AFLOCKAPOCALYPSE: An Extreme Bizarro Horror Story

Rate this book
From Tory Favro, the author of extreme horror sensation Piñata, comes a tale of terror from deep within the Amazon Rainforest.

The skies are screaming, and death has wings.

Diego Cortez thought tracing his family roots deep in the Amazon rainforest would bring him peace. Instead, it cursed him. Pecked by the mythical Hoatzin bird, he's transformed into a monstrous bird-god with a thirst for revenge and a terrifying new control over an endless swarm of birds with talons sharpened for slaughter.

As his feathered army descends upon a small town, death rains down in brutal, blood-soaked waves. No one is safe. Not the military. Not even those who see Diego beneath the feathers.

His family.

Gruesome, gory, and utterly unhinged, AFLOCKAPOCALYPSE is a bizarro splatterpunk fever dream that will leave you gasping, gagging, and begging for more.

Survival isn't enough. You'll need wings to escape.

3.5 stars. I literally have no idea what I read. I mean, this book really frizzled my fritter. No, that wasn't a sexual innuendo, but, perhaps, it should have been. Bizarro is such an interesting animal, much like splatterpunk. Sometimes, it's too weird to enjoy, while other times, it's not weird enough. This, somehow, found itself right between those two extremes. I've never read a book about a man being possessed by a bird god and destroying the world. So, I don't have anything to compare this to. The story is littered with violence, tons of sex, and some really funny lines, the most memorable of which I can't type here or someone would report me for vulgarity. Not my loyal Topsiders, though. They appreciate my potty mouth and immature jokes. Let's name those who don't like Peter Topside...Undersides? Bottom feeders? Open to ideas, folks. Anyway, this was a very unique experience that you'll either love or hate. I don't think you'll have a big audience in the middle.

Wow. I’m rendered near speechless, having just finished Aflockapocalypse by Tory Favro. This read was so unique that I’m finding only adjectives to describe it, because I’m not sure how to explain it (that’s a good thing). Wild, furious, bizarre, unapologetic, intense, and lightning-fast. I’ve never read its like. Wow and wow and wow again.

Holy crap!
This was probably the strangest book I’ve ever read. I don’t want to give a summary, because I loved diving into this book blindly. The shock value is priceless!
I had a hard time figuring out my thoughts on this story. With that being said, it really is amazing. It is very creative, unique and descriptive. I was completely sucked in and I watched every gross and weird scene in my head! I won’t forget how disgusting, crazy, and horrific the story is. The writing is fantastic and if you can handle the intensity, it really is strangely wonderful.

Aflockapocalypse!!!!!!

Thank you to Tory Favro for an arc of this appalling, frightful and spectacular book!

*It’s out now! Go check it out if you need a good crazy novella!!*

What the flock did I just read!

This book was definitely extreme and defiantly Bizarre.

Most extreme and bizarre books I’ve read ease you into things, usually the first chapter or so is all about getting to know the main characters, setting the scene etc, but not this one, no, this has like one page before BAM! You are up to your neck in fast passed and full on bizarre carnage and it doesn’t let up until the end.

Some aspects of this story I liked and others not so much, I like the uniqueness of this story, it’s something I haven’t heard of before, The story felt rushed and frantic partially the main character (that dude has some serious rage issues, lol).

I would have liked more detail in the story, which would also slow it down a little letting some dread seep into the story.

If you have read his story Piñata by him, then you will have a good idea of what to expect.

If not check your triggers as this is not for the faint of heart.

This book is one crazy ride that takes it's extreme bizarro label and multiplies it by 100.

The story follows Diego Cortez, who while deep in the Amazonian rainforest on a quest to trace his family roots encounters a fanatical tribe and is hand-picked to become a bloodthirsty bird god who wishes to reign the world with his hordes of loyal minions.
The way it is written conveys the craziness and downward spiral of the main character Diego perfectly and doesn't hold back on the explicit scenes and gore which only enhances the journey Diego goes through.

It's a short, sharp fast paced bizarre read which will entertain until the very last word.
So what are you waiting for? Get your talons into this and be prepared to have a peck-tacular time.

I find it extremely hard to put into words what an amazingly wild ride this was. This story takes absolutely zero breaks and honestly feels like a rollercoaster. This is genuinenly one of the best bizarro books I have read. It leaves you confused, yet gives enough.
Again, I could never put into words what an experience this was, but the writing is so insane and such a unique way of storytelling.

My first book that introduced me to Tory Favro was Piñata. This one doesn’t disappoint with the gruesome chaos. It also makes you not want to trace back your ancestry like Diego Cortez. Who learned he has family roots deep in the Amazon jungle. This book will definitely make you want to read more books by Tory!

This was a very bizarre story from a very talented Australian author. It was very different from the other books from this guy. It did take me a little while to get use to the writing style but then I really enjoyed it. The the easter eggs from his previous works was a fun twist I thought. I don't think I will ever think about birds the same way. So if you want to read something thats very different from your normal horror this might be the book you are looking for.

A trip to the Amazon for Diego to delve into his recently discovered native roots, takes a carrion turn.

Another surrealist horror full of explicit and disturbing scenes. The birds in this are terrifying and as Diego is transformed into a truly abominable bird-god intent on death and destruction, his winged devotees lust for blood and flesh is unending.

This is extreme splatterpunk so be warned and although the pages are bloodsoaked and entrails lie strewn across the chapters it is also a strangely compelling hallucination of a story that keeps you reading

Also the cover is incredible!

Diego thought he could learn about his family, but things go horribly wrong. Diego is different now and not very friendly. Extremely strange entertaining read.

What a unique and bizarre read. The story follows Diego as he uncovers his ancestral roots deep in the Amazon. It's hard to talk plot without revealing spoilers, so I will say this one is deranged, unsettling, creative, psychotic, and weird as hell in a good way. There is a lot of bird sex and strange obscurities. There is a different vibe in Favro's work, although this one isn't as manic as Pinata, it is much more full throttle bizarre splatterpunk. As someone who loves ancient civilizations, I connected to the cultural layers and references. If you are looking for an extreme horror read that will warp your brain, then look no further! Favro paints a vivid portrayal of obscure pandemonium.

What in the bird? Bird in the what?

Went in blind in an extreme horror search and was not disappointed. Extremely unique and bizarre.
From the dancing at the beginning to the military at the end, nothing was expected. At one point I thought some characters were forgotten about in the story then they showed up again and I was shocked at how.
Well worth the read and now I need to find more from the author.
