The Tenant

Rate this book
In hopes of getting her fiancé to consummate their relationship before the wedding, Amanda convinces him they should check out the apartment her father gave her as a gift for their upcoming nuptials. Darkness and privacy are supposed to work in her favor, but there is one parameter she doesn’t know the apartment is not empty yet, and the current tenant has no plans of moving.

Derek has had a hell of a few months. His girlfriend turned out to be a cheater and then stole his restaurant. He's not about to also give up the place he's called home for three years—even if his hot but infuriating landlady threatens to move in by the end of the week.

When her own lease is up, Amanda is forced to make good on her threat. As if life isn't already hard enough, her tenant-turned-roommate is as sexy as he is annoying, and her fiancé is caught with a half-naked woman.

Now she and Derek both need to find a way to survive their forced cohabitation. But soon, they discover that sleeping with the enemy can be fun.

Sotia Lazu

Sotia cries at sappy movies and wishes she could take in all the stray dogs in the world. She lives in Athens, Greece, with her husband--whom she met through writing--their son, and their two rescue dogs, one of which might be part-pony.

Her genres of choice are romances with a twist and urban fantasy novels, always with vivid erotic elements. Her characters aren't exactly hero-material at first glance; she likes making them fight for their happiness. Still, the romantic in her can’t resist happy endings.

The Tenant  was a quick, easy, and enjoyable read about love and hate and how the lines blur between the two. The story was about a couple -- Amanda and Derek -- who were thrown together by the oddest sequence of events and a little conniving by Amanda's family. Amanda was on the heels of settling into marriage with her fiancé, Mason. Her very celibate fiancé who she is trying desperately to get him to break his resolve. But after a year of being together nothing is happening between them. Gifted an apartment as a wedding present by her father, Amanda uses the guise of a "walk through" to try to seduce Mason. Only, her plan fails miserable. Not only is Mason blocking her machinations, but she also discovers that the apartment that is supposed to be empty is indeed very occupied. By a very naked, gorgeous, and ornery tenant -- Derek.

Derek is miserable and drunk and miserable :). His ex, who he thought he loved, cheated on him and stole his restaurant. Needless to say, women are not high on his list when he encounters Amanda and Mason in his apartment. From the very beginning, their interactions are contentious. He doesn't like her and she definitely doesn't like him. The volley verbal barbs at each other immediately and every subsequent time they interact with one another. So imagine Derek's surprise when his new "roomie" comes barging into his place with all her stuff.

And fun, sexy times ensue.

I liked the interactions between Derek and Amanda. They were intent on making each other miserable while they were living together and upped the ante with their hijinks. But through that, they came to a tacit truce and decided that they would try to cohab in peace. Fortunately for them, they were very attracted to one another. But Amanda, ever the good girl, resists their attraction because of her love for Mason -- until she thinks he's betrayed her. After that, the gloves come off and she releases the lid on her attraction for Derek. The pair engages in carnal bliss in just about every room of the apartment.

But reality invades...

Amanda discovers that things may not have been add they seemed. She is left with a choice between keeping Mason or throwing caution to the wind with Derek.

The Tenant was a fun read and will provide a nice window of enjoyment for anyone looking for a light, humorous, and sexy story.

Hot; sexy; fun!!!

And there's nothing damsel-like about you, anyway. If anything, you're like a pocket-sized hurricane. by Derek

I'm happy to read Amanda's book. I really liked her and Alice on Becca's book and I love seeing favorite characters on books.

Amanda is annoying, Derek is an asshole; and I've loved them. :) Somehow they work. Their chemistry is undeniable, and they way the get-it-on is hot!!! They are always fighting, but it's fun.

I like that Ms. Lazu always gives her characters totally different personalities, and still make them real that we can love and relate to them.

I've wished their book was longer, or maybe that their relationship hadn't escalated so fast. I don't know!!!

Oh, I have to say I knew from book 2 of the series that Mason was a NO-NO. Thank you Ms. Lazu we got to see him go!

Well, in the interest of full disclosure, first thing you should know is I fuck hard and dirty after a drinking binge. by Derek

How you could not love Derek? The man was panty-wetting hot!!!!

At the end we got a short-story with Alice. I got say I've loved, but at the same time I believe Alice deserves her own book. I really love her!!!

Who said I'm in love with you? (by Amanda) He shrugged. You will be after I spend a week fucking you six ways from Sunday. by Derek

You MAY read this because you have been following the series; you SHOULD read this because you know Ms. Lazu writes the best steamy books; you MUST read this because you are ready for a scorching hot ride!!!

This is a sweet, light, enjoyable and easy read from Sotia, and I loved every moment of it.
Sotia writes a lovely story, with quite believable characters, who are pretty much just everyday people.
In this story Amanda is preparing her wedding to fiance Mason. Unfortunately for Amanda, she hasn't
woken up to the fact that she's not actually in love with him.
Amanda's father has purchased her an apartment as a wedding gift, but the catch is, it comes
complete with a stubborn tenant, who just refuses to move on. Out of necessity Amanda decides to move into her
new place, regardless.
After a rather passionate kiss with her tenant, due to a sex free year spent engaged to Mason, guilt takes over,
and she feels the need to confess all to Mason.
On arriving at his apartment the door is opened by a woman wrapped in bed sheets and Mason standing there in his underwear.
No explanation needed right!!??

Amanda seeks solace with Derek, the tenant, and is happy spending her time, alternately argueing with him and
screwing him, until Mason turns up a couple of days later to explain the situation he was caught in.

So just who is cheating on whom, and how will this mess be fixed?

I really enjoyed our couple together, but did wonder, why Amanda didn't realize sooner, about her lack of feelings for Mason. It's
really not the norm to find solace in the arms of someone you have just meet, after you find your fiance is cheating. I didn't feel
much for Mason, he was pretty dry in my books. Derek had some "get up and go" to him and was much more suited to the "real" Amanda,
not the woman she had become to fit in with Mason.

Great story Sotia, and one that I enjoyed very much.
Loved the little dedication by the way! So if Andre isn't Mason, is he Derek?

I actually really enjoyed this book. I'd give it 3.5 stars.

I give it 3.5 stars because of the following:
5 stars implies it changed my life.
4 stars mean I'll probably reread it in the future.
3 stars mean it was an enjoyable read.

This book about two people who started off hating each other's guts really reeled me in. The characters were believable and I felt like I understood and could relate to their thoughts and actions. I found myself disappointed when the story ended. I really wanted to know what happened next because I enjoyed the interactions between the two main characters.

This definitely isn't a story in which two soulmates see each other for the first time and they instantly know they're each other's forever. This story might actually happen in real life. These characters experience hate, love, passion, awkward silences and self-discovery all wrapped up in mischievous pranks and scorching hot sex.

If you want a quick and engaging read, I would recommend this book.

Amanda, the main female lead, is about to get married to Mason, that is until she finds him in a compromising "Situation" with a half nude wench..

Her emotions are all over the place which leads to her being a landlord from hell.

She wanted to move into one of her father's apartments.
The only problem, someone is already living in it, Derek, and he does not want to move out, so they decide to become
"room mates".

There is a lot of banter and chemistry between the two leads.

I liked the dual point of views, the reader is able to understand both Amanda and Derek.

I would have liked to find out a little more information on Mason, it felt like he just made a cameo appearance.

Overall, this book was an entertaining read.

at first when I started thought that Amanda was going to be a spoilt up her own arse brat, but once you get to know her she's actually quite mischievous and Derek brings out the best in her.
I was so not team mason he was so bloody boring and wanted a old fashion wife who stays at home cooks cleans watches the children and just by knowing Amanda she is definitely not that kind of woman.
I loved Derek from the get go he's very very hot, as well as playful, loving , and omg hot lol.
I really did enjoy this story I read it quickly but I think everyone loves a book like this with hot characters, hot sex and brilliant banter can't go wrong. :)

I wanted more from this. I wanted what the blurb promised. I wish there was more time of the two characters really being with each other so I could believe they fell so hard so fast rather than the endless internal dialogue of whether or not to marry Mason. It was just too much internal side dialogue and not enough of the couple.

But the sex was hot when it actually happened. So two stars.

Good

I was glad that Amanda from the threefold series got her hea. I was confused about the relationship between Mason and her, they didn't seem like they were really into each other. While her relationship with Derek set off sparks from the beginning. I am hoping one day the author might write about her sister Alice.
