The Nanny Goal

Rate this book
When I first met her, I was just her brother’s best friend and a hockey player. Then I was the secret fling who broke her heart. Now I’m a single dad … and her new boss.

On the best and worst night of my life, I left the perfect girl alone in a hotel room, confused and angry. Since then, Emery Granger has ignored me, despite the fact that our families are friends and I would do anything to have a second chance with her.

When we're thrown together again, it's in the worst way possible—with me needing an emergency nanny, and my daughter immediately attaching herself to the last woman I got to third base with, making Emery the reluctant best candidate for the job.

No matter what happened in the past, I will always put being a good father first. My feelings for the nanny? Irrelevant. Impossible.

Which is a challenge, because the nanny herself? Irresistible.

When Alexei and Emery meet, there are sparks. And also almost a whole night together. Almost because they get interrupted. With a really shocking message. Alexei leaves, and that's it for Emery. She doesn't want anything to do with him. Even though her brother is a close friend.

Years pass by, and Emery has made it her mission to stay away from Alexei. Which I get. He left her in a very vulnerable position. But when fate brings these two back together, it seems that Emery has no choice in the matter. She's going to be helping out Alexei. And his daughter.

He's a single parent now. He's raising his daughter with the help of his parents. But after a health scare, Alexei needs help. And who's free to do it right now?

It's a sweet novel. I enjoy second chance romances. While this one isn't a second chance from a committed relationship, it's still a second chance after the screw up.

Emery seems to have gotten lost in the shuffle growing up, but instead of focusing on it, she's really buckled down on her future. That family, tho!

I loved the relationship that blossoms between Emery and Alexeis daughter. There's so many times that Alexei is proven to be a really sweet dad too.

I generally liked this a lot. I could have used a little more in the epilogue about where Emery's career went, since that was a big plot point. But I had a good time reading this, and the kiddo reminded me a lot of Annie, which was fun.

This is a steamy slow burn romance with strong emotional pull. The FMC is used to sacrificing for others but walks away after getting hurt. The MMC, a pro hockey player, becomes a single dad and his daughter becomes his focus. They cross paths again, and the chemistry is undeniable. If you enjoy slow builds with real tension and heat, this one delivers.

⭐️ARC REVIEW⭐️

“𝑴𝒚 𝒇𝒆𝒆𝒍𝒊𝒏𝒈𝒔 𝒇𝒐𝒓 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒏𝒂𝒏𝒏𝒚 𝒂𝒓𝒆 𝒊𝒎𝒑𝒐𝒔𝒔𝒊𝒃𝒍𝒆. 𝑰𝒓𝒓𝒆𝒍𝒆𝒗𝒂𝒏𝒕. 𝑾𝒉𝒊𝒄𝒉 𝒊𝒔 𝒂 𝒄𝒉𝒂𝒍𝒍𝒆𝒏𝒈𝒆, 𝒃𝒆𝒄𝒂𝒖𝒔𝒆 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒏𝒂𝒏𝒏𝒚 𝒉𝒆𝒓𝒔𝒆𝒍𝒇? 𝑰𝒓𝒓𝒆𝒔𝒊𝒔𝒕𝒊𝒃𝒍𝒆.”

This book was SO MUCH FUN! I had all the feels, all the angst, all the gasps and feet kicking!!! I’m already itching to do a re-read. Something about an MMC who speaks his feelings in another language that the FMC doesn’t understand just so he can say it to her without overwhelming her? PLEASE!!! 😩😮‍💨 I think I just have a thing for Russian hockey players…I don’t care. It’s hot. Someone come whisper Russian sweet nothings into my ear IMMEDIATELY!!!

Alexi is the ultimate book boyfriend. Single dad to an adorable two year old girl, pro hockey player…he is the DEFINITION of German Shepherd boyfriend and I am here to say we need MORE of them ! Golden Retriever BF’s are great. But something about the loyal and protective nature of Alexi has me screaming for more!

Emery is the dream girl. Sunshine personified , personal chef, emergency nanny and THE GIRL PLAYS HOCKEY!!! 🥵🥵 whoever says females can’t play hockey and look hot are wrong, because she did and she is so there. Emery has always had a crush on her brothers best friend , Alexi…and Alexi has always had eyes for her. So when one night they find themselves tangled up in each other, things must be on the right track, right ? RIGHT?!?! 🥲 wrong…Alexi leaves mid hookup and Emery is crushed. The girl is gutted and puts her guard up to protect herself from further hurt.

But when Alexi needs an emergency nanny during the playoffs, Emery is voluntold to help and that creates an awkward situation. There is an instant bond between Emery and Alexi’s daughter, Inessa. Alexi and Emery try to keep things strictly professional and friendly but they can’t deny the chemistry that bubbles between them, and we have the BEST F it moment…Alexi giving zero F’s about the consequences of falling for his best friends little sister.

The way Alexi is DOWN BAD for Emery…he confesses his true feelings for her in Russian to not scare her away by telling her too soon. She’s so guarded after what happened during their hookup, but Alexi goes above and beyond to show her how much she means to him and how much him AND Inessa need her in their lives.

The team, the WAGS…the found family and banter between everyone was so perfect. Little Inessa was so sweet and so cute…she was everything you’d want a little book one to be. Everything in this book was perfection. I’m obsessed💜💜

I liked this series but I feel like each book has gotten less interesting, partially because of repetition. I know this is true of a lot of romance series but it can still be frustrating.

Like the previous books, the male character is INSTANTLY in love with the female character but it just seems a little unearned. Also, the conflict for why they didn’t get together doesn’t quite track. He found out he was going to be a dad and that his ex was in labor at the same time. And rather than it just be acknowledged that this is heavy, they both act like he ditched her.

Then they get together pretty quick, which is fine. And while she’s a virgin, I do appreciate how that was handled (it made sense and it didn’t feel icky like it sometimes does in other books). BUT then like the second time they ever have sex (and she’s 24!!!) he’s talking about getting her pregnant. And then she does (on purpose) within like 3 months of them getting together?! Even the bonus scene 15 years later is about him trying to get her pregnant with their 5th kid.

Also, this is probably just a personal preference, but the number of time she says “seed” is just a big turnoff.

Also also, it’s interesting that all four male leads in this series (if memory serves), are uncircumcised. Not good or bad, just interesting to me.

This was just a pretty happy book? Which made for a nice contrast to the last one in the series. Great kid representation.

A slow burn with a spark you can’t ignore.

From the very first chapters, you're pulled straight into the story with a bold, steamy scene that immediately sets the tone. The writing is smooth and engaging—I never felt bored for a second. The author knows exactly how to build tension without dragging things out and strikes just the right balance when it comes to romance.

The chemistry between Emery and Alexei leaps off the page. Their attraction is evident from the start, which makes the story truly compelling. Emery is a strong and caring character, and it's touching to see how fully she commits to supporting Alexei and his daughter. Alexei himself is both tough and tender, making him a believable and incredibly appealing character.

Inessa, Alexei's daughter, is wonderfully portrayed—a lively, strong-willed toddler who walks the line between adorable and stubborn. Her bilingual nature is woven naturally into the story, and her bond with Emery is genuinely heartwarming. Alexei's Russian heritage, including the language barrier with his family, adds an extra layer of depth. The friendships between the WAGs (wives and girlfriends of athletes) also bring a warm and supportive dynamic to the narrative.

The story never drags. The emotional and physical tension between Emery and Alexei is well-developed throughout. The steamy scenes are present but not excessive—they’re carefully built up, with the more explicit moments coming later in the book. This pacing makes them even more satisfying when they arrive. I especially loved the use of Russian pet names; I looked them up immediately and completely melted.

The connection between the main characters, the cultural depth, the love between Emery and Alexei, and the supportive side characters all combine to make this a truly touching and passionate read. It's a story filled with heart, desire, and connection—and it moved me in more ways than one.

This was better than the last 2 books in this series but still didn't reach the high of the first book in this series. Also, I read this via KU and there are a number of grammatical errors I noticed. It would be one thing if this was an ARC but it wasn't!

I liked the romance and the pairing ok but Emery has a lot of issues with her family relating to how overlooked she always was and I wish more time had been spent on that. It feels like Emery had one phone conversation with her mom and suddenly all was resolved and I think her issues are deep and complicated enough that there needed be more time spent on addressing them with her WHOLE family.

I will say I was worried for a while that Emery would feel obligated to give up her chef dreams to stay with Alexei and help care for his daughter and I really do appreciate that that's not the choice the author made because that would have really pissed me off. I really loved Alexei being supportive of Emery's dreams (bare minimum but still) especially in light of how her parents reacted.

All in all, it wasn't my fave of the series but it wasn't as bad as the previous book.

Book 89 of 2025

“It means you are my soul, and I will hold you in my heart forever, even if we can never be together again. It means I will not forget you, but I hope that if you can find better, you do, because I want you to be happy. I want my soulmate to have everything she’s ever dreamed of.”

I was completely consumed by Alexei and Emery – in that giddy, I don’t want to stop reading, silently screaming in the middle of because you can’t believe that just happened kind of consumed. I am completely obsessed with the Off the Ice series, and in the last book (my then favorite book in the series), we got to meet Emery Granger. She was a fun-loving side character that now takes center stage, and the tension and the banter that she has with Alexei was a shining star. These two were a slow burn – a spark from two years ago that was locked away, and now they are thrust into each other’s lives again. He’s a Russian goalie, single-dad to a precocious two-year old. She’s a chef and temporary live-in nanny for the man of her dreams because of their past. What could be better? The smolder. The looks. The pain. The need. The tension. The heat. Forced proximity. There’s no one else but YOU type of mood.

I love that @AinsleyBooth also wrote a storyline that included – mild spoilers – a plotline that prioritizes the sexual relationship. Both Alexei and Emery weren’t with anyone else for two years since their late-night encounter, because they were holding a torch for the other. I love that we get to see that realization play out in real time. @AinsleyBooth gave us so many layers of intimacy which really heightened the relationship between the two and made me even more excited as a reader.

Plus we got our cast of characters that we already love from the team and their WAG’s. I loved adding Emery to that list! We got a relationship with her and Shannon, which was tumultuous because of Russ in the last book. We got Ty and Kylie, Keiran and Harper, plus WAGS Ani and Becca. I also love that we are getting a foreshadowing of the Granger brothers which will be the next series, and I am already invested. Brothers on different NHL teams? Yes please. My favorite cameo? Shannon’s ex and Highlands ex-captain Max Tillman came into the home barn, and seeing Russ defend his woman was EVERYTHING because I fell in love with him and Shannon in Book 3, The Rebound Plan.

It was all capped off with the epilogue, and then a bonus story set fifteen years later. Need I say more? Oh wait, the spice…. The SPICE. These two were on fire in all the best ways. I will be waiting for my book and chocolate delivery, and a video with kisses and “my sunshine.” Oh, and I will never look at braids the same way again.

I am a sucker for a single dad trope. 🤭🥹
Single Dad + Hockey Goalie & Russian speaking one at that! His Russian nicknames had me melting.
I literally read this book in one sitting. I read till my kindle fell on my face at 1am, then picked it back up at 6:30am to finish! 😂
The first sentence of the book is… wow! Way to start the book off Ainsley!

After a failed one night stand, Alexei and Emery are back in the same orbit. A family emergency has Alexei in a bind needing care for his now 2 year old daughter. He asks Emery to be his personal chef, but she’s also thrown in the EBUB. Emergency Back Up Babysitter. Inessa and Emery have an instant bond.
Emery and Alexei’s chemistry was leaping off the page. I loved that they didn’t automatically leap right back into something and tried to keep it professional. For as long as they could!
I loved the relationship with all her brothers. & the fact she played hockey herself. Her being a badass practicing against Alexei had me kicking my feet!

I seriously enjoyed this book and am so grateful for the chance to read this arc! Thank you Ainsley!

I received an advance review copy for free from Ember Literary Pr and the author, and I am leaving this review voluntarily. All the opinions are my own.

The Nanny Goal was genuinely so much fun. Alexei is THE book boyfriend, he's sweet and so into Emery. She is strong and independent but also feels a little forgotten. And Alexei could never put her first, of course, over his toddler daughter. Or could he?

Honestly, Alexei is the sort of man who will do anything for his WHOLE family. He listens to Emery, to what she says, what she likes, and he's generally there for her. When he makes a mistake, he comes back and apologises. He supports her dreams and figures out a way, where they both get what they want. She just needs to say the word, and he'll do anything to make her happy.

I loved their dynamic, their relationship, and little Inessa was a sweet addition to this whole book.

To summarise, I'm gonna finish with an Alexei quote:

"I’ve been in love with her for two years, man. And she wanted nothing to do with me. This isn’t something casual. I love her.”

“I knew she was trouble as soon as we met,” I continue. “The best kind of trouble."

You guys,....just go read it, yeah? 💜

I was in a total BOOK SLUMP after finishing a beloved series and this book pulled me out of it.  It was one of those books where every time you're not reading it, you're thinking about reading it.

Alexei has quickly climbed the book boyfriends list.  I LOVED HIM.  He was perfection.  Everything he does, everything he says, the way he acts... We love him.

Emery was relatable in so many ways, but I really loved the way she showed her love for Alexei and his daughter, Inessa.  I loved how Emery battled her own family issues, and how Alexei's family welcomed her warmly into their family (before either Alexei or Emery even admitted anything was happening between the two of them).

By the very end of the book,  I  saw a bit of AInsley's alter ego Chloe Maine (another favorite author) peeking through in the writing about Emery's first time and about wanting to have children together.  (I mean this as a compliment!)

This books was VERY HOT - I can't even tell you how many highlights I had.

Definitely recommend this book, this series, anything / everything written by Ainsley Booth (or Zoe York or Chloe Maine, tbh!)

Okay, so here’s the thing … I did not, not, like the story of Alexei & Emery, but I felt very disconnected from them. Like I was missing a huge piece of information, but I didn’t know how or why. It happened for too long into the book and I felt some kind of way about it. Well, suffice it to say, that’s the reason it took me this long to finish this ARC. It was too easy to put down. Objectively though, the story had a deep swoony vibe to it, the words were there but it just didn’t … sigh … *hangs head*

I’m not going to say any more because we all know that no two people ever read the same book. Perhaps it was timing and if I decide to pick up this book again at a later date, I’ll find the connection I lacked today. Who’s to know. And I also don’t want to make a list of grievances when I can’t even tell you why I feel the way I feel. Well, that’s not exactly true, but it just doesn’t matter because when I look at the sum total of what Ainsley Booth’s stories are, she’s an excellent storyteller with an impeccable track record so I’m going to exit stage right now.

Thank you, Ember Literary PR and Ainsley Booth for the ARC! It was everything!

Just wow! This story bewitched me, I was completely obsessed with it. It was really intense, both emotionally and spiritually. Emery and Alexei’s bond was so strong, thick, heartwarming. They gave me all the good feelings. The romantic side was so pure, sweet. Their relationship was based on trust, on supporting each other; which I consider being the best way a love story can work.

I really really loved this book a lot! It made my heart squeeze and flutter with so much joy and love! The bonus chapter was AMAZING!!

ARC Review – The Nanny Goal by Ainsley Booth

I absolutely devoured this book! Alexei is the kind of swoony, supportive single dad that romance dreams are made of, and his chemistry with Emery crackled from page one. What made it even better? He’s genuinely invested in her future and encourages her to chase her dreams—no drama, just real, solid love.

The spice level is 🔥🔥🔥 and perfectly balanced with the emotional depth. Emery’s connection with Inessa was so heartwarming, and I loved how much found-family energy the story had.

If you’re into nanny/single dad romances with second chances and top-tier steam, this one’s for you. Easily one of my favorites in the Off the Ice series!

As an avid reader, especially Hockey romance, I have read all the previous books in this series and enjoyed every one. I know that they can all be read separately but I do recommend reading them all first, or at least Russ and Shannon's book #3 because Emery played a big role in that book and references are made quite often.

They say when the time is right you will meet "the one" but in Alexei and Emery that wasn't the case. Due to circumstances beyond their control, their first meeting started off amazing but ended in disaster. That night changed Alexei's life forever, learning that he was a father to a little girl and becoming a single Dad.

Eighteen months later, Alexei has been traded to the Hamilton Highlanders and is their starting goalie while doing his best to raise Inessa with the help of his parents. His career trajectory changed when he was traded away from his best friend and their old team where he was just the back up goalie. He still thought about Emery who was his bright light in the dark and wish things could have been different.

Emery grew up in a Hockey house with her Dad once playing and all of her brothers playing for different NHL teams. She played and excelled at the sport too, playing in college and the Olympics as well. Though her achievements in Hockey were not recognized within her family because it wasn't the NHL. The toxic belittling by her family was one of the main reasons Emery gave up her Hockey passion and focused on her love of food and cooking. She needed to find a life for herself outside her family's negativity and make herself a priority.

The previous summer, Emery made friends with a lot of the Highlanders and their WAGs while helping out her friend Russ. This was prior to Alexei's trade to the team. (Book #3)During this time, Emery felt like she had found a family and was comfortable with the teammates and often joined them for on ice practice. She felt safe and seen with her Highlanders family. So when her mother suggested a roadtrip to watch her brother's team play against the Highlanders, she accepted knowing that she would most likely be seeing Alexei for the first time since their disappointing meeting.

When Alexei and Emery saw each other again, it was once again amid another chaotic night for Alexei. Emery didn't want to have anything to do with Alexei but once again Emery's mother guilt tripped her into putting hockey first and herself last. Emery reluctantly agreed to temporarily help Alexei but hated that the NHL always seemed more important to her parents than her. Even though she was unsure she felt a kinship to Inessa because she was once a hockey players kid and knew how hard that could be without a strong support system.

Through the forced proximity, Emery and Alexei were able to put the past behind them and become friends and eventually started to explore the possible of more. At first their relationship was relatively innocent and they were able to trust each other with parts of themselves that they kept to themselves. As the trust grew so did the love and soon both Emery and Alexei were thinking of the future.

The only obstacle was that Emery had made plans for her future that didn't include hockey and she was worried that everyone would force her to give up on her dreams to play a supporting role in Alexei's career. It wasn't the first time her family made her dreams insignificant. Emery wanted both her dreams and a life with Alexei and Inessa. With the help of Shannon, she realized that she had to admit what she wanted and go for her dream. Shannon reminded her that going for her own dream didn't mean all of her other wants had to end, that she could find a way to gave everything she wanted or those things weren't meant to be. Shannon was right and Alexei proved that he would support her dreams and that he would be waiting for her to return or come to her whenever possible. He was the first person in her life that made her a priority beside their Highlanders family. With Alexei's support Emery followed her dreams, even though her mother made her feel small and selfish. By doing so Alexei changed Emery's mind about becoming a WAG and she willing joined the elite.

Alexei and Emery's story was bumpy with lots of tears, toddler tantrums, and the angst created their families. Through the pain and misunderstandings a bright light shone and laughter and smiles ensued. Their love grew slowly but in the end stood tall, like a resilient sunflower. Alexei and Emery took adversity and made something amazing together with the help of their Highlanders family. Emery and Alexei were meant for each other and they knew it right from the start!

Each of Ainsley's characters are strong and very unique. I love them all but I think Emery is my favorite. Even though she wasn’t the FMC in book 3 she stole the show in a way. I couldn't wait for her happy ending and I knew that only a goalie that has a protective streak a mile long would be able to handle her slapshot! I'd give this book 6 🌟 stars if I could because I loved it so much!

I had the pleasure of meeting Ainsley Booth at SRC2025 and I was thrilled when I was chosen for an ARC. Thank you, Ainsley and Ember Literary for the opportunity. This review is voluntarily given and even if I hadn't received an ARC I definitely would have read this book! I probably will re-read it again and again.

I didn't like the book very much because I felt like Emery was just a pawn that everyone could move around as they pleased. She let that happen. Alexei didn't respect her or her wishes, either, and talked down to her. In the end, she got married and had one child after another, and there was no more talk of her own career.

Alexei Artyomov was traded. After spending almost ten years in the Calgary organization, from getting drafted to slowly developing in their farm teams, he honestly thought he might spend his entire career there. He was lucky to meet a guy who became his best friend.
The trade blindsided Alexei. “We appreciate everything you have done here in Calgary…”

Before he left Calgary, the Granger family came to see all four of their sons face off as they played against one another, two against two. And they were all meeting for dinner at a restaurant. Alexei got there early and went to the bar for a drink. He sees a beautiful woman all spread out with her things. He chuckles to himself. But he watches her because he finds her so alluringly beautiful. Once she is off her call, they start to flirt, and all too soon, she is pulled into a double bear hug by two of her hockey-loving older brothers, Forrest and Connor.

“Welcome to Hamilton, son. We understand you have a young child, and your parents live with you. We have people in the organization who can help them get settled. Furthermore, we need you to fly out today…” Mind you, for most, that’s a hard transition, but for Alexei, it’s monumental. The reason is that he and his parents are from Russia. He had been doing everything he could to fix it by learning English, but for his parents, however, not so much. That’s even with him getting them private lessons. But now he has to move and find a place to live far away from his family and rely on strangers to have their best interests at heart. Did they even speak Russian?

Emery Granger came from a hockey family that lived, breathed, ate, and probably pooped hockey pucks. You see, her four brothers played for the NHL, heck, she went to the Olympics twice, playing hockey, and coming home victorious each time. Her parents only showed up once she was convinced because none of her brothers were scheduled to play hockey, and none conflicted with her “hobby” as her parents thought of her playing hockey. Yet, she was good enough to play in the NHL.

He’d already put the pieces together. His buddy Forrest, a former teammate in Calgary, is one of five kids. Emery is his younger sister, but he has three older brothers, who also all play in the NHL. Forrest has no clue just how hot his sister is. So, when Emery starts openly flirting with Alexei and no one catches on. Things get flaming hot when Alexei walks her to her hotel room. That's when the most important call of his life comes in right after he and Emery do the deed. Two years go by before he sees her again. And he is thrust into the love of his life’s world again.

Alexei’s thought: I can’t believe I went two years without seeing her. Now that she’s in front of me, I never want to let her go again.

Quote:”Will you take my name, and have my babies, and make me happy forever?”

Alexei, Emery and their hard fought happy end

Alexei and Emery are on a journey with hurdles, obstacles and grand feelings.
After their short encounter two years ago, neither of them could forget the other one. But when Emery was hurt by Alexei’s actions and angry, he could never move on from the woman he fell for at first sight.
Life took them through the wringer and had them work so hard to get their happy end. But when he has the chance to get her into his life again, no matter in what position, he takes it and sees this as his chance.
They can slowly solve their situation from two years ago, but today both have their plans for life mapped out and they are slightly incompatible. At least for Alexei’s wishes.
Maturing and making compromises is a learning process and that both do.
It is no easy way to a happy end, but they manage it pretty well. And the family issues both have on their sides could too, being solved. Appreciated the friend and teammates group and them having each other's back.

ARC
*Spoilers*

Alexei and Emery have a past that caused them both to miss out on what could have been the start of forever.

Alexei finding out he has a daughter coming and having to tell the one woman he fell for at first sight, to find someone better than him because he wasn’t good enough for her in the same night, was upsetting. In a short period, his whole life turned upside down when he got traded to another team and has to prove himself worthy of the starting goalie, then his mom had a heart attack and trying to be the best single dad he can be to his daughter is not what he was expecting to deal with along with the one who he can’t stop thinking about comes back into his life holding his sleeping daughter Inessa.

Emery is setting herself up for success by following her dreams and doing what she knows she is good at. She is trying to come to terms with the fact that her family doesn’t seem to care about what she wants or how she feels. Her decision to help out Alexei after her parents guilt-tripped her shows she still has feelings for him, and she does everything she can to keep those feelings at bay so she can make it through. The love she has for Inessa is more than just a nanny, she loves her like a mother.

Both were trying to keep their feelings locked down so they wouldn’t end up getting hurt. Alexei kept his feelings hidden so Emery would be comfortable helping him, and he didn’t want her to stop following her dreams. He supported her no matter their relationship. Emery hid her feelings to be there to help a friend in need, and for a change, make sure she is putting herself first. Alexei's love and support for her dreams, I think, was the missing piece to Emery knowing this is the path she needs to take because it is what makes her happy. He will always before there for her.

Alexei and Emery found their way back to each other when they both needed love and support, but neither was expecting or ready for it.

Wow, I absolutely adored this book! The storyline was filled with so many emotions, some angst and panty melting sizzle.

Emory and Alexei had a brief hook-up the night they meet, but were interrupted when his ex-girlfriend notifies him she’s delivering his baby when he had no idea she was even pregnant. Two years later and they are both still affected by that night.

I loved how Alexei adapted to being a single dad and kept his feelings for Emory even though she had blocked him and seemingly moved on. Emory is still attracted to Alexei, but she made an effort to keep living her life and to mature after mistakenly thinking Alexei had been with her while his girlfriend was pregnant.

I appreciated the author showing a young woman who continued to fight for her dreams, and was willing to change course when what she had been doing wasn’t exactly what she wanted. Despite pressure from her family, she didn’t cave to what they expected her to do when it meant putting aside her own goals. She was still compassionate and willing to help, but she stood up for herself at the same time.

Alexei’s daughter, Inessa, is an adorable little hurricane. I loved how Emory put aside her hurt and anger towards Alexei and stepped up to take care of Inessa. Emory’s searching Google and Tik Tok for babysitting advice was on point for her age and lack of babysitting experience.

The close proximity and unresolved passion between Alexei and Emory keeps things simmering between them for a slow to moderate burn, until it boils up to some really spicy moments. Beyond the spice, Alexei makes an effort to communicate with Emory and does sweet things to let her know he’s thinking of her while away in road trips.

I loved this book and am very interested in reading more from this author.

I received an advance review copy for free from the author and Embers PR; and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

The Nanny Goal by Ainsley Booth

Thanks you for this opportunity to read this arc it was so amazing and light hearted to read. @emberliterarypr

Really I do love my sports romance especially after reading a heavy Romantasy and crime Thriller. It sets your mind at peace and always have a great storyline with a happy ending which is more than deserving.

“𝙸 𝚠𝚒𝚕𝚕 𝚗𝚎𝚟𝚎𝚛 𝚎𝚡𝚙𝚎𝚌𝚝 𝚢𝚘𝚞 𝚝𝚘 𝚏𝚘𝚕𝚕𝚘𝚠 𝚒𝚗 𝚊𝚗𝚢𝚘𝚗𝚎’𝚜 𝚏𝚘𝚘𝚝𝚜𝚝𝚎𝚙𝚜, 𝚘𝚛 𝚋𝚎 𝚊𝚗𝚢𝚘𝚗𝚎 𝚎𝚕𝚜𝚎’𝚜 𝚌𝚑𝚎𝚎𝚛𝚕𝚎𝚊𝚍𝚎𝚛,” 𝙸 𝚙𝚛𝚘𝚖𝚒𝚜𝚎 𝚑𝚎𝚛. “𝚈𝚘𝚞 𝚐𝚎𝚝 𝚝𝚘 𝚋𝚎 𝚢𝚘𝚞𝚛 𝚟𝚎𝚛𝚢 𝚘𝚠𝚗 𝚙𝚎𝚛𝚜𝚘𝚗, 𝚊𝚕𝚠𝚊𝚢𝚜.

This is my favourite quote in the book from Alexei to Emery.

The way he always looks at the situation and knows he makes a mistakes and tries to rectify to make Emery life so much better and easier. You can tell she was and will always be a Priority for him. That's what she mainly needs in her life, that constant someone who will be there for her as a rock and anchor and that will always support her on what ever she decides to do in her career and life.

After a failed one night stand to never seeing each other again till 2 years later, as she helps him with his toddler ( Inessa ) due to family emergency.

The bonds I loved the most was Emery and his daughter Inessa, they instantly connected and got on so well. Especially having her routine change so dramatically I think it was lovely for that to be a major part of the book.

The Nanny Goal is the book 4 in the Off the Ice series. While the books are interconnected standalones, I highly recommend reading the previous ones to fully immerse yourself in the incredible world Ainsley Booth has created!

This book had everything I was looking for in a cozy, spicy hockey romance. It's a single dad, nanny, second chance love story and Ainsley nailed it.

Dayton Calloway is a pro hockey player and single dad doing his best, and kind of floundering in the most endearing way. Enter Emery Granger: his almost one night stand, his best friend’s little sister, and the only person available to watch his daughter last minute. So yeah, the tension? Absolutely there. Emery’s always had a thing for her brother’s best friend, and it turns out Alexi’s been crushing right back.

Their shared history felt raw and authentic, full of messy emotions and lingering feelings. Watching them slowly let each other in again? Chef’s kiss. And Dayton with his daughter? Melt-your-heart adorable. Bonus points for him whispering his feelings in a language she doesn’t understand just to express them without pressure. Swoon.

Yes, it’s steamy, but it’s also layered with real emotional depth and even touches on gender dynamics in sports, especially for girls in hockey. And the Canadian backdrop gives it a cozy, grounded feel.

If you love the brother’s best friend trope, second chance romance, and sweet stories packed with banter and heart, definitely give this one a go. It’s a quick read, but it packs a punch in all the right ways.

Thank you Ember Literary and Ashley for this ARC opportunity! I can’t wait for what’s next for Ashley.

Thank you to Ember Literary and Ainsley Booth for the e-ARC in exchange for my honest review!
This book was such a fun, cute and quick read and I loved that it was Canadian! Growing up watching and playing hockey definitely helped make this book have more impact.

The Nanny Goal follows Alexei, an NHL goalie, who after meeting the most exquisite woman, finds out he’s a dad and is left to figure out how to juggle his pro career and single parenthood.
The exquisite woman was none other than Alexei’s best friend’s sister. Which means she should be off limits, and after the abrupt ending to their one night together, Emery wants nothing to do with him anyways. But when Alexei’s mom has a health scare and can no longer watch Inessa (Alexei’s daughter), Emery steps up as a backup baby sitter/chef. Tensions run high as these two spend more time together but will it be enough to get them through some big life changes?

Like I mentioned at the start, loved the Canadian hockey aspect, the camaraderie of Alexei’s teammates and his overall single dad dynamic was well written. I enjoyed each of our main characters POVs, seeing inside each of their heads and finding out how much they deeply cared for each other. Inessa is the absolute sweetest little girl and the way she attached herself to Emberly right away was adorable.
There were a few phrases and plot points that bothered me, a lot of virginal descriptions which I just don’t love and I don’t think we were ever actually told what happened to Alexei’s mom but overall I did really enjoy the book overall and definitely recommend it if you love the nanny/brother’s best friend trope!

Thank you Ember Literary PR and Ainsley Booth for this e-arc 🏒

I really really enjoyed this one, I’m a sucker for a single dad trope, throw a nanny in there and say no more. The chemistry between Emery and Alexei LEAPED off the page, their attraction was evident right from the start which made the story truly compelling.

Emery was a strong, kind, caring character and it was so sweet to see how fully she committed to supporting Alexei and his daughter, Inessa. Seeing her growth throughout this book and learning how to put her own wants and needs first was something I really related to.

Alexei was tough and tender but also a golden retriever, the way he cared and supported Emery and wanting only the best for her was so sweet. His bond with his daughter was the cutest. His Russian heritage, including the language barrier with his family, added an extra layer of depth to the story.

Inessa was beautifully portrayed - wild, lively, strong willed who constantly walked the line between cute and stubborn. Her bond with Emery was truly heartwarming and my heart squeezed when she called her “my Emmy” 🥹

The emotional and physical tension between them both was very well developed throughout the book. I was obsessed with the Russian pet names, absolutely melted.

This was SUCH a fun read! I am absolutely in love with Alexei and Emery! Alexei is a single dad to his two year old daughter and also a pro hockey player. Emery is the younger sister to Alexei’s best friend. They had a failed one night stand two years ago and ever since they have avoided each other. When Alexei has a family emergency Emery just so happens to be in town and she falls into a role helping Alexei and his daughter. She calls herself the EBUB (Emergency Back Up Babysitter). She immediately has a connection with Alexei’s daughter Inessa and their bond is so sweet.
I loved the angst in this their tension was so hot. Emery and Alexei both had big feelings from the beginning, but this slow burn took a while for them to finally give in and connect. When they do end up together their chemistry is so good. Alexei is a German shepherd book boyfriend for sure. He is SO protective of his daughter and his woman. Emery is amazing. She is a hockey player herself and she has fought hard to stand on her own after have four hockey playing brothers. The family relationships in this are all amazing! I loved how all of the characters have strong connections to so many people (Found family and blood family).

Thank you to Ember Literary PR and Ainsley Booth for an ARC of this book!
