There are days when we feel homesick. Days when we have strayed far from the plan that our Father has set for us, times when we simply want to feel at home and know that our pilgrimage has purpose. This beautiful, full-color book is accompanied by a DVD featuring MercyMe's performance of "Homesick."
I like the idea of making a book out of a favorite song. This one has the feel of one of those brief documentary-style videos that accompany the production of a song, giving the viewer a glimpse of what inspired the artists to develop the music.
Wouldn't it be cool to have a book like this for each one of your favorite songs?
I enjoyed reading Bart Millard's thoughts as he shared his heart and his inspiration for writing this particular song. This one always makes me think of my Grandad, who passed away several years ago. I sure would like to see him again. As Bart explains, the longer we live on this earth, the more we have invested in Heaven, meaning that more and more of the people we love and miss are waiting on us there. My favorite lyric from the song: "In Christ, there are no goodbyes." Knowing that truth may not make the loss of a loved one easy when it first happens, but it does make it easier as time goes on and we get closer to Heaven ourselves. (But don't overlook the "In Christ" part of that statement. A relationship with Christ is the only way to make sure there are no goodbyes.) This song is about that reunion that is coming someday.
