man who loved her through that moment made their future sacrifices worth even more. For both of them, it painted a much clearer image of what they each were meant to be apart from each other and it ultimately showed them what they are meant to he as a team together.
💔✨ Heartbreaker by Brighton Walsh is the kind of romance that steals your breath, tugs at your heart, and leaves you completely OBSESSED! From the first page, I was hooked—this story delivers angst, undeniable chemistry, and ALL the feels.
The tension between the characters? Off the charts. The slow burn? Torturously perfect. And when the emotions hit? They hit hard. Brighton Walsh has this incredible way of making you feel everything—the longing, the hesitation, the magnetic pull that refuses to be ignored. It’s the kind of romance that makes your heart ache in the best way because you just know these two belong together.
Beyond the sizzling attraction, Heartbreaker is about second chances, taking risks, and the kind of love that refuses to fade—no matter how much time has passed. It’s raw, beautifully written, and packed with the kind of emotional depth that makes the HEA so incredibly satisfying.
💫 If you love a romance that’s equal parts steamy, angsty, and deeply emotional, Heartbreaker is an absolute must-read. It’s the kind of book that lingers in your heart long after you turn the last page!
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Unforgettable, passionate, and brimming with heart—this book is EVERYTHING!
I'm so invested in the friends, family and couples of Havenbrook. I don't know what I'm going to so with myself after I finish the last book. Mac and Hudson are hands down my favorite couple of the series. These two had so much love between them and it was written so beautifully that my heart both broke for all the years they missed out on, and rejoiced that they finally got their HEA. No matter the years between them, they never stopped loving each other.
My heart absolutely broke for Mac that she didn't see herself the way everyone else did. She was such a rock for her friends and family, and the town, but it took Hudson coming home for her to really start seeing her worth and making sure everyone else did as well. The way that man loved and supported her was breathtaking.
Their slow burn reconnection was absolutely perfect for them, but when they did reconnect intimately...the biggest fireworks in the sky. Their chemistry was explosive and I loved it. Hudson wasn't letting her get away again and he proved it in all the big and small ways.
I can't recommend this book and the series enough. I don't ever want to leave Havenbrook.
It’s a friends-to-lovers, second-chance love fest for Mac and Hudson and I was so there for their reconnection. First, I love it when the guy has to work to get the girl and boy, does Hudson work. He makes pies and plans romantic rendezvous and he is all in on making Mac realize they can make their relationship work. From the first moment they’re together, I could feel the pull between these two friends with a lovers background, just as much as I could feel Mac’s reluctance to put herself out there to be hurt again. The tension, the banter and the spice are top tier and I was fully sucked into their love story. There were a few moments where the plot felt a little bumpy, but nothing that made me crazy. Their love felt inevitable, and I was kinda obsessed.
Right before high school graduation, Hudson and Mackenzie (Mac) fall into each other arms after years of being best friends, only for him to leave and follow a career in the military. Now, he’s home to lend a hand to his sister as she renovates her bakery and he can’t help but be drawn to the woman he’s always held above all others. Mac’s hesitant to put her heart back out there, especially since she knows he’s leaving in a few weeks, but she can’t resist the pull that exists between them. Hudson’s support of her dreams and his unfaltering belief in her ability to achieve them also spur Mac to let herself take the lead in a career she’s been hiding from her family. Bolstered by his support and her confidence in herself, Mac and Hudson finally fall into the love they both deserve. 4 stars. 2 pepper.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I was given this ARC in exchange for my honest review :) Ok, I really didn’t think that Nash could be topped! But holy hell welcome Hudson! Up to this point I wasn’t really too excited about Nat’s book. She is a great character but in the other books she’s in she was just a bit uninteresting for me. But boy did I eat my words! When her best friend returns from SERVING HIS COUNRTY, they are at each other like rabbits! And I don’t blame them in the slightest! The two of them are childish and hilarious and so freeing to read about I will say I feel like Nat didn’t make Hurston grovel near enough as she should have! The way this couple were spoke about in the past was a very touchy topic and Nat really wasn’t happy with him, however when he came back they were instantly back to their gaming ways, I just feel like Hudson had a lot of apologising to do Over all, I think Nat and Hudson are my fave couple of the series so far! Who doesn’t love a strong independent fmc and a military man who worships the ground she walks on?!
Mac and Hudson are childhood friends who never turn down a chance to challenge each other with a bet. Hudson is military and back in town after years away but he’s only back for a short time. Mac feels stuck in her life and is plagued with self doubt. She believes she hasn’t accomplished anything while Hudson has been defending the country. Can they work around their jobs and doubts to make a relationship work??
Some of my favorite things in this one: 💜friends to lovers 👨🍳a man who knows how to bake 👵hilarious older characters in Edna and Gran 🏡fall in a small town setting 🐶cute dog moments 🌶️spicy scenes 💔heartbreaking but ultimately healing family moments ❤️🩹
This book was so good and I loved every second of it. It brought romance and plot with writing that kept me glued to the page.
Hudson is Mackenna’s very own Captain America, her hiking partner, her childhood best friend and the one she has always loved. When he finally returns to Havenbrook, they reconnect as if he has never left, but deep down she remains fearful that she will be heartbroken again when he leaves for his next deployment.
I loved those bets they make and their hiking/camping trip was so fun. It helps too that they stumbled upon CB, which is a horrific (but apt) name indeed lol. While Mackenna has her own fears and doubts to overcome, Hudson also has his own goals in life to evaluate.
Seeing Mackenna taking charge in the last act and finally getting the appreciation she deserves was so satisfying. Each of us may not take the same path in life but that doesn’t mean we are worth less. Thanks for the reminder; and the ending was just perfect for our friends to lovers couple!
Kenna and Hudson were absolutely perfect to me. I didn't anticipate them falling back so fast considering he left, but I also miscalculated the best friend aspect and how they had kept in touch a tiny bit which helped bridge the gap. I loved their story, the struggle, the way they are so natural with each other. Made me wish I had a best friend to lover and that's not always my favorite trope so that's saying something haha. I loved how she showed up and overcame by taking charge at the end of this. I'll keep saying it - the way they just overlook the dad's toxicity is wild but he had a humbling in this book so maybe? But he will never be my favorite character. When Hudson shows back up at the cabin? The best moment.

This is a favorite for me in this series. Mac and Hudson’s second chance romance showed how being with the right person can give you the support and confidence to jumpstart your life again. Mac’s had to deal with finding her own path in life, especially when someone she thought would be there forever left from her life. I like that she has the strength to make changes, even though it was difficult to find her footing the first time. Hudson’s return showed him as someone who’s loyal and loving towards Mac, but also consistently growing as he struggles to establish himself from his father’s own life. I like that this couple had a lot of challenges, but had their friendship to fall back on. This was a good one.
Thoroughly enjoyed this return to Havenbrook! I have liked Mackenna from her first appearance and was very much looking forward to her story. She is smart, fierce, protective, loyal and just puts her head down and gets things done when needed. She is a complex character with many layers and it was interesting to see how Hudson played a part in her foundation and subsequent fractures. The chemistry between the two is off the charts and having a front row seat to them getting acquainted with the “now” versions of each other was a treat. The support of friends and family arrives in the form of laughter, love and moments of hilarity as well as the need to strangle someone sometimes. The journey to Mackenna’s happy ever after was all I hoped it would be.
I have been looking forward to returning to Havenbrook and getting Hudson and Mac's story. That book told their story at the time when they were about to go to college together until Hudson changed plans. Now years have passed and Hudson has returned home.
The author did a wonderful job capturing the chemistry between them that never died and the challenges and frustrations they will have to overcome. Though they were best friends when they were younger, they now have to get to know each other as adults.
It was easy to love these characters and I was so happy with the conclusion to their story!
Thank you to the author for providing an ARC for an honest review.
I have gotten so lost in this small town romance series. Each book just gets better than the last. This is book three and it’s Mac and Hudson’s story. These two were so great. They were so competitive it made for such fun banter and such cute moments. Mac and Hudson are life long bffs who find a second chance at love when Hudson comes home on leave from the army and goes for the girl. Throw in a marriage pact and you have a recipe for this one. I love how light hearted these stories feel even though they cover some serious subject matter. Walsh has a knack for small town romance. I can’t wait to see how this one ends. And I am hoping for some spin offs of other characters.
Heartbreaker is the third book in the Havenbrook series!! I absolutely loved the friends to enemies to lovers along with the marriage pact! Brighton Walsh creates some amazing stories and knows how to follow them through the entire book!!
Mackenna and Hudson were best friends and first everything. When Hudson gets called for duty he has to leave her behind. Ten years later Hudson is back and ready to beg for that second chance. Hoping that these feelings have not changed between them. Mackenna still has that spark with Hudson, but doesn't know how she fits into his plans. Now he just has to prove to her that she is his one and only plan.
“Heartbreaker” is a heartfelt, second‑chance romance that delivers all the feels. Mackenna and Hudson’s childhood friendship—turned first love—gets rekindled after a ten‑year separation when duty called. Their chemistry is sizzling, the emotions are raw, and the small‑town setting of Havenbrook feels like stepping into a warm hug. In just the right blend of heartfelt moments and steamy chemistry, Mackenna’s journey of self-discovery and Hudson’s unwavering devotion make this book a standout. Whether you’re a fan of military heroes, cozy small‑town vibes, or friends‑to‑lovers tropes, Heartbreaker delivers with warmth, passion, and emotional payoff.
Heartbreaker was such an enjoyable read. I loved Mac and Hudson's journey. It was sexy, sweet, steamy and a bit angsty. I loved the connection between them and the fact that distance didn't quell it, it stood the test of time from childhood to adulthood. I loved catching up with previous couples and getting insight into the next book in this series. I'm loving my reread of the revised editions of this series. I'm loving being back in Havenbrook with its characters and quirks.
Alright these two are definitely my favorite of the series thus far, and honestly, I doubt Nat is going to pull out in front so I feel confident saying favorite of the series.
Hudson comes home on leave, unexpectedly, after 10 years in the army and immediately you can tell he and Mac have some unfinished business to work through. And years of chemistry and, most importantly, a foundation as childhood best friends, to back them up. Their chemistry is off the charts and it’s soooo believable they immediately fall back into it.
Unfortunately, Mac is struggling with how to have Hudson and still be enough and Hudson is working through some things of his own, but how much he wants Mac is never a question. How much love they have for each other is never questioned and how much WORK they’ll have to do to avoid a massive heartache, that’s the question. Also, I’m just curious where the marriage pact was here? I definitely thought they were going to get married?!? But I’m guessing that was if they weren’t together by his birthday.
There was some additional small town drama and of course the side characters from before were present, and more popped up, but overall there was very little conflict and very little miscommunication (probably why I love them together).
Can’t wait for the final book!!
*An extra special thanks to Brighton and her team for sending me an ARC in exchange for an honest review*
I think this is my new favorite of the series! I loved Hudson's energy and how willing he was to show Mac how much he wanted them to be together!
Mac was definitely one of the more independent FMCs. She gave so much of herself to everyone else, without realizing how awesome she was, and I loved seeing her start to recognize that.
The sister dynamic just gets better and better. I love the banter between the group! It is one of my favorite parts of the book and series.
Did anyone else want to smack Kenna around? Cause I did. Her self doubt was pretty much unfounded and she was kind of a masochist because she was intentionally keeping herself from Hudson because a relationship would be too “hard”. Girl. All relationships are hard, even when you live with them.
To be honest, this is the first book in their series I have read all the way through. The first two I started, got to 50% in, and then skimmed. I like the town and characters but it never seems enough.
This is a reread for me. Love the entire series. Updates and all. Mac's turn. Mac and Huda5have been friends forever. When he left for the army, it destroyed her. Mac has always felt underappreciated by family, but when a family emergency happens, she's become the one in charge. Hudson returns home for a bit of a breather. They rekindle friendship and more.

⭐ 5/5
Mac and Hudson
The story follows Mac and Hudson and is a really entertaining romance. They were best friends once who grew into something more. Only for him to leave for the military. When he is home after years away and both interact with each other it is hard to miss how perfect they would be for each other. But time and experience had left them each with issues. They only have a little time before Hudson has to leave again. But he only ever saw Mac in his life even if she wouldn’t promise him something back then. But now she has a business to run, and so their story is very emotional in every way. But they have a hard fought happy end. And a well deserved one.
I loved this book. 😍😍 Mac and Hudson were perfection…👏🏻. I loved that they hadn’t seen each other in a long time but picked right back up where they left off. These two just absolutely belonged together. And Mac, she may be my favorite FMC of this series! I just love her and can relate to her on so many levels.
