Best Selling Erotic, Paranormal and Contemporary Romance author Zoey Derrick comes from Glendale, Arizona. Zoey, was a mortgage underwriter by day and is now a romance and erotica novelist full-time. She writes stories as hot as the desert sun itself. It is this passion that drips off of her work, bringing excitement to anyone who enjoys a good and sensual love story. Not only does she aim to take her readers on an erotic dance that lasts the night, it allows her to empty her mind of stories we all wish were true. Her stories are hopeful yet true to life, skillfully avoiding melodrama and the unrealistic, bringing her gripping Erotica only closer to the heart of those that dare dipping into it. The intimacy of her fantasies that she shares with her readers is thrilling and encouraging, climactic yet full of suspense. She is a loving mistress, up for anything, of which any reader is doomed to return to again and again.
Dacotah is trying to move past her cheating ex-fiance when her best friends decide that a trip to Vegas is in order. When they get there Cotah sees a man across the way and he comes into the restaurant were they are eating. He stares at Cotah for a while and when he leaves, he leaves an envelope for her. Inside is all day passes to an exclusive club that they will go to the next day. When at a club and the girls are dancing, the man, Orion as Cotah has named him, shows up and dances with her. When he is near, the hairs on the back of her neck stand on end and she get goosebumps. When he propositions her to spend the week with him, she can't refuse. He is after all sexy and well off. When Cotah realizes that he is very rich, she thinks she is not good enough for him. Can Orion/Derek make her see that she is what he wants? Will Cotah finally admit that she loves him? Will she choose to go to Paris with him or will she run? This is a great story and I love the way their relationship is going. You will find Cotah and Derek in parts of the 69 Bottles series. Any of the couples that Zoey Derrick writes about are perfect. They have their ups and downs but it only makes things better.
“My body comes alive and my heart starts to beat again, my soul is on fire for her.”
“Just when I thought I couldn’t love you more, I realize that I love you so much more than should be possible.”
My Review:
This story was close to my perfect storm. An Adult Contemporary Romance, HEA, and lots of hot sizzling love scenes. Swoon. I didn’t want to put my kindle down for long so finished the story over 2 days, despite frequent annoying interruptions such as employment, sleep, spousal complaints, mealtimes, and laundry. Some echoes of 50 SOG were noted, but there were more differences than similarities. I am new to this author but plan to read more of her work. Her writing is easy to read, absorbing, entertaining, well done, and smokin’ hot. Happy dance…
What do you get when a unsophisticated, small town girl meets a rich, worldly, sexy man who has a proposition for her? Well, you get a really fun book, that is hard to put down. Oh, did I mention this all takes place in Vegas!!! It all starts when Decotah and Derrick lock eyes in a bar. Decotah is with her two besties, Mandy and Rachel. They are in Vegas because Decotah found her finance having sex with another woman. They all notice "Him", how could they not, he was gorgeous, but he had eyes only for Decotah. When he finally propositions her, she is so intrigued by him that she decides why not and says yes. The deal is she spends one week with him at his suite and is basically at his beck and call. Little does she know that he is into BDSM but it's not the main focus of the story, because he also likes vanilla sex with her too. He gently introduces her to some BDSM and she is at this point falling head over heels for him, so whatever he wants to do, she is only too agreeable to; although, she finds that she likes it too. Derrick is so easy to fall in love with; although, in the back of her mind, she knows this is only for one week and will leave him as planned to go back home at the end of the week. He wines and dines her and takes her to some amazing places, all the while having sex every minute they can. He is also falling for her and realizes that his life is so much better with her in it. The end of the book, is really heart wrenching, because you love Decotah and Derrick, and want them to be together. You will just have to read this book to see what happens, because I am not telling you. This is my first book with this author, but I will definitely read more of her books. I totally enjoyed this story! Note: Orion is the name Decotah makes up for him, before she knew his real name
I really enjoyed this story, what better way to get over a cheating d-bag ex than a fun-filled week in Vegas with your best friends? And if you happen to catch the eye of seriously hot man-candy, that just makes better. And when said man-candy makes you an offer you can't refuse, just go for it. And during your time with man-candy you learn he's a billionaire? You literally hit the jackpot.
This had a Pretty Woman-ish type vibe in the story (minus the hooker aspect), but with added kink and D/s thrown in. It was easy to understand Dacotah's feelings of being overwhelmed by everything that happened, I would be too if I'm experiencing things I'd only read about, but I'm learning this stuff in only a week.
There were some things in this book that were brought up but were explained: what happened that Derek doesn't like to be touched during sex? I was also confused as to what exactly occurred when Dacotah found Derek's play room. She freaked (obviously), but their interactions leading up to the room discovery and what happened right after I had to go back and re-read just to make sure I didn't skip something and damned if I can figure out what caused the rift between them. And the end of the book when Derek is on the phone with his PA, the PA tells Derek that she found what he was looking for and that provided it's received, it will arrive the next morning, but we never find out what the item is; he also discusses his plan of action, but again, we don't know the plan.
Overall a good story and I'm glad I got the chance to read this.
Zoey Derrick hits the mark with the truly beautiful and sensual journey of Dakota and Derrick. The characters are written with such love and passion that you can't help but be pulled into their personal struggles and their overwhelming emotional situations. A lovely way to gain some insights into these characters who also appear in Zoey Derricks 69 Bottles series.
I found this book to be a delightful read, with must passion, caring, searching, and needing with a wonderful story and plot. I did not find the BDSM to be over powering like some novels are, I found it to be perfect. At first I thought oh great here we go with the FSOG but that was not the case at all. I loved the fact that Derek leaders her into BDSM and it is not the main part of the story. If fact you are well into the story before that becomes a factor. This is the first book I have read by this author and it will not be the last.
Dacotah finds her husband to be banging a girl in the bathroom two nights before they are to be married. Her BFF then tries to get her to go to Vegas with them, which she turns down until said girl he was bang shows up at her door and then said ex shows up at her door she can’t get out of town fast enough. Once they get there to the bar they go when her eyes meet those of the most handsome man she has ever seen. Every time she turns around he is there and sparks fly….
From the first time Derek’s eyes touch hers he knows he must have her, he also knows he must be careful not to scare her way. He takes his time, makes sure he is where she is and lets time take over. It isn’t long before she is right where he wants her, in his bed waking wild passionate love. Slowly he takes her to a world she has never been. He loves that she has no idea who he is and will not even give her his name. Which drivers her crazy….
Time moves on as it does and things change but stay the same, two hearts calling out to each other but time is running out. It is time to say goodbye, now here is where I have trouble telling you anymore of the story….I will tell you this is a touching story which will leaving you saying awww….what the hell just happen…you are kidding me and then well you will have to read to see….There is a lot that goes on throughout the book much said, many thoughts and many searches for answers to unknown questions.
I think it started out with wanting what we know we can’t have and ended up with being an addict to love. The author brings to life a story that most of us would love to be in, with a dream of a man who could set the world at our feet. I truly love each character the only one I didn’t care for was Jason her ex. I felt sorry for the girl he was busted with, since he led her on. The one part I didn’t understand was why Jessica would call her days later to tell her she was sorry when she had already done that. I totally loved the ending, I doubt the author could have made it better. For me if you are going to write BSDM this is the way to do it. So I give this author a 5 for knowing how to keep me entertained and keep me interested in a genies I am not over fond of. Thank you for a job well done.
“You are the wind beneath my wings” an interesting saying and song by one of the greatest. As we can look deeper into the quote and song it can pertain to our everyday life finding the one that completes us that makes us a whole without compromise or reservation, the one that will have our love for eternity if just given the chance to let our wings fly with each. The one person on this earth that fits just right without even trying, love so unconditional that rainbows are shown in their eyes.
Dacotah-pretty, sarcastic and a bit damaged
Derek-hot successful, hunky and reserved
Derek is a successful man that can have any woman his heart desires. He is hunky, hot and sexy as all get out. He is the man that any can capture any woman’s heart with just a glint of his eye. His success brings him the utmost satisfaction but at the same time keeping his heart at bay. But when he stumbles upon a real woman his heart begins to flutter.
Dacotah is a woman with a broken heart. She has felt heartache and wonders if her heart will heal itself. In thinking with time she knows that all wounds heal even the greatest of hearts do. What happens though when meeting one man that makes her heart flutter without even the slightest touch? Was her heart merely broken to begin with it or did it just need the right ingredient to let it soar to new amazing heights?
Derek and Dacotah’s journey to finding each other doesn’t come easy by far. Derek the man that could give Dacotah the world that she wants but knows in her heart she already has but doesn’t want what Derek has to offer. Money and fame are not what she is about she is more than that and as Derek begins to see this in her his heart begins to fill with her. Derek shows Dacotah so much in the bedroom and brings her to new heights to her sexual world that falling for the man that makes her heart flutter is undeniable. As Dacotah’s heart begins to fill with Derek as does his with her but as each is stubborn and hardheaded will they both be able to capture each others heart or will they walk away without ever knowing what each others true heart has to say? This is their wonderful, sexual journey.
To the author: You have taken these two characters that come from different worlds and brought them together in this amazing read. As each of their worlds may seem far apart they are also not so much different coming from the depths hidden with their hearts. Dacotah and Derek complement each other like no other you have brought hope to every man or woman that reads this book giving them hope and awareness that just coming from different worlds they are the same in other aspects.
I received a copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review. The original review can be found on www.genuinejenn.com
One Week, where do I even start? Zoey Derrick does it again, she hooks you right from the start. This is definitely different than her other books but is a fabulous change. One Week is very heavy on the hot romance BDSM but still tastefully Zoey Derrick. I love the story line, one week in Vegas with the girlfriends to have fun and forget a good for nothing, cheating ex when Decotah meets a dark and handsome man that has a offer hard to resist. Will Decotah take this mystery mans offer without even knowing his name?
Remember what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas, right? Some fun never really hurt anyone anyways. Decotah takes on Orion's fabulous offer and spends just one week with him at his beck and call. Dining, shopping and drinking out of her league. Finding out his real name is Derek Hunter, who is a man of wealth.
The romance is hot they love even hotter! I love that this book is so different from the rest of Zoey Derrick's books but is so easily written. Zoey does a fabulous job developing the characters and story that will hook you from the start and have you wanting more of Derek along with Decotah.
I love how if you have read other novels from Zoey Derrick that you will notice there is an overlapping which makes it so much fun. Not a series but just something to tie her books together.
Decotah is a great character, she has her insecurities but is strong, loveable, down to earth and comfortable in her own skin. She is really a model character for young women.
Another fabulous story from Zoey Derrick that you will not want to miss! I give this book a 5 out of 5 stars!
I think this was close to getting a 3-star rating from me, but there was just too much that bugged me. I skimmed over several sex scenes because the middle of the book is basically: Screw, sleep, screw, shower, repeat. At least that's how it felt to me.
The fact that this was a long-ish BBW was the selling point for me. I like over-weight heroines and there are so many BBW's out there that are serialized, or just short erotic novellas, and I'm not interested in that. I like tales of love and sex and insecurity and drama. But this was sort of "meh."
The Bad: 1- This is like Chunky Pretty Woman, sans prostitution. Instead of Rodeo drive, we're on the Vegas Strip. 2- Blake Shelton and Miranda Lambert as characters in the story. Is that even allowed? It was cute, but a little weird. 3-Though it wasn't over-used in this book, I'm tired of uber-rich men with a need for Dominance who have "issues" with being touched. Derek, the hero, never lets women touch him during sex, but when Cotah does, he's practically unmanned by it. *sigh* In this I'll add that there was a lot of sex that didn't really move the plot along, in my opinion. 4- Typos. 5- Orion. 6- This book is 1st-person heroine POV until about 89% at which time Derek gets his say. This made me really happy because I like heroes. But then there's a "it was all a dream" scenario that really pissed me off. Then we were back to Dacotah's Pov at 98%. 7- You know what, never mind...
If you like Billionaire BDSM-- Shopping trips, jewelry, blindfolds and spreader bars, this is just the ticket. I'm just sort of done with this trope. Even if the heroine is a size fourteen or larger. I can't take it anymore.
I read this book out of order - after reading all of the 69 Bottles books that are currently out - but for me, this wasn't an issue. Sure, by doing so I already knew a bit about Derek and Dacotah, but it wasn't enough to spoil their story for me. In fact, now that I've read this, I want to know even more about them and how they got from where the are at the end of this book to where they are when Dex and Raine meet up with them.
I could tell that this book was written before some of the others, and it was fun for me to note the growth in the author's writing. While this book definitely has the same tone as the others, and includes plenty of sex scenes that I actually read and didn't skim over, her more recent works are even more polished. If this book is your introduction to the author and you were impressed, stay tuned because it gets even better.
This novel is also a perfect example of why I cringe when real life individuals are used in fiction. Unlike characters, the author cannot control actual celebrities. And a scene that I'm certain was written to be fun is now overshadowed by events in real life and it just kind of made me say "awww", even though I'm not really a fan of either one of them. Had two fictional characters been used to accomplish the same thing, this would not have happened at all.
All in all, a great read about two characters that some of us have already heard of. Some other familiar faces pop up here, further cementing the world that the author has created. The backdrop of Las Vegas was used to perfection to create a tale that looms larger than life. Not a rock star romance here, but no less intriguing.
series: n/a Category /Genre: BBW, BDSM Erotica, Erotic Romance Grammar/editing: ungraded – book received as an unedited ARC / errors excused Received from: Zoey Derrick (in exchange for an honest review)
This is a stand-alone novel, but there are characters from the Love’s Wings series who make an appearance.
This is a little bit of FSOG meets reality. Either Ms. Derrick is in the scene or she knows people who have talked openly to her, because this is a lot closer to how the lifestyle is lived than FSOG portrays. There is also more than a passing nod to Pretty Woman and Indecent Proposal – gee, Zoey, what are your favorite movies? LOL
Then there is chapter 57. All I’m going to say is make sure you have a leash on your kindle so that it doesn’t actually hit the floor. Honestly. I got online after reading it to tell Ms. Derrick that she was evil (in the best kind of way). She provides the aftercare needed in the remaining chapters. It is worth the angst!
I love the story. Steaming love balanced with life in all of its little worries, interruptions, and fun. Only sleep and work interrupted my reading. I love the characters. I want to be Dacotah…. not what she went through at the beginning of the book. The douche ex I have, thank you very much. I want the HEA that she found after dropping his slimy ass.
Zoey Derrick has knocked another one out of the ball park!
One Week started off great for me. I felt so bad for Dacotah and what she'd been through. I admired her for handling things the way she did, especially when the knocking on her door started. I was really rooting for her to get what she was looking for in Vegas. A little of a quarter of the way into the book, my interest started to wane and I'll try to explain why without giving too much away.
I enjoyed the chemistry between Dacotah and Derek. It was hot, they were hot. I wasn't a huge fan of the way Dacotah was so insecure. I can understand why she'd think so considering she wasn't in the same pay grade and didn't meet current standards of beauty, but she dwelled on it too much.
This is my first Zoey Derrick book. I'm really looking forward to reading more, especially Tristan and Cami's story, which is already out. This book is really well written and even though certain elements didn't work for me, it won't be that way for everyone. Do give this book a try.
I have to say first off, if you don't like to read about sex or it makes you uncomfortable, then this is NOT the book for you!!
For the rest of us however, strap your self in for one hell of a sexy ride with this one. For many woman, having a rich powerful man proposition you for one week of no strings attached fun, all expenses paid would be a dream come true. What Cotah gets however is the biggest journey of self discovery, one she never could have dreamed of and one she never saw coming!! Derek freely admits he has always been the one night stand man. Never gets attached and never ever sleep with a woman. Put these two together and the sparks fly, the electricity crackles and the sex is phenomenal! ! Cotah and Derek both get more than they bargained for and by the end of the week neither if them want to say goodbye. .. Neither of the want to admit to it!! This is a fast paced sexy read that included a fair bit of humor to lighten the tone at times. I found this book to have just the right amount of everything to make for a highly entertaining read. Except for the kids interrupting me, I really struggled to put the book down. I was hooked from start to finish wanting to read on to see what they would get up to next!! If you love the sex, love the romance, love the humor and love a bit of gentleness then I highly recommended you one click this book and get reading!!
Zoey did, in my opinion, a PERFECT job of developing the relationship between Dacotah and Derek. I don't want to spoil anything, but from the moment they laid eyes on each other, the story just kept getting better.
They interacted with each other A LOT, which I prefer in these stories. In other words, there wasn't a lot of story where he or she was off doing something else without the other, rather the majority of the story was about THEM, together.
Nextly, talk about SMOKING HOT love scenes! Lots of lovin' was crammed into Dacotah and Derek's one week together, and no two times were alike. This is one of those books where the sex isn't just sex...it's something so much more and is a tool of sorts that the author used to show the progression of the relationship between Derek and Cotah.
Derek is one of my favorite heroes, with juuuuuust enough "alpha" to exude control and confidence, but he's not a jerk or a pig.
Cotah was great to read because she has a bit of a sassy side to her, and juuuuuust enough self-doubt to make her believable.
The whole underlying premise of this book was just so fun to ponder, and the ending left me with a big smile. I am now a HUGE fan of Zoey Derrick!!!
***I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review***
One Week by Zoey Derrick was just an OK ready for me. It didn't stir much emotion or much angst out of me at all, but I understand where the author was going with it. The female lead, Dacotah, wasn't a strong enough lead for me. Her insecurities took over way too many times, and I felt her character was lacking any type of depth. Some topics were way too repetitive and there was quite a bit of unnecessary information put in throughout the story. The premise was a little too 50 Shades, and I get it, it's popular, but try harder to make it your own. The ending, with the epilogue seemed a bit rushed, although it was a nice HEA. I just REALLY wish we would have gotten more of Derek's POV. Maybe a back and forth POV would have been a more attractive story.
The beginning of One Week was enjoyable, but then it started to wane for me. I wanted a stronger chemistry between the two, and I wanted more of a connection with these characters that I just didn't get. A female lead can have her insecurities, but not dwell on them throughout the book. I need some more strength in a heroine when she is matched up with a hero like Derek.
*Gifted copy provided by the author in exchange for an honest review*
Ok, to start off I really liked this story but there's just a couple of things about it that kinda bugged me a little. First thing, it practically screams another book in places, second thing is that it just seemed lacking in places. The start of the book is absolutely brilliant, you can really sink your teeth in to it, you know all girls holiday to Vegas, you think what fun can be had. Then Dacohta meets the very mysterious "Orion". Then the fun really begins, or so I thought. He's there one second and gone the next, then he's back again later on. He's not necessarily shady but there's definitely something going on with him. Now I don't want to be a spoil sport and tell you everything that happens that leads me to the conclusion that it screams another well known book, even though it does kind of do that the author was still able to make it her own. The writing style is completely different, the whole content of the book is completely different but it's little things. Anyhoo, still a really good story, one that everyone can enjoy when you like a powerful alpha male, very hot sex and BDSM. 4 stars.
This is the story of Dacotah, who goes to Vegas with her friends and meets Orion/Derek and they begin a week long relationship that may turn into something more.
The romance side of this was surprisingly strong and it's easy to understand what's going on with both of them, despite the fact that this is mainly told from one POV (until the end), how the characters feel (although I'm still not sure how these characters truly connect to each other).
There are elements of BDSM in this: bondage, sensory deprivation, etc., but no excessive spanking, whipping, etc., although I was kind of hoping this would get more intense, it ends up getting lighter as the book progresses, despite the indications that D is a submissive and doesn't know it.
There wasn't anything completely new here, but it was still fun to read.
I'm being nice, rounding this to 4 stars because there are some typos and words missing, etc. that I found annoying.
Dacotah and Derick. Great beginning and then it kind of lost me. Dacotah's insecurities were killing me, among a few other things. I really need my main character to be confident and let the drama around her unfold, not she being the drama. As for Derick, I felt I didn't know him. Tristan and Cami from the author's previous book made a welcome appearance.
It's chalked full of sex including some FSOG similarities. I LOVED the airport scene......but wait, what??!!! Sooooo not fair! You have to read it to find out what I'm talking about. Anyway, the epilogue was a good HEA wrap up. I guess I am in the middle of the road with this one. It felt TOO familiar, yet still NOT enough.
Dacotah finds her fiancee having sex with a friend of hers and decides to head to Vegas with her girlfriends to let loose. She meets Derek and falls head over heels for this delicious man. Derek sweeps her off her feet and asks for a week to spend time with her. They are scorching hot together and can't imagine being without each other. When given the opportunity to have more than a week with him, Cotah struggles with doubt, but gives in to the adventure of him.
I loved Cotah and Derek together. They were playful at times and also broght their hearts into being together.
Dacotah and Hunter will get you hot and bothered as they tell their story. Dacotah decides she needs a break the past few months have really sucked. She and her friends head to Las Vegas in hopes of helping her forget, she never expected a sexy man to help her forget. Hunter offers Dacotah an indecent proposal and she accepts, but can they keep their feelings out of their agreement?
Read to find out.
Bonus... guest appearance from Tristian and Cami from the Finding Love's Wings novels.
I loved this book! In this story Dacotah will learn to see herself as Billionaire Derek Hunter sees her, gorgeous. Dacotah and Derek start out in a one week encounter a learn that love is within their grasp. Derek is in control and dominant, but learns that letting down his guard will not only give him happiness but will find the love of his life. This is Hot, exciting and emotional and I recommend it to all.
Even though it was a lot like Pretty woman, in some respects, being a size 16 myself, tho not always,I can relate to Cota's characters insecurity about her body. Very refreshing to read. At least Hunter wasn't abused as a child. I enjoyed the story, and the insertion of some of my favorite people from her other books. Blake and Miranda were a nice touch also. Love your books, Zoey
I enjoyed reading this book. The story was good and great writing. Dacotah and Derek were hot together but I felt the BDSM came on too fast and they didnt get a chance to discuss it first even though she seemed submissive to him right away. Would love to read more about her friends and see if they can find the one too
I loved One Week. From start to finish you want to know what is going to happen. I found myself rooting for Cotah and yet wanting to hold her hand as she went on this jourey. I prayed it wouldn't end and yet.... well I don't want to spoil it. Zoey did it again with this book. I hope she writes another one in this series because this is a must buy....
Zoey you did it again to me :-) I loved the whole pretty women vibe minus the hooker part lol. I was thinking that about it and then all of a sudden im reading my thought lol it was cool. Had people looking at me werid because i was giggling:-) I could not put this one down either I had to know what was going on and i didn't want to miss a think.
Wow! Zoey Derrick knows how to write BDSM erotica! The chemistry between Dacotah and Derek is off the charts hot hot hot! But this is also a very well written love story and I thoroughly enjoyed their wonderful journey!
