When the timeless love between Saul and Victoria begins to unravel, it may take Austin coming to terms with himself to put it all back together. Set in Dallas, Texas, this is a Contemporary Romance series with light BDSM elements and mature themes. Each book will be a complete story, no cliffhangers. In book 3, three lives collide, and it could bring The Stables down with them. This book is intended for mature readers and contains romantic scenes of intimacy, including m/m and m/m/f. This book does include light BDSM themes.
Saul Victoria hangs my moon. She’s the reason I get up in the morning and try so hard not to screw things up. I know I fail at that all the time, but I try. I love her, but it’s not enough. I’m too stupid, or something, because I just can’t figure it out. Inseparable since we were kids, now suddenly she’s pushing away and nothing I seem to do can pull her back to me.
Victoria Sometimes when you love someone, you have to push them away even if it hurts. And it hurts. It hurts so much, but I can’t let him hold onto me. Saul’s never loved anyone but me, but I don’t know if that’s because he’s never tried. I don’t think he knows, either. It’s something he needs to figure out, because when you end up bound to someone for life simply because they were the first person there who gave half a shit, you can come to hate that binding as much as a rope around your neck.
Austin What do I want? I’ve been told what to do for so damn long that I have no idea how to answer that question. All I do know is that a storm is coming. I can feel it in every part of this place that I’ve called home since I got my freedom. Saul and Victoria are heading in opposite directions and pulling The Stables apart at the seams. I think, maybe, they just need someone to connect them again. Someone to help them find the common ground, and maybe they can help me understand the answer to that first question I can never seem to answer.
C.E. Kilgore (1981 - ) is an author without genre, who likes to dabble in several genres from romance to science fiction. She also enjoys pushing the boundaries of those genres, trying new things, venturing outside formulas and turning tropes on their heads. Admittedly a control freak, she is currently a self-published author under the name Tracing The Stars, and hasn't quite found the publisher who fits all her quirks. This was one I was a bit unsure of reading when I read the blurb, but since I loved her previous books, this was a must to give it a go. So glad that I did. These three characters so lost and confused on their feelings and unsure of the others. Other plots going on around them to confuse their own issues. A must read.
No plot spoilers No potential triggers I don't recall any errors There are some sex scenes, MMF. There is some swearing. The characterisation is perfect, with individual personalities and motivators that allows the reader to at least understand why they act the way that they do. The plotline is a complex web of emotional needs as they struggle to move forward in what has the potential to be a relationship minefield. I struggled with the storyline if I am honest, not least because of the level of deception these friends have indulged in. I also struggled with Austin, because although he is beautifully written, I don't find him believable. There is no way a gay man suddenly indulges in sexual activity with a woman. I do understand where the author was coming from and the aim of the book but that was a stumbling block for me. I know menage takes different forms, but this one felt doomed. I also found Saul's childish reasoning and behaviour a bit forced. I was not able to form the connection to the characters that I have in previous books. That said, I loved some parts of the book, Victoria's family being a highlight. I have no problem recommending the series but would advise reading from the beginning to obtain a the best reading experience.
This is the 3rd book in a 6 part series and one of the most complex. It follows on from the first 2 books by telling the stories of 3 of the characters introduced in Book 1. Saul is a bisexual character ignoring his attraction to men and in love with a female member of the club. Very well written with multi - dimensional characters. This wasn't my favourite book out of the series , but it's still okay. All the books are interlinked really well. All are good as stand alone novels, but you are really missing out if you don't read them as the whole set. Can't wait for the rest .
I don't know where the inspiration for this book came from but thank you! The many many varieties of love experienced in the book is heart warming. Friends, lovers, and family both found and blood are described so beautifully.
Each book in this series addresses some social issue but shows love is what matters.
He's been in love with his best friend and has watched him with her the other person he loves. Always on the sidelines until they are forced to face the truth so they can find their HEA.
Wow another amazing book in this series. I love this group of people, messed up and broken though they may be, the family they create for themselves is so full of love that it warns my heart and brings me to tears! Loved it! Highly recommended.
I loved this book hard. Book 3 in The Stables series continues with the same group of unique, beautiful characters we first met in All These Pieces of Me, except this book is dedicated to Saul, Austin, and Victoria. I was very interested to see where the author took this relationship, asking myself: Is someone going to be hurt? Would it truly be a threesome? How would a threesome work if one of the characters is gay? And I can assure you, all of these questions are answered; with heart, tenderness, humor, and a realism that had me cheering for the characters and happily flowing through the story. This book *is* about a beautiful love between three people, and it's perfect. The only time I stopped to see how far I had read was towards the end as I bemoaned, "I don't want this to end so soon!" The sex scenes are magnificent, with the BDSM elements sweet and sexy. The Dominant/submissive roles are much more clearly defined and noticeable than they were in book 2, Ian's story, and I loved everything it brought to this story. Saul had me laughing when he said: "Okay, so you like a good boy in bed? That's me to a T. Well, I can be good, but sometimes it takes a firm hand to bring me in line." Read the book, and find out how Saul fared with his teasing, I promise you won't regret it! ;)
I was disappointed in this book. It had such good possibilities but I was mainly disappointed in the end. I really like Saul but he drove me nuts in this book, mainly because of his accent. I can understand being submissive in the bedroom but he seemed like that in his life in general. I really felt for Austin because he is a good person who happened to make stupid choices in his life but at least Brandon gave him a chance to turn his life around. Once the three of them got back to The Stables, I was looking foward to see how Austin and Victoria would handle Saul with all of the BDSM equipment but the story just ends. If Austin is thinking what I think he is, then both of Sarah's kids belong to Kyle, not her husband Rob. Guess I will have to wait until the next book comes out to find out what happened between them.
I actually liked this book, the storyline was good. I liked the dynamic between Saul/Vicky/Austin. I wasn't looking forward to Kyle/Sarah story until i read this book because that secret is going to be a goo reveal.
The whole story was focused on telling Victoria's family about the threesome, in was annoying. I kept thinking okay something is going to happen, well no nothing happened. Very disappointing.
