The Witches' Almanac 2026–2027 Standard Edition Issue 45: Water: The Mirror of Souls

Rate this book
The Witches’ Almanac is a sophisticated publication appealing to general readers as well as hard-core Wiccans. At one level, it is a pop reference that will fascinate anyone interested in folklore, mythology, and culture, but at another, it is the most sophisticated annual guide available today for the mystic enthusiast.

Founded in 1971 by Elizabeth Pepper, the art director of Gourmet magazine for many years, The Witches’ Almanac is a witty, literate, and sophisticated publication that will appeal to general readers as well as hard-core Wiccans. At one level, it is a pop reference that will fascinate anyone interested in folklore, mythology, and culture, but at another, it is the most sophisticated and wide-ranging annual guide available today for the mystic enthusiast.

Modeled after the Old Farmers’ Almanac, The Witches’ Almanac includes information related to the annual moon calendar (weather forecasts and horoscopes) as well as legends, rituals, herbal secrets, mystic incantations, interviews, and many a curious tale of good and evil. Although it is an annual publication, much of the content is both current and timeless—not specific to the date range of each issue.

The theme of issue 45 (Spring 2026–Spring 2027) is The Mirror of Souls. Also included are articles on geomancy, the lunar nodes, the zodiac calendar, fixed stars, kitchen magic, gods of the sky, orishas, and much more.

I really enjoyed reading, “The Witches' Almanac 2026–2027 Standard Edition Issue 45: Water: The Mirror of Souls.” I love the type of articles that are included. For example, I wasn’t expecting to see Esther Neumeier’s article, “Magical Regalia: Celebrating Graduation Day,” but this article absolutely fitted. This article reminded me of my own graduation from the doctoral program when I purchased specialized regalia that was visibly different from undergraduate and Master students.

As a farmer, I especially loved “Moon Gardening by Phase.” And Dickinson-Jo Mullen’s articles were all superb. Her creation and analysis of W.B. Yeats’ birth chart was phenomenal. I particularly appreciate that she includes horoscopes for all signs for the 2026-2027 year.

As I read Armand Taber’s “Sites of Awe” on Pompeii, it reminded me of how similarly I approached the Temple of Artemis in Ephesus (near modern-day Izmir, Turkey) fifteen years ago. In fact, I felt nearly identical to Taber when I wandered through Ephesus’ old rocky streets.

Overall, everything in this almanac was put together exceedingly well, and I can’t wait to read both past and future issues! This almanac is a great resource for serious practitioners.
