Jumping into danger is second nature for Stone. Letting someone in? That’s the real risk.

Freshly fired videographer, Romy Radford, flies into a once-in-a-lifetime chance to film the Northern Territory’s deadliest predator—the saltwater crocodile. The only problem? She has to convince the rugged crocodile wrangler to show her his unique world.

Stone may wrangle cold-blooded beasts on a daily basis, but cold this hero is not. He’s carved out a life of freedom, guarding his privacy fiercely, and having a filmmaker in his space threatens all that. The last thing he expects is to use Romy's skills for a stolen livestock case that cracks open a mystery bigger than imagined.

In a world where crocodile-infested waters hide more than just monsters, nothing is what it seems, and Stone is about to risk everything—even his heart.

And what she captures on film… changes everything.

Following the runaway success of Elsie Creek’s Stockmen Series, welcome to The Stock where crime, cattle, and romance collide in the outback.

I do love my visits to The Northern Territory and nobody else takes me there on such awesome trips with awesome characters and adventures that open up a whole new world for me than Mel A Rowe, book two in this series and will we see the crocodile wrangler meet his match?

Video photographer Romy Radford jumps at the opportunity to film salt water crocodiles in the Northern Territory where she meets helicopter pilot and crocodile wrangler Stone, he is also very easy on the eyes, Romy and her director are filming a dangerous operation being performed by Stone when things change quickly and Romy decides that working for this director is not worth it and finds herself unemployed but Stone steps up and is encouraging her to do her own documentary not something that she feels she can do.

Stone lives the life he loves in the top end, he has he pets who are special to him, his home and now he is part of the stock squad investigating stolen stock, he also will sometimes take tourists out and show then around which is how he meets Romy she is so good at her job but he wonders why she works for other people instead of doing her own work and he is determined to work that out when he offers her a place to stay looking after “the boys” at his home.

When a call comes in from the stock squad Stone moves fast and Romy is by his side as they investigate the theft of crocodile eggs and hatchlings from one of the crocodile farms, who are good friends of Stone’s, Romy is soon filming vital action and evidence but as they investigate more it seems it might be linked to their past case could they finally get answers?

This one is action packed and sensual as Stone and Romy move closer together Stone never thought that this would be for him but Romy is easy to be with in more ways that one and as for Romy, Stone builds her confidence as they get to know each other, Stone’s “boys” are the best I love Finlay and I loved this story so much catching up with the other members of the stock squad was so good, danger and action abound in this story and it is one that I highly recommend, thank you so much Mel A Rowe for another not putdownable story bring on book three. Learning so much about crocodiles was fabulous.

My thanks to the author and Booksprout for my review copy.

Cold Stock
Book 2 of The Stock Squad by Mel A. Rowe

As I delved into the pages of this captivating book, I found myself not only engrossed in the thrilling drama of the plot but also gaining fascinating insights into the behaviour of crocodiles. During my daily commute to work, I tuned into the radio and heard reports of numerous crocodile sightings in Noosa on the Sunshine Coast, where I live. This news struck me as particularly unusual and somewhat amusing, especially since I was reading this book at the time. Noosa is quite far south for these reptiles, who typically inhabit the northern regions of Australia, making their presence there all the more intriguing.

The plot thickens in the second Book of The Stock Squad", where we follow Romy Radford, a visiting videographer and documentary maker with a keen eye for detail and a newfound passion for wildlife. Romy finds herself unexpectedly assisting the Stock Squad on their latest investigation, adding depth to her character as she learns to navigate the complexities of crocodile farming and Police investigations.

Stone, the hero of this story, may wrangle cold-blooded beasts, but he’s anything but cold-blooded himself. He has carved out an independent life, fiercely guarding his privacy while also being a respected member of the close-knit community in Elsie Creek. As a skilled helicopter pilot, he finds himself escorting a director and Romy through the stunning landscapes of his beloved Northern Territory, where crocodile-infested waters create both beauty and danger.

As Romy and Stone embark on their gripping adventure, they seek to unravel the mystery surrounding Saltscale's missing cold stock. Their quest takes them deeper into the complex world of crocodile conservation, revealing the challenges faced by those dedicated to protecting these magnificent creatures from the threats of habitat loss and climate change.

I truly enjoyed this book and continue to be captivated by Mel A. Rowe's writing style, which always entertains and amazes me with its depth. While this story may have lacked the romance present in earlier works, it compensated with heightened suspense and drama. The characters of Finlay and the Boy's added an additional layer of enjoyment and depth to Stone's personality in the story.

Who will get their story next, the very mystery Finn or Amara?

This is book two in The Stock Squad series and it is Stone and Rome’s story and omg it is definitely a must read. Stone is now part of The Stock Squad and they investigate stolen stock but he also loves wrangling crocodiles and taking tourists on trips but unfortunately Stone doesn’t do relationships or commitments because he loves the life that he had and lives. Romy is a video wildlife photographer and when she gets the chance to film salt water crocodiles for a documentary in The Northern Territory she jumps at the chance especially as Stone was the helicopter pilot and good at his job. When Romy finds out what the documentary was about and being used for she quit her job straight away which now left her jobless and no where else to go and that is when Stone comes to her rescue. When there is a big break in at one of the crocodile farms and a lot of precious stock is taken The Stock Squad are on hand to investigate and try to solve the problem and find out who took the stock which is worth a lot of money and why and hopefully with the help of Romy’s photography and drone skills they might be able to find the stock which is time sensitive and the people involved in the theft. Stone is kind, compassionate, supportive, competent, cares for animals and the environment and he likes his privacy and then you have Romy who likes to hide behind her camera and also gets hot and bothered around Stone as she thinks that he is handsome, cute and caring. The attraction between Stone and Romy grows the more time that they spend together and when they eventually give in to how they feel they are totally explosive and sparks fly all around them and they have a intense bond between them but with Romy only staying for a little while will it lead to anything serious between them. The stock squad is now closing in on the culprits but along with it are more surprises and twists and turns that will have you turning the pages to see what would happen next and also what the outcome would be in the end for all ou are them. Wow this book takes you on a rollercoaster ride and will have you on the edge of your seat and going through all of the emotions as if you are there living through it all with them. Mel A Rowe is a incredible author and writer who certainly knows how to pull her readers in while keeping their attention throughout and then you have her descriptions of the Northern Territory which makes you experience the sights, sounds, smells and feel everything, I definitely recommend you read this book and others by her and you will definitely not be disappointed.

The story of Stone and Romy is fast-paced, endearing, heart-breaking and enchanting. Was awesome to catch up with the rest of Stock Squad, catch up on the team dynamics (the wit, continual revving each other and how the Duchess gives as good as she gets).

Mel's sick word-skills drew me in from the first page and, just like the books I've read, I learnt so much! More about NT, the challenges of living there, that there is unity in commUnity; crocodile farming 🐊, honestly not an industry I knew anything about (to be honest hadn't even realised that there was such an industry), I totally appreciated the descriptions of the technology and the application thereof. Stone's flight skills, his loyalty to his friends and Finley are commendable; and then there is Romy, her cameras, drone and her drone skills - I am green with envy.

By the end of the book, I felt as content as I do after great chocolate (only without the calories). I'm really looking forward to the next episode in the series.

Loads of suspense as the Stock Squad goes on the search for the persons responsible for stealing eggs and juvenile crocodiles from the Saltside Crocodile Farm. The excitement abounds with Stone being the first of the team on sight with a backpacker friend, Romy, which they each had an attraction for the other. Romy was originally in town to film a documentary on crocodiles, but she quit, as the director was not above board of what he wanted. It turned out to be in the Stock Squad's favor that Romy was still around with her specialized equipment. Her drone could fly seeing things that could not see. She became an invaluable member to the Stock Squad by the time investigation was over. Just about the time you think you have thìs case solved in comes another curve ball to go with the all ready many twists and turns.

Blissfully romantic, extraordinarily unique, sinfully steamy! Escapism with a capital E!

Crocodiles, cameras, and a slice of Australia you and I couldn't imagine exists. I was riveted!

Another corker from Mel Rowe! Meet Stone, the Stock Squad's crocodile wrangler, as he gradually falls for documentary making Romy and solves the case of Saltscale's missing cold stock. This is the stuff movies are made from! Action, romance, mystery, and the beautiful Outback! Loved this story! Can't wait for the next!.

Romy thought she was being paid to film crocodiles in their natural environment but the man who hired pushed the limits whiling for her or Stone to be hurt so he could get his shots. Stone was adrenaline junkie with a soft spot for injured animals with his three legged turtle and rescue crocodiles. But when Romy gets close he's afraid of what might happen to her after losing his friend and pushes her away. There were some intense moments with the crocodiles and the egg and baby crocodile thieves. It was interesting reading about the crocodile farm.

Two very strong personalities in the lead characters makes for interesting interaction between them. There is an attraction that they both try to fight. There are a couple of twists in the story. Like the setting and the fact that they are using crocodiles and that added danger makes for interesting reading. Good read.

My interest in crocodiles was definitely piqued & enriched through this story. The snark, banter, & effortless action flowed naturally, drawing you in as one event seamlessly led to the next. The investigation moved at a brisk, compelling pace, while the simmering attraction added a slow-burn charm. Engaging, informative, & thoroughly entertaining!

Romy has a once in a lifetime chance to jump start her career. An opportunity to file the rugged Norther Territory and the most dangerous creature, the saltwater crocodile. Only one big hurdle though as she has to convince the crocodile wrangler to let her go along. Stone is a very private individual and it's thrilled about Remy showing up and invading his space.

I've read a lot of books written by Mel A. Rowe; she is one of my favorite authors. I can’t wait to read more of her books.

This is the second book in the Stock Squad Series; it is a stand-alone book. The story is about Romy & Stone.

THE STOCK SQUAD SERIES:
COLD STOCK, #2 - Ms. Rowe writes funny, entertaining romances with a bit of suspense and action, this book included. I always enjoy her books but this one extremely tickled my fancy. Finley and the Crocs are special characters that just added immensely to the fabric of this well written tapestry of the NT, AU. Source: The author. 5*

ROUGH STOCK, #1 - Cowboy Craig has his own story. Still part of the Elsie Creek community, this funny, interesting story has the same great characters, immersing story lines, and plenty of intrigue. Filled with humor, family, love, romance, and hope, mixed with a bit of baddies, this is a one-sitting read. Source: The author. 5*

THE STOCKMAN SERIES:
STOCKMAN'S STORM, #1 - Set in the Elsie Creek community, this entertaining, immersing, fun-filled romance comes complete with interesting story lines, family, friends, and danger. Source: The author. 5*

STOCKMAN'S STOWAWAY, #2 - This is a rather meaty and interesting story concerning all the plans and dreams the brothers share. Mia is a good addition to the family. As good as all the characters are, Bree stands out in this story with her secrets and her character development; she rocks. An entertaining, clean story with no profanity. Source: The author. 5*

STOCKMAN'S STORMCLOUD, #3 - This funny addition is full of surprises and discoveries, and loyalty. My favorite character is that awesome Redhead. While Leo is despicable, Ryder tried to take that title; yes, bad move he made. Source: The author. 5*

STOCKMAN'S SHOWDOWN, #4 - Absolutely the best of all four of these entertaining, funny romances with a bit of edge. Filled with danger and excitement, and finally, Bree's turn for more. The ending is bit sad but not unexpected. Clean language but some sex. A one-sitting page turner. Source: The author. 25*
THE STOCKMAN SERIES.

THE ELSIE CREEK SERIES:
THE ART OF DUST, #1 - What an entertaining story filled with fun, romance, family, community and adventures. Many lovely characters blended with well written story lines, good dialogues and plenty of ideas with a bit of sneaky, set in the outback of the Northern Territory. I enjoy reading the cannot put down books by this Aussie author. Source: My Kobo library. 5*

DOCTORING DUST, #8 - Couldn't stop laughing nor could I put the book down. It is difficult to write reviews on this author since I want to write book reports. Plenty of action going on with our park ranger, and the doctor, as she protects her park. Good intrigue, good romance, and all the good bits from The ART. This story is extra special for me since characters from The Station, 1&2, and an event from The Sister Trip are part of this. Plus, since missing all the other books of this series, I found out what happened to an elderly character from The ART. Source: BookSprout. 15*

BUFFALO DUST, #9 - This has been such an enjoyable, funny and entertaining series. Although I have not read many of these books, it is great to pick up a book and get lost in the pages and not feel lost or confused about mentions of previous books. This quickly read, fast paced book is filled with so much variety of goid story lines and wonderful characters, and no silly drama. Source: BookSprout. 5*
THE ELSIE CREEK SERIES.

THE SISTER TRIP - This is a pick up and put down only when finished book. I enjoyed every page of the relationship between these two messed up sisters with their secrets, their father and all the twists and turns they came across on their trip. Even Susie Homemaker was as tough as her independent big sister when push came to shove. There's drama, humor and love plenty in these pages. I want more from this author. 5*

OASIS OF THE OUTBACK DUOLOGY:
THE STATION, Volume One - Aww man, there's more to the story. While not a cliffhanger, the tale isn't finished. Well written with many likeable characters and good story lines, it is easy to get lost in the pages. Forget the cuppa, ya need a large teapot to cut down on interruptions while reading this immersing story. Source: Booksprout. 5*

THE STATION, Vol. Two - The best way to read this well written story full of wonderful characters, and some not, interesting story lines and plenty of fun, adventure and entertainment is to have both books. Even the drama holds the reader's attention without the Stupidity Formula raising its idiotic head. No vulgar language, and the bit of sex was here and there, made this doulogy even better. Hard to put down. Source: Booksprout. 5*

Love going back to Elsie Creek and The Stock Squad series is @melarowe latest offering! I loved reading the first two in this series Rough Stock and Cold Stock. What I love about Mel‘s books is the continuous theme (based around Elsie Creek) and the supporting characters (that have featured in prior stories) run through each of the books. In saying that they can all be read as stand-alone books or pick a series. In this series, most of the stock squad members are known to you if you’ve read the Elsie Creek series The Station or the Stockman series. Finn who is in charge of the stock squad we came across him in Stockman‘s Stormcloud and of course, Cowboy Craig who has appeared in many books. He got his own story, Rough Stock which I really enjoyed. I always find Mel’s books to be page turners. I would class them as romantic suspense and a total way to escape the world once you pick one of her books up. Rough Stock is Craig - cattleman and Rodeo rider and Izzy’s a lawyer story - second chance romance with a side of stolen cattle. This book is also about the Stock Squad being formed. Cold Stock is Stone - the helicopter pilot/crocodile wrangler and Romy - a filmmaker - a Strangers to Lovers romance. I throughly loved this story about crocodile farms and stolen stock (cold stock). Ready to read the next in the series - Wild Stock. #HEA #australianruralfiction #melrowe #stocksquad #roughstock #coldstock
