A scorching hot, hockey, forbidden, billionaire romance from USA Today best-selling author Marni Mann
I’m not the calm before the storm. I am the storm. And only she can tame my wild
ways.
Hockey is my religion.
My body is my temple.
My only goal in life is to win another Stanley Cup with the Los Angeles Whales, so women are just a sexy distraction.
Until her.
The fiery redhead I see across the bar while I’m at an away game.
With one look, I know I have to meet her.
With one touch, I need her beneath me.
With one bat of her long lashes, I want those eyes gazing up at me as she kneels before me.
And with booze flowing through my veins, I do something I’ve never done. I offer her a proposition—to spend a long weekend with me.
What is only supposed to be three nights of sizzling passion turns into much more, and when I leave for my next away game, I find myself wanting her in ways I’ve never felt.
She’s a young heart with an old soul.
My dream woman in every way.
The only thing I’ve ever encountered that my family name, talent and money can’t attain.
But there’s too much distance between us, and I realize that maybe we just aren’t meant to be.
Until a chance meeting skates us right back together and our time is suddenly now.
Except all of that changes when I learn the truth …
She’s forbidden, untouchable, and off-limits.
With my heart on the line, can I score the most crucial goal of my life, or will she realize that being with the wildest one isn’t worth the sacrifices she’ll have to make?
USA Today Bestselling author Marni Mann knew she was going to be a writer since middle school. A New Englander at heart, she now lives in Sarasota, Florida, with her husband and their Yellow Lab. When she’s not nose deep in her laptop, working on her next novel, she’s scouring for chocolate, sipping wine, traveling, or devouring fabulous books.

Jolie & Beck first meet at a bar when she is 20 and he is 27. They spend 3 fabulous days together, but then they part ways because they live in 2 totally different worlds. She's a college student in Boston and he plays in the NHL for a LA team.
I can't say I loved her being 20 because that's still pretty young, but she seemed pretty mature for her age and most of the book takes place after she graduates. I really liked her, and she was quite the bad ass at her career. Also, her friendship with Ginger was bff goals.
Flash forward a few years and they see each other again in LA. Is it fate that brought them together again, or something that's going to throw a wrench in their attraction for each other?
Alpha~malpha to the max with this guy, and I didn't hate it. He, also, had so many sweet moments. Gah, loved him.
Overall, another sizzling and exciting (hello ice rink) read from this author. The next book doesn't come out until June 2026 😱 and I'll be patiently waiting for Walker's story.
Narration notes: A great job by both.
Series notes: A series that follows siblings, so best to read in order so that you know who's the who and what's the what. But I suppose not absolutely necessary.
All hail to my fairy smut mother, Miss Marni Mann. Like I just know every time I pick up a Marni Mann book, it will always be a banger. She never misses. She writes the perfect billionaire man obsessed alpha hero. So yes, Marni will continue to hold the reigning title as my fairy smut mother until further notice.
So what can you expect from Marni? You can almost guarantee that her books will start off with a soon to be reformed playboy who locks eyes with a woman who will bring them down to their knees. But that's not it, nope. You can also expect a one night stand in within the first 10%. But The Wildest One, doesn't just have a one night stand... it has a THREE NIGHT STAND which 👩🍳💋 pure perfection. Like what more do you want?
Beck Weston... the man that you are. This man has me gagged, on my knees and cooked. I love everything about this man. And I will now be identifying as a Jolie until further notice. These two are the definition of right person, wrong time. At the beginning of the book, these two fell hard after a three night stand while Beck was playing in Boston, but they were in two different phases in life. Beck, who is always on the road playing hockey and then you have Jolie, who was still in college. In fact their age gap was the reason for their two different phases in life. But their longing for one another made me feral.
Their relationship was 3 years in the making. Like can you imagine wanting someone so badly but not being able to be together. Only to FINALLY be in the SAME CITY and you find out she is now YOUR BOSS! Ugh the tension and forbidden vibes, I ate it up. Jolie tried so hard to dodge Beck's advances until he broke her down and she was the one to say F-k it. It was honestly perfect!
There really are no other notes. This one was just pure perfection! Marni's books are always a good time and if you haven't read one of her books yet, what are you waiting for?
You should most definitely read this book if you like: - Billionaire Romance - Hockey Player MMC - THREE Night Stand - Second Chance - Workplace - Forbidden - Secret Relationship - Right Person, Wrong Time - Age Gap - Alpha Hero
* I would like to say a HUGE THANK YOU to Marni Mann and Valentine PR for allowing me the pleasure to read The Wildest One as an ARC in exchange for my honest thoughts, opinions and review.
does anyone have any safety details this is all i could find and its not looking good lmao
she was celibate as we expected
“I haven’t been with anyone since you.”
Her words hit.
And then they slashed across me again.
“Jolie, it’s been two years and nine months.” A number that had been reconfirmed when she said it at the club.
“I know.”
“Why did you wait?”
She shook her head. “Anyone I met … they weren’t you. And I just got this feeling that if I let them in, they wouldn’t treat me the way you had, so I didn’t let them in. I didn’t even let anyone get close.”

I knew I loved Marni Mann’s writing, but now I’m officially obsessed. After reading and loving The Arrogant One I was so excited to read about Beck. He is the star hockey player for the LA Whales and Jolie is a sophomore in college from Boston. They meet at a bar when he is out with his team mates celebrating a win. They spend the next three days together exploring each other and the city. The instant attraction becomes obsession that have them wishing things were different. They keep in touch for a time, but don’t see each other again for 2 years and 9 months. Things are different but the attraction and connection is still there. Now, we have a will they/won’t they dynamic creating delicious tension and has Beck giving his best flirting game. Jolie fights their connection but when she gives in, oh boy, it is good. Their connection and the way they fit perfectly together was beautiful. Their romance is beautifully written and had me turning the pages into the late hours of the night. I live for hockey romances and Marni Mann knows how to write one heck of a story with fully developed characters, engaging plot, and spice that you will eat up. As a Chicago Blackhawks fan, I’m willing to overlook you being a Florida fan.
Thank you to Marni Mann and Valentine PR for the ARC.

A Few Favorite Quotes:
“There was only one thing that smelled as good as 🐱, and that was the scent of victory.”
“I want to f*k the Boston off you.”
“He hugged his arms around me. I was in a Beck bubble, and suddenly, I couldn’t feel even the slightest breeze despite my hair flying all around us.”
“I’m going to walk you to my car right now. I’m going to take you home with me. I’m going to lick every inch of your body, and I’m going to make you come all fking night long.”
This was my first book by this author, and I loved it! The chemistry between Beck and Jolie is electric right from the start. When Beck first spots Jolie at a bar, sparks fly, and he immediately knows he wants to be with her. They end up spending three incredible days together, feeling that what they have is truly special. The catch? Beck lives in LA while Jolie is a university student in Boston. They know they can’t be together for now, so they part ways, but it's bittersweet.
Even after returning to LA, they continue to stay in touch. However, it seems like the universe is determined to keep them apart. Every time they try to meet, something gets in the way. After years of keeping the connection alive, they suddenly stop talking. That is, until they unexpectedly run into each other at a club. But of course, circumstances still seem to be against them.
What struck me was how, even after nearly three years apart, their chemistry is still just as strong as the first time they met. I loved Beck's determination when it came to Jolie. He knows the situation is against them, and even though Jolie tries to push him away, he keeps pursuing her. He’s always showing her that what they have is special, and he wants her to be his. However, he is also respecting her, allowing her to take the next step first. I also loved how he’s a popular hockey player without falling into the playboy stereotype, and I enjoyed discovering more about his relationships with his siblings throughout the story.
The spice in this book is off-the-charts amazing! I couldn't stop thinking about the scene in the ice rink. The text messages Beck and Jolie share during their time apart added depth to their connection and kept me cheering for their happiness. Overall, this was such a fun read filled with longing, tension, humor, and swoon-worthy moments, plus a great family vibe. I can’t wait to read the next book in this series!
I was sooooo excited for Beck's story and I absolutely loved him and Jolie! Beck was the perfect combination of rich, hot, hockey captain with all the charm, but none of the playboy jerkish attitude. He saw Jolie and her striking red hair from across the and knew he needed to talk to her. They then proceeded to have the hottest three day weekend together exploring the city and each other in the bedroom.
Sadly, they were in two completely different points in their lives, Beck with all his hockey travels and demands and Jolie with work and college. Their paths don't cross again until almost three years later. I loved the snippets of texting they shared and I was rooting for them so hard. I can't believe Beck didn't know the difference between a green vs blue text bubble!! The will they or won't they combined with for forbidden love aspect had me on the edge of my figurative seat the whole time. Beck was a man that knew what he want and he was determined to break down Jolie's walls and win her over once and for all.
Everything about this book was 1000/10 from page one. Beck has earned his spot as one of my favorites of Marni's men. I can't get enough of him and Jolie together. I can't wait to see how they pop up in the rest of the series and I can't wait to continue on with the Weston family siblings. 1000/10 I can't recommend this book enough.
This book has the WORST first chapters I've ever read in MY LIFE!!! THE ABSOLUTE WORST! But I kept reading because 1. It is Marni Mann, and 2. I never DNF a book. I had so much hope for Beck's love story, and it was cute in the end, but the drama was stupid and their love was nothing in comparison to the previous books. They just didn't have what it takes to be a leading couple in a story, you know? They could perfectly be just side characters because the book was 30 chapters too long, so it was such a waste of time, to be honest. Oh, and the "ice sex" scene... WT actual F????
3 days. Just 3 days. LA Whales hockey star Beck Weston and college student Jolie meet in a Boston bar and he’s immediately drawn to her. She’s younger than he thought but has a maturity that’s endearing even though she’s a true Boston hockey fan and Beck’s team just annihilated Boston. He asks her to spend the weekend with him. She’s going to show him all of her favorite Boston spots. He’s determined to rock her world in his hotel suite. And in true Marni Mann erotic romance fashion, Beck and Jolie burn up many of the pages in this story. Many.
But that weekend in Boston wasn’t enough. Thru miscommunication they don’t text or see each other for a long time. . . and now Jolie has graduated and is working full time for her father. But. . .complications arise and a new professional situation develops making it impossible for them to have any kind of personal relationship. Or does it? I always love Marni giving us a surprise plot twist. She doesn’t fail to do so here.
Beck is another Weston man to love. He may be a hockey star but he’s one determined man too. He wants Jolie and you can’t help but root for him, enjoy all his flirty ways, his dirty mouth, and his “never give up on her” attitude even though Jolie is off limits. Talk about swoon worthy. Whew. Beck brings all the heat. And his family supporting him from the sidelines? Love them all.
Jolie is as smart young woman, determined to make her dad proud even if it means giving up on the man of her dreams. But she’s not invincible to Beck’s charms -what woman could be! I really enjoyed her growth and maturity, her conflicting emotions, her love for the hockey captain she doesn’t think she can have, her inner strength and newfound confidence.
I loved being in Marni Mann’s hockey world. A bit of a departure from the Weston family of restaurants and nightclubs from book 1 in this series, but Marni still includes that storyline, especially with the room service “date” Beck plans for Jolie. And when Beck and his hockey team provide all the wonderful drama and fun, well I just couldn’t get enough.
Which brings us to the conclusion of this forbidden sports romance love story. Beck may be a hockey God but he’s every woman’s dream man too and the resolution, the HEA to 𝓣𝓱𝓮 𝓦𝓲𝓵𝓭𝓮𝓼𝓽 𝓞𝓷𝓮 is wild indeed. And absolutely everything.
Marni is one of my favorite authors, and I always adore sports romances, so I was quite excited to read this book. Beck Weston is the captain of the Los Angeles Whalers professional hockey team. They immediately click after he spots Jolie in a packed bar during an away game in Philadelphia. I really enjoyed watching Beck connect with his family once more, and I really enjoyed these two characters together. Jolie and Beck have a playful yet mature relationship despite their age difference, particularly after her secret is discovered. Jolie and Beck were the ideal pair. I am really excited to see what comes next!
Thank you so much to Marni Mann and Valentine PR for the e-arc.
“The whole reason you brought me here is because you know I’m positively wild about the wildest one.”
Marni Mann, the queen of spice, has entered her hockey era, and I hope she stays there for a bit. She introduced us to her classic alpha-hole billionaire with a side hockey player and a ton of angst. I’m here for it.
Beck Weston met Jolie at a bar in Boston. He asked her back to spend the next scorching three nights with him so she could show him the real Boston through her eyes. Those three days were everything and more than what they both expected. Afterwards, Beck and Jolie kept in touch, trying to find a way to meet again. A misunderstanding caused them to lose touch. Three years later, Beck finds the girl he can’t get off his mind …Jolie. She’s in the same city, and he grabs this opportunity by the horns to keep her. Except now she’s forbidden and off-limits. Who will put sacrifices on the line in order to make this relationship work?
Beck and Jolie had a palpable instant chemistry. The story had the perfect blend of forbidden love, angst, and, in true Marni fashion, spice. Beck is a giver, in every way imaginable. Giving was his love language. Speaking of giving… the spice hit hard and fast. The dirty talk was top-notch, and man does he love to eat kitty. The push and pull was everything I wanted. I really hope Marni gives us some more hockey. I am intrigued by some of the players on the team.
Tropes: billionaire, hockey, second chance, workplace, forbidden, secret relationship, right person, wrong time, age gap, alpha hole.
Thank you so much, Marni and Valentine PR, for allowing me the pleasure to read this ARC in exchange for my honest review.
Beck and Jolie’s instant chemistry was insane, and their spice was out of this world.
But then Marni had to add some of her usual angst and it is just heartbreaking to see two characters who are meant to be, struggle with their feelings. But it does make the spice ever so hottttt!!
I loved Marni’s foray into the hockey world, I hope she goes back again another day!
Gah! This was perfect. The chemistry between Beck and Jolie was off the charts. I love a good second chance romance! And I definitely love a book where those no third act breakup. Beck was all the things we would want in a MMC and Jolie fit his personality and life seamlessly. Loved it!
⭐️⭐️⭐️.5/5 [Rounded Up] 🌶️🌶️🌶️/5 🗓️ Release Date: 07.10.25 📚 Book 2 in the "Weston Group" Series, can be read as a standalone 🖤 M/F 🏒 Hockey Romance 🗣️ Dual POV
Book was solid, little to no spelling/grammatical errors and compelling! I devoured the book in 2 days [Cause like kids + Summer = 🤷♀️] and really liked Jolie and Beck together. Some parts felt a little forced but I think thats just because its Billionaire and I cant fathom that level of do what you want 😂
Jolie meets Beck in a bar in her hometown of Boston after a Hockey game when she is a Sophomore at BU. Beck is a "established" professional hockey player who sees her across said bar, and immediately is infatuated. He proposes an arrangement of Jolie staying 3 nights with him while he's in town, and she's to show him around all the places that she loves in Boston. Basically this kicks off the "Right Person, Wrong Time" series of events that span a few years.
Once they are actually in the "Right Person, Same City" part of their lives, they still hit some obstacles that try and keep them apart. But Beck and Jolie are both pretty stubborn so I am sure you can guess how that turns out 😂
I appreciate that the epilogue wasnt the norm of picket fence and 2.5 kids that normally would be found for wrapping a book like this.
Tropes: 🏒 Billionaire 🖤 Age Gap 🏒 Hockey Caption 🖤 Alpha Hero 🏒 Second Chance 🖤 Forbidden Love 🏒 Only Supposed to be 3 Nights, No Attachment 🖤 HEA
This took me forever to get through! Being a big fan of spice in the books I read, I never thought I would utter 'too much gratuitous sex' but I was wrong.
This book was so boring and exhausting to get through. Very little happens when they aren't fucking unless you count how many times he talking about wanting her pussy. It's just too much with no real story and that's a lot for something supposedly spanning over 2.5 years.
I loved Beck in previous books but he definitely got ripped off with his arc.
Jolie was ok but very little character development besides having a weekend fling the second she meets him and never living beyond that for 2.5 years when they meet up again.
It was as if the author had a deadline to make but no idea what to do for the story so just wrote ongoing sex scenes to fill the pages hoping no one would notice how little bones were actually in the story.
I so wanted to like this book, but just couldn't. We get 2 years and 9 months of them texting only for 1 failed text to end all communication. She blamed him but let's face it, phones work both ways. Then the kicker, her father who lives in Boston decides to buy a hockey team, his hockey team, in Los Angeles. Let's all take a minute and roll our eyes together. I listened to the audio book, and was so bored I had to put it on fast speed to get through it faster.
This is my second book by Marni, and she is quickly becoming someone I look forward to reading. This book was HOT like RIGHT out of the gate. Beck and Jolie had SUCH amazing chemistry. I was listening and reading this and making sure my volume wasn't too loud while I was blushing. I liked the premise here and the originality of bad timing coupled with miscommunication and then second chance. I liked how these two never forget those 3 nights they spent together all that time ago. How even though it was the bad timing, they tried to cling to a semblance of communication and attempted to meet multiple times. I LOVED their reconnection and how they both knew exactly how long it had been. I loved how Beck treated her like a queen, and then OMG Marni you gave us SUCH tension. I don't think I have read a book where they are together, then break, then together than ANOTHER break with SUCH good tension- kudos to you lady! I loved that Beck turned on the charm for Jolie because he knew she wanted him. And then when she finally gave in Beck treated her like his leading lady. He supported her job. He was so swoony worthy it made my heart melt in the best way! And I loved how strong Jolie was- how much she transformed from a younger 22 year old to a confident 25 year old boss lady.
Beck has never been more than a one night man. Not necessarily a playboy but he gets around. He doesn't have time or energy for anything else. Until her. Jolie. The 22 year old woman he convinces to stay with him in his hotel for 3 nights while he is in between games. The woman who blows his mind with how thoughtful she is and how well they connect and how much he CRAVES her. But he has a job where he travels constantly, and she is only in her second year of college. They don't make any promises but they keep in touch. Until a miscommunication stops even that. Fast forward 3 years, and Beck sees her again. In LA. In HIS family's bar. What are the chances. He jumps on them of course. He takes her home. He worships her and tries to make up for his mess up and their time apart. But then the next morning when he is thinking about the future, she leaves. He quickly finds out more. She is now working for his team. She is kind of his boss. Now all kinds of roadblocks are in the way AGAIN of them having their moment. But Beck is nothing but patient and recognizes that if he hasn't stopped thinking about her for this long, this will NOT be how their story ends. He respects her space but also teases her. And like a fly to a spider- she finally falls for the trap. And now they are doing this. They are together, and Beck can't help but think how strong they are for what they have been through. And how he knew back then that she was IT for him.
Jolie is a huge hockey fan. So when she sees THE Beck Weston in the bar she is at. She kind of drools. When he comes over to talk to her and invite her to stay with him for three days while explicitly telling her what he plans to do to her, she drools some more. This can't be real can it? But it is. This man makes her realize she has been living under a rock. He makes her body sing in ways she has never experienced. But there is an expiration on their time together. As much of a connection that they have. As much as she wants more, it isn't in the cards. They try to stay in touch but then she kind of lays her heart out there with no response. Fast forward 3 years, and she is in LA now. She is here for her new job. She has allll the nerves, and then she sees him again. Beck. The man who let her go. The man who has ruined all other men for her. The man she still can't stop thinking about. And she gives in so easily. She goes home with him. She wants him soo much it hurts. But the next morning reality crashes. She can't do this. She now works for the team. She has a reputation to uphold. Which is what she tells Beck. She wants to be with him, but once again circumstances are in the way. But Beck is teasing her like no other. Walking around half naked. Teasing her about how he knows her body. A woman can only take so much. Which is how she finds herself caving. Telling him how she feels. What she wants. Trusting that they can make it work. Which they do, and Jolie realizes that having Beck at her side makes things a little less scary. He makes her feel like she could do anything :)
I can't describe how hot and spicy this book was. You take an experienced man with an unexperienced girl- hot- and add a dirty talking mouth. Someone who pushes her. Someone who draws out her dirty side and YUP that is Beck and Jolie. I really liked these two so much. I liked watching Beck sweat a little- how he wasn't used to that feeling. And then I liked him make Jolie sweat a little. And how he teased her. I also liked all of the snippets of Weston family time and can't wait to read book 1 and all of the others to come. Definitely recommend this one yall!
Thank you to Valentine PR and the author for a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review :)
I was thrilled to read the next installment in the Weston Group series, especially knowing that hockey player Beck would be taking centre stage. As hockey romance is my absolute favorite, and Marni truly delivered a story that is pure perfection.
As from the moment Beck is introduced and lays eyes on Jolie, I was hooked. As he is full of charm, but not in an arrogant way, and the chemistry he shares with Jolie is sizzling! Unfortunately though, after three amazing nights together, they part ways as their lives are at different stages and follow different paths. However, they do stay in touch, hoping to reunite someday.
But sadly, after three years, a misunderstanding causes them to lose contact. That is, until Beck walks into one of his family's clubs in LA and sees Jolie with her best friend, Ginger. This leads to another explosive night, and Beck starts to hope for something more. However, Jolie has a secret that changes everything. But they don't call him "The Wildest One" for nothing; and now that he's got Jolie in the same city, he’s not letting her slip away.
And with the perfect blend of angst, forbidden love, spice, and hockey, this is an utterly fantastic read. Beck West has undeniably claimed the top spot as my favourite of Marni's characters, and trust me, it will take a lot to dethrone him! I highly recommend this book to everyone.
My thanks to Valentine PR and Marni Mann for the opportunity to read an early copy of The Wildest One. All thoughts expressed are my own. 😊
The Wildest One is book 2 in the Weston Group series. This one is centered on the youngest brother, Beck Weston. Although Beck is involved in the Weston group, he is mainly focused on his hockey career. He is one of the best players in the league and the Captain of his team.
During one of his winning games in Boston, Beck meets a red-head lady, Jolie who has captured his attention. He invites her back to hang with him on his off days no strings attached. They have an awesome chemistry and for those three days that they spend together it feels too short. They learn about each other and it is difficult to say goodbye forever.
Jolie and Beck become friends, always chatting and messaging over the phone. But they cannot seem to ever see each other in person again. However, that attraction and chemistry remain.
Roll forward to three years later, Beck finds out that Jolie's dad has purchased his team and Jolie, is now the marketing manager. Since they have not spoken in a while is that chemistry still there? Beck has never forgotten that time with Jolie, and he would love to try again. Is Jolie of the same mind?
The Wildest One, is true Marni Mann style. It is a page turner, steamy scenes, wonderful main characters. The Weston family also make an appearance. Love, friendship, family and secret loves are all tackled in the romantic story.
Reasons I enjoyed this book: Easy-to-read, Entertaining, Happily Ever After, Page-turner, Romantic, Steamy, Wonderful characters
Marni Mann is quickly becoming my favorite author. She excels in billionaire romances that captivate readers. They are fun, hot, fast reads. I'm grinning and swooning over these fictional characters!
I loved how Beck and Jolene's story came together. They stayed in touch over the years after spending three unforgettable nights together. Yet, they regularly had missed opportunities to reconnect! It took a little more than two years and numerous challenges before a chance reunion. I enjoyed the longing, and there was no question about their strong feelings for one another.
Audiobook:
Savannah Peachwood and Sean Masters narrate the audiobook. Their performances were wonderful. Savannah and Sean provided the ideal voices for Jolie and Beck, bringing the story to life in the most compelling way. I love how they made me feel! Savannah and Sean really delivered on everything from the longing to the playful banter! This was an enjoyable listening experience!
What to expect: * Billionaire Romance * He Falls First (and hard!) 😮💨 * Hockey Player MMC * THREE night stand * Second Chance * Workplace * Forbidden * Secret Hookups * Dual POV * Age Gap * Alpha Hero
Thank you to author Marni Mann and Valentine _PR for the advanced listening copy. All opinions are my own.
Boston college sophomore Jolie is enjoying a rare drink after an NHL game with her bestie when she’s approached by none other than the opposing (and winning) team’s captain who’s much older than Jolie’s twenty years. As a lifelong hockey fan, she’s intrigued, but her coursework load is very demanding. She does agree to a three night, no strings liaison before he returns to his life and career on the West coast.
Initially prepared to leave the bar early for some much needed rest after a big game, Beck changes his mind when he spots the fresh faced Titian haired beauty wearing the losing team’s logo. After their agreed three night arrangement, Beck can’t get Jolie out of his head. However, age isn’t the only reason she’s off limits to him.
After a three year separation with some communication, their paths cross again and their overwhelming pull toward each other has Beck determined to claim Jolie for all time.
I received an advance reader copy from Valentine PR, and I’m sharing my honest review. This book begins with arguably the worst opening sentence I’ve ever read in a romance, hockey related or otherwise, btw, and there are some cringe moments as they’re engaging in intimacies, in addition to the whole “she’s not like other girls” bit that had me rating it three and a half stars rounded to four.
Since we met Beck I have always been curious about him. I am so glad we got his book second!!! Jolie and Beck were mouth watering. I love Marni and her spice but I also love that she gave us an age gap romance. That trope is one of my favorites and she made it so good! Can't wait for the next book.
I devoured The Wildest One in one day! This fast paced hockey romance captured my attention right from the meet cute. Beck’s infatuation with Jolie is utterly captivating. The instant he laid eyes on her in the bar, it was clear he was intent on winning her over. And let’s just say, this guy excels at cherishing his woman.
Their relationship is far from typical, yet it suits them perfectly. They exemplify the classic scenario of right person, wrong time, and the build-up only intensifies the longing and desire.
I found myself wishing for more moments of them as a couple living their lives in the same city. I’m eagerly anticipating glimpses of them in upcoming books in this series.
And let me tell you, the men in this series are exceptional! When they fall in love, they fall hard. There’s no obstacle too daunting for them to tackle in their quest for the women they adore.
Thank you to the author for a gifted copy of this book.
'This wasn't just a simple shaking of my hand. He was setting me on fire, and instead of using a match, he was using a flamethrower.'
When I sit down with a Marni Mann book, I know I'm not only going to get some screaming hot physical chemistry, but I'm going to get a story that will take me through the trenches in one form or another. And man, did I just eat up The Wildest One.
Beck Weston is a well known professional hockey player, damn good looking and knows how to please a woman. He's not one for repeats, but when his teammate points out the stunning red head at the bar in Boston, he approaches her with his devilish conversation and a deal for her to spend the next few days and nights with him before his team leaves to their next destination. What woman wouldn't want to drop everything for a few days with THE Beck Weston?
Jolie is big hockey fan and just watched her team get crushed by the visiting team. She's out with a friend at a local bar when none other than Beck Weston approaches her with the proposition of a lifetime. Spend the next few days with him at his hotel letting him ravish her body while she shows him HER Boston. Even though Jolie is a busy young woman, she can't say no to this hockey god. What follows is some insane physical chemistry, understanding each other and real moments that electrify the pages.
"You really think I'm that kind of guy? One who just walk away. One who doesn't fight."... "Let me tell you something. When I hear things like this, I'm the kind of guy who fights even harder. You'll see-and yes, Jolie, you will see because I'm about to show you. It's game on."
I wasn't sure where Ms Mann was going to take this couple's story because their time was supposed to just be those couple of nights. We had 2 very busy individuals that didn't have time for one another. And the fact that Jolie is a bit younger and not in a place to upend her life. They had a connection but how was Marni going to make it all come together? All I'll say is.....completely unexpected, but so well done. Especially with the distance, the timing and everything that happened. When Mann commits to something that almost made my heart drop out, she made it work and made it damn believable. It gave me just the right amount of angst I needed in a story that started insta-lust at first. She made me smile. She made me frustrated. And damn it, she gave me so much more than I expected.
The Wildest One is a well written story with all the heat, all the chemistry, darn good conversation, a wonderful cast of characters and just enough angst and forbidden elements that had me biting at the bit. Add that to the fact that we got more than just a tease of hockey making a true sports romance lover very happy.
This book may be the second in the series, but it definitely stands on its own. I am loving the whole Weston family and how much they all come together for each other. I cannot wait for more in this world and am eagerly anticipating getting Walker Weston's story next. Hot Grouchy Chef, what ya got up your sleeve?
Unfortunately this Marni book just didn’t hit for me. I typically love Marni’s books and I especially loved book 1 in this series. This one fell flat. I didn’t feel the connection between the characters. The insta love just didn’t work for me and the miscommunication was beyond frustrating. The best part was seeing the Weston siblings make their appearances. Regardless, I am looking forward to the rest of the series! Thank you Valentine & Marni for this ARC in exchange for my honest review! 🫶🏼
I loved the way Jolie & Beck met & how straightforward Beck was in his desires. & I always love Marnis spicy scenes.
I DID not like the fact that Jolie was celibate after the fact. (And yeah this is mainly a me thing) but I don’t care for mentions of the FMC being celibate while we all know the MMC was off getting his rocks off.
I was super curious to read something written by Marni Mann and I had the chance to listen to this most recent releases of hers. Thank you so much Marni and Valentine Pr for this steamy e-copy.
Two strangers, three unbelievable steamy nights, which made them insane for one another. Beck and Jolie shared these moments together, thinking that they might make the long distance work beyond those days. But after talking for a while, something went wrong there and they simply stopped their connection. That's until Beck and Jolie meet again, but not in the circumstances they would want. Why? Because Jolie was now the forbidden fruit, being now someone who he cannot have. But how could they resist to that insane attraction they felt for one another?
Our hockey player Beck Weston didn't really knew what hit him when he saw Jolie for the 1st time. The redhead girl was younger than him but she definitely caught his eye and became pretty addicted to her. Beck wasn't the type to be refused, so he used all his charms to convince Jolie to share some moments together, because she was a pretty stubborn girl and wasn't that easy to be sweeped of her feet. But everything they lived in those 3 days was only a nice dream, because the real life hit them pretty strong. That made their reconnection even more tensioned, filled with a lust and want they both craved. Their current situation was complicated but the feelings and chemistry they had were stronger than anything else, ignoring the forbidden status of their relationship. But could they make that work? Was there more than just a physical attraction?
This story was filled with spicy scenes, so you must be prepared before starting this book. It was impossible for Beck and Josie to keep their hands to themselves and that constant desire brought to life all those hot moments. A book recommend for those who love spiciness and a super strong connection between the characters.

✨️ ALC 🎧 REVIEW ✨️
🎙Narrated by: Savannah Peachwood & Sean Masters 🎙
I absolutely couldn't get enough of Savannah and Sean as Jolie and Beck!! They really knocked this one out of the park! Savannah fully brought Jolie to a whole new level! I don't think anyone else could have done Jolie justice the way Savannah did!
Sean is obviously a master (😉) at his craft when it comes to giving each character their unique true voice during their book. I have yet to listen to anything Sean has done that hasn't been top notch 🙌. Sean gave Beck the right timbre in his voice with the perfect inflection he deserved. If I hadn't known he was the voice behind Beck I would have thought this was Beck himself.
Marni never ceases to surprise me when it comes to her writing and the characters she brings to life with each book. With every new book, I tell myself how much sooner I should have started reading Marni books!
Jolie and Beck were the perfect storm. As soon as their first text hit with each other i knew these two were going to be a wonderful but of chaos in the best ways. I love that Jolie came into everything with eyes wide open 😉. She definitely gave Beck a run for his money, but also herself. It was a challenge for both of them to be able to try and keep a relationship alive with their jobs.
What I wasn't expecting was the time gap. But I can't say that it didn't keep me even more engrossed in what was going to happen next! I love the banter these two shared! There was always something being said without having to expressly saying it. Where do I even begin with their chemistry?? That was off the charts 🔥🔥🔥. That chemistry really worked in their favor when they were and weren't together.
I truly loved these two and their story! I am sad for their main story to be over. But I am too excited to see them throughout the series!!
