Kira Raising my daughter as a single mom wasn’t the life I dreamed of, and neither was being homeless. But thanks to my abusive ex and a broken system, that’s our reality. Until Ryder Du Ponte finds us sleeping in our SUV in the company parking garage and brings us home with him. The handsome single dad convinces me to work for him as a live-in nanny. And against my better judgment, I accept. With each passing day, Ryder becomes more than my boss. My heart is invested, but falling for him means risking everything. The problem is, I can’t ignore how safe I feel in his arms, and that’s what scares me the most.
Ryder Money can buy a lot of things, but it can’t buy love. A valuable lesson I learned the hard way—first with my parents and then when my ex chose to take a payoff and walk away. One day, I’m a single dad, doing my thing, and the next, I have a beautiful nanny and her adorable daughter living under my roof. Kira Adams is everything I never thought I’d find. She’s not only sweet and selfless, but she’s also a damn good mom to her daughter … and mine. The longer she’s in our lives, the harder it’ll be to let her go. What started out as friendship has grown into something neither of us expected. I know I should cut her loose before this thing goes any further, but I can’t. I’m already hooked on her.
*Hooked on You is book two in the Love & Whiskey series but can be read as a standalone*
Nikki Ash resides in South Florida where she is an English teacher and mom by day and a writer by night. When she’s not writing, you can find her with a book in her hand. From the Boxcar Children to Wuthering Heights to the latest Single Parent Romance, she has lived and breathed every type of book.
Reading is like breathing in, writing is like breathing out. - Pam Allyn
While reading and writing are her passions, her two children are her entire world. You can probably find them at a Disney park before you would find them at home on the weekends!
Kira (27) and her daughter, Violet (4), have been hiding from her (ex-)husband for the last three months. They're homeless and only living in her car. Call it luck or fate, she bumped into Ana, and she's in dire need of a provider in their corporate childcare. Kira got hired part-time, and there she meets Ryder (late 30s) and his daughter, Addie (1). There was an attraction, but they never acted on it because she's wary of men and he's wary of women, thanks to his ex-wife, who walked away from them without so much glance (8 mos ago).
Weeks passed and one night, after coming back to his office, Ryder saw Kira's car driving to their company's parking lot. He followed her and that's when he found out they've been living there for awhile now. He offered his house as temporary shelter and eventually hired her to be his daughter's nanny for a year. I guess with forced proximity and mutual attraction, readers know how this will go. 🤭
This is so freaking cute, and I had so much fun reading how their blended family worked so well. Violet and Addie were adorable daughters and are really sweet with Ryder and Kira. The MCs showed and showered these girls with so much love and affection, and I just loved how all of them fit perfectly. Kira loved Addie as if she's her own daughter, and Ryder did the same for Violet. The family moments were sweet, and if other people looked at them, they would probably think they're just one happy family. 💖
As for the MCs, they both have issues and hangups when it comes to relationships and starting new. But they never let these fears hold them back from seeing where the attraction would lead. It helps that they're both honest, open, and know how to communicate with each other.
I like the fact that Kira wasn't too proud to accept help and wasn't stubborn when Ryder took care of them. I liked that Ryder saw from the very beginning that Kira wasn't like his ex and that he didn't deny for too long how much he wanted to know her and be more with her.
There's no major problem with these two for the most part because even in the start, despite their own reservations deep down, they both knew that they're good people. What they had slowly developed from strangers to friends to lovers, and I appreciate that they took their time getting to know one another before jumping into a relationship.
The problems in this book were brought upon by their exes. Although this led to a little bit of suspense at the end, I'm just glad it got resolved quickly. And no one got harmed in the way.
While I did enjoy it for the most part. I'm not okay with the fact that Kira was legally married for the entirety of the book. 🙃 Readers only found out in the epilogue, which happens to be 8 months later, that she finally got divorced after her ex was put behind bars thanks to his kidnapping scheme. I would've wanted for her to be legally separated before starting anything with Ryder.
Idk, for some reason her married status made me uneasy. Although the ex was a tool, the fact that she's still lawfully bind to him and is now in a relationship with someone else makes the situation icky. I just want a clean slate for her before she associates with other people. 🙃
Also, it could be a me thing, but there were some parts of the story that were told rather than shown. And Idk, as a reader, I would rather see the actual scene than have read that it already happened. 🤷♀️ This kind of storytelling is making me lose interest in small ways.
Another issue of mine, I would've wanted to know what's going to happen to Kira now that she's finally married to Ryder, who will support her 100%. Is she going to be a teacher or baker, or a full-time wife and mom? I have no clue. 🤷♀️ There's no hint what she's going to do with her time.
Anyway, despite my minor issues above, it was really a good story. Something light but with some triggering contents, so readers have to check the author's note.
Book info: - Single dad x Single mom - Blended family - Age gap (10+) - Billionaire romance - Forced proximity - Boss x Nanny - Homeless FMC - Abandonment issue - Neglectful parent - Miscarriage (OW) - Domestic violence (against the h) - Baby trapping (done to H) - Kidnapping - No cheating, separation - No V (last: h - 6 mos, H - 2 yrs) - OMD/OWD - HEA (married)
Notes: — OWD. Ryder's gold-digging ex-wife left them 8 months ago. He didn't love her but decided to do right by her when she got pregnant the first time, even though he found out that she tampered with his condoms. She miscarried but got pregnant again with Addie. When Addie was 4 months old, she said she didn't want to be a mom, and if Ryder would pay her, she would leave them alone and sign over her rights. So he did. She came back almost a year to "get back" her family. The audacity. — OMD. Violet's father was Kira's college boyfriend, who knocked her up and signed away his rights. The OM married her but only tolerated her daughter. He came like a knight in shining armor during her vulnerable moment, and let's just say he's great at pretending to be the good guy, until Kira was swept off her feet. This abusive jerk played along with the OW because he's still looking for Kira after she left him to bring her back home. Their joint efforts led to Kira and Violet's kidnapping.

This is one of those romances you get lost in while reading 😍 I was cheering for them from the beginning, and I LOVED how he got her a body guard to her safe - UM HELLO PROTECTIVE BILLIONAIRE. One single parent trope is cute, but it was SO SWEET to see them both get their HEA 😭
Single parent trope is not my thing and I know better than to attempt it, so this review is based on my personal vices that don't work for me but may work for others.
SPOILERS!!!!!
What I didn't like:
- MMC states that he was going to break up with OW (his ex-wife) when she told him she was pregnant which left him to marry her. He was not in love with her. Then after the marriage deed was done, she had a miscarriage. He thinks he could finally get rid of her but continues to sleep with her which results in another pregnancy 3 months later and we find out that she had tempered both times with his condoms in the hopes she can have his kid so that he would marry her and she could live the rich life. Problem here I had is that he tells OW as she walks out of his life that he always knew on both times that she tempered with his condoms. So why continue to have sex with her if he didn't want to be tied down to her?
And to be more contradictory, we have several references from MMC who states that he didn't feel anything for OW/ex, yet equal amounts in which he states that all the people he ever cared for (his parents & OW), left him disappointed. Why consider OW in that category if he had no feelings for her?
And OMG! What the HELL was all that crap with him reading fictional romances and being part of a book club? Every time he read some portion to heroine I was cringing and quickly turning the page. I know there are RL men who do read romances but all I could picture in my head is my husband giving me the stink eye when ever I even suggest to him to read one! 😅😂🤣 (He thinks it's porn BTW disguised as romance! 😀 He's not wrong. LOL
- FMC is married for 99% of story and that didn't sit well with me. Yes, her hubby abused her and almost left her for dead and she had to run away from him, but she was still married and that is just a flat NO for me because she was NOT available to move on with someone else. Had it been the MMC who was married, I know we would be blasting him for it. So that had an ick factor for me for both MCs not to wait until she was free and available to start a relationship.
- Speaking of relationship, for 50% of the story, MCs are just employer/employee and friends. Nothing romantic happens other than some mild flirting, but then suddenly MMC wants more and they have sex and exchange ILY's. Scenes like that with no slow build up turn me off, and not to mention I didn't see any real chemistry with them. It was more of 2 people who were lonely and shared the same hurts of being let down by the people they married.
- Kids. The FMC's 4 yr old kid & the MMC's 8-12 month old acted & spoke like they were older than they were. Author must not have kids because my 4 year olds and 1 yr old certainly don't speak like that!
- FMC - She got pregnant in college by her BF who gave up his rights to the kid because he didn't want marriage & kids with her. She then hooks up with OM #2 who is a rich dude and marries him. There is a comment early on how she loved the rich lifestyle she had with him and that was kind of a turn off. # 2 turned out to be an abuser so now we know she doesn't have good taste in men.
Then we are told her Mother was a whore who sold her body for money but she is a good person. Why was it necessary to insert that about the Mother? Why couldn't she have been a regular hard working mom? Because all it did for me with that insertion is to think that the MMC must be wondering in the future what tricks his Mother-in-Law did. Ewe.
- MMC's relationship with FMC's kid. Am I the only one who thought he was too detached up until the end? I didn't feel any connection with him & FMC's daughter until the last 2 pages or so. At least she would do some nice things for his daughter and give her hugs & kisses, but all MMC did for 99% is allow the kid to play in his pool and eat whatever all of them wanted. 🙄
- The lame drama in the end with OW/OM getting together to kidnap H & her kid. Enough said.
Anyway, as I said this was clearly a "Me" thing because I hate the single parent trope and now I need to stay away from them for sure. 🤦
I knew I was gonna like Ryder. I was watching him hard core when I read Drunk On You and I was so excited to see him get an HEA. That skank we was trapped with had him on the ropes but I knew he had something better waiting for him.
Now in Hooked On You, we see him as a single dad of a one year old, and he is so dedicated and in tune with his little girl, Addie... He had me heart instantly. When I tell you you will swoon for this man... I am not embellishing. He was a dreamboat from start to finish.
Who could be great enough to deserve him?
Well, enter Kira. I sweet, single mom who is struggling to feed and house herself and her daughter, Violet, after they had to flee from her abusive husband. She is desperate for a job and to remain anonymous. When she lucks into a job at Kingston Limited as a Care-Giver there, she starts to take care of Addie, they begin to grow closer.
When he discovers she's not living in a safe place, he doesn't let it stand for even one minute more. He moves her in as a live-in nanny. So what if it's tempting as hell to have her under his roof? So what if she wakes up with nightmares and he reads romance novels to her to help her sleep? Seems like a good life to him.
And the absolute BEST thing about Ryder and Kira, is how they both love each other's daughters. It warms my heart to know end and made this book as endearing as ever.
The only reason this isn't quite five stars is that.. there's a bit of a suspense element near the end that I thought was strange. But overall, I will be recommending this for a long time to come.
4.5 Stars 3 on the spice scale
CW: domestic abuse, danger to a child, Child abandonment
*Thank you to the author for an ARC of this title.*
Safety warnings: - H 38 / h mid 20's? - No cheating - No OW/OM drama - Mention of miscarriage - Mention of physical abuse - Parental neglect - Kidnapping - HEA

I liked this one more than the first book of this series, but I still think it could have been better in some areas.
We met Ryder in the last book, and we knew his personal life situation was NOT ideal. He was forced to marry the girl who tricked him and got pregnant (twice). She miscarried the first one and then quickly got him again to sleep with her and get pregnant again.
He married her and after a few months of the baby being born she decides she hates this life and all she wanted was the money and she demands 50 million dollars, but she is not the brightest since he was a step ahead of her and had her sign a pre-nup and also was recording her confession and gives her 5 million and has her sign away her rights to Addie.
Fast forward to his life now and he a single father and on the side of the coin we have Kira and her little girl Violet. She ran away from her abusive husband and has been living in her car and finally found a job. She is grateful and eventually ends becoming Ryder's nanny right after and lives with him.
They slowly allow themselves to fall for each other, they have great chemistry, and they work well together.
Sadly, there are things in the background that will cause them issues and once Kira meets a woman name Marie, I KNEW I KNEW it was his ex-wife. The way she was talking to Kira and how bitter she seemed about the happiness Kira had with Ryder made me realize they are on in the same and it turned out to be true when she works with Kira's husband to find her and take her away or she would end up dead.
Thankfully she is rescued and found.
It was scary and I felt like Kira should not have trusted her after the first time ''Marie'' made comments.
I liked the fact that Ryder was celibate for a long time, the last time he had sex was the night his ex-wife got pregnant so like 2 years! It's rare sometimes for MC's in these types of books to be celibate by choice.
They get married and have been attempting to get pregnant.
She did it again!THIS WOMAN! I’ve had a lot going on in my blogger world lately so I didn’t get to this ARC until this past Sunday and gah, am I glad it was a weekend day when I started because I was sucked in and that’s all I did for ¾ of the day! Seriously, one of the best single parent romances I’ve read this year! AND, she doubled down by having two of them! STOP IT! #swoonfest
I’m also super happy it was Sunday when I read this story because both their backstories were a level of gut punch that just had me speechless and wanting to know what was next at every turn because rooting for these two doesn’t even come close to what I felt! I was invested to the point that I needed Nikki’s words like I need air. I know, crazy, but here we are. I’m looking at all my notes and highlights right now and I’m re-living this exhilarating hopeful story all over again and a few tears are escaping. So much hope! So much heart! THIS WOMAN!
And the girls …. *heart eyes*
I love Nikki’s writing so much it’s ridiculous. It hasn’t always been a hit for me, but that’s probably not on her because her track record speaks for itself! She is genuine in her writing. She is respectful to the circumstances she introduces in her stories, and she very rarely doesn’t have adults adulting properly. She’s an auto-read and/or listen for me and has been for a very long time. I don’t always keep up with her releases when they happen because, life, but you better believe all her stories are in sort of format in my device!
If you like single-parent romances that are relatable and organic and of course, well written, pick this story up! You’ll thank me!
Excuse me while I go bawl because THIS WAS EVERYTHING. Ryder the man that you are omg. The communication skills?? AMAZING. The build up? AMAZING. The entire book? AMAZING. Miss maam gets a five star just because these adults knew how to work stuff out. PEOPLE NEED TO TAKE NOTES.
I loved this book! I had not read a similar a storyline before and this was really top notch!!! I liked reading how he went for her and how he fell first and harder 😏.
What I found slightly off was that at 60% they already said I love you for the first time. When I think about it a bit longer, it's also not super weird because they had been getting to know each other and revolving around each other for a few months, but the love did go ff from 35% to 100% haha.
On the other hand, I really enjoyed this book a lot! The storyline, romance, spice and plot were really great. It read wonderfully and I couldn't stop reading. Loved it!!!
*I read this book in exchange for an honest review*
4.5⭐️ INITIAL THOUGHTS: I devoured this single dad x single mom romance in less than a day. Once I started I just could put it down. Ryder was such a great Golden Retriever MMC add in that he is the sweetest dad and ultra protective and I couldn’t stop myself from falling in love with him!
This book hit on so many of my favorite tropes and it was a treat to read!
Ryder is someone who comes from money but chose to make a place for himself in the world by working for Kingston Limited instead of his families business. He was trapped into a relationship by a woman who tricked him into getting her pregnant. He loves his daughter Addie more than anything in the world. Now he is a single dad struggling to manage work and home life. When he meets Kira and finds out just how much she is struggling financially, he asks her and her daughter to move in and be his live in nanny.
Kira has secrets, but she’ll do whatever it takes to keep her daughter Violet safe. Falling for the hot billionaire single dad wasn’t in her plans, but sometimes you just can’t fight love.
Kira and Ryder had so much undeniable chemistry. They match so well together. Kira is dealing with trauma from her previous relationships and Ryder is there to help her through it. The steam and spice were great but the scenes that really had me in a chokehold were the ones with their kiddos. Seriously, all of the family moments were so freaking SWEET!
"𝘞𝘩𝘦𝘯 𝘐 𝘭𝘰𝘰𝘬 𝘢𝘵 𝘺𝘰𝘶, 𝘐 𝘴𝘦𝘦 𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘺𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘨."
If you love double single parent romances with plenty of spicy and a dose of romantic suspense, go add 𝐇𝐨𝐨𝐤𝐞𝐝 𝐎𝐧 𝐘𝐨𝐮 𝐛𝐲 𝐍𝐢𝐤𝐤𝐢 𝐀𝐬𝐡, to your TBR today!
This was cute , I won’t rate cause I skimmed most of the book . A lot of parts seemed rushed for me .
My favorite quote🤭: “Kira,” Ryder says, glancing at me, “I don’t just have money. I have billions of dollars that I’ll never spend in our lifetime. Paying for Violet’s education won’t even make a small dent in my account. I want to take care of you both.”
Hands down one of my favorite authors. That being said, this was definitely my least favorite book by her. It stinks too bc I loved book 1 in this series but these 2 were just so unlikable and everything was so rushed and predictable.
4.5⭐️ the one other Nikki Ash book i’ve read has nothing on this one!!
i don’t think i’ve ever read the dual single parents trope before, and that’s totally my mistake bc this story was so easy to fall in love with. both of them simultaneously falling in love with each other’s kids and also one another was giving me alllllll the feels!
there were so many sweet and swoony moments, although i don’t want to mention anything too specific in this review so you can experience them authentically while reading. just know that this man might have a dirty mouth, but also the sweetest/biggest heart!
the pacing, of both the actual plot and the romantic relationship within, were perfection to me. Ryder was a top tier man and the found family was super wholesome too. I’ll 100% be reading the next one to find out who our girl Paige ends up with!
Ryder Du Ponte and Kira Miller (Williams) have each experienced some crappy situations, leaving them a little broken and distrusting. I absolutely LOVE that they take their time sizing each other up, slowly getting to know each other initially. Ryder's protectiveness when it comes to Addie is heartwarming. And despite the crap Brian put her through, I love how Kira smiles freely.
They each had a cell donor that brought their daughters into their lives. While each situation stinks, I love how they work through it to get to where they are and how they move forward together, raising adorable kids as they go. Oh, and the sizzle between them is the dirty talking good stuff with a side of breeding kink that I love.
I love how Ryder's friend group accepted Kira and Violet the way they did. The women are wonderful, supportive, and fun!
There's a twist that I saw coming, but it was interesting to see it play out. Even though I expected it, I still couldn't believe the audacity. Some people. *huff*
On another note, I will say that not only can this be read as a standalone, Nikki's highlights of a related book within the series has definitely gotten better. In some older books, I would recommend reading in series order because so much, too much, of the prior book(s) was revealed in subsequent books. Not the case here. There's enough information about Julian and Ana to not create holes without containing so much that reading their book becomes redundant. Yay! 🥳
I received an author's copy of the audio book. The narrators, Heather Costa and Gregory Salinas, are fantastic with their primary characters. I do wish this were in duet narration though.
Incredibly wooden characters and dialog. Absolutely horrendous writing. Painfully one dimensional. Zero nuance. I know what to expect from these types of books, but this scraped its way beneath the lowest bar. Wanted to DNF 5% in, but morbid curiosity about how the author would describe their conjugal relations spurred me on. It was more awful than I’d anticipated-jaw-droppingly cringey and out of nowhere. Some select inner monologue: “She could’ve died that night, but she survived. She’s a survivor.” Bleeeeeeeeh.
I was already so intrigued by Ryder from the little we saw of him in Drunk on You! Nikki gave us everything in this book!! A double single parent might be my new favorite trope now 💞
The vulnerability and love in this story was just so radiating, I could feel all of their emotions. Kira had such a big heart, and Ryder & Addie were exactly what she needed. And Violet was so freaking adorable, I loved all her scenes so much. She had so much character, and I loved how she took Addie under her wing. These were the two cutest kids I’ve read about it!
I loved how Ryder and Violet treated both kids as their own. Ryder really is the best dad, and I loved seeing that transform into his love and care for Kira as well. He’s just a protector at his core. There were parts that had me wanting to cry, but there were just as many parts that had me blushing as well!
I really was unable to put this down because it had me so intrigued from the beginning! Also, not sure I’ll eat a donut without thinking about this and those swimsuits 😂 I can’t wait for more from Nikki!
tropes - double single parent, billionaire romance, nanny romance, he falls first
she did it again!! the way nikki never writes a bad book needs to be studied. i am OBSESSED
when we met ryder in drunk on you it was so obvious that he was going through it and he really was. my guy deserved his happily ever after and i’m SO happy he got it <3 kira was so special and also deserved the world <3
this series has been great so far and i’m freakin excited to get paige’s story
The first time I ever fell in love with the single mom trope was reading one of Nikki Ash's books. She opened up a whole new world to me. And since she's become a favorite author of mine. For years I've fallen in love with the books she writes. And this one was no different.
This, however, was my first ever dual single parent romance with a single dad and single mom. Two TROPES I adore. And once again Nikki has me falling for a book trope I didn't know I could love this much! Now I wanna go hunting down all the dual single parent trope books!
I loved this book so much! Kira was such a gentle soul. Even after everything she had been through. She might have kept her armor covered. But she was a STRONG FMC willing to put her daughter first. Which was something Ryder was not used to seeing. After being baby trapped by his wife, not once, but twice. He had lost all faith in the female population. Especially giving another woman a chance. But in walks, Kira shaking his beliefs completely up!
Like Ryder, Kira had also lost faith in the opposite sex. But these two slowly teach each other what it feels like to truly have someone taking care of them and loving them unconditionally.
I loved watching their relationship grow and the way each of them cared for each other's kids. Slowly becoming one solid family unit. It was just so special to read. And Nikki did such a great job with their story!
Hooked On You: a double single parent, age gap, nanny romance is LIVE and available in Kindle Unlimited! You can also grab it in ebook, paperback, and audiobook—narrated by Gregory Salinas and Heather Costa!

Money can buy a lot of things, but it can’t buy love.
I am a sucker for a single dad romance.. but double single parents? Yes please!
Nikki is one of my favourite authors for single parent romances. She never fails and this one was a sweet, steamy, heartwarming story with all the found family warm and fuzzies. I was intrigued by Ryder after meeting him in the previous book and this gave me everything I was hoping for and more. I really love Nikki’s writing, this one was easy to read making it a one sitting read for me.
This is book two in the love + whiskey series, with Ryder who’s CFO at Kingston Limited and single dad to Addie. When he meets Kira at the company daycare centre he feels an instant attraction to her but pushes it down, not interested in a relationship after being burned by his ex wife. But when he finds Kira and her daughter sleeping in her car, he offers them a place to stay and being in close quarters makes those feelings start to rise back up. There’s only so long he can resist the pull between them…
𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘁𝗼 𝗲𝘅𝗽𝗲𝗰𝘁: single dad x nanny, single mama, age gap, billionaire, forced proximity, heroine on the run.
Kira is going through a lot during this, having fled an unsafe situation with her daughter Violet and is in major struggle town. I really admired her strength, she was such a wonderful mama and nanny to Addie. I loved the way she opened up to Ryder, worked on her healing journey and allowed herself happiness again, finding her home and comfort with him and their girls.
Now prepare to swoon because Ryder is top tier book boyfriend.. no.. husband material and I loved how he cared for, protected and supported Kira and her sweet girl, Violet. He may have denied his feelings initially but once he saw her situation he didn’t hesitate offering her a safe place to live and a job. He had been burned in the past but I loved how he let down his walls and was so steadfast in his feelings for her. He gave her patience while showing her she deserved to be treated like a queen.
There was some seriously thick and hot tension between these two and I really enjoyed their flirty banter. They had such a great dynamic and made the most beautiful blended family with their girls.
I loved the cameo’s from Julian + Ana, seeing the dynamic between them all and the friendship Ana built with Kira, along with Paige. I’m really looking forward for her story next after the breadcrumbs Nikki left for us!
single parent books will forever be a favorite of mine, and then you add a double single parent?! I have melted on the floor. this was my first Nikki Ash book and I absolutely loved it! Ryder was such an amazing dad and the love he has for Addie is so unconditional. Kira was such a strong fmc— she loved big and loved hard. I love her and Violet so much. the way that Ryder cares and empowered Kira was everything. they both had been through so much from their past— and I loved being able to watch them break down those walls and let each other in. I am so glad that they were friends first and we got to see them continue to show up for each other and their girls. I was swooning the whole time— and all I wanted to do was go back and also read book one in the series. also give me a man who reads romance AND is in a book club any day! this may of been my first Nikki book but it will not be my last.
tropes: single dad x single mom nanny romance small town billionaire age gap he reads romance & is in a book club
Tropes • nanny romance • billionaire • single dad x single mum • forced proximity • age gap
Review
I LOVED Ryder is book 1 and I was so excited for this story. Kira was the woman he deserved and more! She’d had a hard life and had been through so much. Everything she did, she did for Violet and I loved that they both finally found peace, safety and love with Ryder & Addie.
The girls were too cute 🥹 I adored both little munchkins and loved their little relationship. Seeing them each bond with both Kira & Ryder was sweetness overload!
Ryder’s backstory, like Kira’s, broke my heart. His family was the worst but I adored Gramps and loved that Ryder stood his ground and found his forever family. He really was the most incredible man, father, partner and friend all rolled into one.
Getting to see Julian & Ana again was so much fun. Kira’s friendship with Ana & Paige was so sweet and I’m looking forward to Paige’s story next! Also LOVED their book club, we love a man who reads romance 🤭
4.5 stars - I love me some single parents and nanny romance and this one did not disappoint! Ryder is a single dad to his adorable baby girl after his raggedy ex-wife gave up her rights. This leaves him in need of a nanny. Meanwhile, Kira and her daughter are on the run, and she is in desperate need of a job. What starts as Kira working for Ryder's company ultimately leads to a live-in nanny position when Ryder realizes Kira and her daughter are sleeping in their car.
Kira and Ryder's chemistry was evident, but what I enjoyed most was the merging of their families! Their daughters were adorable together and it was seamless. We do have some suspense elements that you will see coming, but those events only bring these two closer together.
It was great catching up with the couple from Drunk on You. I can't wait for the third book!
I am so bummed that I lost over 80% of the annotations I made in the e-ARC that contained things I wanted to share with you all for this review. I don't even know why or how it happened... Kindle do better.
Ryder and Kira's love story is one of those that you cannot put down. I was captivated from the beginning. It makes me sad I lost my annotations BUT it's an excuse to re-read this book, isn't it?😜 It will literally be like reading it for the first time.
ANYWHO... Ryder was such a pookie🎀 (sorry, I don't know how else to describe him right now) and he's a girl's dad through and through. He loves his baby so much and accepts Kira's daughter as his own. Get yourself a man who will STEP UP! DO NOT LOWER YOUR STANDARDS, BABES. This man hired Kira as his live-in nanny when he learned about her living conditions. After finding out about her husband (as she's running and hiding from him), he gets her a bodyguard😫 He's just so sweet. Of course, he's got his own dilemmas as a single father. His ex is the worst woman alive. Don't get me started on Kira's ex. Maybe they should have gotten together? They deserve each other.
Now, Miss Kira is so sweet herself. She's struggling with her situation and trying to stay afloat for her daughter. She's desperate to make a living in this cute little town in Texas she's found herself in. So when Ana (Drunk on You) hires her as a daycare caregiver for Kingston Limited, she cares for Addie (Ryder's daughter). That is what allows Ryder to decide about hiring her exclusively for Addie since she's the only one she's taking of any way at Kingston.
"It's okay to jump, baby. I got you."
Things are finally looking up for the both of them... or are they?

I absolutely adore Nikki’s books and Hooked on you was no exception to this. Hooked on you is book two in the Love and Whiskey series but can be tread as a standalone. After reading book 1, which was Julian and Ana’s book, I couldn’t wait to see what Ryder and Kira brought to the table. One thing that Nikki always does well is the single parent romance.
Ryder , is a single dad after his wife, whom he never loved, decided this is not the life she wanted, takes the damn money and signed over parental rights to their daughter, Addie, and leaves them both behind. He's everything a woman could want… hard working, a great dad, caring. He treated Kira’s daughter, Violet, like she was his own daughter.
Kira, is a single mom to a 4 year old girl. Violet. She left her previous life behind, escaping lan abusive and toxic relationship with her husband. She’s determined to give her daughter a good home. She loves her little girl and will protect her no matter what the cost or consequences are.
When Ryder finds out her circumstances, he offers her and Violet a place to stay, but he also hires Kira to be a nanny for Addie. Together they start bonding and become friends, eventually becoming more. Along the way they have to fight for each other bc people want to stand in their way of their happiness. But in the end Love triumphs.
What I really loved about this book was the blended family and how well it was done. It didn’t matter that Violet wasn’t biologically Ryders or that Addie wasn’t biologically Kira’s . They were family. They loved and protected their family.
Another hit from Nikki. Thank you to Enticing Journey for the advance copy.
Nikki, you have done it again with another swoon-worthy hero and story that I could not put down.
Ryder is a single dad/billionaire who falls for Kira a single mom that moves into town. They both have been dealt a hard hand in life and they are looking to just move on.
The vulnerability, love that was shown through the pages, and how they fought to rewrite their stories was Beautiful. As well as, their adorable little ones that added more to the story.
Hooked on You is book two in Nikki’s Love and Whiskey series and gives us Kira and Ryder.
This is a quick, fun read, but it felt a bit rushed to me. The twist was also predictable, and I knew what was going on and what was going to happen pretty quickly. That said, I really did enjoy the story, and I’m looking forward to reading Paige’s story next.
