Bo

Do you know what it’s like being in love with your straight best friend for most of your life? Well, if you guessed it sucks, then ding ding ding, you’d be correct.

For most of my life it’s been my best friend Cam and me against the world. I thought I had made peace with being in love with my very straight best friend. As long as I have Cam in my life, everything is perfect.

Then he kisses me.

I don’t know what to do. Everything is messed up. I feel like our friendship is slowly spiraling out of control. Cam insists he made a mistake. He’s just lonely. That’s all.

So why can’t he stop?

Why does he keep coming back to me?

I’m living out a fantasy I’ve had since I even knew what love was. This should feel like a dream. Instead, I’m afraid it’s slowly going to turn into a nightmare.

Cam

After another breakup I run to my best friend like I do every time I need comfort. It’s just how we are. It may seem odd to some how close we are, but it’s just us. There’s no Camden Almeida without Bowen Zhao. He’s everything to me. I refuse to mess up our relationship like I do in all my relationships.

Then I kiss him.

I don’t know why I did it. I'm so confused. I’ve never even looked at another man this way. I don’t know what’s happening. Why am I feeling like this now? One kiss changes everything. Maybe it’s because we’re so comfortable together. I don’t know. Soon our relationship is spiraling out of control. Jealousy, resentment, and bottled-up feelings threaten to derail our friendship. Things I’ve never felt before won’t stop surfacing, and I don’t know how to go back to before I kissed him.

The thing is, I don’t think I want to.

it’s good

I liked it. I’m so glad Bowen is full Chinese and Cam I think is some kind of Spanish. So many books to have an Asian MC they’re always half Asian and half white falling in love with a white MC I love the diversity it’s refreshing. Only issue I didn’t like was that during the book both character while coming to terms with their love for one another still sleep with other people. I just felt like Cam didn’t do enough to make up to Bo. The years he’s used Bo as a crutch.

Also we never learn anything after Cam and his dad even though he plays a big part in why Cam is the way he is. We also don’t hear anything from Bo’s family even though they’re close with Cam cause they took care of him after his dad went to prison. Also Cam never clears the air and tells Bo about his conversation with Siena even though they’re say they don’t hide things from one another. Only about 10% of the book do we finally get to ready where Bo and Cam are finally together I just wished we had it earlier on and so we can read the dynamic of it and how it affects them and where we can have more moments where we feel their love and connection. Also we emphasis on Bowen being a bottom virgin and I just wished there was more emphasis and how special Bowen and Cams first time together is.

Oh sweet Cam and Bo. Best friends since childhood, Bo was there for Cam when his family was either ignoring or hurting him. Bo has been in love with him forever but Cam is straight. Until one kid changes everything. Cam is confused, he's not attracted to any other guys but Bo feels different. Their story is so emotional. Both are afraid to truly talk about their feelings, so they end up hurting the other unknowingly. Can they both stop being afraid and actually talk about their feelings?

I was lucky enough to get a copy as an ARC reader.

Really adorable story, friends-to-lovers trope, bi-awakening (or should I say Bo-awakening). All of Sophie's books are happy ending, and very cute!!! Bonus points to the Yuri on Ice shoutout!

ARC Review — Book 3 of My New Hyperfixation

Okay, let’s start with the obvious:
Yes, it happened again.
The ARC Curse struck, and I somehow ended up with book three in a series I hadn’t finished.
But did that stop me?
NO.
I simply binged the first two books like a feral creature emerging from a cave 🦝📚 and then absolutely devoured this one as if my life depended on it. I regret nothing.

Bo and Cam… I don’t even know how to explain the hold these two men now have on my brain chemistry. Their dynamic is deliciously complicated in the most emotionally satisfying way. Bo is impossibly gentle, observant, protective, and so deeply devoted it made my chest physically hurt 🥺❤️. He’s the type of character who loves quietly but completely — the kind of love that feels like gravity.

And Cam… oh, sweet chaotic Cam.
He is a walking contradiction and an emotional tornado wrapped in humor, denial, and a truly impressive ability to run from his own feelings 😭😂. I adore him. I wanted to shake him. I wanted to hug him. I wanted to throw a pillow at his head. All at once.

Watching Cam slowly unravel, question everything he thought he knew, and then realize that Bo has always been his safe place — his person — felt like witnessing a slow sunrise in real time 🌅💛. Beautiful. Devastating. Warm. I was unwell.

The slow burn between them?
AGONY. 😭🔥
The tension??
I WAS CLIMBING THE WALLS.
When things finally shift between them, it feels so natural, inevitable, and emotionally charged you can practically hear a soundtrack swelling behind them 🎶💘.

And the friendships… oh my GOD the friendships.
This book is peak found-family excellence.
Noah and Bo’s deepening bond? My heart melted 🥹.
Jamie finding a real friend in Cam? I had to put the book down and breathe.
The entire crew—Noah, Jamie, Hunter, Mark—continue to be a glorious mix of chaotic, supportive, unhinged, and soft 😂💀❤️. They elevate every scene.

Also, the character growth? Stunning.
Jamie’s emotional evolution?? 🌱💞
Noah’s influence on literally everyone?? Iconic.
Mark somehow becoming likable??? Against my will??? 😒➡️🥰

And the SPICE.
Oh, the spice.
We have heated moments, we have emotionally charged intimacy, we have THE gaming chair scene 👀🔥, and we have piano-related activities that made me sit up straight like I was in trouble 🎹😳💀.

This book is messy, tender, funny, emotional, and absolutely full of heart.
It’s everything I want in a friends-to-lovers arc and everything I didn’t know I needed from this series 🥰📚.

And that tiny tease at the end?
That hint at who might be next??
Yeah. I’m feral. Fully unhinged. I’m already emotionally attached 😭🔥👀.

Thank you Sophie Quinn for this ARC — my sanity may be fractured, but my love for this series is whole. ❤️‍🩹✨

I loved every single minute of this book, and honestly, this entire series has my whole splintered heart. ❤️‍🩹❤️‍🩹

I’ve been waiting for Bo and Cam’s story, and it delivered in every way: Bo’s softness and quiet devotion, Cam’s humor and resilience despite everything he’s been through… it all made their journey feel so raw and real. And while Cam had me laughing out loud (truly, he is hilarious).😂😂

I won’t lie—I spent most of the book wanting to not -so- gently shake him until he realized the only thing that’s ever been good for him has been Bo. Their connection felt so natural, so warm, and when the emotions finally clicked into place for both of them, it was like watching two halves finally fully realize they belong together.

I also absolutely adored seeing Noah and Bo’s friendship deepen—those two are so precious together, and their bond added even more heart to the story. And finally getting to see Jamie find a true friend in Cam was everything; Jamie has always deserved more people in his corner. It was nice to see someone like Cam who truly gets him, and watching that friendship bloom made me ridiculously happy. 🥹🥹

And the spice? Spicy, emotional, freeing—everything I wanted and more. The gaming chair scene… 👀

That one is going to live rent-free in my mind for a very long time.

I also loved getting a deeper look into the relationships I already adore—Mark Hunter, and especially my forever favorites, Jamie and Noah. Seeing Jamie’s growth honestly made my heart swell.🥰🥰

Thank you so much to the author for sending me an advanced reader copy and for letting me be part of your team—screaming right alongside me when my emotions were spiraling. I’m forever grateful.

Fractured Souls - Sophie Quinn
5/5

* SPOILERS *

Geez. I don’t know how Sophie does this every single time she writes a book and that book ends up being my favorite. I know that Bo and Cam were going to be my favorite in this series even though I still have yet to read book 1, which is definitely at the top of my tbr list.

Give me a good best friends to lovers, all the cuddling with some blushing and the cutest way that they try to deny their feelings, sign me up pretty please.

I love the way that the book starts. First off, can I say I cannot stand Cam’s exes in how they made him doubt himself in the person he was? When he went to grab his stuff and his ex was in that guy’s shirt that she cheated on him with - like wtf?!

I giggled every single time they came up with a middle name for the other. You find out why they do towards the end of the book and it’s just so cute. Also, the cooking scenes is just the cutest.

Also, Cam carrying around Bo’s inhaler literally saved his life. The whole back firing of Cam trying to see if he was into guys or just Bo and then thinking Bo and Noah slept together.

The found family here is so good. Noah is freaking hilarious and I just love him so much. The ending of the book - I hope we get to see a certain scene later on. And the teaser we get for the next book - I’m so ready!

All in all, this book had me in all my feels and I’m so happy that Bo got the guy he’s been in love with. There is so much in this book that will make you fall in love with each and every single one of these characters.

I received a copy of this book and this is my honest review.

🏍️my thoughts:
THE WAY that I immediately texted my book besties about this book 👀 It's so mf good. These two beautiful boys, broken in their own ways but struggling with their feelings, really had me on the edge of the seat. Waiting for them to make a moveC to communicate what exactly they were feeling, to embrace their thoughts. Ngl I wanted to bop them in the head during some moments. Like Cam. I swear this golden retriever idiot 😂 Tbh I would want someone like him but hopefully a little more communicative, same with Bo.

Sophie's writing really made you empathize with Cam and Bo through their struggles, especially with the hesitancy of wanting something so bad but worrying that you're not good enough. I damn near teared up at some scenes because of this, but I also had several chuckling moments, mostly when Cam and Bo were teasing each other, or when Noah would come into the picture. I haven't read the first two books in the series but I definitely will be 😌

I highly recommend this book for those who love a good long friends to lovers arc with failed hookup attempts, insecure men who learn to communicate, and a funny friend who doesn't know when to shut up lol

I usually read a book of this length in one, maybe two days at most, but this time I felt like I wasn’t ready for it to end. So I just kept dragging it out, and out, and out, because I wanted to read it for as long as possible.
Sad news: I still reached the end.

Bo and Cam’s friendship was simply adorable, just like Bo’s feelings. It’s such a shame Cam was blind and didn’t see the obvious signs. I was mad at Cam so many times — and I understand why he acted the way he did, he was confused — but I was still mad at him 🤷🏻‍♀️ even though I knew they’d end up together, because there’s no Cam without Bo, and no Bo without Cam. They just belong together 🥹
And even though the story was quite a slow burn, I loved every single moment they spent together 🥹

Bo and Noah’s friendship — and Noah’s appearance in general — brought exactly as many funny moments as I expected, and Jamie and Cam’s friendship, oh my god, that was so needed.
It was the kind of thing I didn’t even realize I needed until I got it, and now I don’t ever want to let it go.

And the bonus — something I never thought I’d say — I actually started to like Mark 😒 even though I really didn’t want to.

Sophie, once again you’ve created something absolutely fantastic. Thank you for letting me be a part of this miracle 🥰

I received this book as an ARC, and this is my honest, voluntary review.

I was lucky enough to receive an ARC, and I’m so glad I did!

I’m a big fan of the Splintered Hearts series, so getting to read this installment early felt like such an honor.

Bo is an absolutely adorable, deeply relatable character with a huge heart. He’s a late bloomer with what seems like a one-sided crush on his best friend, Cam. Every time Cam gets his heart broken, Bo is right there to pick up the pieces. Their friendship is beautifully written, and you can feel the love between them on every page.

Of course, a spur-of-the-moment kiss sends Cam spiraling into questioning his feelings and experiencing bi/Bo-awakening. With a little help from their friends, he untangles his feelings and realizes he likes Bo.

And once the spice started… oh wow did it get steamy. The piano scene? 🙈 Absolute perfection.

One of my favorite parts of the book was getting more moments with Noah and Jamie. Noah is easily one of my all-time favorite characters, and seeing his friendship with Bo—and getting Bo’s perspective from their failed hookup—was super interesting and added so much depth.

On par with the previous books in this series, the humor is top-tier. There were so many moments that had me giggling and blushing.

I’m already looking forward to the next Splintered Hearts release!

Y’all know that childhood best friends to lovers is one of my favorite tropes and this book did not disappoint. This book is pining and yearning that I love to read in friends to lovers romance.

Cam and Bo completely stole my heart from the beginning. My heart broke for the both of them. They were so adorable together and it was so sweet how they both took care of each other. Cam is the sweetest guy and he didn’t deserve what he went through as a child but Bo was always there for him. Their relationship is beautiful.

The found family aspect in this series is my favorite and I loved that the author had written in the other characters in this series in this book. I loved Noah and Bo’s friendship so much and Cam’s and Jamie’s friendship too. It was so nice to see them all hanging out together.

What I also love about this book is the celiac disease representation. Bo has celiac disease so he has to eat gluten free food and as someone who has celiac disease it made me really happy to see myself in a character that way.

Overall, I am really loving this series so much, each book is so good and I can’t wait for the next one. Thank you to the author for sending me an ARC to read and review.

Fractured Souls
By Sophie Quinn
ARC Review

I have been an arc reader for Sophie since Splintered Hearts. I love this series so much. Sophie adds all the feels into her books. The latest in the Splintered Hearts Universe is Fractured Souls. Bo and Cam have been best friends since they were little kids. When Cam goes through yet another break up Bo is there to help him through it. Bo has been secretly in love with his best friend for years. Then one kiss happens that they both can’t stop thinking about leaving Cam confused about his new feelings and Bo hoping this will finally be his chance and won’t get hurt in the end.
They are so adorable loved reading their story.

🍓🍌🍓
Fractured Souls is book 3 in the Splintered Hearts series, however this could technically be read as a standalone. I have not read the previous two books (but will, now) and was able to follow along with side characters and their stories without a problem.

Apparently, my love for best friends-to-lovers is catching up with my normal love of enemies-to-lovers! This book have me all of the gooey feels. Bo & Cam are so incredibly sweet and I adore the original dynamic of their friendship, which eventually leads to both falling for one another. Bo has known for years, but never imagined that his straight best friend would feel the same. It just takes Cam a while longer, which includes some bad relationships & breakups and some deep soul searching.

Love love love this book and would definitely recommend if you enjoy the friends-to-lovers trope! And BIG cheers to their 🥵 spicy times! 👏🏼

ARC READ: i devoured this book in less than a day!
I seriously love this series so much that I just never want it to end, especially with all these side characters, you can’t help but to want to know their story as well.
I was so curious about Bo & Cam’s story after reading splintered hearts.
Bo is amazing and a best friend everyone wishes they had in their life, so strong and caring and Cam……ugh he’s literally the sweetest, golden retriever type, but oh so oblivious to peoples true intentions and he just wants to be loved and cherished. After everything Cam has been through, I’m so glad he has someone so amazing as Bo in his life and who doesn’t love a good childhood friends to lovers trope. They are perfect for each other and I’m so glad Cam opened his eyes and figured out his true underlying feelings and figured out what love really was. My heart hurt so much about the little boy he was and so broken.
I cannot wait to read about Aiden’s story, especially getting a few snip it’s of him in this one.

I absolutely loved this book! Cam and Bo completely stole my heart. This best friends-to-lovers story was everything I wanted and more—sweet, heartfelt, and beautifully written. I couldn’t put it down and ended up reading straight through the night because I just had to know how their story unfolded.

I especially loved the demi representation in Cam—it was handled with so much care and authenticity. Watching him slowly realize his feelings for Bo and come to terms with his identity felt so real and touching. The chemistry between these two was perfect—years of friendship turning into something deeper in such an organic, emotionally satisfying way.

This author’s writing is warm, thoughtful, and full of heart. The pacing, the dialogue, the tenderness—it all worked together perfectly. I can’t wait for the next book!

If you love slow-burn, best-friends-to-lovers stories with genuine emotion and authentic queer representation, this is absolutely one to add to your TBR! 💕

ARC Review: Bo and Cam's best friends to lovers story was so good. Bo has pretty much been in love with Cam since the beginning when he knew what love was and Cam is just is oblivious best friend who is always in a relationship with some girl who doesn't truly accept him for who he is. Cam goes through yet another breakup thats brings him to live back with Bo. Living with Cam is just becoming harder each time for Bo has he feels the love for Cam will never be reciprocated and this is only made worse as Cam decides to see if he is into men and goes onto a date with a man for the first time. Bo believes that its not because he's a man but just because he's him and he doesn't think he is good enough or handsome enough to Cam. This is definitely a slow burn with high spice and it seems it takes Cam FOREVER to realize he is in love with Bo but they do get their HEA.

Once again Noah is just pure perfection I really hope to continue to see more of him.

“I love making you smile.”

Bo & Cam are 😍

Their story was filled with tension, drama and so much angst!!!! It was perfect 👌🏽

Bo was the sweetest, but Cam had my heart. He struggled so much 🥹 his exes were terrible and mean. He was a cutie pie. He needed someone who wouldn't leave him and that was Bo. He just had to open his eyes and realize it...

The friendship between Noah and Bo was adorable and fantastic. I loved them more than Mark and Noah 🤷🏽‍♀️😅 Noah is such a character, he's the best 😂

I freaking loved Jamie even more!! He has had the best character development in this series. He's still grumpy but his relationship with Cam was amazing. He gave such good advice, that whole scene was sweet, hilarious and perfect. ❤️‍🩹

I enjoyed this book so so much!! I can't wait to find out more about Aiden!! He was so over Cam's relationship drama 🤣 He's very intriguing. I'm looking forward to his story and I hope its with Sawyer, even though he's looking for a unicorn 😂

This was so good! I have read every one of Sophie Quinn’s books and I have loved them all. Bo and Cam were so adorable together and Bowen is the sweetest and the cutest!! I loved their friendship. They were so supportive and caring of one another and could read each other so well. Their lifelong friendship was apparent and I loved it!

Cam’s struggle with the changes in their relationship dynamic felt honest. Not only was he changing from what he thought he knew about himself but it involved his best friend, the only person who has been his constant.

I loved Bo and Noah’s bond! Noah will always be the chaos this group needs! The found family in this series is so good, Bo and Cam both needed and deserved the additional love and support they brought. I love seeing everyone together! So glad I got to pick this up!!

This is is truly Best Friends to Lovers. Been Friends with eachother for over 20 years. Bo and Cam are eachother safe places. Always needing eachother. In the beginning of the book you can tell they both truly love eachother but Cam didn't know what he was feeling was more then Friends feelings.
With their pasts really made their love come alive. Cam past thinking that's how parents show their love. And just wanted to find a partner to truly love him and never leave him.
It was a beautiful book, and my first Sophie Quinn book. I will be definitely reading the beginning of the series and I can't wait until the next book in series.

Bo and Cam grab my heart and did not let it go. I read this book in one sitting. I tried to put it down to sleep, and just couldn't, these boys had me in a chokehold.
This is part of an interconnected series, if you have not read the first to you will be be able to follow just fine. However, I highly recommend reading how Mark, Hunter, Noah and Jamie all started.
Bo and Cam's journey was an emotional roller-coaster. Sometimes I wanted to shake them both and others I was swooning with hearts in my eyes. Cam has this big golden retriever interior and strong exterior, so sexy! Then Bo, his forever constant beautiful inside and out.
The found family makes this book even better. The banter is absolutely hilarious. I am looking forward to the next book!!

Bo has been in love with his bestie, Cam for years and once again he is supporting Cam through yet another heartbreak. Every time thinking maybe this might be his chance, even though Cam is straight.

Accidental sleepy almost handy though changes things.. leads to a kiss that neither of them can stop thinking about but Cam is confused and doesn’t understand the new feelings he’s having and Bo is trying to not get hurt - again.

This was such a fabulous story, the wanting, the mostly having, the spice was great, exploring this new thing between them! Loved it!

*I received this eARC for free in exchange for my honest review.*

I really wanted to like this book. The best friends to lovers trope is always very interesting and adds a whole other level to the characters' dynamic, but this felt very repetitive. The dialogue left a lot to be desired and the plot was quite stagnant at times. I loved the dynamic between Noah and Bo and the whole friend group but some of the interactions were super cringe. I finished this book and I enjoyed most of what I read but it was quite difficult to get through at times.

“There is no Bowen Zhao without Camden Almeida. We are a pair.”
.
.
Fractured Souls is the quintessential, “it’s always been you” read. Bo and Cam are inseparable, and quite frankly, friendship goals. Through life’s ups and downs, these two have been each other’s constant. However, Bo has a secret. For as long as he can remember, he’s been in love with Cam.

After yet another failed relationship, Cam is questioning everything. Is he immature? Is he boring? Is he not all that bright? The only thing that remains steadfast is Bo and the safety he provides.

Through various incidents, and essentially moving in with Bo, Cam starts to see his best friend in a different light. A kiss here, and a “buddle” there, soon Cam and Bo begin to blur the lines between friendship and something more. Fractured Souls is about seeing what’s right in front of you and being loved unapologetically by “your person”.

One of the elements I’d like ot highlight is the found family aspect. It’s a cornerstone in Splinterverse, with Fractured Souls being no exception. From the already formed friend group of Noah, Jamie, Hunter, Mark, etc, to how quickly Camden and Bo assimilated into the group. Furthermore, the friendship that blossomed between Noah and Bo is so heartwarming.

The growth and appearance of some of our favs are worth mentioning as well. The evolution of Jamie’s character and how Noah’s personality has aided his healing journey. We get glimpses of the bromance of Hunter, Jamie, and Cam. Plus, I love seeing the broody vampire that is Jamie giving relationship advice. And of course, I’d be remiss if I didn’t acknowledge the chaos gremlin that is Noah. With his witty banter, usage of ridiculously funny nicknames, and overall sass, he’s quite literally the perfect friend.

Fractured Souls has a little something for everybody. Banter, found family, caretaking, spice, and MMCs who make us swoon. Also, if you pay close attention, you may meet the next couple you’re bound to fall for. Overall, Fractured Souls is another fantastic installment in the Splinterverse.

I enjoyed Noah’s character the most.
I liked the progress of thinking about feelings and behaviors towards the other over time.
I think the story is cute, perhaps the internal struggles of the characters a bit drawn out.
I did have a hard time believing a straight man would be that affectionate with another man to the degree that they were.
I enjoyed how all the small pieces came all together in the end.
A cute story with good character growth and development.

When reading this story, it felt like I was on an emotional rollercoaster between Cam and Bo! I loved everything about this relationship. Cam really tried to figure out who he was throughout this very relatable story. It was fast-paced and slow at the same time. The last part, though is very mysterious and I can't wait to read more of what is to come! At least I am hoping there is more coming! The author's writing was vivid, and I could visualize everything that was described!

BO AND CAM ARE SO FREAKING PRECIOUS!

Bo has loved his best friend Cam from very early on. The pining he did for Cam, ugh, I love him. Cam is honestly a sweet baby and so oblivious to Bo's feelings. Little by little, Cam is starting to see Bo in a new light. I love these two precious souls! Also, I love the gang, and Noah is a hoot!!

So good!

I LOVE Bo and Cam. The middle name thing they do is ADORABLE.
Such a great story and it was so fun to see the other side of interactions from the other books. I can't wait for the next one!
Romance, longing, angst, heartbreak, spice, and an incredible friendship - so SO good!

Fractured Souls is the third book in the Splintered Hearts series and can be read as a standalone, it's the first book I've read in the series but I will be doing my best to read the first two now. This is a slow burn, found family, sexual awakening, friends to lovers read about Bo and Cam. I absolutely adored this story and I can't wait to read more from this series.

ARC Review

It was honestly such a fun read. It made me remember so much about how I came to terms with my sexuality and how difficult it was to realize I liked a someone more than just being friends. The characters are all so well written and a few side characters are from her other books I didn’t even notice until I fell in love with them too.
