The Timberbridge Brothers #4

Midnight Between Us

Rate this book
I thought I buried him with the rest of my past. The secrets. The ache. The night everything fell apart.

But now Keir Timberbridge—the traitor, the boy I once loved more than life—is back. Barely alive. In my care. With no memory of who I am or what he did to me.

I should walk away. Hell, I tried. But I’m the only one who can keep him hidden, keep him alive.
This town still thinks I’m the girl who let him go. No one knows the truth—about the letters or what it cost me to survive.

Now we’re playing house in the ruins of what we once were: me, a doctor with too many scars, and him, the man who vanished without a goodbye. We sleep in separate rooms. Share meals like strangers. And every time I look at him, I remember the boy who made promises at midnight... and the man who shattered them by morning.

Because loving Keir Timberbridge was always going to destroy me.

And I might let it again.

As mentioned, this is the fourth book about four brothers, 3 full and one half brother who were raised by a monster whose main way of dealing with his sons was beating the shit out of all of them to the point they were unable to form any kind of bond with each other. Their mother was a good woman who died before the book opens. They loved their mother but didn’t understand why she stayed with such a monster. As this is a romantic suspense, there is an evil syndicate who wants their land and timber business as a way to get a foothold in the amperage in order to launch all kinds of illegal businesses.

This is Keir Timberlands story. Keir is the second oldest and the only brother to escape. But he left behind his young girlfriend Simone and broke both their hearts. They haven’t seen each other since he left and her love has turned to hate. She is now a doctor and living in the small town she was looked down on because of her tramp of a mother.near the beginning of the book she is called to a car accident. There is no driver but they do find someone in the trunk, tied, beaten and almost dead. It’s none other than Keir who has become caught up in the machinations of the syndicate. Simone is also involved with the network fighting them and is ordered to take care of Keir.

But since this is also a romance, things shift to Simone and Keir and how they handle their complicated relationship. I found this to be an edge of your seat book and hard to put down. At the same time it was very emotional and drew me deeply into the story. The tension was amazing so I also had to take breaks while reading these scenes. And the romance was so well done. Keir and Simone really did need each other for what they were each going through. I’m thinking this review is a bit all over the place. But that’s because this is the fourth book with an overarching storyline. I think it absolutely needs to be read in order.

This one gets a strong recommendation from me if you are a fan of romantic suspense.

" I need her. I need her lips on mine like I need oxygen, like I need absolution. Like I need someone to reach in and pull me out of the wreckage I've been surviving in since the day I walked away from her." - Kier Timberbridge

This is the fourth book in Claudia Burgoa's gripping series, The Timberbridge Brothers. It's a poignant second-chance romance novel that explores the enduring nature of first love, sacrifice, and redemption. It follows Kier Timberbridge and Simone Moreau, former childhood sweethearts reunited by fate after almost 20 years.

A succession of flashbacks from their past is intercut with the present as the story develops. One day, Simone, who had been assigned to lead the clinic in the small town of Birchwood Springs, was called upon to help with a patient who needed medical attention. To her shock, she discovered that Kier was the centrepiece of the case and that he was battling for his life after being the victim of a murder attempt.

Living with a violent father as a teenager, Kier finds comfort in Simone's affections. But a terrible situation involving Kier's violent father made him decide to leave the small town without saying goodbye to protect her. As adults, Kier is a prosperous CEO of his business, and Simone is now a medical professional. Their youthful passion and the emotional complexity of their reunion are skillfully juxtaposed in the book to produce a narrative that is both nostalgic and thought-provoking.

"He looked at me today like he was still mine. And for a second, I wanted to believe it. I wanted to forget everything and just let myself want him again." - Simone Moreau

One of the authors I respect for creating angsty novels is Claudia, and this one is no exception. Both the depth of unresolved pain and steadfast love have been portrayed by Simone and Kier's characters. As you read about their journey apart, you can feel it vibrating off the pages. Given the gravity of Kier's profound sorrow and certainty that he doesn't deserve a second shot, as well as Simone's despair and rage, you may occasionally doubt if this pair will have a happy ending and a second chance.
Furthermore, that ember of chemistry continues to be, and it has been gradually growing as they spend more time together. This book has only one spicy scene because the plot primarily focuses on Kier and Simone's healing and gradual reconciliation. In my opinion, it is both logical and reasonable for the plot.

Similar to the majority of small-town romance books I've been devouring over the past few months, this one, too, combines the characters' romance with an aura of intrigue and suspense. The primary plot of the Timberbridge Brothers series—identifying the syndicate's heir and dealing with it with Finnegan's assistance—continues. It's something to keep up that excitement for the upcoming book.

Midnight Between Us encapsulates the essence of Claudia's narrative with its expansive romance and profound emotional depth. It merges heartbreak, love that is not limited by time or place, and nostalgia. A love letter to surviving relationships and the endurance of forgiveness, too.

I voluntarily read an Advance Reader Copy and am sharing my honest review based on my personal experience. Thank you to Claudia and her Team for trusting me to read this beautiful novel in advance.

I have absolutely loved this series and the Timberbridge brothers. This book was no different.

This story was between Simone and Kier. Simone has not seen Kier since they were teenagers and he broke her heart when he left he. And now, she’s the one in charge of keeping him alive and safe. The emotions are running high and all over the place. Secrets are revealed and man was this one an emotional rollercoaster. I was fighting back tears left and right. Kier needed to heal himself and not just from the beating he received, but mentally too.

Simone and Kier had to fight for their second chance at their HEA together. It was a slow burn, but it was so worth it in the end. This was one that could not be rushed. There was so much hurt and anger that had to be worked out and be forgiven from all those years ago.

Twists and turns, more revealed about their father, secrets revealed, emotional rollercoaster, and a beautiful love story all wrapped in one.

ⓐⓤⓓⓘⓞ ⓣⓗⓞⓤⓖⓗⓣⓢ
Jason and CJ always do an amazing and outstanding job and they nailed it again. They really brough the emotion with this book. I could feel the characters emotion through their voice and it was perfection.

4 Star Review Midnight Between Us (The Timberbridge Brothers #4) by Claudia Burgoa

eBook/Audio:
The fourth book in the latest series from Claudia Burgoa and was a good addition to The Timberbridge Brothers series. Although this is my least favourite of the series it was an entertaining and well written read/listen.

This is Keir and Simone’s second chance at love story. Told from the past to the present it made for an emotional story.

As secrets are revealed their lives are impacted in ways neither expected.

The narration by Jason Clarke and CJ Bloom brought this fantastic story and characters to life with their performances and I found myself listening well into the night.

Ms. Burgoa wove a story that the narrators certainly did justice too.

I enjoyed this second chance romance. Probably my second favorite of the series after book 3.

Unfortunately, the final book in the series is a poly relationship and that’s just not my vibe so I likely wont be reading it. ChatGPT did give me a nice summary of the overarching mystery plot so I can see how that concludes.

Overall, I have enjoyed the series and it did get better as it went on. I’d definitely be interested in reading more from this author.

ARC kindly provided for the author in exchange for an honest review

This has been the hardest Claudia Burgoa book I've ever read, and I don't mean that in a bad way, not at all! It's just that Keir and Simone are two completely broken and wounded characters. Simone's hatred for Keir is real and can be felt on every page. Plus, they both have very complex personal stories, which broke my heart and also helped me understand them much better. I also loved that the author gave me a little more of the plot that ties all the books together, and it made me realize that I'm not ready to say goodbye to this series.

I think Simone is an unusual fmc, and I really liked that about her. She was a girl who went through very complicated and painful times since childhood and it broke my heart that the adults around her always let her down, and although things between them didn't end very well, I liked that she had Kier by her side in those moments to be her refuge, I also loved knowing that Atlas & Nysa supported her when she needed it most and I LOVED the way Claudia showed us her story after leaving Birchwood Springs through the letters. And it is precisely that part of the plot that broke my heart the most because I expected what forced Simone to escape, BUT I didn't see coming the turn that the situation would take.

Keir had been a mystery until this moment, and I didn't expect to love him as much as I did! I don't think it's about comparing suffering, but Since Kier is one of the oldest Timberbridge brothers, he's also the brother with the most obvious scars from his father's abuse, and that's why his path is so painful. Also, when Claudia added amnesia to his personal storyline (and with Simone), everything is even more heartbreaking, however, I love it when this author breaks my heart, and this is one of the books that has done it the most. I think that's why I loved this character so much. I also loved that this book showed me how strong the relationship between Mal & Kier is, how hard Atlas continues to fight to keep the family safe, and the support he gives Kier when he needs it most.

The love story in Midnight Between Us is also one of the most complex I’ve read by this author, especially because Simone’s hatred for Kier is real, and I don’t blame her: she had to make difficult decisions at a very young age, Kier broke her heart trying to protect her, and it was very painful to read them both trying to leave their painful past behind. I also loved that the author gave me a couple of characters who decide to heal their hearts in order to be together, who don’t rush their respective processes and who grow a lot throughout the book.

💙Duet narration

This audiobook was stolen completely by Jason Clarke! He conveyed perfectly the feelings of despair, pain, loneliness, sadness, and everything Kieran goes through, especially when he starts reading Simone's letters and the big reveal arrives: it was heartbreaking and made me cry so much the way the narrator brought these scenes to life.

Also, it's always so much better when audiobooks are narrated in duets because it makes me enjoy the story a thousand times more.

Love stays and Keir didn’t!

This is a second chance, amnesia romance that is missing the best part of a romance… the actual romance. This starts out so promising with a bit of mystery and then devolves into a whole lot of nothing. The amnesia resolves too quickly. The mystery aspect of this book is not even sorted out in this book. Might it be in the last book of this series? Maybe but I need at least a partial resolution in this one for this to be a remotely satisfying read. And let’s talk about the characters. I really needed a character map to know who all the players are beyond the main characters. It is hard to keep up in the beginning for someone new to this series and author. I do like Simone as the FMC though and quite a lot at that. She is a fierce survivor, and I wish nothing but good things for her and Keir is not one of them. As the past unfolds and secrets are revealed, I feel like Keir is irredeemable. While I appreciate his personal growth, it feels like too little too late. I find this story to be poorly written and badly edited as well. The writing is redundant. Wrong words are used (i.e. fussy instead of fuzzy.) The same paragraph is repeated. Text is struck through in the text of the e-book and I’m not certain as to why. The use of letters is overplayed as a plot device. The romance doesn’t really take off until the last 10-15% of the book and then it feels rushed despite the HEA. I hate-read this one all the way to the end because I couldn’t not finish it. When it is all said and done though, I can’t recommend this one with a clear conscience. Two stars is the best I can award to this disappointing flop.

Simone never thought she'd be back in this ridiculous small town, but the people she owes have sent her here. Apparently they need her medical skills here. She's been keeping her head down, ignoring the gossip, the unkind words thrown her way, just trying to serve the town until she can leave. Then she's called out to an accident and sees the face she never thought she'd see again - her ex, the boy (now man) who ghosted her in her most vulnerable time of need. She has to attend to his injuries, take him into her home even when it's apparent he doesn't remember her or how he broke her heart. She's not sure her heart can take all this forced proximity, whether he remembers her or not.

Keir was just a kid when he left, when he HAD to leave. He was in no shape to be there for Simone, even though she needed him and he didn't know it. Now he's back and has no memory of why he's here, in the condition he's in. And then when he does remember? His first and only love is right in front of him, but she's understandably wary. There's a world of pain and secrets between them, looming so large they're not sure they can get past them.

Oh my God...my heart! Simone and Keir's story is brutally emotional, at times really painful to read, even more painful to see just how broken they both were, especially Keir. Theirs is a slow, slow burn, to the point of glacially slow, but it was necessary, so as to give them time to heal before coming together. Sometimes slow burn is too slow burn for my tastes, but here I didn't mind, as the emotional part of their relationship is the heart of them, and needed to be focused on more than their very obvious chemistry. As is with the Timberbridge world, there's an over-arching mystery and suspense, and it serves as, if not the backbone, then the background to this heartfelt second chance story of healing, heartbreak, and love.

I absolutely loved Midnight Between Us by Claudia Burgoa; it is a small-town second change enemies to lovers love story. It is the fourth book in her The Timberbridge Brothers series. Claudia Burgoa shows that she is an amazing storyteller, and she is a one click, must read author for me. I was hooked from the first few pages of Midnight Between Us, it was impossible to put down and I loved every moment on every page. Who does not love hot sexy men, strong females, loving families, and friends, who always support one another? Love the heartbreaking and heartwarming moments and plot twists included in Midnight Between Us. Midnight Between Us is the story of Simone Odette Moreau, a physician who works at Birchwood Clinic and Keir Timberbridge. Keir was Simone’s childhood hero, who turned into her teenage friend and lover. Simone and Keir had plans to leave Birchwood Springs together. On a particularly bad night at home Keir ran away from Birchwood Springs and his abusive father, without saying goodbye to Simone. Simone had a secret to share with Keir, she was pregnant and also left Birchwood Springs. They have not seen each other in almost twenty years, until Simone discovers Keir’s ravaged body in the trunk of a car. She performs emergency surgery and nurses him back to health. Simone works for Crait Quantum Shield. As Keir regains his memory and they share secrets with each other about what happened all those years ago, things between Simone and Keir change, but neither one of them is willing to admit their true feelings for one another, because of their trust issues and abusive relationships. I love the sizzling chemistry between Simone and Keir and the push and pull of conversations between them flow so easily, with flirting, innuendos, and playful banter and that Keir calls Simone, “Sims” his childhood nickname for her. I love all the heart-to-heart conversations between Simone and Keir and how they each reveal secrets of their childhoods and Simone’s pregnancy and that Simone has a relationship with their son, Lyndon, even though she put him up for adoption. I especially love all the letters that she wrote to Keir during their time apart, that she kept hidden in a box. I love how the Timberbridge brothers have come together protect Simone and figure out who was behind Keir’s beating. I love how Keir works on himself and then meets Lyndon after he did the work. I love that the brothers begin to reconcile in spite of their traumatic childhood. I loved that Midnight Between Us is a more than just a romance, there are dilemmas that both Simone and Keir are facing that need to be resolved. Claudia Burgoa revealed that the events happening in Birchwood Springs would not be resolved until the last book in the series, love the secrets revealed in Midnight Between Us. I love the ending of the love story, and how both Simone and Keir change because of their love for one another and everything that they are willing to do to have a life with one another. I love Keir’s proposal in the epilogue and where it take place, it is the perfect ending to their love story. I love all the descriptions of the Birchwood Springs setting. Midnight Between Us is filled with all those things that we have come to love and expect in a love story, Claudia Burgoa did not disappoint, especially with the poignant and bittersweet moments, plot twists and surprises that filled this page turner. I really enjoy how the book is written in the first person from the perspective of the main characters. I love getting inside their minds and knowing their thoughts and how they really feel. I love how Claudia Burgoa incorporated the title of the book into their love story. I love all the characters in Midnight Between Us. They feel like family and friends. I enjoyed all the interactions between the Timberbridge brothers and the family dynamic, and their brokenness, it feels like real family love and makes me laugh at their teasing. I am looking forward to reading the final books in this series. Who does not love family and friends that always have each other’s backs? I thoroughly enjoyed Midnight Between Us, who does not love a second chance enemies to lovers love story. It was such an enjoyable book to read. Cannot wait to discover what is really going on in Birchwood Springs and who is really behind it. Highly recommend this incredible love story. Received an advanced copy from the author.

Midnight Between Us by Claudia Burgoa is book four in her Timberbridge Brothers Series. We are back in Birchwood Springs and this time it’s the mysterious absent brother Kier and Dr Simone Moreau. In the previous books we have been teased that they have a history and she’s not healed from what happened so is this going to be a second chance or closure for the couple. A story full of secrets and lies, betrayal and anger, rejection, guilt, what ifs and a young love destroyed. A complicated tale of survival, redemption and forgiveness.

Both are broken by the love they had for each other when they were young and the horrendous events they endured at home. Can they find the way back to each other and leave the pain, guilt and regret in the past. He has never stopped loving her so can he now learn to love her the right way and be the man she deserves, especially when revelations might break them both again.

Kier desperately wants the family to sell their Timber company because if they don’t they could lose everything. After a call to Malerick who again refuses, two masked men break into his home and beat him unconscious.

Simone hated growing up in Birchwood Springs as gossip, accusations and assumptions were rife about her and her family. She was tainted by her mother’s actions and the only good thing in her life was Kier Timberbridge, until he vanished with no goodbye. She has since tried to escape the past as well as the heartbreak and pain of loving him.

Simone is now a doctor and although she left town vowing never to return, she has been made to work there by her boss. She is caught up in something she can’t escape from as someone helped her once and she’s now repaying that debt. She’s told to watch the town and report suspicious activity and there’s been a lot!

The night of the Moon and Maple Festival sets off a series events that have far reaching implications for her, the brothers and her best friend. She’s sent to a car crash and can’t believe what she finds. She’s also shocked because she recognises the almost dead man she needs to save as Kier. She can’t lose him again even though she hates him, she’s not ready to let him go even if someone else didn’t want him to live.

Badly injured, Kier wakes up with no memory. No idea who he is or what happened. He remembers the dreams and a woman’s voice while he was in a coma. When Simone checks on him he is positive he knows her and she was the one encouraging him to live. He feels a pull and a connection to her so why did she lie and deny knowing him?

I loved how every time she touches him it brings back old memories of them together. It was sad he’d kept so much hidden from her back then. When his memory returns she’s ordered to take him home to keep him hidden and safe. She hates the forced proximity and how Malerick and Atlas keep interfering.

It is slowly revealed what really happened between Kier and Simone. How he protected her when they were kids and what they went through both then and in the twenty years since. We learn the reason he left town and the secrets she’s been hiding. They both escaped the town and their families but at what cost. Although the love for each other is still there, it’s a long journey for both of them especially when Kier uncovers her secret.

Atlas is cross Keir has always pushed everyone away due to what their father did to them. He was amazing with how he helped Kier and gave him such good advice. Kier is amazed his three younger siblings have all learnt to love and be loved. Although he must stay hidden he’s determined to help the family and find a way for him and Simone to reignite their relationship.

Another revelation leaves us with more intrigue over who is involved with the Hollow Syndicate, especially when Kier recalls a disturbing nightmare. After all the brothers have endured can they survive the final showdown to save their town and themselves? We also learn more about Finnegan Gil and I loved all the subtle clues about the relationship between Delilah, Malerick and Cassian ready for the final book.

Exceptional Story & Narration🎧Gripping & Emotional!

Midnight Between Us
The Timberbridge Brothers
By: Claudia Burgoa
Narrated by: Jason Clarke & CJ Bloom

Wow, Claudia Burgoa, what a way to start a book, bringing me to the edge of my seat, getting my heart racing and adrenaline pumping. And with a start like that, and all that followed made the book impossible to put down, the captivating story and emotional depth resonated deeply with me. I have been loving this series, with each book featuring a different Timberbridge brother, is just as amazing as the other, but this one, Keir and Simone’s story, hit me the hardest. Keir and Simone have history, growing up together, he her protector and she thought they were always going to be there for each other, but then he disappears on her, when she needed him most. Years later they run into each other again at the place she vowed to never return, Birchwood Springs, but she had no choice in that, nor in saving Keir’s life. Burgoa has outdone herself with this second chance romance, weaving a complex and mighty fine web and I loved watching it all unravel, hearing their backstories, the way they were told, and then seeing where it all goes. There was some interesting information revealed about their father, and they were getting closer to finding out who was behind the threats and attacks. I loved the cameos of the characters from other series and mentions of others. This wonderfully plotted, multilayered story has a perfect balance of drama, angst, twists and turns, thrilling suspense, heartfelt emotions, and a slow burn, but so worth they wait, romance. Forgiving past mistakes and healing hearts! Claudia Burgoa, thank you for this beautiful story and emotional rollercoaster ride.

🎧📚🎧 Once again, Claudia Burgoa has cast the perfect narrators to bring her characters and story to life. Jason Clarke and CJ Bloom’s talent knows no bound and their talent truly shined in their performance, an exceptional and emotionally moving performance. I loved how they owned their roles, sounding believable and just as I imagined the characters would sound. Jason Clarke’s portrayal of Keir was spot-on, showcasing the character’s complexities: his struggles, his fortitude, and his vulnerabilities. In her portrayal of Simone, CJ Bloom was equally stunning, highlighting every facet of the character, from her fierceness and strength, to her warm and caring side, as well as her insecurities. You could feel the passion in their performance, conveying every emotion so effectively that you experienced them all. These two made a fabulous team, with voices that complement each other and an enthralling performance that rivets you to the story. They are entertaining storytellers and a pleasure to listen to.

Keir and Simone have a love that is so strong that it had stood the test of time but will they ever be able to get the second chance of happiness and a future together that they both want and deserve especially after everything that they have both been through in their lives. Wow this book will take you on the biggest rollercoaster ride of so many different emotions and it had me crying so many times with everything that happened and what they had been through. I read this book in one sitting until the early hours of the morning because the story pulled you in and I couldn’t put it down and left you on the edge of your seat while breaking your heart and then putting it back together. Claudia Burgoa is a incredible author and writer and she certainly knows how to keep her readers completely addicted to her books and will have you turning the pages to see what will happen next while keeping your attention throughout. I can’t wait to read the next book in this amazing and emotional series.

Intense, emotional, and angsty, just how I like my books! I devoured this book, then re-read slowly to enjoy and savor the angst. This author enjoys wrenching my heart and putting it together again, and I love it!

I never thought Simone and Keir would ever get their HEA because they were so broken. They both used the same strategy to deal with their issues: keep people apart, live alone, bury the pain deep inside so it doesn’t come out and unravel. Except the love they had for each other, which they had buried deep and wanted to ignore, still existed and was too strong to resist.

I loved how the author structured this story. It has reminiscences from a stormy past, for both Simone and Keir. Keir comes from the Timberbridge brothers, who had such a crappy home life, full of violence, hatred, and abuse. Since Keir was one of the oldest brothers, he took a lot of the abuse to protect his little brothers, so he has a lot of issues and dysfunctions to deal with. Instead of giving us instant redemption and reconciliation, the author took the characters through tribulations and more heartache. There is a part that was so emotional that I felt like my chest was going to crack open.

Simone is the product of a teenage pregnancy, and what is worse, her grandfather is the town’s preacher. She had to live with her mother’s bad reputation and her grandparents abuse of her mother, who finally left, and the strict, loveless household she was forced to live in. They were each other’s comfort until Keir up and left without a goodbye, until he appears almost dead and tied up, in the trunk of a car.

There’s a feeling of menace, as Keir stays hidden from the Hollow Syndicate, the ones who beat him up and left for dead. Simone was assigned to patch him up and keep him alive. Then to keep him at her house which is like a fortress. Imagine all the feelings and chemistry and guilt floating around for Keir, who abandoned Simone twenty years ago. There’s resentment and pain on her part, guilt and repentance on his. It’s all yummy angst!

Another thing I loved was seeing Atlas, oozing marital happiness and even giving out advice! And then I understood that the older Timberbridge brothers, Malerick and Keir, are the most broken because they got the brunt of the abuse, and luckily their books were left for last, so the best was left for last, yay. I have my suspicions about Malerick, let’s see if they turn out to be true. Now I can’t wait for the final book, Malerick’s, and see how it’s all resolved.

4.5 Stars ⭐️ Midnight Between Us is the 4th book in the Timberbridge Brothers series. Keir Timberbridge and Dr. Simone Moreau’s second chance romance begins in such an angsty way! Both are brought back to their small town that both ran away from years ago. Simone is called out to a car accident, and found a nearly dead Keir in the trunk. When he woke up after she saved his life, Keir couldn’t remember what happened, who he was, or who Simone was to him. Now she needed to take care of Keir in a private location to keep him safe from those who tried to kill him already. What Simone didn’t except was when Keir gained his memories back, he found her pack of letters that she never sent to him when she 17 years old after he left due to bad things that happened to Keir.

This was VERY angsty! The suspense part was slow, but that was not what the book is ultimately about. Keir and Simone each had childhood trauma that shaped who they were, and their childhood friendship and their romance was impactful to each other after Keir left when they were teenagers. Keir reading her letters was heartbreaking, because he finally felt what his actions cost him. I loved that they rebounded through letters that they wrote to each other after Keir removed himself from her house to give the both time to deal with the past. The romantic bond was always there. We saw that, so their romance in present day wasn’t as passionate as the previous couples in past books in this series. However, that did not take away Simone and Keir’s chemistry and the emotional depth of their romantic feelings and past friendship. I loved that Keir worked on his mental health to deal with what he did in the past and to deal with what happened to him when he was younger.

There is a trope that will be divisive, but it was necessary for Keir’s character growth. Simone went through her own journey to forgive Keir, because neither never stopped loving each other. She was a strong heroine and I liked her. She didn’t give into him easily, but made him work for her forgiveness, so this VERY SLOW BURN! The overarching plot of the series was still there, and we still felt the urgency to stop the villains. It wasn’t in the forefront in this book as it was in the other books.

I would still recommend picking up Midnight Between Us. The audiobook was well narrated by CJ Bloom and Jason Clarke. Thank you to Claudia Burgoa for an advanced copy Midnight Between Us. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

---

When I found out that this book was about the “lost brother” (well, not lost but that's how I felt), I was eager to read it, and I must say that it did not disappoint. Let's start with the fact that it's a second chance romance, and if you read my reviews, you know how I feel about this topic, here, it was perfect. I felt that it was justified why they drifted apart and why Simone hated Keir. When everything was revealed, I could feel every emotion Keir felt, I could feel how his heart bled for Simone, and yes, they separated when they were very young, and as adults, by a twist of fate (let's say that so as not to give away any spoilers), they have to live together, but at that moment they realize that their feelings, although buried (mostly on Simone's part), are still there.

This book was a complete journey, from beginning to end the author keeps you reading just to find out what will happen, not only between the main characters, but also with the whole suspense theme that is gradually revealed with each book in the series.

I must admit that I am so excited about the last book in this series, as we were given a glimpse of it here, and I will just say that I am not ready.

📌 I received an e-arc, and this is my honest opinion/review of it.

This book, MIDNIGHT BETWEEN US, the fourth book of The Timberbridge Brothers, is so unbelievably fun and flirty, slow burn, secret baby, witty, suspense, action, and yet sexy and emotional that it is unputdownable. I was totally captivated when reading/listening 🎧 to this addictive page-turning story. This is Kier Timberbridge and Simone Moreau’s story. Get ready to fall in love with this delicious brooding man—Kier and his dysfunctional family, and the beautiful, shy, quirky, but sassy—Simone, whom he can’t resist.

The narrators were awesome! I love hearing the duet version of narration because it makes the story seem more realistic. OMG, I loved Jason Clark’s deep voice! Both Jason Clarke and CJ Bloom’s performance are outstanding. This audiobook is worth listening too!

Outside of the small town of Birchwood Springs, Simone is known as Dr. Simone Odette Moreau, who is smart, capable, and reliable. After all the years gone from Birchwood Springs, the place Simone vowed never to return to, she has returned and now works at Birchwood Springs Medical Clinic, where she is still carrying a heavy burden from the emotional baggage and judgment regarding her mother’s reputation and being the granddaughter of a preacher. Simone and Kier were childhood friends, then to lovers. Because of Simone mother’s troublesome past, she and Kier became close—until they weren’t! When Simone wanted to leave Birchwood Springs because of her family, someone enabled her to leave. Now, she has to pay the consequences for her reckless decision. Who assisted in Simone’s escape from Birchwood Springs? What are the consequences, and why now?

When Simone sees Kier since her return, it is under unusual circumstances, because he was hurt, and she had to save his life. What happened to Kier? Kier and Simone’s chemistry leaps off the page—they are combustible. Everything about them seemed too good to be true, but none of that mattered until situations turns Kier and Simone’s lives upside down. Simone is in for the ride of her life! What happens next? Well, read this fantastic story. There are several twists and turns within the story that makes it interesting. Claudia Burgoa writes a dynamic story about love, forgiveness, acceptance, and family. I HIGHLY recommend this book!

So much angst!

Midnight Between Us is the fourth installment in the Timberbridge Brothers series, by the ever talented Claudia Burgoa. As always, I fully recommend reading a series in order to get the most out of it, but each book can be read as a standalone but is interconnected. Midnight is an angsty, slow burn, second chance romance filled with drama, pain, forgiveness and love, for fans of Claudia this one is a tear jerker.

Dr. Simone is back in her hometown of Birchwood Springs, the one place she swore she would never be. Even worse, he’s here too. Keir Timberbridge. The man that ruined her life and broke her heart, but now he needs her help. After being found half dead on the after end of a horrible car accident, Simone is the one to save his life. That’s right, she saved the life of the man that didn’t want her. Now, after resurrecting from the dead, Keir has no memory who Simone is or what he did to her all those years ago. Her only job now? Keep him alive long enough to find out who is trying to kill him and hopefully keep her heart safe at the same time.

What a ride! Midnight Between Us truly is the perfect title for Simone and Keir. Their story is filled with such emotional pain, in the span of a midnight hour so much can change, and for them it does. Both Simone and Keir come from broken homes, and as children/teenagers they bond over this and fall in love. When Keir leaves town, and in turn, Simone, she is heartbroken, he was her person, the one who loved her and whom she loved. This leads to the current strife between them. These two have secrets, boy oh boy do they have secrets, but they also have love between. With the help of the rest of the Timberbridge brigade, they slowly work through the trauma of their past and begin to find promise for the future.

I was dying for Keir and Simone’s story when we first met them in previous books, and I am happy to say the wait was worth it. The pain of this book and their story makes for the best HEA, the longing both Simone and Keir had for one another, the loss they both felt. This author has the best way with words and truly can’t wait to see what she gives to us next!

I absolutely loved Keir and Simone’s story. This slow burn, second chance romance is beautifully written, emotional, and completely captivating. We are back in Birchwood Springs with a heart-pounding beginning that brings these two back together after almost twenty years apart. They were young lovers, with painful home lives, who brought comfort to each other. Keir thought he was protecting Simone when he turned his back on her and left town suddenly. Now Keir has been hurt, and Simone is the doctor who is helping him heal. They both have secrets that have them back in the town they swore they would never return to. The Timberbridge brothers are trying to over come a life they fear will only bring pain to those they love. They are now coming together, overcoming their bitterness toward each other, and bonding together, when someone is out to destroy them all. Keir and Simone are survivors of what life has dealt to them. With the help of the Timberbridge brothers and their wives, Keir and Simone realize that they had never stopped loving each other. Will they be strong enough to forgive the pain, and build a better, stronger love together, before their past rips them apart for good? I loved the way this story was told, making me feel all the pain, loss, hope and love that Keir and Simone endured. Burgoa is a master storyteller, taking her time with her characters, breaking them down, then building them back up again stronger and even more beautiful in their brokenness, making them feel more genuine and honest. I was completely invested in Keir and Simone’s story and cheered hard for their HEA! There are still many secrets and questions yet to be answered and I can't wait for what happens next in Birchwood Springs!
Jason Clarke and CJ Bloom were so perfect as Keir and Simone. They gave such heartfelt, and moving performances. They nailed these characters so completely, making me see, and understand them so clearly, and helped me to empathize with them as well. They made this story even more exciting, and I loved every heart-pounding, and steamy moment!

Midnight Between Us is the fourth book in Burgoa's The Timberbridge Brothers series. This small town, enemies to lovers, slow burn, second chance romance features Dr. Simone Odette Moreau and Keir Timberbridge.

Simone has begrudgingly found herself back in Birchwood Springs, a place she swore she'd never return after getting out. She grew up in the small town trapped between the pressures of being the preacher's granddaughter and the whore's daughter. Fortunately she had Keir, the boy who protected her, stole her heart, and later left her.

When an abandoned vehicle is found with a beaten and broken body stuffed in the trunk, Simone is called to the scene. She is shocked to find that it is none other than Keir and puts her feelings aside to save his life. When Keir regains consciousness, they learn he has amnesia from the trauma he endured. Not knowing who tried to kill him or why, a decision is made to keep his identity a secret and let his would-be murderers think they succeeded.

The last thing Simone wants to do is share a living space with the man who broke her heart, but in the interest of his safety and well being, Keir moves into her secluded home where he can continue to heal. As his memory returns, he wants to respect her need for space but is desperate to know what happened, and why she is so angry with him.

Burgoa once again delivered a highly emotional and heartwarming tale. This one occurred between two characters who suffered and while they found their way out, continued to carry the pain of the past. Under it all was an enduring and powerful love. It was difficult to learn what Simone and Keir lived through, and how it, and the decisions they subsequently made, shaped them. These characters are so beautifully written it is easy to forget that they are fictional. My heart broke for Simone and Keir but was thankfully stitched back together by Burgoa's beautiful writing.

In addition to reading the book, I also listened to the audiobook which was narrated by Jason Clarke and CJ Bloom. I thought Bloom did a wonderful job embodying Simone and I was blown away by Clarke. The resonance of his voice moved me and occasionally gave me chills. I cannot imagine any other voice actor portraying Keir. Both actors successfully brought the characters to life and truly enhanced the listening experience.

Each of the books in this series is a standalone, however I highly recommend starting from the beginning of the series in order to fully appreciate the underlying story about the Hollow Syndicate. I eagerly away book five!

This book was a lot! Not just lengthy in size, but sizeable in storyline! Claudia Burgoa packed a lot into this book.

Kier and Simone's story unfolds between chapters set in the past and in the present, complete with heartwrenching letters she wrote him 2o years ago when he pushed her away when she needed him most. Their reunion comes when Simone least expects it. She's working as a doctor in a clinic in their small hometown, and she's ordered by her mysterious bosses to help a patient who was left for dead. She's shocked to see Kier, the boy she once loved, is the victim, barely clinging to life. Under her boss's orders, Simone takes Kier to her hidden home in the woods, where she literally has to nurse him back to health and keep him hidden in order to save both of their lives.

Holy. Slow. Burn. Seriously, I thought I would never get to the part where Kier and Simone finally reunite — and it was a doozy of a ride for them to get there! I appreciated that Kier took the time to work on himself and face his demons before he asked Simone for a second chance.

Kier and Simone's story is narrated by Jason Clarke and CJ Bloom, two narrators I love to listen to. I started in on this straight off of listening to JC narrate a Catherine Cowles new release (Chasing Shelter), and I was amazed at how masterfully he played the two different characters. Both narrators did a great job at capturing the nuances of this emotionally complex story, and I especially loved how JC fluctuated between Kier's anger and more vulnerable moments.

While Midnight Between Us could be read on its own, I suggest reading this series from the start since the through-line of the mysterious syndicate follows the brothers from one book to the next. I still have so many unanswered questions about that suspense storyline, and can't wait to see how it continues to unfold in the rest of the Timberbridge Brothers books!

I received an advanced copy and voluntarily left a review.

Keir Timberbridge hasn’t had the easiest life and he truly isn’t over what happened to him and his family at all. So when he took off at 18, he didn’t want to come back. He wasn’t going to go back, that was until unforeseen circumstances did. And not in the way at all anyone suspected. Especially Simone Moreau, Dr Simone Moreau. The woman whose heart he had broken in so many ways when he was younger, whose hate he could now feel, but is the person who literally saved his life and put him back together. Now that they were “together” would he be able to help solve one of the reasons why she was hurting so much. He knew that her life hadn’t been easy, but he had no idea what happened when he left. Because Keir realized if he had, the whole story would be completely different. The way to find some of the answers and get through it all, is letters. Some from the past that he never received and some now, the letters they are sending each other.

This is the 4th book in the Timberbridge Brother series and while in the same style, it is also different. While there is some action like there has been in previous book, it is more in the start than in the end. Each character has some things they need to work through in order to get to the place that they each need to be.

And I have to know who in the heck is Finnegan!! A side character but one who is behind a lot of it. I mean I got who he is but has his story been done? Because if it has been I need to find that book because I want to know more about it. The way he ties into Simone and the others wow. I just hope that the next book in the series puts to rest some the questions that have risen throughout this series and doesn’t leave us hanging.

Thanks to 1852 Media and the author for an ARC in exchange for my honest opinion.

OH MY GOODNESS!!! Ms. Burgoa has given us readers a real treat with Midnight Between Us. It is a very well written book with the main characters, Keir and Simone, going through lots of emotional highs and lows. Emotional times that will take us readers right along with them on their journey. A journey that started when they were kids, when all either of them felt they had to rely on was each other. But as they became young adults, Keir knew he had to leave town or he would not only ruin himself but ruin Simone’s life as well. Little did he know the devastation he was living behind. Fast forward almost twenty years and Simone, now a doctor, is called to a car crash where a body is found of a man barely alive. The man turns out to be Keir. On one hand Simone wants nothing to do with him, her brain telling her to walk away. But the doctor in her, as well as the little girl who loved the boy Keir once was, can’t walk away. So she ends up patching him up and keeping him hidden at her home until the good guys can figure out who is behind beating Keir and leaving him for dead. Of course it helps that he can’t remember who he is, let alone who she is. But what happens when those memories come flooding back? Will truths and secrets come to light about their past or will danger strike before they ever find out?

My heart seemed to break and soar many times as I read Keir and Simone’s story. I laughed and cried at what all these two not only went through years ago but all they have endured from then till now. If you’ve kept up with the first 3 books, I’ll tell you yes, we are still fighting the syndicate and we learn some shocking new developments. If you haven’t started the series, I highly recommend you do so and to read the books in order, as the back story overlaps through them all.

EMOTIONALLY GRIPPING!! This book should come with the warning… YOU WILL CRY!!
I couldn’t wait to read Kier story and let me say it was MORE than I had anticipated.
I knew that just like his brothers books Kier Timberbridge’s story would also wreck me in the most incredibly touching, heartbreaking and breathtaking way. My heart bled for this man.
🎧I also listened to the audiobook! CJ Bloom and Jason Clarke’s performances are STUNNING. They brought this story to life in the most beautiful and captivating way, but most importantly their narration truly captured the emotion and delivered it in the most heart stopping and impactful way. Through their voices you felt Kier and Simone’s story come to life and it sent shivers through me.

This second chance romance will consume you with its intrigue, suspense and heart-gripping characters.
Kier knows danger is coming for him and his family and he wants to get out of his hometown, unfortunately he’s taken, beaten and left for dead.
When Simone came back to her hometown, she never thought she’d be saving the life of the man who broke her heart.
The tension is heavy, the attraction is undeniable and the hurt is still harbouring.
When Kier finds Simone’s letters and reads them he realizes just how much he hurt Simone in the deepest way ( …insert ugly crying…now my heart bled for both of them!).
Now the forced proximity heightens their desire and need for one another, however, they will need to survive the danger surrounding them to finally be with one another.
A startling revelation rattles the Timberbridge’s as they face the most daunting news yet!!
So if you’re looking to escape into a small town romance with interesting drama, enticing moments and a remarkably astounding storyline, you will be thoroughly delighted and wonderfully satisfied with Kier and Simone’s OUTSTANDING love story.

𝐌𝐢𝐝𝐧𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭 𝐁𝐞𝐭𝐰𝐞𝐞𝐧 𝐔𝐬 is the 4th book in the new Timberbridge Brothers series by Claudia Burgoa, featuring a heart-wrenching and suspenseful second chance for Keir Timberbridge and Dr. Simone Moreau. It’s been 20 years since he left her behind and shattered her heart, and now he’s back in dramatic fashion, under her care after she literally saved his life. Claudia Burgoa has another winner on her hands with this one! The raw emotion, angst, secrets and lies, compelling plot twists, and the riveting overarching suspense plot that has been unfolding throughout the series kept me glued to this story!! I loved the soulmate connection between Keir and Simone, despite all the past pain between them! Despite Keir’s poor choices in the past, I found myself rooting for them so hard, often swept up in the emotion of the moment. While the romance was definitely a slow burn, in deference to the mountain of heartbreak and past trauma they had to overcome, it felt totally organic and appropriate for the characters and their journey! One of my favorite aspects of the book, was seeing more of the brothers’ dynamic! And yes, Atlas stood out for me again!😉 I just love him! The suspense aspect is fantastic, and I cannot wait to see how it all shakes out in the final book!

I love doing the full immersive experience with these books by reading and listening at the same time. Jason Clarke and CJ Bloom narrated the audio version in duet flawlessly!! They way they embodied all that angst and emotion was so impressive! Jason Clarke nailed Keir’s struggles, fears, and also his strengths in a way few could. I loved the way CJ brought out all the different sides of Simone as well! What a fantastic pairing!!

I received an ARC/ALC for free, and am leaving this review voluntarily.

Slow burn, EMOTIONAL, second chance story and I ate it up!

I devoured this one in a day. I was riveted from the prologue until the end. Simone is another person who swore they would never return to town and is now the doctor of the local clinic. Keir Timberbridge is back and her patient with no memory of their past. Their journey is a rollercoaster of emotion as she’s taking care of her first love and the man she never wanted to see again. While Keir is slowly healing and struggling as he begins to remember.

There is so much that happens in this story, but I feel it needs to be experienced. So, I’ll be brief. The twists and secrets that are revealed kept me gasping at my phone. There’s still animosity among the brothers, but I love that they are continuing to work through their issues but never falter with their support when one is in trouble.

Duet narration by CJ Bloom and Jason Clarke and they were ridiculous! This was intense from the very beginning and didn’t let up. I’m so impressed when I can easily distinguish between conversational dialogue and inner thoughts. Keir has a lot of inner dialogue as he heals, and you felt the pure, raw emotion from Jason during these scenes. You felt frustration, fierce protectiveness, and adoration as Keir’s story played out. CJ Bloom embodied Simone. Her strength, loyalty, and her struggles between past Keir and treating him in the present.

The suspense and intrigue continue and as more is revealed, it’s leading to more questions. Besides these Timberbridge boys, my favorite part is the suspense woven throughout the series. While there’s an HEA and we get a few more answers, I feel like this is leading up to an explosive final book. AND I CAN’T WAIT!

This was a heartfelt and highly emotional tale featuring characters Keir and Simone, who once meant something meaningful to each other.

Before delving further into our thoughts, we recommend reading this series in order as it has an ongoing plot and the Timberbridge men have a rich family history intertwined with the town and its people. Their family's history is marked by violence, cruelty, and more, but it's heartening to see that they have broken the family curse and found happiness and their soulmates along their journeys.

This was a beautifully written but tragic story that constantly tugs at our heartstrings . Keir's journey of physical and mental recovery will break your heart.

Simone and Keir's complicated history wreaks havoc on her emotions as she is the woman who saved his life and is now in charge of his care when he has no memory of their past connection. Your heart aches for what the teenager endured, and you grapple with conflicting emotions, understanding her lingering anger but also empathizing with her tragic loss and inability to let go of the love of her life.

This couple's story is brutal and more complex than anticipated, but it's also a tale of second chances and being all in to make it work. Keir's actions lead to him losing more than just one love.

We loved this story, its characters, and how the suspense in the plot intensified with explosive secrets revealed. We can't wait for Cassin's story next and to see how everything unfolds.

We must give praise to this author, who is definitely one of our favorites, for creating wonderful characters that readers can fall in love with and revisiting favorite characters across series, always touching the hearts of their readers

I’ve been so intrigued by the combative and absent Keir Timberbridge and was so excited to read his book. Midnight Between Us did not disappoint in the least. I initially worried about the amnesia trope, but things worked out brilliantly as Keir and Simone got their much deserved second chance at an HEA. This story has intrigue, secrets, and is a fantastic journey toward healing the hurts inflicted by the past. It also adds a new chapter of intriguing drama with the criminal syndicate plaguing their small town. This slow burn, second chance, childhood friends to slight enemies to lovers romantic suspense will leave you swooning over the sweetness of Keir and Simone’s HEA and intrigued for the final chapter in the Timberbridge Brothers series.

In audio, Jason Clarke and CJ Bloom were the perfect choices for these strong but conflicted characters. Their performances were emotional and passionate, which only adds to the drama and feelings of this read. Keir and Sims have such a shared conflicted past which only reveals itself in pieces as they both revisit and reframe the past. Keir has been the most conflicted brother to date after surviving his childhood spent shielding his brothers from their abusive father. One of the things I love most about this series is how the brothers who were scattered across the country, have come back together to support one another. It’s a very sweet underlying theme of the series. Claudia also manages to connect the Timberbridges further to her larger Decker series. These subtle details and nuances are part of why I love reading Claudia and this series is delightfully complex and intriguing. I can’t wait to see how things wrap up as the series concludes.
