Rate this book
Fans of romantic comedies from the 1930s & 1940s will enjoy this clean romantic comedy!

Master Backer Nicole Edwards has had enough of love!

Nicole Edwards has walked down the aisle as a bridesmaid thirteen times! Thirteen times! In an effort to change her luck, this master baker plans to give up waiting for Jake – who doesn’t know she’s alive – sell her business in New York City, buy a food truck in Los Angeles, and find her own happily ever after.

Chef Sean O’Malley could use Nicole’s dessert skills at his restaurant in New York City.
In fact, he’s banking on a joint venture with Nicole, although he hasn’t yet approached her about it. When he learns during a pre-wedding event they’re both working that she’s moving to L.A. because she’s giving up on Jake, he decides to give her a crash course on how to be noticed. Sean has, after all, three younger sisters. He knows how a woman’s mind works. But he doesn’t factor in how his heart works or how easily it could be broken.

Prior to writing romance, award-winning, USA Today Bestseller Melinda Curtis was a junior manager for a Fortune 500 company, which meant when she flew on the private jet she was relegated to the jump seat—otherwise known as the potty. After grabbing her pen (and a parachute) she made the jump to full-time writer. Between writing sweet romance and sweet romantic comedy, Melinda finds time to bond with her husband over home remodeling projects. She recently came to grips with the fact that she’s an empty nester and a grandma, concepts easier to grasp than jet-setting on a potty.

Quotes I enjoyed:

“Relationships are all about signs and signals.”

“History was made of bad ideas.”

“Choose love. Free a hand.”

This was a cute novella that I enjoyed, it was light, fun and easy to read. I enjoyed the characters, Nicole, a baker and Sean a chef. I loved the text messages between Nicole and Sean, with all the auto corrections, they gave me a good laugh. These two have worked together for a few years, her bring chaos to his kitchen. I just loved how Sean tries to help Nicole get over her “love curse” and using what he has learned from his three sisters.

I really loved seeing the snippets of emails between Jax and Tiff at the beginning of every chapter. It felt like a continuation of their story and you can see how Sean and Nicole are connection to them.

This is book two in The Bridesmaid Series. A clean read, closed door novella series that is modern with a sense of black and white movies from the 1930’s and 1940’s.
