His mission is to expose cheaters, liars, and frauds before they can say "I do." And he's frustratingly good at his job.
And me? I'm Emma Marshall, wedding planner extraordinaire who happens to believe in things like happily ever afters, love, and the power of a perfect wedding. Or at least I did until a certain wedding wrecker gave me the best night of my life, then wrecked my biggest wedding, along with my career, the following day.
Three years later, I’m finally ready to give another big wedding a shot and rebuild my reputation. My little sister is marrying the son of one of the richest men on the planet, and they’ve asked me to plan everything.
Am I terrified of screwing it up? Absolutely. So imagine my horror when the wedding wrecker shows up at the mountain ski resort with the rest of the wedding party. Worse? He decides to play hero by pretending to be my boyfriend to ward off the unwanted advances of the world’s creepiest groomsman.
Now I'm sharing a room with the most infuriating (and irresistible) man I've ever met. He's cynical, sexy, and has a terrible habit of making me want to break all my carefully crafted rules—rules that are supposed to keep him on his side of the bed and me on mine, among other things.
The problem? While I'm busy planning the perfect wedding, he might be plotting to wreck it. And if he does, he'll destroy my career. Again. He’ll also destroy my little sister’s perfect day, which is something I’m never going to let happen.
But convincing the wedding party we’re legit means more “fake” kisses than I can handle. It means being carried away from the ski slopes when I barely twist my ankle so he can “pretend” to pamper me all day by the fireplace. Except nothing about his soft touch or the way he looks devastatingly gorgeous in those sweaters he keeps wearing feels pretend.
Worst of all, it means getting glimpses of the man beneath the emotional scars—the one whose past breaks my heart and almost makes me understand why he does what he does.
USA Today, Wall Street Journal, and Amazon Charts Bestselling author Penelope Bloom is taking her first flight into romantasy—and yes, there are dragons. After years of contemporary romance, she's temporarily trading meet-cutes for magical academies and coffee shops for castles that reek of blood. She promises the banter is just as sharp, but now it comes with deadly consequences.
Fun fact: “Penelope Bloom” started as a tongue-in-cheek tribute to the family dog, Penelope—never meant to be anything serious. But then the books took off, and the name stuck. Behind the scenes, Penelope Bloom is actually a husband-and-wife team. He handles the writing; she edits, helps with brainstorming, and runs the reader-facing side of things (like social media and messages). So if you’ve chatted with “Penelope” online, you’ve likely been talking to her—with the author chiming in whenever needed. Together, they’ve built the voice readers know and love.
It’s just unbelievable that nobody uses an editor anymore. “Rockafeller”? Really?
The MMC finds out that his new wife has been sleeping with his brother and eight other men, and he finds out at his wedding. MMC makes a giant scene and still attempts a relationship with this woman for three months until she decides to take half his fortune? The stupidity is ridiculous. Then he becomes bitter and decides to be a wedding wrecker.
The FMC is a wedding planner and is planning the biggest wedding of her life and obviously they meet fallen instant lust and then when the wedding wrecker wrecks the wedding, she refuses to do anything weddings or destination weddings again. That’s a ridiculous amount of power to put over one person. I just find that so unrealistic and so ridiculous.
Also, I also cannot even imagine a father thinking that his son-in-law to be is a cheater, then finding out that he is a cheater and feeling that in the middle of the wedding while his daughter is standing up there saying her vows is the right time to say something. The father had plenty of opportunity to say something earlier and chose not to. All this in the first 10% of the book. I couldn’t bring myself to read further.
I really loved the premise of this story…Emma is a wedding planner, and she is doing a wedding in Ireland of all places. However, Emma has accounted for all the various ways that things can go wrong on the day…except for one🙈
James is a wedding wrecker and it’s his job to expose any secrets to the couple before they get hitched😬 James and Emma have wonderful chemistry until he throws her under the proverbial bus. Fast forward three years later, Emma’s sister asks her to help plan her wedding, but unbeknownst to them someone has hired the wedding wrecker…how will it all play out?
Some ridiculously funny moments that I’ll remember for a while yet that had me laugh out loud🤣 I received an advanced copy via Booksprout and willingly leave my honest review❣️
Omg I absolutely didn’t want to stop reading this book. Emma is a wedding planner and James is a wedding wrecker, what could go wrong lol. The characters and the story had me completely hooked. Another amazing read by Penelope that had me lol.
I loved James and Emma's hilarious journey of love. From the fun and well developed characters and their crazy chemistry to the fun storyline and crazy fun banter, this is a great read. If you have ever read a book by Penelope Bloom then you know what I mean when I say how fabulously entertaining her writing is, and The Wedding Wrecker is one of my favorites. I recommend this book and this author to everyone who loves great writing and laughing out loud. I voluntarily reviewed a copy of this book.
Umm… What is in this book???🤯🥹🤍 I read this in less than 24 hours… talk about a love story 😍 I literally couldn’t put this down.. from the first page I was hooked and it just kept getting better & better 👏🏼 it was so well written & the ending was amazing 😩 I loved this book WAY more than I expected to 📚 it was such a quick, easy & great read 💕 probably a top 5 of the year
So bad. So so bad. Incredibly surface level. You expect me to believe that after exchanging two sentences with each other and then hooking up, that they have wrecked each other’s lives? Please.
Tam, we wspaniałej zamkowej scenerii dochodzi do jej pierwszego spotkania z Jamesem, a nawet pod wpływem obopólnego zauroczenia - do szybkiej lecz oszałamiającej przygody erotycznej.
I happened across this book while on book sprout and I am so happy. This was such a good book, it had so many laugh-out-loud moments. It started out with a bang, and everything was tidied up at the end.
The general idea is Emma Marshall is a destination wedding planner, and she first meets James at one of her weddings. James who has a tragic back story has made a career out of wrecking people's weddings. Think Cheaters meet Wedding Crashers. Only she was completely unaware why he was at her wedding until it was too late. Fast forward a few years later, their path's cross again as she's planning her little sister's wedding. Complicated enough? Nope, Emma's soon to be brother-in-law is gross and makes inappropriate passes at her, and James steps in-unannounced- as her boyfriend.
Emma and James are opposites when it comes to love. Emma a hopeless romantic and James a jaded and broken man who doesn't believe in love. The character arc on both parts were pretty extensive which I liked especially given how much was packed into this story- and it was hilarious on top of it! Emma is a little haphazard at times and James turned out to be surprisingly thoughtful. But boy, do these two just go together perfectly.
I think the only thing that felt out of place was the bride's parents. But beyond the mom's part in this debacle, they weren't really pertinent to the story line.
Moments I loved: The bathroom scene when they first met IYKYK When Emma cracked a Dick joke to Dick and Richard and they scoffed at her lol The pool scene How he woke up with her in precarious situations
I would absolutely recommend this book to friends who like these tropes: Rom-Com Wedding planner X Wedding Wrecker Enemies to Lovers Fake Dating One-Bed Opposites Attract
Emma Marshall became a wedding planner and making bride's dreams come true makes her happy. Until she meets James and her belief in love and happily ever afters comes crashing down. After a crazy meet cute and a wonderful day together in between coordinating little details for this big Italian wedding, Emma and James have an unforgettable night. But the next day, he destroys the perfect wedding and Emma's career in the process. Now three years later, she's planning her own sister's wedding at a beautiful mountain ski resort. There's days full of fun and romantic activities ahead of the wedding and she's looking forward to a little relaxation while also avoiding the groom's creepy brother. Until a familiar man intervenes to "rescue" her by pretending to be her boyfriend. Soon, she's swapping kisses and forced to share a bed with the man who ruined her life... and he's there to do it all over again, only it's he sister's heart he'll break this time. I was laughing out loud at the meet cute and banter between the two MCs. The wedding activities provided a perfect setting for them to get closer and have fun together while avoiding their past. I could see how torn James was between trying to do his job and not breaking Emma's heart again. There was a clear problem for the two to solve in the end but no third act breakup, which I appreciated. This was a sweet and spicy romcom to curl up with on a cold winter's day. I voluntarily read and reviewed an advance copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Emma’s dream of proving that she can plan a successful high-profile wedding is shattered by James, a professional wedding wrecker. Even worse, she had spent the most amazing night with James the night before, unaware of why he was at the wedding. Three years later, having been focussed on small weddings, Emma is planning her sister’s destination wedding and is dismayed when James shows up unannounced. To her horror, he then pretends to be her boyfriend to rescue her from a sleazy groomsman and they end up having to share a room. No matter how many rules she puts in place to keep them apart and strictly in a pretend relationship, both know that they’ve never been the same since their night together and they have to face the reality of their feelings and the fact that James may be there to wreck Emma’s sister’s wedding, and Emma’s career for a second time.
This is an outstanding read which will grab you from the prologue where we find out why James became a wedding wrecker. The chemistry from the moment Emma and James meet is intoxicating, and their story is full of laughs, vulnerability, tension, heart stopping dialogue and satisfying, knee melting steam in a tight storyline with great pace. I really can’t recommend this book enough – it had everything I’m looking for to escape from the daily grind.

What a wonderful second chance love story with a unique foundation. These two have an very interesting week of being together for activities and sharing a room and boy do they learn so much about each other and the in laws that James and Emma find themselves in a unique situation! How will the Wedding Wrecker and Wedding Planner handle what they’ve discovered…. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Emma and James are both in the wedding business, just on opposite sides. She plans the wedding and all details with confidence and precision. He, when hired, finds out if there are any skeletons in the closet that need to be outed, wrecking the wedding. I understand both perspectives on the matter and that they think believe they are doing what in their hearts believes is best for the "happy couple."
Emma and James draw upon their past experiences, including the one they share, where their intense attraction and magnetic pull leads them to a clandestine hookup. It makes for great drama and entertaining, lively conversation. The dialogue is quick, witty and heartfelt as Emma and James attend Emma's sister, Lily's wedding a few years later.
The wedding week is filled with an interesting group of characters, fun events and passionate moments. Knowing that Emma is Lily's wedding planner and aims for wedding perfection and James being hired to find anything as to why Lily and Marcus should not marry keeps you in suspense. I expected more drama with the verdict and its outcome, but very satisfied.
This is a fun romantic comedy that you will enjoy all the way to the happy ending.

I always know I am going to love a new Penelope Bloom book. They are filled with quirky characters, outlandish story-line, a lot of laughs, heated passion, romance, love, family, and a whole lot more. In The Wedding Wrecker you get it all and with Emma Marshall and James Carter you have two people on the opposites side of love and marriage who fighting it out and flirting all the way to the HEA. She is a wedding planner who believes in love and a happily ever after. He is man who makes his business wrecking peoples weddings by exposing cheaters, fraudsters and liars. They meet at one of her weddings and have what she thinks is the perfect day and a toe-curling night. But the next day he wrecks the wedding she has been planning and in the process her career. It is now three years later when their paths cross once again when she is planning her younger sister's wedding to a man that makes you skin crawl. Things are about to get complicated as these two stand on the opposites sides of love with a huge chasm inbetween. Will they be able to build a bridge or will they just fall in?
I am not usually a Rom-Com girly but I adored this book.
Emma is a wedding planner and James is a wedding wrecker. This was such an interesting dynamic to me and I think Penelope did such a good job of giving it substance. Seeing James and Emma work together to find a solution to wrecking Emma's sisters wedding...
I really liked the character development we see from James as he works through his trauma and learns to trust again. His story is heartbreaking and I understand his aversion to love. Seeing him work through his issues and fall for Emma made my heart melt.
Fake dating is a trope that gets me every time. James steps in to save Emma from unwanted advances and ends up 'dating' her for the duration of the week long wedding party. It's absolutely adorable just how attentive he is even if they aren't really dating.
I really enjoyed this book. It was a cute, bingeable read that had me giggling. 5 stars.

When I saw a new book was released by Penelope Bloom I cackled with glee. If your new to Ms. Bloom’s work then get ready for a lot of emotion, some laugh out loud banter and all the romance that will keep you thoroughly entertained. The prologue starts out explaining how James became the “Wedding Wrecker” and his jaded views on marriage. Then enter Emma a wedding planner, in love with the fairytale. Emma and James meet while she’s in Italy in charge of a planning a destination wedding. Sparks fly and they have one memorable evening the night before. The next day James “wrecks” her clients wedding, ruining Emma’s career and tainting her views on love. Flash forward three years later Emma is now planning her sister’s wedding when James shows up as a guest. The back and forth between these two characters was charming and hilarious. I loved the side characters and how everything flowed together perfectly to get to the well deserved HEA.

I have to in all fairness say that I adore Bloom's writing and anytime I see one of her books available I squeal in delight. I was so excited to get a copy of this book in advance and Bloom did not disappoint. I was captivated by our main characters James and Emma. First Bloom provides a much-needed back story for both our main characters as well as the how and why James became a wedding wrecker, and I get it...I totally get it! I loved the meet cute, and the chemistry was fantastic. The think I love best about this book and really all of Bloom's reads is how well balanced they are. Each have great characters that can be related to on some level as well as sweet and steamy romance and chemistry and the best of humor and often great banter as well. We often as in this case have some great besties who are supportive, encouraging and well, the besties we all need in life who give it to ya straight. Another win for me and I am already eagerly awaiting more!

This was a fun book. The author had me rooting for James from the very beginning, and then the meet cute between James and Emma had me laughing and cringing simultaneously! When the two reunite several years after their first encounter it’s obvious that there is more than just chemistry between them but neither is willing to admit it. So we get to watch as these two strong-willed people struggle through their emotions until they figure out what they really want. And boy was that struggle fun to watch. James and Emma really were such great characters and the way they bantered and badgered with one another was great. My only problem with the book was that it was filled with a lot of grammatical errors and for some reason the mother of the bride, the mother of the groom and one of the groom’s aunts were all named Martha. Huh? But I was reading an ARC, so hopefully those issues were resolved. Otherwise, it was a really fun, sexy book and I’d recommend it.
I voluntarily reviewed this after receiving a complimentary copy. Emma is a wedding planner, and she loves what she does. She ends up meeting James and spending the night with him. Emma sees James at the wedding she planned, and she thinks nothing of it until he destroys the wedding. James is a professional wedding wrecker, and not only does he wreck this wedding, but he wrecks Emma's career as well.
Fast forward 3 years, Emma is planning her sister's destination wedding when James shows up. James steps in and rescues Emma, and they end up fake dating. Emma gets to know James as they spend more time together and realizes there is more to him, and his past is why wrecks weddings. As always, Penelope's books have you laughing out loud at the antics between the MMC and FMC.
Will James move forward with wrecking Emma's sister's wedding, or will he break Emma's heart and career?
When the chemistry is pushing you together, even when your mind is wanting to pull away. After one smokin' time together, it was all destroyed because of his job. A few years later, he's back in her life, and while she was still attracted to him, she knew not to trust him not to ruin her again. Here job, wedding planner. His, wedding wrecker. Perfect pair. This is a fun read, with many mishaps that he plays hero for, but was he just 'playing' the part? Yes, there is steam. There is also some of that angst (from both parties.) Both had trust issues, and had opposite views of love and marriage. The side characters are something else. Some good, and some make you wonder what's wrong with them. There are many laughs along the way too. Good, pretty fast paced story. Well written and easy to read. Overall, a joy to read.
I know it's still early days but I am pretty sure Wedding Wrecker will be a top contender for my favorite romance book of 2025.
This is one for the heart, ladies and gents. Emma and James are just meant to be. They know it from the start, we know it from the start, them being together in the end is simply inevitable. Only questions is, how will they get to their HEA. One thing you can count on? It's going to be eventful.
Wedding Wrecker is a beautiful all-rounder. Everything you need and want from a romance book you will get.
The only question I was left with after reading the final chapter was how I could have missed Penelope Blooms books until now? This is an absolute tragedy which I need to revise emediately. It only took one book to make me into a fan.
The Wedding Wrecker is an enjoyable romantic comedy which places Emma and James as adversaries when it comes to love and marriage. Emma is a wedding planner who is a romantic when it comes to love, while James, who has been hurt in the past, sets about wrecking weddings due to his disbelief in love. The two characters initially met several years ago when one of Emma's weddings was sabotage by James the wedding wrecker. They once again find themselves face to face but the attraction to one another is strong and steamy. I loved this fun book with its likable characters, diametric opposite views on love and marriage, humorous situations, strong emotions, and a great journey to finding love.

I acknowledge that this story is meant to be a screwball comedy. That doesn't mean that good writing isn't required. It has so much going for it: a hilarious meet-cute, great characters who have depth and growth, and a conflict to resolve. It also has a fair amount of spice. What it is lacking, though, is just as important as a cute and funny idea. Perhaps this author attended school during the time that educators told students that spelling and grammar didn't count. They do. If an author is serious about their work, they should have an editor who will look for those pesky errors and fix them before publication. Authors who wish to have people pay to read their work do that.
An attention grabber from the prelude. Scorched by love, betrayal of trust, James now dedicates his life to find the secrets and stop weddings before the final I-Do. Emma has always dreamed of making other people’s dream weddings real, but a wedding crusher destroyed her trust and the possibility of HEA.
A sweet, off the wall romance, fake relationship, and quirky situations, not to mention a fall into a snowbank. Penelope takes you away to a resort in the mountains where two people learn to trust in love again, and work together to make a HEA come about.

Loved reading the engaging and amazing romance story. Since Emma's career was crashed three years ago by James, the Wedding Wrecker, she has been only doing small weddings, but when her sister, Lily, pleads with her to help plan her wedding, Emma can't say no and can't believe when who shows up to the wedding activities but none other than, James, pretending to be her boyfriend. Read the highly recommended, wonderfully written, and a must read riveting love story by the phenomenal author, Penelope Bloom.
THE WEDDING WRECKER gets high marks for original meet-cute, and the original angle of a wedding wrecker as a profession. Despite his role, James is such a likeable character, but Emma has the funny thoughts you love to read. She sometimes goes for the cheap laugh, but I’m okay with that.
As an advance reader I try to think about what is worth recommending about a book and what fell flat so the next person can decide if it is for them. It is a lighthearted rom-com with a little drama, some pining, a girl that is bit impulsive, and a little bit of a slow down at the end.
So cute! This book hit me all in the feels! And the spice levels were chili pepper hot! A story of two love opposites that found their way together. I loved how we got the back story of both to understand where they were coming from and then the ride along as the perfected their journey for them. The characters were quirky and cute but also meaningful with real life holdups. Definitely recommend! Come get lost in this tale and watch them wreck their way to many happily ever afters!.

Emma is a wedding planner, and James is a wedding wrecker, what could possibly go wrong. She was doing a wedding in Ireland that was supposed to fast track her career. He was hired to dramatically destroy it at the altar. He had a trauma at his wedding and set up a company that makes sure it never happens to anyone else. Emma is given the opportunity to plan her sister's wedding and is shattered when he shows up. Due to a convoluted state of affairs, he poses as her boyfriend, and they end up having to share a room. No problem, right? Predictable for sure, but a fun read.
