I was just like every one else. A simple girl with a simple life. I have a huge crush on Alex, and I had planned to talk to him, until she came along. Cali. She is always there. It's so weird. The last person I wanted to talk to was the arrogant Sebastian, but when he asked me and my best friend to his party, I had to say yes. In one night I learned that I am far from ordinary. My name is Selene Athans, and I am a Migades.
Dee King is the Best Selling Fantasy and Paranormal Romance author of The Charming Series, along with the Best Selling metaphysical, stand alone novel, Enchanted Legacy. She lives in the Midwest with her husband of seventeen plus years and two beautiful daughters. When she's not writing, she can be found listening to music, finding Indie bands to promote, and trolling Netflix for movies and shows. She enjoys long walks on the beach, moonlight strolls.. Oh wait, that's a different bio.
Either way, she pretty much enjoys life and being an author, just ask her.
This book was freaking Fabulous! I haven't read a Paranormal this well written in a very long time! Her characters are easily loveable and her writting is magnificent! Can't wait for the next book ♡
Note: I was given this book in exchange for an honest review.
A coming of age story about a girl named Selene Athans who is in her final weeks of her senior year of high school. While at a party, she finds out something rather special- about herself. She realizes that she, and most of the people around her, are not what she originally thought. From here, her life changes. Forever. Her friends seem to change, as well as her home, but her heart knows what it wants. And that is what matters, because that is what everyone around her is waiting on. Selene's decisions may change the future of a lot of lives-a lot is on the line. That is a lot of pressure for a girl who is trying to finish up her finals and graduate high school. Although I'm not usually a fan of books that don't have a final ending (no HEA here), I found myself liking this book. It was a rather fun read, nothing too heavy, so it made it a little easier to just sit and read. There is more to come in this series and I look forward to seeing how this really does end!
Dee King has written an interesting story with a lot of twists and turns you may not be expecting. She has set the bar high with this book, the first in the "The Charming Series". A love story through and through. I found myself looking forward to the times I had to read the book. You often find yourself spellbound to the book to find out how it all is wrapped up.
I just can't wait until the next book in the series to see what happens next!!
The writing in this book is pretty terrible, and so is the story. I'm not big into dumb romance stories where all the characters care about is hooking up with someone they're obsessed with, but since it was free on Amazon for a few days, I decided I'd give it a try. Honestly, Dee King desperately needs an editor. A better one, anyway. The issue might partially be because of how Kindle books are formatted, but the grammar, punctuation, and writing style are horrendous. The story could probably be enjoyable if it was written better, but all I can do while reading it is to mentally rewrite it and pretend someday I will get the privileged of editing. Selene is obsessed with Alex. And she hates Sebastian. But then she agrees to go to Sebastian's house for the party he is hosting and doesn't seem to care much when Alex starts paying attention to her. Then at the party, things get really weird, and Selene thinks she has been drugged. Alex, Sebastian, and Cali keep telling her things that don't make sense - things about her being some sort of goddess or "migades." I don't know what that is supposed to mean, but since this is a fantasy novel, I assumed that it would be made at least somewhat clear soon, since it seems to be a huge part of the story. But it's not. The connection or distinction between gods/goddesses and whatever this "migades" thing is has not been explained, thought Mount Olympus was mentioned. Since I didn't recognize the term "midages" from my brief studies of Greek Mythology, I looked up the word. But "midages" is apparently not even a word anywhere on the internet. I don't want to stop reading this book because Dee King is an independent author and I want to support her, but I don't know if I can force myself through the rest of it...
I'm not really sure how i feel about this story. For a coming of age story, i found it quite complicated and in the end i'm still not completely sure who the Migrades are and what the Gods children are on Earth.
Selene is in high school and she has had a crush on Alex for three years but one night at Sebastian's house, this guy that she really finds annoying, she realizes that she isn't who she thought she was. She is a goddess. She never knew her father and she finds out he's a god and her mother agreed to carry his child. Her life gets complicated when she finds out that Sebastian and Alex are also children of Gods and she has to decide who she wants to be with and become the love of her life. She also has to decide if she wants to stay on Earth or go to mount Olympus where all the Gods live. Complicated, i know!
I'm still not completely sure what the story was all about and i felt that there were no answers to why she had to choose who to be with or anything else that needed answering. It is only the first book so maybe in book two, we will find out more about this story. I'm not sure. It was funny in some places and Selene is a very feisty character.
The story was good, the characters were endearing. There were editing and formatting issues that could be a little distracting. I would recommend this book to anybody who wants a supernatural coming-of-age tale.
