Making it Faster: Tales from the Endless Search for Speed

Rate this book
In motorsports there have been an endless series of performance advances where one wonders, how did they ever figure this out? Other times one asks, how did they not see this when the answer was there for all to see? These are the stories of discovery by 3 generations of racers and designers who changed the state of the art forever. It is also the story of clever tricks and rule book interpretation to win the ever-escalating contest between rule makers and loophole seekers, told by those directly involved in Formula One, Le Mans, Indycar, IMSA, Moto GP, Trans-Am, and NASCAR. Their innovations dazzled us all.

Interesting read. Somewhat disjointed as it bounced around different forms of motorsport, but full of great quotes and bench racing stories. Recommended for the IMSA/Trans-Am/ALMS stories and info.

I have the first edition of this small but length softcover book the difference is only that it has a neater cover with Dan Binks of Corvette Racing Team and picture on the back of the BadBoyVettes "Jake" skull Corvette C6.R. The book is a tedious read even for the most advanced readers. The book focuses very briefly here and there on Corvette Racing with some great anecdotes and a little history by Binks and Tommy Kendall including the Wonderful Chevy Beretta And The Chevrolet Intrepid GTP race car which deserve it's own book but then it goes all over the place different types of racing from Automotive racing to Motorcycle and back. It is not well-paced,hectic,bad editing and bad quality black and white photos. The author fails to engage the reader which is a shame since there is a great ton of detail.

Great history of motor sports technology

This is a great history of how far motor sports has come in the advancements of technology. In addition to historical data, the book details the sports technological future vision.
