Stitches was originally published back in 2020, in a short story collection called This Sack of Skin and Bone. It is now being re-released as a standalone story, and has been revised and rewritten. It is uncut, uncensored, and not for readers easily offended.

I'm so happy I discovered Sam West through some of the lovely readers I'm connected with here on Goodreads. This is the second story I've read by West, the first being Funfair (which I recommend as well), and I really enjoy her twisted tales.
I wanted a quick and brutal horror fix (read this in an hour), and West did not disappoint. A crazed plastic surgeon and a gorgeous wife who seeks vanity and pleasure above all else. What could go wrong? 🤣
What I love most about West's writing is the scene setting and elaboration on sensations (oof, they're descriptive). I kept imagining how it would all end up, and the ending was delightfully demented.
If you're looking for a fun and wicked read, definitely check this one out.

A living cliche she was, a loving, devoted wife she wasn't. Grace Johnson was a breathtaking thirty three year old who had the world at her fingertips while keeping her wealthy and successful husband in the dark of her affairs. Josh Barker was hired to tend to the foliage and gardening, but instead found himself more interested in a sexual relationship with Grace. For three weeks the chemistry burned between them as they kept their affair a secret from her husband, renown surgeon Dr. Elliot Johnson. Believing he was traveling home from a business trip, she welcomed Josh's advances on her and was blinded by the sensations. Not realizing her husband stood over top of her, watching and glaring with hatred until it was too late to run. Stunned by his sudden arrival, she's powerless as her husband uses a gardening saw to sever parts of Josh's shoulder. Watching the blood, the carnage, the violence, she runs towards their house where she discovers all of the doors are locked up right.
“You want to fuck my wife? Huh? You want to be with her? Then I can make that happen.”
Convincing ene she's still safe with him, he even swears on his life he has no intentions of murdering her. Lulled in, she never saw it coming when he slammed her face into the doorway, rendering her unconscious. Waking up left her dazed and confused as she laid out on her kitchen island, directly beside Josh and covered with a sheet. With numbness and pressure along her right side, she's trying desperately to move against the cocktail of pain medication she's on. Hearing Josh groaning in pain but conscious, she is forced to endure one final horror. Getting her to sit up, she sees through the mirror the amputation of her right arm and leg, her breast, and the similarities down to Josh's left hair. Removing his genitalia and swapping him into a female sex surgery, leaves the two fully formed into one person. Wishing for death more than anything else, she knows this won't be answered as her husband is a master of his craft.
“Come over here, Grace, there’s a good girl. Come to The Doctor.”

Stitches was such a wild, spicy little ride—and honestly, I loved every second of it. For a story that’s technically billed as “horror,” is it morbid that I found myself laughing just as much as I was gasping? The dark humor mixed with the heat made it ridiculously entertaining.
The only reason I’m landing at 4 stars instead of 5 is just that it felt too short. I wanted more chaos, more spice, more unhinged laughs—just more of everything. But for what it is? A quick, twisted, spicy burst of fun.

An alluring wife is caught fucking the gardener by her jealous husband, a beauty surgeon. Revenge is sweet. In this novella Sam West explains to the reader what together forever really means. The storytelling is fast paced, the bimbo described here very sexy and the horror nauseating. Sam did it again. Really recommended!
