Blue: Bei Anruf Gefahr

Rate this book
Mike Connors is a competitive and up-himself teenager who tells his story in the present tense and first person, as though talking to a tape recorder. Mike's parents died in an accident a year ago and he lives with his aunt, a business woman who doesn't have much time for him. She's given him a mobile phone so he can keep in touch when necessary. Mike's suburb is being stalked by a serial killer, and three deaths have occurred, all different - the only common feature is the means of death via a blow to the back of the head. All the victims were wearing something blue, hence the killer is known as 'Blue'. Mike happens upon the scene of Blue's latest murder and is observed by the killer. Soon a series of mobile phone calls begin, and Mike is talking regularly to Blue. It becomes clear that Blue knows a lot about Mike - secret things that no-one else can know... In this tense, tightly written thriller, it gradually becomes clear to the reader who Blue really is. But the authorities have nothing to pin the murders on - eventually they will have to let the murderer out.

Talking to Blue is one of my most favourite books by a New Zealand author. I have read this book about three times or so.

The whole idea of a serial killer ringing me up on the cell phone is a really creepy one. When I first read what the book was about I was really excited and thought this would be a great read and I was right.

The characters are all really good and well-formed. I really like Mike, he is a really cool guy and I feel bad for him as he is the one receiving phone calls from a serial killer.

Overall, this book is really good. It has a creepy factor and it has some elements of mystery which makes this book a favourite for me. So if you ever happen to come upon this book. Read it, because it is just that good.

The other two books in the series are Blue Murder and Blue Blood.

I absolutely loved this book!!! it was thought provoking, engaging, thrilling, and well written. I read the whole 3 book series. it only took me 10 days to read all 3 and i found that they were all as good as each other which is quiet rare in a trilogy often the first is better than the others. i did feel that the ending was disappointing but other than that highly recommend.

It's amazing, it gave me chills at some point, but so worth reading and the sequels are even better.

So about two pages in I had guessed the twist, but then I started second-guessing myself - it must be a double-bluff, there must be some OTHER twist than the one being so blatantly telegraphed - I was coming up with all sorts of crazy ideas. After a couple of chapters all still pointing the same way I gave up and skipped to the end. I was right the first time, damn. Gave up on this book.

Nostalgia makes me wanna give this more stars. It was fun to read, and I liked the detached voice of the protagonist. Mostly I was just grinning because I used to read this series compulsively as a teenager, so revisiting it was pretty great.

This book just got into my head. The scenarios with Mike and Blue, alone on the phone, are so creepy. Best thriller I've read in a long, long time. Can't wait to find the sequels.
