So proud of my daughter in law. I’ve read a lot of books and this one has it all. Great story, great writing, with a big twist at the end. So much research went in into making this book as historically accurate as possible. 5 stars!!!!

Brb off to replay AC odyssey.

But in all seriousness, this book is phenomenal. Not to mention this is her debut novel !? The tension, the chemistry, the overall amazing plot. 10/10 chefs kiss!! You can feel the authors passion bleeding through the pages. This book was so well thought out and researched, the immersion you will feel is unmatched.

I would say this book is very plot driven with the perfect ratio of romance. The main couple has perfect banter, sizzling chemistry (hello chapter 20) and an amazing emotional arc.

The plot twist at the end had me reeling. How did I not see that?!
But really, the cliffhanger at the end has me begging for a release date for the next book!

To me, Theda is highly relatable with a strong “your average girl next door” aura at the beginning of the book. Throughout the trials she encounters, she showcases the inner strength she has hidden deep down. I can’t wait to see what she has to show us in the next book.

Adrastos has the best inner monologue out of any male character I’ve ever read. He appreciates Theda for her inner beauty and strength. He is top tier booktok boyfriend and would go so far as to say he is for anyone who loves Hunt Athalar, Raihn Ashraj, and dare I say Rowan Whitethorn. The “touch her and you die” vibes are strong.

All around I’m astounded at the complexity and emotional depth this book contains. I will set a countdown to the release of book 2, I’m that excited for it!!

My best friend wrote a book!!! Holy cow was this incredible…

I was excited to get to see Jess write this while we grew our friendship and then was honored to get to read it as an alpha reader before it published. It took me a little longer (ok WAY LONGER) than originally planned to finish due to life and an awful case of Book-slump, but this book was so incredible it pulled me out of that slump!

Assassins Creed meets Outlander? Absolutely! Slow burn romance with a grumpy sunshine mercenary? yes please! And lots of fun witty banter along the way! (“Grumpy Gus”).

This has so much packed in, and is now one of my favorite books! The amount of Greek history, language, mythology, and research that went into this is astounding! And I say that completely unbiased!

Some could say the beginning of the book was a “slow start” but I was captured right from the beginning with the way questions were asked by characters inner monologues. It immediately fueled my need for context and to learn more about the characters. I love a good character build!

This book absolutely filled my desire for action and a slow burn romance 🤩

As a visual girlie, I have a strong need to be able to picture the settings and everything described in my head to stay engaged and this book did exactly that for me! The building of the Greek history & mythology was so yummy to me. It was also super fun to read on my kindle as well so I could easily learn some Ancient Greek words😏

The plot twist at the end really made me feel some kind of way IYKYK. Did I drag out finishing the last 150 pages because I didn’t want it to end? Yes, yes I did. This was such an easy and enjoyable read and I cannot WAIT for book 2!!!

I thought this book started slow, I was wrong. Then I thought the middle was too detailed, wrong again. The ending? Not wrapped up in a pretty bow! After 690+ pages I wished for another chapter. Guess I’ll have to wait for the next book.

Easiest 5 star review I have given in a long time! I am a hard critic when it comes to books, but this book was phenomenal from start to finish! It was refreshing to read a book where the author created a male protagonist with POSITIVE masculinity for once! The author also did an amazing job adding in tasteful notes of humor which made the book even more relatable and enjoyable to read! Reading War and Wisdom transported me to Ancient Greece and made me feel like I was apart of Theda and Adrastos journey the whole time! Overall a fantastic read and would definitely recommend to your TBR list!

Also p.s. the cliffhanger at the end???? I need book 2 out ASAP plz!!!!
