There were some good insights and things I could relate to, but it became extremely repetitive, which is especially bad for a book that is so short. There were also parts that felt very unnecessary, such as sentences within chapters that simply told you what the purpose of that chapter was. With good writing, you don't need a recap within the same chapter; the readers don't need to be reminded of what they read a page before. It felt like the author was just trying to reach a higher word count without adding substance.

A deeply healing book that answered questions I carried all my life

This book touched me on a very deep level. I am a woman from Mongolia, and my father passed away when I was only two years old. For many years I didn’t understand why certain emotional patterns kept repeating in my life. This book finally gave me the answers I had been searching for.

Mongolia has gone through major social changes, and father absence is more common than people realize. Many women my age are now building their own families while carrying wounds they don’t fully understand. This book can help so many of them, just as it helped me.

If the author sees this message, I would be honored to request permission to translate this book into Mongolian. I truly believe it could help a lot of women in my country find clarity and healing.

Thank you for writing something so powerful and meaningful.

Must Read

This book is difficult to read in that it hits so many key points head on. It challenges your thinking and helps you not feel so alone. This sparked so many feelings in me that I had to quit reading and come back to it but the information is so helpful. There are several journal prompts to continue your journey and find all the patterns you are missing. Well worth the read!

I appreciated the simplicity of the concepts and the inclusion of journaling prompts, which made the material easy to digest. However, I found the content to be highly repetitive and didn’t gain any new insights about myself from it. If I had discovered this book at 15, I imagine it would have been life-changing, but having already done extensive internal work around my father wound, it didn’t offer much that was new for me.

Overcoming Isolation and Frustration

Growing up without a father carries many different dynamics. Many feel isolated, frustrated, abandoned, rejected and the list continues.
Author Vaughn gives many resourceful tips on how a person can overcome this life impacting situation. One of the highlights was the discussion of Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy.

If you’ve just started your healing journey this may be a good starting point since it really just nips the basics but if you are already familiar with the whole concept of absent fathers I highly doubt that you will benefit greatly by reading this book

Very superficial. Definitely more so written for somebody that is helping somebody through this experience, not the person going through the experience.

One of the worst books I read this year. It was challenging to even finish it. Classic case of superficial and vague self-help book. Written in a style as if reader had zero life exposure thusfar. Repetitive and gives generic advice and insights on quite important and complicated topic.

The content of this book could be found summarized in a few sentences on some social media post, or some poorly researched article which, believe me, tells everything you need to know about a quality of the material.

One star is given ONLY because it is written with good intentions, otherwise it's a complete zero.
