I Am Become Death: An FBI Serial Killer Mystery Thriller

Rate this book
Twenty years ago, six women were killed in the Louisiana backcountry. Now it's happening again.

FBI Deputy Director Bronwyn Gibson solved the Prophet Murders, and the case made her career.

Now another body has been found in Louisiana. Not similar, the same as the killings twenty years ago—right down to forensic details that were never released to the public.

Someone knows exactly how those women died. And now they're doing it again.

Is this a copycat? Or did Gibson help convict the wrong man?

Carver and his team are sent to Louisiana to find the answer — but Gibson is already there, running her own investigation, protecting her own secrets.

Something was left at the scene that links directly to the original case. A detail so specific that only someone who was there could know it.

The closer they get to the truth, the more the danger shifts. Because this killer isn't finished. He needs a final victim. And one of the team has already been chosen.

I was also given the change to read this book as an ARC for an honest opinion.

Since book 1 of the Carver & Sandling serie i am hooked. I love the characters and througout the serie you see the growth. They become real 3d people instead of 2d characters.
They have their flaws and their strong sides and they can not solve the case without each other. This gives a real feeling while you read

This story is full of twists and turns and was an amazing read.
I hope his next book will be out soon

I have been lucky enough to be an ARC reader for Stewart Clyde since the first book in this series, and he has officially become a priority author for me. Every time an email hits my inbox with the next installment, it automatically jumps to the top of my TBR pile. I had high expectations for book three, and I can safely say that I Am Become Death is the most intense, sophisticated entry in the Carver & Sandling series yet.

Clyde’s writing is incredibly atmospheric and deliberate. Even as someone who doesn't visualize scenes in my head, I found his prose to be masterfully evocative. He doesn’t just describe a setting; he builds a heavy, psychological landscape through a steady sense of unease. The "Sofa Squad"—that brilliant group of FBI outcasts—is back and better than ever. Watching them hunt a serial killer while navigating the dark, unchecked ambitions of characters who will take any shortcut to the top kept me on the absolute edge of my seat.

As a reader who lives for a strong, decisive payoff, I was floored by the finale. The ending was completely jaw-dropping, the kind of twist that leaves you reeling for a few minutes after you close the book. It is a dark, thought-provoking masterpiece that explores the devastating consequences of power and intelligence when they are left unchecked.

This book is going to live rent-free in my head for the foreseeable future. Stewart Clyde has cemented himself as a master of the psychological narrative, and I will be waiting very impatiently for him to finish the next installment!

I Am Become Death by Stewart Clyde is a dark, thought-provoking novel that explores power, ambition, and the consequences of unchecked intelligence and shortcuts to the top. From the start, the story draws you into a tense, psychological narrative centered on a small office of FBI outcasts (The Sofa Squad you're familiar with from the rest of the series) trying to hunt down a serial killer. But can they catch the killer in time?

Stewart Clyde's writing is atmospheric and deliberate, allowing the story to unfold with a steady sense of unease and allowing you to fully visualize what is occurring throughout the book. This entire series had me on the edge of my seat, and I look forward to the next book in the series.

First and foremost, I want to thank Stewart Clyde for allowing me to continue to be an ARC reader for him. This was by far my favorite book out of this series. I really feel like I have a whole Criminal Minds episode playing in my head the entire time I’m reading it. I really believe this book will live rent free in my head for the foreseeable future. I already cannot wait for book 4!

With taut writing that keeps the action non-stop throughout, Clyde has upped his storytelling with the latest installment in the Carver & Sandling series. Readers new to the series will find it an engaging first read while reading the others will deepen their experience. Clyde expertly weaves multiple POVs to immerse his readers into the story. I give it my highest rating and recommendation!
