read this as belated sex ed. the author is very funny and i really had to laugh at some of her words. this book is also quite informative, though it mainly assumes heterosexuality; there is some mention and some delving into LGBT sexuality. my biggest complaint is that the way she answers some of the more sensitive questions is really not very helpful...

I expected more of a scientific introduction to the ins and outs of sex (pun intended). But this book is more like a parent giving general advice to their children. More specifically, it's like a mother giving advice to her teenage daughter. Even more specifically, it's about an open-minded American mother, giving advice to her teenage daughter. It's very opinionated, has a lot of redundancy and irrelevant content, and most of the time it's not at all scientific. There are some things to be taken away from reading this, but I'm sure there are much better sources out there.

I like how this doesn’t beat around the bush. It gives you the facts in a straightforward way. It’s also pretty humorous, making it more enjoyable to read. I think that’s a good technique for presenting this topic to its intended audience.

It’s super informative - even I learned a thing or two. I think I could have really benefited from reading this when I was a bit younger. We all know that sex-ed in American high school is not the best. Almost any question you had about sex when you were a teenager is answered here.

This book was very helpful! It did touch a lot of sensitive topics with a certain lightness. However, it does tend to assume heterosexuality in a lot of the chapters, despite including queer topics. It's also very binary-based. I'd love to see some non-binary topics being navigated by this author, since they do tend to add a certain joke-based mood to their writing. I'd give my young adult this book to read answer any follow-up questions that they had if i had a kid lol

Doing some research as I prepare to parent a teenager in the next few years. This seems like an approachable, accessible book to provide information on topics that may be too “cringe” to effectively explain them to my offspring

A decent read for young people and gives info. Assumes heterosexuality most of the time but does touch on LGBT sex as well.

Absolutely loved this book! I run an online blog regarding life lessons, advice and sex; SarahGelfman.tumblr.com and this helped a lot whereas I can open up more with my readers due to the extensive amount of knowledge that was packed in this.

It's very informative and I believe Nikol Hasler truly did a wonderful job touching base with all topics there is that relates to Sex and both, the female and male anatomy. It's an eye opener to getting more in touch with your body and learning about it so you don't have to feel awkward or weirded out by what you didn't use to know.

A lovely idea for gifting to a tween or teen in that stage of life where they're having a difficulty opening up about their body.

5 Stars. Highly recommended!!!

I would challenge a few things about the content of this book:

Discussion of anatomy relies on a non-existent binary (girls have a vulva/vagina, boys have a penis/testicles).

In the section on menstruation, it is stated: "If you find yourself craving foods that are greasy or fatty, it is OK to indulge a little bit. Just don't overdo it." This creates an uncomfortable link to body image and shame.

and more to come...

Very straightforward; well written for teens - the humor was enough to make it an enjoyable read without taking away from the importance of the subject.

The part I thought was well addressed was online safety. She addressed sexting, pornography and social media safety.

"No sexual subject is off-limits in this explicit book, so enlightening that adults just might it as edifying as teens do! Highly recommended." -Clint Travis, Midwest Book Review

Reissue of her previous book with updated info. Big fan of her podcast back in the day. I hope she is able to do more in the future. I'm of the opinion that she is very talented.

This book has useful information, but I did not appreciate the "Mom Jokes" which seemed painfully out of place.
