I can't express how much I enjoyed this story! The plot and events that take place in this story. The relationship with Nadira and Jonathan. I JUST LOVED IT ALL! Sure, it's a romance and there are rather intimate moments, but the plot and story line was so well done. Deborah Bailey is jumping up my favorite ladder with this story (series). And Kristin with the vocals. WOW! I felt like I was there listening to everything in person.

It's rare for Guardians to be called for fire cases but Nadira is called in by Lt. Tamara Lin to investigate a fire at a Service House that she finds suspicious. Elder Dakar has requested to see Nadira. He has plans for Nadira and her abilities, and a big future for her. Elder Dakar's assistant seems to know a few things about Elder Dakar and keeps presenting himself to Nadira. Jonathan has been staying on Hathor and wants to open a club here. He finds himself pulled into the Corporate world present on Hathor. Nadira and Jonathan learn that the connection she created between them is not liked by those higher up the Guardian chain. But when things get personal and the fires persist, almost harming Nadira. Jonathan and Nadira will have to make some hard decisions as Nadira tries to solve what is going on in the Guardian hierarchy.

Kristin, once again, displays why she is one of my favorite voices in narrating stories. She becomes the story and the characters. She starts with emotion in her voice for the opening scene and throughout the book. She easily performs accents to differentiate the woman and men speaking. Each has their own personality in voice, attitude, tone, and presentation. By doing this I can see the character as Kristin's presentation is paired with Deborah's words. This makes it so easy to dive into a new audio book and not get lost.

We get to see Nadira's abilities in action right off the bat. I like this as I'm one that's into abilities and powers. And there is no delay in getting into the story here.

There is so much more to the Corporate and Guardians in Nova City! Very interesting to see the inner workings of the Guardians and their work relationship with Corporate. The history come out in more detail here as well. Very interesting and I love the growth of it all here.

There is romance present, but it's not the center of the story. It's a lovely addition to the story and shows the beautiful connection our couple has. Even though I worry of Nadira and Jonathan's relationship, Nadira and Jonathan are adamant they are together. I'm so glad for this unwavering believe in them. There is so much going on in the world around them that it is nice to see a solid feel between them. They trust in each other and always give each other the open to make their own decision on if they stay or not, but that they both love each other is always there and we know the choice if it needs to be made.

I figured I knew who was behind the troubles in the city, but I wasn't exactly sure why. I loved the suspense and worry we felt in the circumstances Nadira, and Jonathan, found themselves in. The story built on itself and all the knowledge we were learning as we went. The systems here are so much larger than imagined, and things are going to change.

This book ranks among the top of the top. For the story that's written and the depth of the world with a touch of romance, belief in others, action, worry, and the narration. I could go on and on about the written story along with narration here. But I'll stop before I bore you with all the gushing.

But I'll leave you with one last loving sharing paragraph.

The story follows a mystery of burning buildings. Along the way, the characters uncover secret plots and conspiracies. I thought the utopia-feel could have been implemented a little better, for example by showing the good that's done by the guardians. The plot "twist" was predictable, and it made me wonder how their society didn't take it into account in the first place.

I really liked the narrator. I like Howell's accent, Karen's flirty voice, nadira's annoyance. I liked the subtlety she added in chapter 36 where two characters speak in unison. Voice-wise, michael and johnathan both have similar pitch, but their tones are different so they were still distinguishable.

Another gem in this series. Deborah A. Bailey has a gift for weaving tales of intrigue, plotting, and detective work, all placed a futuristic offworld venue. For the most enjoyment, I suggest reading Hathor Legacy Outcast first. I received a free copy of the audio version of this book in exchange for an honest review.

An interesting story. Love the idea of terraforming planets and the powers a few citizens have on this alien planet. Also loved the dynamic between Nadira and Jonathan. I wanted to punch Michael in the face.

I am not a big fan of love scenes in books, but there weren’t a great deal of them so it didn’t distract from the story line. Because of them this is not appropriate for kids or teens.

I very much enjoyed this 2nd book in this Series and the slowness on book 1 was Not repeated at all. Definitely a good listen/read. I Really disliked Michael and the author wrote him so well I want to hit him for his repugnant additude and ego. The Narrator did a lovely job and made the listen a pleasure.

I received a free copy of the book from the author for my honest opinion.

On the planet Hathor someone has been setting fires to what is called service houses. A service house is where someone is taken that has shown signs of having abilities or powers. But whoever is setting fire to these houses is hiding something. The houses that are being burned have people in them, people that have abilities. But someone is trying to hide that fact and Nadira a Guardian is investigating the fires and trying to find out who is behind the fires and the murders. Nadira runs into a lot of trouble herself while investigating the fires.

Nadira's boyfriend or the person she is connected to is charged or blamed for a crime he didn't commit and his sent back to his home world. Someone wants Nadira all for themselves or just wants to take control of her and can't do it as long as she is connected to someone. So this person is doing everything in their power to keep them apart. Nadira will risk her life, her job, her home and her freedom to save Jon. No one is going to hurt or break them up as long as she has breath in her body.

The oldest families on Hathor came from Earth. The planet was made safe for humans when they sprayed the planet with some kind of chemical that would make it habitable for humans. All or most that is born on Hathor are born with special powers but if they leave the planet for any length of time they will lose their powers.

While investigating the fires Nadira finds out a lot that she never knew about her family and the war that happened a long time ago that almost brought destruction to Hathor. If Nadira doesn't find out who is starting the fires in time it just may triggers another war. Nadira is racing against the clock to save her life and that of her planet.

When beginning Hathor Legacy: Burn I wasn't sure if I was going to like it but I was especially concerned that it wouldn't make any sense to me as I did not read the first book Hathor Legacy: Outcast but I didn't have any problem keeping up with the story. I don't feel as if I missed anything from the first book at all. Although I do wonder if the first book gave any info about Nadira, her family, her mentor and more about her training as well as how Nadira and Jon met and about their connection and would like to read the first book as well. I would also love reading more about Nadira and her new life in more books. I loved the world that makes up Hathor. I loved their houses, their different ways of transportation. I you have not read the Hathor Legacy's then I highly recommend that you do and real soon. The world building is out of this world (pun not intended).

“Hathor Legacy: Burn” by Deborah A. Bailey is the exciting sequel to “Hathor Legacy: Outcast” and continues the unfolding saga of Nadira, powerful and talented Guardian Sentry, and her lover, Jonathan Keel, son of the CEO of the most profitable mining installation in the system. Nadira gets drawn into the investigation of mysterious fires plaguing her town and starts uncovering a frightening pattern that involves individuals with lesser degrees of talent who are not actively acknowledged by those who are in power. There is continued opposition to her relationship with Jonathan, who has secrets of his own to protect and the stakes get higher and higher as they try to carve out a life together which may be an impossible dream.

This intriguing sequel gives a glimpse of more of the inhabitants of Hathor and provides twists on some of the preconceived notions of the hierarchy on the planet. I enjoy the glimpses of psychic powers provided and the futuristic touches but wish I had a clearer idea of the relationships between the various factions being described. There are plenty of intriguing secondary characters sprinkled throughout the story who will hopefully be featured in subsequent stories and it is fun to watch as Nadira stretches her wings but one should ideally read the first story in the series to get a grasp of the characters and the events thus far. I thought the villain was a little too obvious and there was an odd dynamic between several of the factions but this was an entertaining addition to the series and I enjoyed learning a little more about Hathor.

""... to the edge of your ability."
This is an intriguing story and one which I wish I had read rather than heard as it is just possible that I would have found the written word more palatable. This was not a book for me, however. I found the main protagonist shallow, silly and, frankly, annoying, not at all the feisty rebel she was constantly said to be. If she was the most talented on the planet there seems little hope for it's future. Plus there was far too much 'nipple tweaking', though, mercifully, such passages were fairly brief. Perhaps it was this which had turned her relatively mindless.
The narrator, Kirstin James, has a lovely voice and makes a pretty good attempt at even male voices, though some of her females were excruciatingly twee. Unfortunately, she really melded into the character of Nadira and, as the story continued, Ms James's reading became, to my ear, increasingly breathless and saccarin sweet. Turning the speed to 1.25 helped initially, but not for long. Which influenced which? Was it the narration which made me find this book hard to finish or the character forging the voice of the narrator? I don't know.
My thanks to the right's holder for the gift of this book, sent to me via Audiobook Boom. Even though I did not personally enjoy Hathor Legacy: Burn,, it still would probably resonate with a very young adult audience as the overall idea is good and the concept of having to chose between love and obligation is an attractive
