With her, I never stood a chance. Neither did she.
Settling down had never even crossed my mind before I laid eyes on her. Survival had always been the goal until I could get my legs under me. Now, I rule my empire that was built on my own blood. I’ve fought for everything I have, and Willa will be no exception. I won’t rest until she’s mine, forever.
In my shadowy world, there is nowhere for her to hide. Not when her bright light is so easily seen in all the darkness that surrounds me. She so innocently walked right into my life, looking for a taste of a world unlike her own. My sweet girl wants freedom, and I decide I will be the one to give her whatever her little heart desires.
Knowing I will never be able to let her go, I devise a plan that will tie her to me forever. I should feel guilt for what I’m going to do. For tricking her into believing me, into marrying me, and most of all, into loving me.
I will claim her and bring her into my world as mine, consuming her until all she can see is me. Nothing will keep me from what belongs to me, including my new sweet wife.
Welcome to Lighthouse Landing, a place filled with brooding heroes and sweetly sassy heroines covered with innocence. All these heroes are fiercely in pursuit of claiming their women and giving them their happily ever afters… and a little extra. *wink*
If you're looking to pick up the basics of how to get murdered, Willa's got you covered on that front. 🫣😅
Anyhoo, putting aside her questionable choices, I just don’t think this story is my cup of tea. And that's saying something, because I normally enjoy this author's stories.
But having a grown man lust after or get obsessed with an 18-year-old high school student is never going to work for me. (Probably with the old me, because back then I didn't have freaking standards with books that I read. But now? I can't stomach it.)
On top of that, the itty-bit glorification of her innocence gave me a permanent ick. "I didn't know you could taste innocence, but it dripped off her p*s*y, and I lapped up every drop all for myself." Like bruh, wth is wrong with you?? 🤧
At least he had some realization that he was a bit f*cked up when he said this line. "My wife is still in high school. There has to be something wrong with me." You don't say, dude?? Why did you even marry her in the first place? 🥲
Like I said, I’ve always been a fan of this author’s books, but I seriously thought about putting this one down more times than I can count.
Please don't do this kind of pairing again. Don't pair a high school student with grown adults; that's just so messed up. 😭
P.S. I felt this way in the first book too, but I still kept going. Now? I honestly wish I didn't. Despite my issues with the first two books, I still want to read Rich's novella, and I'm hoping that one will be the saving grace of this series.
I think it is DV? (hesitant on doing a happy dance....) Safe No OM/OW No cheating No separation No gross condom use No stupid third act break up HEA
We have a definite virgin heroine, never been kissed, but no definite confirmation on the H. It is not explicitly said but all the context clues in his inner monologue sway me to believe that he may be a virgin hero. I will mention quotes that hint at his status, but we never get that thrilling, satisfying exchange between them that he is all hers. We get A LOT of him claiming her innocence but it is never reciprocated and that bothered me. I am going to list quite a few quotes that tells me he could be a virgin hero but I am not sure. Here is one of many.
Quote, I pass by a small crowd of women dressed to the nines, not leaving anything to the imagination. Their heels click loudly on the concrete floor. I always hate that sound. It reminds me of the strip clubs and being a kid in the back while my mom worked. Whenever I saw those heels, I knew it meant it was time for her to go to work. The girls were sweet to me, but that shit still fucked with my head and could turn my stomach..... I just walked past a room of half-naked women and nothing. Princess here isn’t showing ankles or wrists, and I’m hard as fuck. end quote
There is so much emphasis on him claiming her innocence that I wish he reciprocated by at least telling her that she is his one and only. That is the magic that is lacking. I wish that he made it clear in his inner monologue, but it is a bit cryptic, or I am reading in between the lines too much. Throughout my read I had doubts nagging me it isn't DV, and that dulled my enjoyment of the book. This was a quick read. We meet again Vasily King, owner of an underground fighting ring and nightclubs, who has had a bad start in life. He dropped out of high school to fight and earn money, to then invest and making himself a rich man. His childhood was bleak because being around his stripper mother and her friends, the smell of sex made him sick to his stomach and he carried that disgust into adulthood. His mother protected him physically and provided for him, and the other strippers were kind to him when he was a kid, for which he was grateful, but he could not stand being around that scene. He is surrounded by beautiful, half naked women cheering the fighters, but it does nothing for him. Until Willa. Willa is a sweet, shy bookworm who wants to break out of her shell and rebel, experience life and it's thrills. She meets Vasily King in the last book (West and Teddy's story, a DV I loved), and stuck by him like glue. He is forward and intense, she wants him and he is happy to let her experience many thrills with him.
Quote, “You wanted to find yourself.” “And I can do that with you?” She places her hand into mine, and I pull her to her feet. She may not realize it yet, but I will be the only one she will be finding herself with. I’ll be her first and last everything. “We can do it together.” end quote
I wish this quote included a simple, 'and she will be my first and last everything as well'...it made me sigh in disappointment that he keeps mentioning that she will experience all her firsts with him, but we don't get that satisfaction that HE is HERS in return. We do get the part when he says, 'We can do it together', as in finding themselves and experiencing new things together? That is what I hope he means, but it remains ambiguous. The next quote, makes me believe he never had a girl in his bed before, like he discovered with Willa that he is a cuddler, which perked me up and made me smile.
Quote, “You’re a cuddler.” I am, too, except it’s normally with a pillow. “It seems so.” He kisses the tip of my nose before pushing up from the bed. end quote
Quote, We kept ourselves focused on our work. We never let pussy control us. I could see how easily men could flip their whole world apart over it. Destroy their families and livelihoods. I’d watched that shit as a kid. I guess you have to find the one worth it all. That’s what Willa is. end quote
When they first have sex, why could he not tell her she is his one and only as well? That would have sent this story over the top, but we did not get that satisfaction. It felt one sided when it comes to that, even though I am fairly certain she is his first, I wanted to hear it from him telling her or at least in his inner monologue.
Quote, “You’re the one always saying the sweet stuff.” I wrap my arms around him. “Only for you.” Vasily brushes his mouth with mine. “I’m married but still a virgin.” I snort a laugh. “I wasn’t going to have you forget our first time together.” end quote
Quote, I should be on cloud nine. I spent the day between my girl's thighs, loving her in a way I never have and never will love another. She is it for me. I can still smell her on me, taste her. end quote
Quote (his friend Anton teasing Vasilly King for falling for a woman), “Don’t do that. I really was only fucking with you. It's not like you have a thing for young girls and have been fucking them.” I shoot him a glare. “In fact, I was starting to wonder if you had a type.” “My wife is my type.” “Clearly. You really have never done anything halfway, have you?” “Nope, I’m all in or out.” It’s how I have always been... “But like I’m saying, don't let that shit eat at you. You aren’t the men that used to hang out at your mother’s strip clubs.” “Don’t go there.” That’s the last thing I want to think about. The smell of sex used to make me want to throw up. The club my mom worked at always smelled of it. With Willa it's different. I could bathe in her smell. end quote
There is also an area in his warehouse where the fighters go to fuck women. It was meant to be a hospital to tend to their wounds post fight. He never indulged in those rooms and he had them cleaned, giving us more insight to his disgust of sex due to his past growing up in a strip club. I love the addition in this quote that it surprised people that he has a woman on his arm, so it makes me believe that he just wasn't interested in women until Willa. With all the other context clues put together, I am fairly certain she is his first, at least I would like to read it that way and not overthink.
Quote, The bedrooms had been meant for if someone needed to crash or had gotten hurt, and we needed a doctor to watch over them, but things aren't as wild as they used to be. Thankfully, I never found myself in one—for a doctor or a pussy. Think they might need a doctor after how some of them burn through women, but that's their business, not mine. I lean down and kiss the top of Willa’s head, breathing in her sweetness. I’ve got all I could ever want right here. Willa might be shy and innocent, but she lights up with only a few touches, and I’ll be the only one to ever get to do that fucking shit to her. A few people turn and glance my way as we pass, hiding their surprise that I have a woman on my arm. end quote
The story is simple. Willa is a shy, bookish girl who wants to break out of her shell and do things out of her comfort zone. Vasily is happy to do that with her with a plan in his head to make her his forever, so it is them spending time at the club, on board his yacht, making out, having sex, him sneaking in her bed, them riding on his motorcycle and them confronting her twin Rich (he gets his story next). There is a rushed, brief reveal to do with her father. I hope it is developed in Rich's story but I am so glad that Willa did not push Vasily King away, but pulled him close to hug him, expressing her thanks. I wish that scene went a bit longer. I loved how Willa broke out of her shell, how she is more confident yet remained her shy self. I love my shy heroines, so I am glad that this part of her personality is enhanced in a cute way and celebrated with the approving eyes of her man. Her shyness is endearing and makes me think she is like a little fairy flitting hither and dither, under the protective gaze of her tatted giant. I love how deeply Vasily loves her and instantly gives her what she wants without question. He is sneaky this tattooed hunk of a man! He knew when he laid eyes on her that he wanted her forever, so he devised a plan to make it so. The tattoo he got in exchange for her marrying him, was so OTT I loved it! His protective nature and the fact that he felt something different in the air, only to know that his whole reason for being is right in front of him, made me adore the man. He never wavered in his intense feelings since he first laid eyes on her and neither did she! There was no pushing away, and that is how I like my lovebirds. All in all I enjoyed it but I wish he had expressed without doubt that he never had a woman before Willa. That is my main complaint and it dulled my enjoyment of the book slightly. I hope that Rich's book is a definite DV. Lucy Darling has gifted us with back to back DV books, so I am going to consider this a DV, but I hope that in her future books, she gives us what she has in her past few books, the much needed satisfaction of her heroines claiming her man, knowing without doubt that no woman has ever been with him in any way. Lucy Darling could have taken Vasily's past and have him share it with Willa. This would have given him a golden opportunity to tell her that he was never interested in women because of his past, until meeting her. I wish we had something like, 'she is my first as well', or 'I have never touched a woman before you', or 'I will claim all your firsts, and in return I gift you all of mine', or 'It's my first time Vasily'...'it's mine too princess' and her eyes light up; Something like that that makes it a definite DV. We don't get that though, and that is the bit of magic that is lacking. I hope Lucy Darling gifts us a DEFINITE DV couple in Rich's story, and all her future books. I did not enjoy it as much as the first book in the series, but I still recommend it and I cannot wait for the last book in this trilogy! It's Rich's story next, and he plucks a woman out of a fishing net. Intriguing. Happy reading!
Dove right into this one, I’m loving this series and every book hits the spot! Insanely possessive and OTT heroes who fall HARD for the quirky, innocent and vulnerable heroines who bring them to their knees!
Safe. No mention of heros past, but it was explicit that he wasnt a manwhore, never seen with women. Heroine is a virgin and belongs only to her hero, gives him the gift of claiming all of her firsts for himself. No ow/om. No cheating or sharing. Hea with epilogue years out
It was too sweet compared to the first book. I was just thinking it would be a tad more dark. Willa could sleep only with Teddy and was super traumatised from her father in the previous book. Here no such problem.
Vasili and Willa story is fast-paced. They met, fell in love, and got married. The problem? Vasili, a dark grey character, killed Willa's father. Vasili fears the moment his darling wife finds out his darkness secret. Come and find out. Recommended
Lately, all the novellas from my favorite, and most importantly, safe authors have been disappointing me. Lately, I've been reading them all through my fingers. As for this particular novella, do you really think that showing a young, innocent eighteen-year-old girl a taste of life means getting her drunk to the point of unconsciousness, rolling her in the dirt of a nightclub, where the main character apparently goes to look at half-naked strippers (which is strange, because he's been sick of all this since childhood), putting her on his lap in front of his people like a cheap whore... If you value her innocence and purity so much, why would you want to dirty her with all this dirt? In his place, a loving man would decide to show her the world, take her to the most beautiful countries, give her better memories, rather than just getting an almost underage girl drunk and putting her naked in his bed. Throughout the book, there were also flashes of dressed up half naked women in the background, who probably hang around the main character day and night. Is that great? No. Would it be great for the main character to continue seeing them around her husband all her life? No, damn it. Sorry for the broken English, translated via Google Translate.
Back to Lighthouse Landing! This series makes me happy. An island with nooks to explore.
As soon as bookish Willa faced notorious King at a fight club in the first book, I knew their story was worth reading.
It's short, sweet and loving, with plenty of hot times to boost. This dark business man in the shadows falls under the spell of love as soon as he sees lovely and innocent Willa.
It absolutely thrills me that he is so protective and possessive of her. She cares for the brother's wellbeing, but she's also on the lookout for some adventure outside her little box in life. He provides all of her dreams and desires while keeping her safe, and also his!
I liked the secret he carried and how she reacted to the truth, but I would have liked to see how it happened. It was a great plot twist. Will we see it in the third novella about Rich? Crossing my fingers for that.
I have read book one and 2 can’t wait for the 3ed to come out both books so far where fantastic and I love that I could read book 2 in one day I hate books that drag out the story for far to long because I find I get a bit bored with the book then but these books had every think and I couldn’t wait to read book 2 of the series it had me hooked that it took me one day to read it can’t wait for book 3 I just hate that I have to wait 3 or 4 weeks until it’s out I have pre ordered can’t wait as theses books where so good I am going to look at the authors other books to find some other books to read until book 3 comes out can’t wait!!!!
Another fun addition to the Lighthouse landing series that is good to read back to back with book one for the ultimate experience. Willa and Vasily(King) were so insta love, and I loved that for them but I do wish we got some more time with their characters to properly feel them out. They were so sweet on each other and that was my favorite part. The steamy scenes didn’t hurt either lol! Just kind of felt like I needed a little more from the story. I need book three so we can have the complete picture, and I feel like that will make the storyline more entertaining for me. Still this was an enjoyable and quick read if you’re in the insta love mood.
Book 2 in the Lighthouse Landing series and I’m quite enjoying it. King kinda rules all lol (just look at the name). But he’s completely taken instantly by a cutesy looking woman who he feels a need to protect (and possess 😏) Willa is wanting to find herself, her likes & what she wants. She feels safe with King, and gets to explore and try all sorts of new things. I loved their story, and can’t wait for Rich’s next
This is book 2 in the lighthouse landing series and I loved it. When Vasily King meets Willa for the first time he knows he has to have her. Vasily King not only loves Willa he’s obsessed with her. One weekend and he’s married Willa. But her brother Rich may have something to say about that. Loving this series, steamy hot, morally gray men you fall in love with and their innocent women.
Willa is trying to figure out who she really is for herself and King wants to help her out along the way. This is and insta love story with a grumpy and possessive male lead. I love every minute of this book and I just knew I would love Willa's story.
I love this one! Although it can be read on its own, I do recommend reading the story before this one so you have the background on King and Willa. These two opposites are perfect for each other! I love how protective of her he was right from the very first moment he met her. And that epilogue was absolutely perfect!
King and Willa hit it off instantly. She needs to be rebellious and he is a willing participant who will give her anything she needs. He is head over heels for Willa and needs her to fall for him so she won't leave him when she finds out that he did. He won't lose her so he will play dirty to keep her forever.
These two are perfect for each other. I loved their story. It was so good! Willa wanted freedom from her monotonous life and King was able to give her that while keeping her safe. Ugh! It was amazing! I loved every second of it and wasn't able to put my kindle down. I can't wait for Rich's story.
Willa and Vasily, I enjoyed their story (I had to pretend she was older, 18 year old high school student is usually one I avoid). Willa is a strong young lady. Vasily sees her and that’s it for him…she is the one! Some angst, lots of passion, good communication and a great epilogue.
Second book of the Lighthouse Landing series. Willa has always lived protected by everyone, she is sweet and innocent, but she is determined to experience things that she would never have done before. King lives in a dark and hard world, but when he meets Willa his light attracts him and decides to claim her as his own, but there are secrets that could keep them away.
I am loving the Lighthouse Landing series! King and Willa are an unlikely pair - and yet they are absolutely meant to be and perfect together. King, who is definitely a bad*ss becomes the biggest cinnamon roll for Willa. The way he cares for her and takes care of her is just everything! Short and sweet and fast moving and steamy.
Vasily King has fought for everything he has in life and now he gets to be the "King" in his world. When he lays eyes on sweet innocent Willa he knows he will make her his but he wants her to want to be his. This is a great read!
"You Know I Love You" is the story of Willa and King.
Insta love romance between 18 year old sweet heroine and big bad older hero. Loads of chest beating possessiveness and sex amidst a dramatic backstory.
WOW! I love, love King and Willa, they were made for each other! Such a powerful, wonderful and beautiful love story! Soo soo good and soo soo H.O.T I absolutly loved it, can't wait for Rich and Fallon's story! 😍❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🥰
If you’re looking for short and sweet, this book is it. King and Willa are adventurous, kind to each other, and protective of their loved ones. It’s low drama and features an alpha-obsessed hero and an innocent heroine. Happy reading!
This one had a major plot twist. Absolutely loved Willa from Teddy’s book, so I couldn’t wait to read her HEA. King was perfect for her, he was full charge ahead but still made her feel free to live it up a little. Loved the ending
