In Full Figured 7 , Carl Weber brings together two literary divas to give readers what they’ve been asking empowering and entertaining stories about big, beautiful women. Sassy, sophisticated and sensual are the three adjectives Sugar uses to define her personality, her style, and her shapely curves. Fiercely confident about her luxurious, full-figured body, Sugar sashays through Chicago’s nightlife, belting high notes as a well-known singing sensation. Idolized by many, only few know her she and her long-time manager Ace share more than a common passion for Sugar’s career. They’re lovers.
This is a two part novel. Sugar on the Side deals with the improbable rise of an R & B singer whose sexuality is bursting at the seams. It seems like coming out could have been easier than losing a memory card with personal pics. The plot was predictable. Queen Con wasn't much better. Carlos and Najah, aka Alicia, a cop, were a high school item that were separated by secrets. Alicia had a sham marriage that was interrupted by a gay encounter. Her husband was involved in shade. It was wacky with not too much plot development.
I felt like I was there reading this book due to the fact of the setting being in my hometown of Hampton Roads, VA. I was expecting something different. Didn’t see how it was related to Full Figured because that was barely mentioned. However, the storyline was decent.
Differences between large and small women in the public eye are now viewed with renewed compassion. This book looks at the music industry, as well as the gay life style and view of both. I found it a bit childish though in maturity, therefore I give it this score.
In the second story led me to believe this book was written for the teenagers point of view. It would give them help with self esteem issues.
