Giliosthay has barely survived Rusceon’s wrath, but Athdar and friends are now bound for Rusceon’s royal city and the ending of curses. But with the princesses turned to glass, Giliosthay vulnerable, Lakat in danger, and the friends split up without Thea’s Wind Rush to bring them together, it will take all the courage, cleverness, and love of the Silver Guard and Friends to defeat Prince Cerav once and for all.
You know those series that you follow and anticipate for years and the ending was everything you'd hoped it would be, but now you're done and don't know what to do with yourself? This series and this conclusion was that for me! Let's just say I vacuumed one-handed with my kindle in the other because I couldn't put it down. It has been a long time since I was so absorbed in a book!
Thank you, EJ Kitchens, for the time, effort, dedication, and persistence it took to create this series with incredible world-building, fantastic characters, and such an intricate magic system. Even though this particular series has been completed, I am looking forward to more set in this world!
(I happily volunteered to read a complimentary advance reader copy and chose to review it with my own opinions.)
Wow! What a fitting, epic, and satisfying conclusion to the series!
I have loved this series and especially its cast of characters from the beginning. I love that the author has stayed true to each character and yet allowed them to grow and mature throughout the series. This book is no different as we have more POVs and yet it does not divide the story, but instead brings more character growth and perspective. The book is fast paced (despite being a big book) and action packed and draws you in from the very beginning.
It is always hard to say goodbye to characters you love, but each one has a fitting ending with plenty of redemption, humor, and love. I am excited to read future books wrapping up side characters.
One of my favorite scenes: the Silver Guard and Friends teasing Murray about the potential of a child coming along now that he is married :)
I would highly recommend this series! One of my favorites of all time!
4.5 stars One of the best retellings of the 12 Dancing Princesses ever! It's so good!
I'm going to review the entire series together. I truly enjoyed the entire saga. There were times where I was overwhelmed by the sheer vastness of characters. With all of them talking at once, I was confusing at times. The stories were stellar! We follow Thea and Athdar all the way to the conclusion of the curse. Yes, it takes until the very last book. Totally worth it! You must read book 2.5 to understand 3-5. It's mandatory. You'll miss so much in this nugget if you skip it. Each book takes place in the realm of the 12 Dancing Princess story from book 1. There is so much to unpack here. I will not do the series justice. The world-building is absolutely amazing. It took me a while to unpack this series because it was dense. However, once I completed it, I am very happy to have read it! Great, great series!!
An epic and thrilling conclusion to the saga! So much adventure and danger and twists and turns…. I’m sure I can’t do the story justice in a review without giving spoilers, so I’ll just say that this final book was so epic and satisfying. It tied up so many threads and gave some POV and page time to characters that I had wondered about and it was satisfying and beautiful to see them grow along their arcs.
I absolutely loved everything about this final chapter in the series… except for the fact that it was the end. I never like saying goodbye… and these characters all reside in my heart now. I will definitely be re-reading this series again in the future, just so I can go on all these adventures again!
The “war” finally reaches Rusceon!—5 stars I loved this book! The allies finally make it to Rusceon after many magical adventures. There are some exciting romantic and magical moments and several surprises. Some former enemies become friends and allies, and some enemies get what they deserve. Problems and frustrations get resolved. Finally! This was a very long book, but well worth the time. The creativity of the magic was excellent. This book would make a great epic movie or miniseries. It will be hard to leave behind the worlds of Athdar and Thea and their families and allies. I received an ARC copy from the author.
Absolute show-stopper ending to the series. It's been a great ride with adventure, secret identities, humor, magic, danger and romance.
The characters are old friends, with the addition of some new ones. Plenty of HEAs for our favorites. And hints of more to come in new series. And the author promises future stories for Xander and Ariadne! Yay!
This is it. The ending I have been dreaming of for this spectacular series. With a climatic clash of powers, and so many beautiful things pulled from so many broken places, it was just what I wanted- down the the surprises in the last chapter. 👌🏽
And, what may have made me happiest of all was the hope that one day we will see Cerav again, and those little seeds of change will have grown.
A nice conclusion to the series I enjoyed that tied up most of the loose ends while leaving space for more books in the world (what those more books would be is spoiler talk). One star removed because at times the vast numbers of characters can get confusing and paging forward to a character list can be tiring to remember who is who.
I loved this series and the finale was perfect. E.J Kitchens does a beautiful job with character development and this book was a perfect ending to the series. Would highly recommend this book and series to anyone who enjoys action filled scenes. This book and series kept me coming back for more!
Love this series, these characters, and this author! I’ve been following this series for YEARS and this was the conclusion and finale I was waiting for!
An extraordinary work. After reading this series for the second time in two years, I can say with complete certainty that I haven't read anything better. And I have read many, many books. This is so complex, it’s almost impossible to grasp. So full of light, it's almost blinding. And so bursting with love in so many different forms. There are no flat characters here. Not a one. And not a dull moment from start to finish. Even the most minor characters are so lovingly detailed. Frankly, it was almost too exhilarating at times. I don't understand why this author isn't famous. She's got the sort of talent bestselling authors could only dream of. I just wish I knew for sure that more books in this world were being written. With action scenes that get your heart racing, sparkling clean romance that's mature in the only way that matters, magical systems that make you think, and a world brimming with life in all its tangled, terrible beauty, this series is what good fiction should strive to be.
