Palmer does a great job outlining the history, technology, and economics behind the current state of TV. He also does a good job highlighting some of the issues and possibilities for the next generation of the medium. You might not finish the book feeling like you know what the true options might be, but you'll at least have a better understanding of the driving factors behind the options currently being considered. Wide ranging, informed, and useful.

If anyone asks me "What is the future of the media business?" and "What do I need to know to survive?" I tell them to read this book. I read the first edition when it came out in the Spring of 2006 and I am looking forward to reading the 2nd edition which just arrived in my mailbox last month.
