Never expected a sequel to Dual Desires but boy was this tale so worth it! It was raw and very descriptive!
This time around you truly got to see the inner workings of Demon and his Irish old lady, Ardy. If you doubted the possessiveness of Demon or D in Dual Desires, well nip it! He was all alpha male as the "Prez" of the Dueling Devils but where Ardy and his kids, Harley and Rocket were concerned he was a loving man and great dad.
I loved the interaction between this pair. Ardy was such an endearing character because she was able to hold Demon and the kids' heart with very little effort. She was just real and sincere with everything she did. Demon on the other hand had deadly skeletons falling out everywhere but in loving Ardy, he was able to see a brilliant light that clarified him as a man capable of loving wholeheartedly.
There were grammatical errors but IMHO they were foreshadowed by how well the story was told and written.
I would love to see another sequel dealing with Gia and Lefty, second in command of the Dueling Devils(hint - hint)!
After the Sidewinders make an attempt to hurt Demon’s family which includes Ardy there is no way he can let them get away with that nonsense and he strikes back. In doing so he has to be away from his family and this causes some tension in the relationship.
In the meantime Ardy is considering whether the MC life is for her. She loves Demon and the kids but he has to keep too many secrets from her. Plus a woman from his past Gia surfaces and gives Ardy cause to call both Demon and her out!!! Ardy’s parents are having a hard time accepting that Ardy really loves Demon and is staying with him of her own free will.
Demon lets Ardy know that now she has made the commitment to him she cannot run or he will chase her down and she cannot disrespect him in front of his men when she calls him out on his issues.
Ardy show us that she has sass and she is not about to take everything being dished out to her lying down.
A great follow up to book 1 and I enjoyed it very much! Looking forward to reading Lefty’s story!
This one I liked more than the first one, there was more content, and more depth to the characters, and we saw Ardy change into a beautiful woman that knew how to stand her ground, "it's bulls*** for you to come in here, demand we pack, snap at the kids and not tell me s***. I don't give a eff about the rules. If I'm not okay, how can I make sure they're okay?" Demon the boy still has a major hard-on for his girl and is all about showing her that, "Demon pulled away and released her. "Stop looking at me with those eyes, baby. We don't have the time. I need to get you to my place and then get back on the streets." He also likes to pretend he's in charge when really it's Ardy although there is one thing Demon is always in charge of and that's the bedroom, "one of two things need to happen. You need to get on birth control, or we're making a baby." I enjoyed this one so much better and I'm kind of hoping a story will happen between Lefty and Gia.
I was really looking forward to the continuation of the story from "Dueling Desires" but I was a little disappointed. Ardy and Demon are complicated characters who bring a lot to a story and I was hoping that I would not only get the impending war with the rival crew but more development between these two main characters. To be fare there was some development but there could have been so much more to it. The story as presented is fine but it reads like a draft, as if Ms. Colt was taken by surprise by the success of Dueling Desires and rushed to put out a follow-up. And where was the editing? I can't say it enough, when your brain is auto-correcting what your reading it pulls you out of the story. Ms. Colt your to talented for this.
A bit more drama, action, and more. IT was time for payback for the assault on Demons home and family. This time there was no holding back. IT was time to make sure this was done and done for good.
After paying the debt that her family owed to Demon and the Dueling Devils MC she was to return home. None expected love to rise from the debt. The attack on the family set things into motion that could not be stopped. Ardy had found herself in the midst of a MC warzone. Demon was now out for blood. His family and home was attached. It was time to bring the fire down. The Sidewinders have messed with his family and their safety for the last time. Will Ardy every look at him the same when she understand that depths at which he went too to take care of the threat?
so i should disclose that i started reading payback (dueling devils #2) before duel desires (dueling devils #1). #1 was so full of heat that when i got back to #2, it felt like a bit of the heat was let out of the room. ardy and demon became a lot more real in this one and continue to make me want to read the series. so with that i did adjust my rating to 4 stars.
This is not a standalone novella. It is second in the Dueling Devils MC series. A 5 star rating for this entertaining fun read. Nice job of continuing storyline and characters. This story picks up immediately where book one finished. No major time lapse. It is full of action and suspense. It was interesting and a very quick read. I didn’t feel rushed or shorted. A great job of giving a storyline and the needed support to make a good read. Resolution to problems and situations that were developing in book one. You get to see more in depth into characters and the reasons behind their choices and actions. The only issue I had was some grammatical errors. They weren’t serious enough to affect story but noticeable. Definitely read this one/series. I can’t wait to read the third in series. Highly recommend AndreaAH
Payback picks up right where Dual Desires left off and it was even better. From the first page to the last this story will have you captured. Demon is pure Alpha male hotness from his dirty mouth to him doing every thing he can to protect what's his. Ardy has his heart but never doubt for one second that she's not strong enough to stand by his side. Their loved is tested on both sides by a woman from Demon's past to Ardy's meddling parents. Through it all these two will continue to do all they can to protect the family they are surely building. Dueling Devils is a MC club that you don't want to cross and I for one can't wait to see who's next in this spectacular cast to get their HEA.
When you mess with the Demon you will play in blood.....Payback begins where Dueling Devils left off...Ardy and Demon declare their feelings for one other and Demon declares war on those who f*cks with his family. Ardy realizes that being the Old Lady of a MC president is not all roses but sacrifices and trust. Demon realizes that being in a real loving relationship means trusting and opening up not only your heart but your trust to someone else. This stories brings in a new character who you will either love or hate but once you read between the lines you see that their is alot of broken people in MC famiy and they are all looking for what Demon and Ardy stubbled upon. Read this story you will not be dissappointed.
I received a digital copy in exchange for an honest review.
Again readers get to see Demon at both his best and his worst as he faces challenges that test both his ability to keep things intact at home and with his club. There is more bonding between him and Ardy but not as much as I'd hoped to see, still we get to watch her stand strong next to Demon and carry herself as a worthy female the readers will enjoy cheering for.
Ardy and Demon's story continues from Dualing Desires, and Demon will do anything in his power to protect his woman. Good short(er) read about what happens in a MC when the pres's woman is in danger. Hot and sexy too. Putting the first and second novellas together in this series would have made a better, stronger book. I think both of the books are a 3.5 for me, but I gave the first one a 4 and this one a 3 to even it out.
I am so glad I found this series. Demond and Ardy continues to shoe ehy they are a great couple. After protecting his kids Demon fell hard for Ardy......then to think he could have lost her and his kids put him into action being the man that earned the name Demon. However it was amazing to see that he too wanted thst softer side.
Demon and Ardy have come full circle. After a rival club tries to harm her and the kids, the MC goes to war. Hardy has to figure out if she loves all the aspects of Demon. The journey is well worth the price of admission. Highly recommended!
I will say the same thing that I said for the first book: Another short and sweet story. Don't usually use sweet with MC books, but it isn't a bad thing with this book. Had enough of a plot and good characters development that you wanted to keep reading throughout the series.
I didn't think I'd like the motorcycle clubs, but these books are so good, sexy and full of action. Loving Demon and Ardy. Ardy doesn't take Demon's crap and goes toe to toe with him. On to Book 3, I'm enjoying their journey.
This story keeps getting better. I really like Ardy's personality, she is sweet but I'll out you in your place when needed. Demon is HOT and dangerous. Looking forward to what comes next.
An interesting biker book. I enjoyed reading both books. It details the life of bikers and what they do to protect themselves, each other, and their families.
I have the a 4 because it was an exciting read. I love the characters and their situations. Loved how the story p!later out, especially with her mom and dad.
