Mapping a New Reality: Discovering Intuitive Intelligence

Rate this book
Inside each of us lies an invisible Map of Reality that profoundly impacts our lives. When we learn to use this Map, we can transform pain and persistent challenges into inner gifts and positive life purpose.
Mapping a New Reality describes this inner Map through stories, beginning with Therese Rowley's childhood mystic experiences at Catholic Mass. Therese invites us to understand her spiritual gifts that include seeing energy, articulating and healing emotional challenges, and communicating with those who have passed. She sees these gifts as part of the intuitive intelligence we all possess.
As a strategic change business consultant for over 25 years, Rowley describes her work with corporate clients as well as individual clients to explain how to transform pain into wisdom. As a medium, Rowley lends insight into the perspectives and lessons learned by those on The Other Side. Finally, intuitive readings of "The New Children," who Rowley calls "our future leaders." These Readings reveal an invitation to broaden our map of reality to include their unique genius.
Mapping a New Reality urges us to claim the power of our intuitive intelligence, so that we can clear the way to reaching our full potential - personally, at work and as a planet.

I won this with GoodReads (FirstReads) and so am giving a review.

I originally gave it 3 stars, and then decided that might be a bit too high and biased due to receiving it, and lowered it to 2. If GoodReads allowed - I'd give it 2.5; which I will do on LibraryThing which allows that (and is a better site anyway.......)

As some have said - this isn't really a book about FINDING a/your new reality to map yourself with (least of all your brain as the cover would imply). It is half-autobiography and half-self-history of stories/readings/experiences in the "spiritualism" or "mystic" or "out-there" side of things.

I slowly found myself liking the book less and less as I read on. The autobiography portion was fine, and I enjoyed it, but my plausibility, and "suspension of disbelief" proved to become strained as I read through the readings and other things.

The section on children particularly is where after thoughtful review made it drop from *** to **1/2. Particularly the bit about spoon-bending. How 'convenient' that the most interesting stuff of her experiences with the children at the conference came with the 'cameras not rolling'. (Especially the spoon-bending bit; which just stretches ALL suspension of disbelief).

I am not calling Therese a liar or a cheat or a sneak or charlatan or trying to pull a fast one. But I just don't fully believe any of this, and her book doesn't give me a reason to either. It just states "well I did a reading, and poof, magically -wow- I was right! Go figure!" (Who would have believed otherwise in her own book?)

Readings, medium work, etc, will also be a touchy-subject, fishy, only believed by those "in the know" or "on the inside". And books like this don't prove or give reason to join the inside other than "see, I did it! I did it!" with no empirical proof, backings, or even visual evidence.

Like I said, the book definitely lost me once it turned into the medium work and other things that just go beyond what science has shown, and I just can't truly "map my reality" around that just on hear-say.

Sorry Therese

Well I won this book in one of the many great give-aways goodreads has and didnt really know too much what to expect.

What I did think I was going to get was a sort of self help book that helped you maybe "map a new reality" or life or whatever. What I got was a womans appraisal of her work as a psychic and medium for other people.

Its literally a collection of cases that Therese Rowley has performed for clients searching for ease of mind or help communicating with spirits of loved ones. I figured maybe there would be some of these cases in the book to give you reference to the work that Dr. Rowley has done and to give credit to this craft that I think is a bit fishy. But being intuitive is something to believe. And I am sure Therese is among very few that are this gifted. I was just really hoping for something that would help ME. Unless the goal of the book is to set up an appointment with Dr. Rowley?? Then I may be helped.

The book was constructed oddly but only because the whole book was just a collage of stories about the people Therese helped. The last section and smallest connected the most with me as it was about how are children are growing up misdiagnosed with ADD and ADHD when really they have just different ways of learning. I dig that. I definitely think we are throwing drugs at the problem with the youth of today and not trying to just change the construct of learning for individual children.

I am still stoked to win a book and enjoyed reading the stories. I wouldnt even mind meeting Therese and having her do a reading on me :)

This book was interesting to read! It was very interesting to read about her spiritual path and her relationship with Spirit! I loved reading about her life although I agree with another review.....it did not help me map my reality but it was fun reading about how she mapped hers :).
