In 1989, brothers Bert and John Jacobs designed their first T-shirts. They began selling their designs in the streets of Boston and out of an old van at colleges and street fairs. Today, the company offers more than 900 different items in 14 categories, and products are sold in approximately 4,500 retail stores in the U.S., and in 30 countries worldwide.
You could make the case that this is barely a book at all, but it has a cover and pages, so let's go with it. Life is Good is my favorite t-shirt brand. I probably have twenty different Life is Good shirts. They are soft, oversized, optimistically funny, and the company supports good causes. The book version was a Christmas gift from one of my daughters, and I love it. Although I could have probably read the whole thing in ten minutes, I've been savoring it for weeks.
Each page spread includes a thoughtful aphorism and a smile-inducing picture of Jake and Rocket, the goofy Life is Good icons of a dude and his dog. Here are a couple of random takes: "Don't knock something. Build something," and "Takers may eat well, but givers sleep well."
I've been keeping this book on my desk, and I look at one page spread each day, several times a day. The words and images have become part of each day's positivity mantra. Now that I've finished the book, I'm starting over.
If you want to treat yourself, get this book and a Life is Good t-shirt.
Never gets old, and makes me smile. I'm placing a copy on my coffee table as a passing reminder that life is good in so many simple, yet wonderful ways. Find yourself a used copy; it'll make you smile every bit as much as a new one.
This is a collection of simple but meaningful Life is Good mantras and corresponding illustrations. I read it smiling throughout. Some of my favorites are: Write on; Read 'em and reap; and Simplify. The last one is one I struggle to embody. I'll reread this at least once per week to stave off the darkness.
This isn't so much a book as it is a collection of sayings from the popular Life is Good brand. The book's proceeds from sales go to charity. Sometimes it's just to be reminded about the really important things.
This is a really great little book. Some cute puns that go with the illustrations. Inspiring yet simple all at once. A quick read. Would make a great gift or a book to have on your coffee table to pick up for some inspiration.
