Discover what happens when a woman stumbles across a Scottish werewolf imprisoned in a thousand-year old dungeon.
Magic and mayhem, not to mention a lot of kick-ass action and some sexy hijinks, of course.
Pack alpha Aiden vows to do whatever necessary to protect his people. When he discovers a plot to harvest blood from his wolves to create the ultimate drug, he’s determined to stop them at any cost. And quickly finds himself taken captive. After months in prison, Aiden barely manages to hang onto his sanity. The last thing he expects is a shapely little human to come to his rescue and bring out all his protective instincts.
Shayla is being stalked because of her abilities as a seeker. When offered a job in Scotland, she leaps at the chance to escape. With danger pursuing her at every turn, she must decide if she could give up her magic in order to live a safe, ordinary life. Never in her wildest fantasies did she expect to find a feral-looking man imprisoned in a thousand-year-old dungeon…or be so wildly attracted to him. She didn’t need more trouble, but when fate presents the means to help him escape, she doesn’t hesitate.
Now they are both being hunted, and Aiden is determined to do everything in his power to protect Shayla…and seduce her into becoming his mate. As the danger intensifies, Aiden begins to suspect that Shayla might be the key to saving not only his people but also the future of his race…if he could keep her alive long enough.

Where the fanged, furry and spell slingers fight the darkness inside their soul for a chance to claim the one they love.
Im gonna come right out and say it: I was disappointed. And it was the heroine that disappointed me most.
To be blunt...shes pretty dumb. And a dumb heroine is a screaming warning alarm when it comes to PNR. It warns you that the story is going to be driven by her doing incredibly stupid things for no reason.
And that is exactly what happened. By the end of the book she had needlessly imperiled herself at least 3 times. And even though she is a woman so focused on being independent it borders on obnoxious, she still ends up having to be saved by the big strong man.
The romance in the book is driven, essentially, in the same manner except instead of imperiling herself she jumps to ridiculous conclusions about the male lead repeatedly. All of the romantic tension in the book could easily be resolved by a simple five minute conversation but I guess neither of them are far enough from puberty to have that sort of maturity. Which is really saying something considering the male lead is centuries old and has even been married before FFS.
What more, it seems the female lead (whose name I am purposely not saying because i think it sounds ridiclous) doesn't have a very high opinion of men. She keeps making snide remarks to herself like "Oh he wants to protect me, stupid man. If I want to literally kill myself with my magic I should be allowed to do that what a chauvinistic pig trying to keep me alive."
The blunt truth is that if she didn't have magic she would have no redeeming features and the book would have turned out very differently. Definitely not with the storybook romantic ending that it did.
Love blossomed out of nowhere in this book. This is another example of the man being influenced by a metaphysical compulsion to love the female lead (yuck). The author has crafted the setting in such a way that the female lead is the only known woman on Earth capable of being a mate to the male lead. All other women would die if they got pregnant. Apparently her special sparkles and crap make her capable of getting through child birth. This guy has no choice, as is often the case with PNR novels that deal with werewolves. Its very tiresome after a while. Its just not possible to write a convincing romance when one of the people in the relationship is, essentially, an involuntary participant (and its also amusing to note that the vast majority of these mating drives are one way, and the female is not bound in the slightest).
Anyway this is standard, frustrating fare. I suppose its possible the author simply know her audience. And audience that finds men with no choice appealing, and thinks involuntary love is good enough.
A quick, action-packed read, but the plot was a little cheesy and predictable. We have our standard evil villain that kidnaps supernaturals to harvest their blood for nefarious purposes, and our MCs' quest to rescue them and take down the group while running into trouble themselves.
I wish we had gotten more in depth character development on the FMC Shayla's fairy blood and how her abilities worked. It really seemed like a random mish-mash of powers that helped her find things - from the ability to walk in the realm of the ghosts to psychometry.
Still a decent book for those in the mood for a fated mate shifter romance.
Coveted begins when Shayla is running from someone, and ends up finding Aiden. She helps to rescue him, but she wasn't expecting for him to be what he was, and to find out a lot more about things she didn't know existed. Aiden on the other hand isn't sure he can trust her, and he also isn't sure of what he is feeling either. These two must figure things out before it is too late.
This book was really not for me. I didn't connect with the characters at all. And I really hated how they never really talked to each other about anything. If they did a lot of the drama would have been over and done with, and they would have been stronger together. Other than that, the story was okay, but I just didn't like this one.
Stacey's books are wonderful. They grab you from the start and pull you along for the ride. Aiden and Shayla are great for each other. He makes you want to traipse off to Scotland and find your own werewolf Laird in an ancient castle. I would love to know if the rest of the pack ever found their own Beloved. Maybe she'll let us know someday.
I really enjoyed this book! It was fast paced and engaging from the beginning and held me on the edge of my seat the entire time! I’m sad there isn’t a sequel as this is a stand alone novel but it’s worth the read regardless
I'm a fan of Stacey Brutger and was happy to find a book I'd somehow overlooked. The FMC is running from a stalker who is pretty much dismantling her life so she jumps at the chance of working in Scotland for s short while. There she finds our MC, and her troubles get crazier. I really enjoyed this part and the mystery with Lassie. Overall I liked it well enough but the FMC needed more fleshing out, she's supposed to be fairly intelligent but acts like a right nincompoop most of the time putting herself in peril several times. I quite frankly wanted to slap her to wake her up. I did like the ending and if Stacey wrote further stories, involving her family and the other wolves, I'd definitely pick them up.

I hate giving a book anything less than 3 stars. This book is 2 stars overall, where the fantastic beginning had a 4 star rating but slowly dwindled to 2 stars.
Firstly, there was spelling/grammatical errors and the story seemed as if it was in its first few drafts.
On every page, Shayla and Aiden could not stop thinking about jumping each others bones. Attraction and chemistry is important, particularly between mates, but it got irritating after a while. The book was 98% lust filled thoughts and Aiden's primitive desires and the 2% was action-packed plot. I swear, most of it was Shayla's/Aiden's insecurities and unspoken fears, where more communication would have solved their problems.
Don't get me wrong, there were things I did like in this book. There was intrigue right from the first page. The reader is thrown "knee-deep" into the water action. From the beginning onward, it was virtually impossible to put this book down. I also have to congratulate Brutger on writing Aiden's witty remarks, that left vivid imagery for the reader.
The underground dungeon harboured an unlimited supply of rats, a type of room service, he supposed, since the food came to him."
So for a bearded man withering away in a dungeon and surviving on rats, he somehow still sounded sexy. I don't know how that works but Brutger made it work.
Shayla goes to Scot land for a job. She finds things using her fea heritage. She's out enjoying Scotland on a walk taking pictures and what not. When shes thinking about wanting to find her true love. or the one. She ends up finding Aidan locked away in a cell. Then form there on its action packed. She frees him and the run for his land. and then it goes from there. Can't give anything away. This book made me smirk, laugh, get excited and pissed me off. (What was happening to the weres made me mad, but at least the bad guys got what they did. ) I liked that the werewolfs were different. Instead of having just two forms, (Wolf and human) The stronger elite ones had three forms. that was cool. I like how the mating thing went it was also different than other werewolf books. I liked how it wasn't love a first sight, (Yeah they felt it but didn't act on it so quick, which made it seem more real.) Recommend-- Yes. Read the next in the Series- Yes ( hopeing there is a next.)
4.5 Stars! I really enjoyed this book! It had a few differences from the typical shifter romance that made it interesting and entertaining. There was a lot of action and I enjoyed the characters. I liked that the H and h didn't instantly fall in love or even recognize that they were mates right away. They don't actually get together until more than half way through the book. The h was a very strong character and in fact saved the H, which is how they met. I thought the concept of a seeker and the frost world was entertaining. The downside, was that there could have been better editing, there were quite a few typos in the book and that pulls me out of a book. Overall, I really enjoyed the book and if there is another one in this series I will definetly buy it!
I would like to thank the author for providing me with a complimentary copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
I am not normally one for heavy romance but I do enjoy the paranormal genre. I took a chance on Coveted and was pleasantly surprised. The lead characters' stubbornness in denying their love for one another could have easily become dull and repetitive, but was prevented due to great characterization and an intriguing premise involving werewolves, magic, and ancestry. All in all, a solid paranormal romance!
So I really like Stacey Brutger's Raven Investigation novels. However, Coveted fell into the DNF category for me. Insta-love in the midst of finding a man locked in a dungeon. Strong Heroine that suddenly is weak and giving in because of "insta-love". Maybe if I'd stuck with it the story would have grown on me. However, the mystery of the 1st part of the book got lost in the whole romance part of the story and I just couldn't read more.
I was fortunate enough to receive a copy of this book through Goodreads First Reads. I have enjoyed all the books I have read by Stacey Brutger so far and this one was no exception. The story is well executed and has a bit of everything that makes a good book. I will admit it is a l title different but that is what makes it good.
I love paranormal romance and this book is all good with me. It has an alpha hunk wolf shifter, his fated mate and an intense storyline that kept me spellbound. I look forward to any sequels.
Not awful but not awesone either. After reading Academy of Assassins by Stacey Brutger, which I loved, I decided to check out her other works, this probably wasnt the best choice. I felt like the story had holes in it, it wasnt as well written. It just felt like it was lacking in some major details. I was a bit dissapointed.
