Catherine Oni

4 books12 followers
Catherine Oni is a young-ish woman married to a brave soul who voluntarily chose to spend the rest of his life with her and is the mother to two perfect tiny human beings. Even though she is a born-and-bred New Yorker, she decided she wanted her family to be raised as Nutmeggers and they reside in a small, bougie town of Ridgefield, CT.
Catherine transitioned from being the most chill High School English Teacher to an exhausted stay-at-home mother and author. Catherine created her story and characters by going against the grain and shining a light on all the triggers and traumas that life has to offer.
She finds comfort in using dark humor and sarcasm to navigate through awkward situations. Catherine is unapologetically fierce, bold, and beautiful. She does not believe in the Biggie-ism of the sky being the limit and will continuously strive to make every dream a reality. The struggle between loving and hating carbs, coffee, and all things sweet are ongoing, but love always prevails.

I couldn’t really connect with the characters (especially the FMC).

The depiction of raw emotions, trauma, and familial issues were prevalent and while it was truly a greatly done in the text, the FMC was so vexing and unreasonable that it disconnected me from the text. The ending also pissed me off greatly and made me dislike her.

Catherine Oni's writing is so very raw and so very real. She brings to life characters that deal with real life everyday challenges with self, others and the world that brings a level of deepness that is just real. I didn’t expect the level of rawness in this book, it was such a good palette cleanse from other genres I’ve been reading.

However, I did feel that the pace of the book was a bit inconsistent where it seemed fast in some areas and very drawn out in others. It takes me longer to get through a book when some chapters are drawn out like that, but it didn’t detract from what she was trying to get through. I can see that she was trying to really give readers a more indepth feel depending on the message and scene that was playing out.

BUT beside that this book is so relatable, the grief, the childhood trauma from toxic family members and her journey to overcome her struggles. Pushing herself beyond the uncomfortable feelings of guilt and shame for setting boundaries she’s never had before. The challenges when it comes to healing and self-discovery all while building a healthier lifestyle and relationship with herself in order to give the best life for her child. The challenges of also being a single parent balancing loss, enforcing boundaries, something many of us struggle with, dealing with toxic family members and the workplace, as well as rediscovering love. Bottomline, this book is a very emotional read that’s well worth putting into perspective that we’re not alone in our everyday life challenges.

I had a good time reading He Is Enough! Catherine Oni’s writing is so heartfelt, and I loved how deeply this story explored love, faith, and self-worth. The characters felt incredibly real, and their emotions hit me right in the feels. I was rooting for them the whole time, and seeing their journey unfold was so rewarding!

One of my favorite things about this book was how it tackled personal growth and the idea of being ‘enough’ not just for someone else, but for yourself. The romance had so much depth, and I loved how emotionally charged the interactions were.

Now, I gotta be honest, the chapters were LONG. Like, really long. And I’m someone who prefers shorter chapters to keep the pace moving, so it did slow me down a bit. But despite that, I still enjoyed the story and the powerful message behind it.

Overall, He Is Enough is such a thoughtful and emotional read. If you love faith-centered romances with strong character development and a meaningful message, I totally recommend checking this one out! 💕

The story follows Christine, a single mother navigating the weight of grief after losing her boyfriend while dealing with the pressures of family expectations and personal struggles. Her pain feels raw and real, making her journey all the more powerful.
It is a deeply emotional and beautifully written journey of love, loss, and self-acceptance
What makes this book stand out is how it handles healing. Christine isn’t magically “fixed” by love—her growth is her own, but love becomes the safe space that allows her to embrace herself fully. When she meets Ayo Daddy, a man who sees her in all her strength and vulnerability. Their relationship unfolds in a way that feels natural and deeply romantic, proving that love after loss is not only possible but can be even more profound the second time around.
Also smut was spot on for me and I was 🫠🫠🫠

I was sooo invested in the characters of this book as the author had such a way of making them come to life. Their emotions, struggles, and growth felt so real and relatable, making it difficult to put the book down. The spicy scenes were also fun to read and will surely make you blush. The main character’s journey was compelling and layered, with moments of vulnerability that truly resonated with me. I’m looking forward to reading more from this talented author, as her ability to craft authentic, emotionally rich characters is something rare and special!

This book was such an emotional read for me as I related to the FMC on such a personal level. Loving yourself is hard, loving yourself as a mother and a single one stat that is hard, allowing someone else to love you when you don’t love you, is hard.
If you are wanting an emotional but healing journey I’d recommend picking up this book. The chapters are pretty long but push through because the end result is worth it.

This story of grief is so deeply vulnerable and raw that it brought tears to my eyes multiple times.

Christine is grieving the loss of her life's love, Gabriel. Soon after his death, she learned she was pregnant with his baby. Now, Christine is working to raise her son, process her grief, and break the generational trauma she deals with on a daily basis.

Enter Ayotunde. The man Gabriel has chosen for Christine to be her life's partner and love. Ayo loves Christine's son as his own and these two work to accept one another exactly as they are and to support each other in pursuit of their dreams and mutual goals. Ayo is also a hot dom who is willing to switch once in a while too. 👀🥵

There were some things that I had a hard time with in this book. We don't meet Ayo until about 45% of the way through and there were points I felt like this dragged unnecessarily or included too much that wasn't needed. For example, the descriptions of every meal, the way it's cooked, what each person orders, etc. seemed excessive and repetitive. Same with songs. At times it felt like I was just reading someone's playlist. I learned I'm also not a fan of the terms: "wanting spot" and "spongey goodness" in sex scenes. Anyway, my difficulties came down to length due to unnecessary detail in some places. But this story was beautifully told and I loved this couple.
