Struggling to navigate grief and questioning God’s plan, Jennifer’s journey takes an unexpected turn when she meets Michael, a firefighter from Northern Ireland, years later at an event in California. Despite the odds and miles between them, their undeniable connection reveals a shared history, launching them into an unplanned, but divinely orchestrated, future together.

Jennifer Osler-Bolton is a woman I have admired for years. I found her instagram account in 2016 not long after the death of her husband, Ryan, a firefighter who died tragically when the water tender tanker he was in was involved in a roll over accident.

Over the years I have watched as she embraced other widows and spoke about her love of God. Never giving up and always being raw and honest. I cannot imagine what she or her two children have gone through with the loss of Ryan.

Then something beautiful happened. Jennifer found love again and a new journey began with her love of God front and center of her relationship with her new husband, Michael.

While Jennifer’s story tells of the grief she felt and still feels at the loss of Ryan, her story feels like a love letter to God. Through the difficulties of life, she sought out God more instead of turning away when she was in so much pain.

Jennifer narrates the audiobook and does as amazing job, especially having recorded it in her closet! She has a very calm and soothing voice which is perfect for telling her story.

A story that will stay with me forever

I normally read thrillers and edge-of-your-seat fiction, but Always Kiss Me Goodbye pulled me in from page one—and I read it all in a single day. It’s raw, heartbreaking, and unexpectedly full of hope.

Jennifer Osler-Bolton invites readers to walk with her through the unimaginable: losing the love of her life and somehow finding the strength to keep going. Her writing is deeply personal, like watching life unfold over her shoulder in real time. The grief, the faith, the hesitation, the healing—it’s all there.

As someone who has a complicated relationship with religion, I was nervous at first. But Jennifer’s faith is different. It’s honest. It’s grounded in love, not judgment. And that difference made all the difference for me.

This is a story of loss, but it’s also a love story—two of them, actually. And through it all, it’s a reminder that faith doesn’t have to be loud or performative. It can be deeply personal, gentle, and real.

One of the most touching books I’ve ever read. I’ll be thinking about this one for a long time.

God is truly amazing and this book is a testament to that. God's work is not just about grand miracles, but also about the quiet, consistent ways He works in people's live and Jennifer’s story is a testament to that greater power. Grab the tissues and a good cup of tea. You are in for a powerful, emotional and inspiring journey that will leave you awe of God’s glory.
