A tractor is more than a piece of farm machinery. It’s farmer’s partner that helps him get the hard work done. This dynamic picture book shows a big tractor from spring to harvest—planting, cultivating, harvesting, and doing other important tasks on a busy farm. Bold illustrations, coupled with a simple and lyrical text, show a tractor at work throughout the seasons.

The title page provides a brief description of the illustration style, which begins with pencil drawings and then color fills and blends within shapes are completed with computer rendering.
Key words in each double-page spread's two lines of text describe what tractors do, such as "turn up the soil", "disc and smooth the dirt", "tow the planter", and "seed the rows", for starters. Each season requires different equipment and work, as the story spans the year.
An okay book about people using tractors around the farm. The illustrations look like they were created by using Adobe Illustrator to turns the people and objects into vector line graphics.
A look at the work a tractor does throughout the different seasons of the year. I especially liked the fact that the definition of a tractor's "fun time" is during fall when people take hayrides.
The tone of the text is really fun too. The farmer talks to the tractor like a friend or a faithful companion (like a dog) making this a book that will read very well aloud.
Digital artwork is vibrant and realistic making this a book that fans of construction equipment and other types of vehicles and machinery will appreciate. PreK-2.
Sure looks like an advertisement for John Deere! In spite of this, the brief text and colorful illustrations provide a quick look at the life of a tractor on a farm, from spring to fall. The 'love' of the farmer for the tractor is obvious. This book could be a good introduction to farming as it includes some terms that may be unfamiliar to urban youngsters: disc, haymow, cultivator; but the illustrations and context give an understandable presentation. No need to stop and explain everything on the first read through, just enjoy it!
Clement offers an overview of the types of work a tractor is used for by a farmer. The vivid artwork depicts the large green tractor at work throughout the seasons of the year. Library checkout. My four year old enjoyed this because he loves tractors. The rest of us didn't care much for the illustration style. There's not much text. What there is serves to help illustrate the way the farmer depends on his tractor throughout the year and feels a fondness for it as his "Ol' Partner."
notes: shows the different tasks a man and his tractor perform over a year on a farm
opinion:great for kids obsessed with things that go and big machines. good pacing and sharp illustrations. probably not as entertaining to those not for that audience
Stylized computer-generated pictures feature the green tractor at work hauling, cutting, cultivating, having fun and then resting. Simple text gives additional information for all those eager future farmers. Reviewer 5.
Kids like books with tractors! Big Tractor introduces what the farmer does each season and the equipment he needs, so this picture book is a nice introduction to farming.
Didn't really like the illustrations at all, but it does give a nice, brief overview of what a farmer does all year. Building vocabulary for young ones.
