After many years on the road to escape wars and hunger, my people settle on the border of the remote wetlands. But peace proves illusive even here.
As one of the village guards, I’m tasked to protect a group of women on a berry-picking trip into the bog orcs’ territory. We’re ambushed, and I’m taken into the orcs’ keep as the High Chief Agor’s plaything.
Faced with the mighty orc, who’s more than twice my size, I have to rely on my wits to overpower him. But neither of us is prepared for how much we both will enjoy playing the power exchange game with each other. _________________
This book is part of the multi-author series Dark Orcs of Helfallow. All books I this series stand alone and can be read in any order.
In the world of Helfallow, Orcs are everywhere—ranging from the open plains to the towering mountains, from the jagged seaside cliffs to the shadowed depths of ancient forests. Brutality and domination are the law of the land, where survival is earned through strength and ferocity. The only question that remains: which tribe will claim you as its captive?

Omgosh!! I was drawn into the story right from the start! I love the strength of the characters. How he responds to her strength and how all of the orcs respect "who" someone is and not just that they are human. Now I need to see if Marina has more stories in this orc settlement. I know this is a multi author series, but... Intersted in some from this settlement meeting their match with Marina's writing style.
This book is fully ridiculous (complimentary). My rating rose as it went. Becca is a soldier in a pathetic human encampment, they've been driven to the edge of a swamp/woods by the ever encroaching orcs. Foragers get attacked, Becca pretty much single-handedly fights off some orcs, killing one, and then later is taken by another. Here's what was great about this book - the flat out fight scenes (that were so well choreographed I felt I knew exactly where and what everyone was doing). Becca is a baddie, and is not about to let some orc take advantage, and fights to the end.
Here's what was ridiculous (derogatory), Agor is the orc chief and basically takes Becca back to their fort to SA her, with the expectation that if she survives that, he'll share her around. Orcs be forking. He has a tag team of two women ready to come in service him as soon as he's done with Becca. She baddies her escape from the person ABOUT TO SA HER and is like, well, maybe just a taste. I mean, he does promise not to imprison her again if she does so...
Anyhoo, what follows is fairly ridiculous (neutral). He keeps coming back to her camp because he is drawn to her, and they marital congress a lot but Orcs and humans don't get along. There's some great stuff where she's calling him "good boy" and other endearments, and giving gentle kisses. And then there's stuff like culturally his people just have lots of sex with whomever all the time, and she's trying to figure out if they can "date" and then "court" and then "marry" without her losing her role as protector and being expected to be a housewife or whatever. I feel like there's a culture clash they need to work out there.
Finally at 57% we get his POV and see that he is, indeed courting her (again, the cultural differences with regard to intimacy examined when?) and yada yada his tribe and hers work together against a common enemy, they are together and she Romance Medicines a "star pebble" so she doesn't get pregnant and can keep being a baddie.
It was a fine, fun read. I never didn't know what would happen next, but I did really like how much of a fighter she was. Short and sweet.
Once again Marina Simcoe has provided us with an exciting and spicy story, great characters and an intriguing plot! I loved that our heroine was a bit older, had a wealth of life experience and the hard earned respect of the men in her village. Agor, our handsome orc chief is immediately captivated by her when they meet but Becca is no pushover and he has to really think about where he wants things to go with her - and then work hard to convince her! Agor is a well written and entertaining entry to the Dark Orcs of Helfallow world!

This just wasn't good at all sorry. I don't like my orcs simping. Or at least not like in this book. The h telling him "good boy" and treating him like a pet was ick for me. It's just my preference. It was also insta everything. They're fighting in the beginning and the only thing Becca can think about is Agor f****** her. Like that's really plausible. 🙄 She ties him up all the time as well. Yeah, not my idea of a good time in an orc book.
Agor is a different type of orc romance—in a good way. I liked that Becca is a fighter, taking an active role defending her human community. I liked that the humans lumped all orcs into one (bad) category, and Becca and her group had to learn that not all orcs are the same.
Agor himself is a leader of his community, and while they know of humans, they don’t really interact with them much. So when he and Becca have their meet-cute by inadvertently fighting together against a mutual foe, neither really has expectations of one another.
And at first, Agor is somewhat stereotypical—he takes Becca essentially as a battle prize, intending to have his way with her and then discard her. But Becca surprises him—and us—in many ways, changing his perspective entirely. That in turn means he’s working to shift Becca’s judgement of him.
I loved the unique relationship of Becca and Agor, and I really loved how Agor had to work to earn Becca after his initial assessment of her. I would have like to have understood a bit more about how the orc society functioned; interesting characters appeared but only in relation to Becca and Agor, and it was tough to understand how he as a chieftain could essentially disappear for days while courting Becca. But this is a distinctive orc romance, and it’s a pleasure to read.
I rather enjoyed this Orc tale! It was different because Becca a human female who has become a true warrior to protect her people. While out Foraging she and the people she's guarding come under attack by orcs. Becca gets everyone to safety but gets caught by an orc herself. Agor is the high chief of all the bog clans. When he sees Becca running he knows he needs to have her. When he brings her back to his keep he expects to have what he wants and move on. What he get is a power female who is smart and skilled and brings a level of excitement to his life he's never know. The game of flirty cat and mouse they play changes to something deeper and more fierce. They both end up wanting more than they ever thought they could possibly have. Agor has his work cut out for him he needs to convince Becca that he wants all of her heart mind soul and body and that he accepts her for all that she is warrior and woman. You've got to read and see if he's successful in wooing the warrior of his dreams.🌟🔥💖🔥🌟💖🔥🌟💖🔥🌟💖🌟🔥💖🌟🔥💖🌟🔥💖🔥🌟

Another good story from Marina Simcoe! This wasn’t my favorite from her if I’m being honest, but I still really liked it. What was lacking for me, was the chemistry between Agor and Becca, especially in the beginning. Now, as the story progressed, I did feel that their chemistry was established. I just personally like to feel that progression from the beginning. That’s a personal preference, so take that with a grain of salt. I did really like Becca’s character. She is a strong female surviving in a male dominated environment. I loved how she remained strong and independent throughout the story and really appreciated how Agor treated her as such. I will definitely be continuing on with this series even though other authors will be writing books 2-4.

FMC is a guard on duty when orcs attack the small group she’s working to protect. She kills one and then is kidnapped. She finds out the one she killed is the enemy of her enemy. The leader of the orcs takes her to his tent, where she later finds a way to chain him up. He’s into it and convinces her to bang him while he’s tied up. She doesn’t refuse. Then, she leaves and goes back home.
But along the way, she runs into an obstacle and the orc saves her. They have newfound respect for each other and he’s really into her. He helps her back to her village, but then begins leaving gifts for her.
Enemy orcs eventually attack her village and the good orcs help fight them back. Now her village accepts the good orcs. HEA
Idk why it’s considered “dark orcs” because I didn’t find it really dark at all.

I loved the story . The suspense, action and the main characters. Becca is human in an orc world. She lives in a caravan. I love that she is defiant, strong willed and can if necessary think out side of the box. She and Agor had chemistry. I loved all of the ways he tried to make her his bride. Loved the twists, and of course the steam to the eventual romance. Agor had his hands full with Becca. I loved the way she was able to "contained " him after he abducted her. See ,out side of the box thinking. His courting was interesting also. Good advice from Granny. The HEA hit the spot perfectly. Well done. Tis is a story I will be rereading.

Entering Bog Orc territory to collect berries wasn’t a wise move but starving over the winter was an even worse prospect for Becca’s village. The worst happens when they are found by the Orc’s and their chief Agor captures Becca. She shouldn’t, really shouldn’t be attracted to the massive Orc and it would seem he is more than intrigued by her, and with fate at play in their lives a really enjoyable story will be playing out against a backdrop of Orc and Human discord. This was a really good story in the Dark Orcs of Helfallow series by various authors, and this book one by Marina Simco was a steamy nicely written Orc romance with thrills, action, intrigue, and finely crafted characters.

“Sooner or later, I will get a different answer from you,” he vowed. “I will claim all of you, little newt, every single part of you, including your heart. And I don’t care how long or how much it will take.”
Marina Simcoe begins her new Dark Orcs of Helfallow series with the terrifying clash between dangerous orcs and the human warrior Becca. We learn that there are many factions in the orc hierarchy, with a leader named Agor.
Colorfully written, this fast paced story unfolds around the building relationship between Becca and Agor. It is exciting to read a strong female main character who has her mind and spirit, one who recognizes more than what is seen on someone’s ‘outside’.
This book delivers a thrilling and spicy fantasy romance. Becca, a strong and resourceful human warrior, is captured by Agor, the imposing High Chief of the Bog Orcs, during a dangerous mission. What begins as a battle of wills transforms into an unexpected bond as Becca’s courage and wit challenge Agor’s assumptions. Their evolving power dynamic is filled with humor, passion, and mutual respect, making their relationship fiery and heartfelt. This standalone novel in the "Dark Orcs of Helfallow" series offers a perfect mix of action, romance, and character growth. Becca’s independence and Agor’s transformation shine, creating a captivating story that will delight you if you are a fan of monster romances.
Okay, I don't know what I was expecting when reading this book but it was awesome!! Full of spice, adventure, suspense, battles. Epic. I truly don't think I've ever read such a full beginning, middle, and end story in under 200 pages. I loved it. From the very first page I was sucked in and smiling like an idiot by the last page.
I just have one complaint...why the name Becca?! 😅 In such a fantasy world where every name is represented as such, the name Becca completely threw me off lol. For the record, the name itself is beautiful and I mean no offense to anyone. It's just so real world compared to Agor, Ilya, Faeena, Grat, Nacy etc.
Becca is a human female warrior who thinks all orcs are evil until she meets Agor. She is a guard for the human village. When she is taken by Agor, she does everything she can to get away from him and she succeeds but only after she has her way with him while he was tied up. Their attraction to each other is off the charts. Then, Agor starts to leave gifts on her door step as a way to woo her. When the human village is attacked by an evil orc clan, Agor is there and fights along with Becca. Then Agor's tribe comes into the village when a life or death fight is going on and they get in on the fight. This story has romance, danger and action with a happy ending.
I had the pleasure of reading this online via a subscription and thoroughly enjoyed. Book one of another Orc series by a great collection of authors. :D A different dynamic with its leads as the female is quite sassy and quite capable of looking after herself. I loved their banter and how he rescues her, after she managed to get away from him! :D Such a fun book and look forward to more in this series. Two Strong Leaders While guarding her people in the forest, Becca kills one orc while another (Agor) bests her and takes her prisoner. When she turns the tables and escapes, there’s still an intense spark of attraction between Becca and Agor. I loved how these two were both such strong leaders, yet both were willing to flex for the other. Plus, the courtship presents were a real hit! A terrific read.
Becca and Agor are the perfect team. Becca is the unofficial leader of the human guard. She gets captured while giving her fellow humans a chance to run. But she doesn’t believe that Agor will not hurt her until he keeps showing he won’t. She didn’t know there are different types of orcs till it is explained to her. They must work together to defeat the enemy orcs and in the process Becca finds she can have her freedom and her orc too.
I'm not sure why this is listed as dark, there's NOTHING dark about this short story. There are only 12 chapters but no satisfying conclusion. I did like both main character's personalities. Becca was strong in both mind and body. Agora was kind and proud without being arrogant, a nice balance. I would've loved more world building, different cultures, more side character interaction. There was no real depth, no reaction from either community to the relationship, no real look into their future. It was entertaining, but i didn't love it.
I'm hooked!! A fast-paced, action-packed, and spicy as hell storyline, this book delivered!!!! I absolutely loved this one. Love that Becca was a strong and fierce warrior in her own right. And the scary, intimidating, alpha beast, Agor, was just a cinnamon roll deep down. I definitely need to find an Orc of my very own!!!! A must-read for any fantasy, monster romance lovers!!
Such a treat! Becca is simply awesome. Her inner strength and physical capabilities shine. I admire her ingenuity in difficult situations. I adore Agor! I love seeing how his fascination with Becca leads him to a rather unusual courtship. The story is action-packed, yet light-hearted and deliciously romantic. This combo can’t be beat!
Spicy sweetness Becca, a desperate but impressivly strong human finds her perfect match in Agor an equally impressive bog orc. Dark, violent and a high body count but the fighting, courting, dating and falling in love of Agor and Becca outshines all.

I really liked Agor from the very start! I was surprised by how smitten the orc chieftain is with our main character. I also appreciate that he took the time to woo her and let her be herself while they’re together. He encourages her to let her spirit soar and be free. He’s truly the best!.

Absolutely loved it. The right amount of action, drama, and spice. And a whole lot of heart. Can’t tell from the first few chapters because it’s seems like it’s all barbaric. But i promise that by the end you will be sighing with bliss. Such a good story and perfectly written. I hope the next books can live up to it.
I really enjoyed reading a book that didn't have a damsel in distress, but a female warrior. The sexual and verbal exchanges were humorous and heated! I loved this change of pace!
Two different worlds colliding. Becca and Agor learned they could exist together as well as their people and be better for it. I love that they were both warriors, and Agor wouldn't have Becca any other way.
I stopped at page 38 because there will be no romance at all and it could have been great. It read like a Roman orgy and this book isn't like the Orc Romance books. This book isn't for me.
I started to read this with very low expectations… and was completely surprised. Well-written, interesting story, hot smut… this was the best orc book I’ve read in a while, and my first by this author. The pacing was perfect?? Def recommend.
Searching for something to read and I can across this series. This is my first book by this author. It didn't disappoint. I have already downloaded the next book in the series.
