this has absolutely NO RIGHT to be this fun. The Shadow and Batman stuff alone is perfection. but the fact that each character has like a team up moment... iconic. this is so fun

Not much because it’s part 1 but so far it’s peak, seeing the sonic characters and how they act with their “DC counterparts” is so fun, the way sonic and flash have their banter, and Batman and Shadow brood around. just the combination of my 2 favorite things into one is so amazing, not just the comic but the toys and the merch, for me personally it’s just such an amazing thing to see.

A DC Comics tem feito diversos crossovers com personagens mais diversos. Sonic é um personagem que foi criado durante a minha infância e atualmente vejo crianças como o meu afilhado também curtindo o personagem. Assim como os super-heróis, tem personagens que permanecem atemporais, seja lá quando tenham sido criados. Por isso, um encontro entre os universos DC e do porco-espinho corredor azul não é uma ideia tão estapafúrdia. Mas claro, as histórias precisam ser reguladas para o público de Sonic, então temos uma trama mais café-com-leite, mas que não deixa de levar em conta as características de cada personagem e as semelhanças entre cada universo narrativo. Um detalhe da edição brasileira, que foi bastante caprichada, foi o de trazer um glossário sobre os personagens e locais do universo do Sonic, que muitos leitores talvez não conheçam ou não estejam acostumados. Eles fazem referência aos vários jogos da franquia da Sega.

I want to give this 5 stars but it's not all that objectively but I also can't give it three, so it gets 4 by default. This crossover is so random on paper and shouldn't work, but I'm so glad they went for it. It's not gonna be anything groundbreaking in terms of story or characterization (probably) but seeing these characters interact and bond is just so special. The banter between Sonic and Flash is exactly what you'd expect. Initially I figured they were pairing up Shadow and Batman just because they were the dark, brooding ones of the groups, but having them bond over the family they lost and their reasons for why they fight is so simple but so brilliant.

Hey man…that’s pretty good. Honestly such a great start, from the comedy, to the character interactions, to the story, to the art, everything in this is really good and fills me with glee!! This issue opens exactly how you would expect it to…with Sonic trying to enjoy a chili dog, with tails and any, right as a giant darkseid shaped globe infiltrates their world through a portal. Immediately parademons begin to invade and our furry heroes begin to use their skills to fight them off. I love how the parademons look like the perfect villains for sonic to bounce off of at super speed. But either way so many boom tubes opening up at once, sonic drags along tails and Amy for a strategic retreat to check on everyone else and regroup.

Which is the best possible move, we they aren’t the only ones being affected. WE immediately jump over to knuckles on the floating: Angel island, as he continues to fight off the parademons heading towards the master emerald floating the island in the sky. The gem also has the power to neutralize what darkseid is looking for, so he orders Desaad to completely destroy it and the island with it. And with knuckles still on the island, all it takes is one large energy beam to get the job done.

Meanwhile Sonic and his pals have arrived to find sunset city under attack. He leaves tails and Amy behind so he can go on ahead…and he immediately begins running alongside another speedster…the flash! Hilariously flash thought sonic was a DC character named Krakkl until he realized he was a local. They immediately begin to argue about who the fastest actually is.

Flash: “Listen, kid. I’m the flash…I’m “speed personified!”

Sonic: “Then I am “speed” perfected!”

The other character interactions are just as good. Silver was having trouble using his powers to move the parademons around as there were too many…until John Stewart showed up to start blasting down the parademons he already lined up. Batman and shadow both took down a parade Mon who chased a civilian into a dark alley, and didn’t even have to say anything when they were done. Just a glance of mutual respect. Amy and tails ended up dealing with a giant robot in town, and were aided by a lasso and energy cannon by Wonder Woman and cyborg to take it down. Right as they do, Kalibak shows his nasty face…only for nuckles to appear out of nowhere and do that anime silver eye glint thing…and knock kalibak directy into the ground. Only for Superman to swoop in for a secondary attack and really take him down. Turns out Superman saved knuckles right as Angel island blew up, you can even go back and see the Superman swoosh, and they are very much acquainted.

Now that everyone is gathered it’s time for a roll call section to introduce all the characters and the situation they are in. After the intros, cyborg explains that they are dealing with darkseid and his ever lasting search for the anti life equation. He now intends to find the power on their world to get it or fuel his satellite called “Ragna Rock” (hahaha, ragnarok, get it?) to continue invading other multiversal worlds. So of course, this means that darkseid is after the chaos emeralds. They did have a method to counter the emeralds…but darkseid just blew it up. And with that, before they can even create a plan, shadow decides he’s had enough and he will head off to deal with it himself. This then leads to another perfect character moment where Batman goes to talk to shadow, and immediately clocks their situations as similar when he asks shadow: “Who was it?…The one you couldn’t protect. The one you watched die in front of you.” Shadow and Batman then share their experiences about Maria and Batman’s parents and their fight to never let it happen again…but Batman is willing to use every advantage at his disposal…including the Justice league. Shadow is also a valuable asset and they need him as much as he needs them. Batman can be quite convincing to get shadow to change his mind.

With the team now fully regrouped it’s time for planning. Tails has been developing a tracking system for the emeralds but it’s still in alpha. Cyborg decides to tag along with tails and see if he can get it working while everyone else goes out and searches on their own. This leads to some more great character interactions. But my favorite by far is Batman and shadow not talking and just driving their motorcycles to the next location. Cyborg was able to integrate some of the mother ox software to upgrade tails system tenfold, and I love this final moment where flash is completely surprised that sonic is just a “normal” hedgehog and was born that way. But out two speedsters are also the first to hit trouble. As they approach the green hills on South Island (because of course you need to start there) they immediately find darkseid…and he is already holding a blue chaos emerald. Hahaha, already off to a great start!!

Menyenangkan banget baca ini.

Inti ceritanya, Darkseid cari dunia lain menggunakan motherbox dan mereka ke universe lain, dimana dunia itu adalah tempat sonic tinggal.

Darkseid berencana menghancurkan emerald yg di jaga knuckles. Karena kekuatan emerald itu bisa utk mengalahkan motherbox-nya Darkseid.

Singkat cerita, saat Sonic and the gang (ada : Sonic, Tails, Emy, Knuckles, Shadow dan Silver Sonic) bertarung melawan anak buah Darkseid, para Justice League juga tiba di dunia itu untuk membantu mereka. Sehingga team-up mereka menjadi seperti ini :

Sonic x Flash
Knuckles x Superman
Shadow x Batman
Emy x Wonder Woman
Tails x Cyborg
Silver Sonic x Green lantern

Mereka bahu membahu untuk mengalahkan Darkseid. Dan masih bakal ada lanjutannya...

So far kalau baca dari DC Connect (Katalognya komik DC) bakal ada sampai buku ketiga dan kayaknya bakal lanjut terus.

Another questionable read from the queen of reading/watching/playing literally anything put out by Sega.... I like my Hamilton/Sonic crossover way better than whatever the heck this was. Not even gonna bother to read the other editions. As someone who's been a Sonic fan since I was 5 I think I know a bad crossover when I see one. They coulda leaned more into the lore of both sides and really tied it in rather than whatever this shallow adventure was.
Decent idea, bad execution.
I'm going to go reread Great Expectations by Charles Dickens to bleach my brain before delving into anything else.
Sega just bring back Elise already pls ;-;

This is a very biased review as I'm a huge DC Comics fan AND a Sonic fanatic - this was a treat from start to finish! Awesome art and coloring. I loved all interactions between the Sonic and Justice League, especially Shadow and Batman. If you told me this crossover was going to be a thing a decade ago, I wouldn't have believed you. I can't wait to read the rest!

Darkseid stealing one of Shadow's lines in SA2 had me laughing out loud lmao, what an iconic way to end this issue. I know IDW tend to reference/reuse lines from the games, but this one takes the cake!

Such a fun read. I like how they paired the Justice Leage with the Sonic team based on their personalities and powers. Ofcourse Shadow gets paired with Batman since they're both brooding characters with a dark past. Still, I loved their little interaction in the comic and the interactions from the rest of the team with the other sonic characters! I also love how Sonic is now canonically faster than the Flash lol! Can't wait for issue 2!

Very interesting mash-up between the Justice League and the Sonic the Hedgehog universes. The first part was a little too close to Marvel's Infinity War/Endgame saga, but it was really cool to see the Sonic characters take over the Justice League roles (Sonic = The Flash, etc.). There was a satisfying ending and a tease for further crossover adventures.

A solid start to this crossover, though the contents of the issue are fairly paint-by-numbers. Still, it's very well executed and the art and colours are beautiful too.

One very mundane fact about this issue is that you never see Batman's chest symbol outside of the front cover.

Because of this comic (and watching the new Superman movie) I realized that I'd much prefer if Mr. Terrific had Cyborg's spot on the League.

That said this comic is really well-written as a summary for the characters (more the DC ones than the Sonic ones) and paced. Can't wait for the rest

It’s just so much fun. I’m an absolute sucker for this kind of cheesiness. The art is nice and cute, the action is fun, and it’s just a fast read. I rate it a 5/5 because it had me smiling from ear to ear the whole time with how silly the concept is and how fun the execution was.
