The Supreme Fire Lord has returned—and he won’t stop until he’s had his vengeance.
After a brutal battle in the ruins of the Lost City, Connor journeys to the mysterious land of Illythia, where an ultimatum forces all the remaining leaders to pick sides. To the south, Vivienne’s flashy arrival stirs tension when a shocking announcement casts doubt on their already shaky alliance.
Amid the chaos, a mysterious visitor from Tolosa strikes a bargain with Connor, revealing the existence of an ancient weapon powerful enough to slay a god.
The catch? Its keepers know he’s coming—and they won’t surrender without a fight.
Can Connor prevail and unite the continent before it’s too late?
Hey there! I'm Shane, and I love writing fantasy. I've been reading fantasy all my life, and I've always wanted the chance to tell the stories that I wanted to share. So here I am! With my stories, you can expect a fleshed-out and detailed world full of interesting characters that you can't help but root for. Thanks for checking me out, and I hope you enjoy my work!
Vivienne’s move had me laughing out loud! When the Mother said Connor and his four wives would succeed I just knew she’d be the fourth… I just didn’t know she would ingratiate herself the way she did. Good times!
I loved the first three books, but I just couldn’t get past some of the logical errors in this book.
First, the “engagement night” thing caused my suspension of disbelief to go right out the window. That would never work for so MANY reasons. It was of minor benefit to the story, but caused a massive hit to the world building.
Second, the author seemed to get lost in the great battle scene. The arrangement of assets just wasn’t cohesive.
I know I sound overly critical, and if this series wasn’t as good as it was, I wouldn’t have bothered. Anyone can write down porn. It’s the STORY that keeps us reading. Mr. Hammond usually writes a damn good one, but this was a disappointment.
This was the worst book of the series. The first 80 percent of it was the MC having sex talking about sex or thinking about sex. Add in the women doing the same thing and it was completely boring. I’m done with it. It’s a waste of time and money. It’s too bad because the last 20 percent was really good. But he hasn’t even had sex with the 4th wife and I can see the next book being more of the same. So good bye and good luck

So, I love the relationships … well thought out and executed. Unique female leads, done well. However … the MC isn’t really growing in power. He’s not training, no epiphanies, no breakthroughs. He just goes from being sad he doesn’t have “thing B” to trying to get “thing C”, and uses “thing A” to great effect, once he realizes he has it. What’s troubling is THIS IS BOOK 4. I will finish the series, but not my favorite book.
This book had a lot of twists and turns and was way more political than action. It worked out well in this book. I can tell we're near the end. Probably only 1 or hopefully 2 books left. I've have really enjoyed this series so far.
Damnit, it could have been great but Vivienne's "surprise" was so blatantly a power grab that I couldn't continue. It was such a good book until the author decided to force-feed us a new love interest that has no business being any interest at all. Dropped.
The story just keeps getting better. I don’t know how you’re gonna end it but I’m biting my nails. I’m on the edge of my seat. Don’t fail me now Shane Hammond.
