Terri Blackstock is a New York Times best-seller, with over seven million books sold worldwide.. She has had over thirty years of success as a novelist.
Terri spent the first twelve years of her life traveling in a U.S. Air Force family. She lived in nine states and attended the first four years of school in The Netherlands. Because she was a perpetual “new kid,” her imagination became her closest friend. That, she believes, was the biggest factor in her becoming a novelist. She sold her first novel at the age of twenty-five, and has had a successful career ever since.
In 1994 Terri was writing romance novels under two pseudonyms for publishers such as HarperCollins, Harlequin, Dell and Silhouette, when a spiritual awakening prompted her to switch gears. At the time, she was reading more suspense than romance, and felt drawn to write thrillers about ordinary people in grave danger. Her newly awakened faith wove its way into the tapestry of her suspense novels, offering hope instead of despair. Her goal is to entertain with page-turning plots, while challenging her readers to think and grow. She hopes to remind them that they’re valued by God and that their trials have a purpose.
Some of the most engaging characters you'll meet, plus some really good suspense. Some of it didn't feel entirely realistic, but it's charming and the characters will grip your heart before you know it. Definitely read this series in order; the books build on each other.
I enjoy Terri Blackstock's books because they are full of action with lots of twists and turns. These are murder mysteries by a Christian author and they grab you right away. I don't like it when I figure everything out way before the end of the book and her writing keeps you guessing.
Blair and Morgan's parents Thelma and Wayne own a Bed & Breakfast on Cape Refuge. The town council is trying to close it down because they say that the clientele that the B&B draws is undesirable for Cape Refuge. But while their daughters, Blair and Morgan are at a town meeting to fight the city council Thelma and Wayne are murdered. Morgan's husband is the prime suspect and Cade, the Chief of Police, arrests him. Morgan knows that her husband would never have killed her parents even though Jonathan and Morgan's parents had a huge public argument earlier in the day. Thelma and Wayne have always welcomed those that need healing whether they have a past criminal record or just need a place to regroup and heal. Blair has now sworn that she will find who killed her parents and she will not allow the City Council to close the B&B if it is the last thing she ever does.
Terri Blackstock's stories are always an emotional roller coaster for me. They are filled with suspense and drama. Blair has a lot of anger pent up. She has placed a hard shell around her emotions because of scars on her face that she obtained when she was a child. She doesn't allow people to get close to her and she has forsaken her parents belief in a God who saves and loves people. She frustrated me! The secondary story of a runaway that comes to Cape Refuge was good and heart-wrenching as well. I loved how her story and Blair and Morgan's blended together to make a very exciting and tense conclusion. I thought Cade's character was pretty good and I feel bad for him trying to get close to prickly Blair, but he seems to be a patient man even though people try to make him out to be a bungling buffoon in the pocket of City Council. I'll definitely be moving on to the next book and hope to see some development in Cade and Blair's relationship. An exciting read and definitely what I have come to expect from this author.
This book was the one I’ve been waiting for. Finally Cade and Blair got married but not without a murder to make it more exciting. I only wish there was another sequel with this story line. This one had me guessing on who the suspects were. It’s not getting boring to me.
I have an apology to make to Terri Blackstock, I heard her books were mostly cliffhangers, which I never read, so I didn't buy her books even though everyone said how good she was. Then I had the chance to buy the Cape Refuge series all together so I thought I would read them as I had them all in case they were cliffhangers but they weren't. Every single book had a wonderful complete ending so instead of feeling frustrated and having the buy the next book to see what happens the book ended but because I had grown to love the characters, and because Terri's book was so well written and filled with suspense and had a beautiful Christian message flowing through it I wanted to read the next one, and the next one, and the next one, one after the other I couldn't put them down. Terri is a fabulous writer, her books are full of suspense, you almost never guess the murderer even though you think you do and they are all stand alone and absolutely a joy to read. Thank you Terri for a wonderful series of books full of God's love and grace and forgiveness and full of suspense and romance and just plain cannot put the books down. I highly recommend this series you won't be disappointed.
This is a mystery series and I thought the author did a great job building the characters and story in each book. In the River’s Edge I kind of guessed The Who dun it but the others kept me in suspense until the end. The setting was interesting since I am familiar with Tybee Island and Little Tybee that models in the authors imagination for Cape Refuge. I like that in each book of this series the characters story is unveiled a little more while introducing new characters as well. I love that she can tell the story and share Jesus in each book. I found it hard to put each book down until the end.
I didn't want this series to end. Each of the stories grabs hold right away and doesn't let go until the end and then the next book grabs hold... I loved the message of Faith, Hope and Redemption through Jesus in each of these books. Each book would remind us that there is evil in this world and things we won't understand now, but they would pray and trust in the Lord.
I was exhausted when I finished the series. From the first book until the last Blackstock moves mentally and physically through each story. The characters are true to life and Cape Refuge feels like a place I would love to visit. I consider myself a pretty good detective but by the last book I realized I was kidding myself. If you want to be kept in the edge of your seat I highly recommend this series.
I chose this book because of the author, Terri Blackstock. She is a Christian author and I have read some of her other books in other series. The books in this series focus on broken people coming into contact with the love of God and with the help of other Christians are able to turn their life around by surrendering to Jesus. There are several mysteries to be solved in the process.
I was so glad to have all of these so I didn't have to wait to go to the next book! The characters are so real, especially those who are struggling emotionally and spiritually! I could hardly wait to find out who the bad guy really was in each book! Maybe you'll be able to get it right the first time, but I had a few possibilities each time! I hope you enjoy Terri Blackstock's writing as much as I do and may you rejoice with and cry with her characters.
With the first book the characters were so endearing to me that I couldn't wait to read their story. The writing blends the love, fear, compassion, hatred, joy & sorrow Cape Refuge citizens experience as they come to know & trust Jesus as the true refuge. It's 2 am & I couldnt stop reading until I knew how the story would end.
Terri Blackstock is one of the best Christian mystery writers ever. I always enjoy reading her novels and never seem to be able to get enough. Combining four novels into one was a great idea and having them follow one small town full of interesting characters was even better.
I have long been a fan of Terri Blackstock. I have read all of her books that I am aware of and many of them twice or more. Though written by a woman men will also enjoy her writing. I can say this from experience. My son had muscular dystrophy and I used to read to him at night until he could sleep. He really enjoyed her books.
Very good series. I love that there was drama, suspense and romance. I also loved how with everything going on there was no cursing and how each book was based around a subject in the Bible, how it bought clarity on some of these subjects like God always being with you or fortune telling etc. I would recommend this series.
I read through all 4books back to back. Kept thinking I'd get to a good stopping place but it was just too mesmerizing to put down. I want to move to Cape Refuge and become a part of the Hanover House family. A continuation of some of the characters would be great. Morgan and Gus, Joe and Shelia...... I'll be waiting!
Terri Blackstock has a way of keeping you guessing until the very end! All the while incorporating a powerful message of hope and redemption through Christ. I have yet to read a book of her’s that I didn’t love!!
As always Blackstock did not disappoint. This series got off to a slow start in the first 2 or 3 chapters of the first book then after that I was hooked and have read them all in less than 2 weeks.
Terri Blackstock is my all time favorite author. All of her books catch your interest right away & she holds your interest throughout! She NEVER disappoints. Awesome from start to finish! Can't get enough of her work.
I became so entwined in the lives of the characters i had a terrible time putting down the books to get anything else done. Very good. Heartwarming. With twists of mystery. All glued together with faith and the love of Christ.
I may have read this series along time ago but decided to read it again. I love any books by Terri Blackstock. I couldn't put it down, I have stayed up late and probably lost a bit of sleep I had to finish it. Haha
This book is worth every penny I paid for it. My home is Brunswick, GA and I am familiar with the island . I truly got a kick of knowing this area. Job well done ! !
I love this author and the towns and characters she creates but the constant murders got to be a bit much in this series. No small town has that many serious crimes that close together.
These are the first books that I have read from Terri Blackstock. These had plenty of suspense, including murder and kidnapping, lots of God and Bible verses, and a bit of romance thrown in! I would definitely recommend reading
This book collection was awesome. I cried, I laughed, I praised God, and the suspense kept me on the edge of my seat. I had a hard time putting the books down. They were wonderful and ended on a happy note.
