Food #5

All Hate the King

Rate this book
Meet the royal family of Pacifica.
And spend a day with the King, the Queen, and their children. But be warned…
King Harth’agon has had a rough day and he’s hungry. People suffer and die when THAT happens.
Queen Crierra—supposedly a monarch of equal standing to her husband, the king. Yet she suffers undeniable marginalization and indignities because she married into the royal family instead of being born into it. Though equally as cruel as her husband, she metes out her ire in more devious and subtle ways.
Crown Prince Kar’rush loves nothing more than prodding and testing his father’s patience.
Younger brothers, Prince Brandyn and Prince Jamethar, live under the radar but know, deep in their hearts, that nations and peoples the world over despise them—and their country.
Sweet Princess Felicity simply wants her family to get along, though she’s certainly not above enjoying a bowl of bone broth soup or a slice of human ham.
But the entire royal family—and the people around them—all want to ensure they remain safe. Though, they perhaps each have their own concept of what that safety is.
And when mealtime comes, it’s more than just a lively discussion of their day. Because every lunch brings misery. Every dinner means someone’s slow murder. The family’s very existence breeds hate.
And hate makes people do terrible things.
This is an extreme horror novel. It contains cannibalism, harm to children, graphic violence, explicit incest, and torture. Read at your own risk.

Do You Really Want to Know What is in the Gravy? :)

Small backstory:

The Kingdom of Pacifica is slowly simmering in the hot sun as the staff within the kingdom realize that things are not what they seem and there are dark secrets that lie buried within the kingdom. Most of the staff know what is laid out on the table for the family of the king but as time goes on there are murmurings throughout the kingdom of what is to be done for the future of the kingdom and not everyone is agreeable with the king!

That is about all I can hand out with a small backstory without giving away spoilers so if you want to know more then go read this book and series!

Thoughts:

This is the fifth installment in this extreme horror series. The author, Jeffrey Caston goes deep into this book with tons of twists, turns, mystery, suspense, and lots of extreme icky moments of what kind of food is prepared for the characters within the family of the king.

Where the fourth book left off this one picks up and the pace is fast throughout the story as lots of things fall into place and come together as the inner workings of the kingdom goes into overdrive! As always with this series I had my gore suit on and ready as I knew that the author was going to be taking me deep into this story with lots of blood and bone trailing along behind me! This was another great book in this series. Looking forward to the final installment and ending of this series! Giving this book five "Twisted Tasty Terror" stars!

All Hate The King - part of the sensational 'Food' series.

Quite simply, a brilliant futuristic adult fairytale were the despotic regime that rules the kingdom of Pacifica (NW US) see their world begin to crumble as matters, in more ways than one, begin to go horribly awry.

Thoroughly enjoyed it, but found that it lacked a little punch near the end as the narrative seemed to concentrate more on setting up the final episode in the 'Food' series rather than giving us some final, gruesome and grisly explosive action to keep us satisfied until the delightful and glorious, bloody last course of 'Desserts' arrive.

Thank you, Jeff - glad to say, you managed to smash it again...great stuff!!

Highly recommended - can be read as a stand alone, but maybe better if taken in series order to fully appreciate the cleverly-crafted development woven into the overall storyline.

Rating: 4.5 bright, fleshy red stars of intended regicidal insanity.

this was a rollercoaster for moi. at first did not love following the royal family, but when shit hits the fan it explodes. obsessed. also love the raven gods and the representation of thought and memory. at the end everyone is broken or almost there which will be a perfect set up for the final book.

i need help with the dream travelers tho. the rubitha bit lost me ngl but do you mean to tell me that geoffrey (and subsequently..the twins) ARENT EVEN IN THE SAME TIME AS PACIFICA? they’re from the early 2000s????? so they just live normal lives when they’re awake? so where tf the twins at. the lore is building and im trying not to get left behind but the dump at the end has me stuck.

thought this was the last book but ill be waiting for desserts..

What a twisty end to this series! Well..not end, but you know. The last book available to read. We get some solid relationship ties, get a few gasps, and a few twists! Honestly I’m invested and low key salty at myself for not knowing the series wasn’t finished cuz now I have to wait 🤣
I’d recommend reading the entire Food series all together. It’s nice little appetizers to our main story entree 👩‍🍳

Another great book in the series. A few times my jaw dropped to the floor. So many moving parts in this one, because of that and all of the twists I could not put this book down. I cannot wait until the final book. Fantastic 5 star read and a fave indie author.

How fortunate I was to get an early peak at this - and to come to the pleasant conclusion that this is the best one in the series so far.

Caston's "Food" world is intricate, dark and completely unforgiving - and any post-apocalyptic story fans should get their hands on these stories.
