The legend of the dead forest is known only too well. It warns all to beware the moon…and of that which hunts beneath it. But now the legend has changed. The creatures are growing bolder, venturing away from their hidden lairs and into the towns and villages. Prince Vlad decides he must take action to stop the madness before his people begin to panic. Good is once again pitted against evil. The test of loyalty is taken to new heights as the epic adventures of Vlad and his small group of friends continues. New journeys will begin with the fate of the world teetering in the balance in the exciting sequel to DRACULA RISING.
Wonderful to step back into this author's mind with this novel. The Dracula he portrays is not like any other as far as character goes. The campaign continues in stopping the evil and putting a halt to the Order's diabolical plans. Love is also contained more prominently in this one which is a plus to me. Vladdie, his brother and the it would seem ever present Mcgreggor are the ones that must take action before it is too late. Danger awaits right from the beginning with what he thought would be his by birthright seems to snatched away by a madman. He soon puts a plan into action that puts it back into his hands the kingdom he vows to protect. This author takes you on a most thrilling ride through adventure and a fight to the finish or they will die trying. Someone who had believed gone to him through death appears to be not so dead after all who has claim to his heart. She lets him in on knowledge of being a father that comes quite a shock which all this fuels him more to win. For each encounter with evil he comes out the victor but at what cost some might say with also a event that occurs that in which he must make a decision concerning his brother that will be one of the hardest to face. Again I must say not your usual novel with this character that you will have come across, have even come across him portrayed in a paranormal romance series where even though in here their is a woman who has claimed his heart still not the same. That makes this novel and this author refreshing with this take on this character that has been written on many times before. This also contains a ending that I have also never seen successful but sought after by many inflicted with this vampirism. Though bittersweet at the end it is also the kind I was indeed most thrilled with the decisions made. Received a copy for a honest review.
Dracula Reigns is the riveting continuation of Jackson Stein’s Paranormal Thriller: Dracula Rising. The story picks up with Prince Vlad III visiting the forbidden dark forest to find out how to save his kingdom from impending destruction. A prophet foretells that Vlad will have five battles that he must undertake, but once he starts his quest, he must see it through to the end. Once Vlad realizes that the remaining members of the secret society that his father helped found are his enemies, the race is on: he has to either become the hunter or be hunted. If he becomes the hunter, he can save his kingdom from death and destruction; if he becomes the hunted, all will be forever lost. Vlad chooses to be the hunter and with that choice, he learns to accept the darkness as well as the effects he absorbs after each battle. How does the darkness affect Vlad as well as his family and friends that surround him? You have to read the book to find out.
I really like Mr. Stein’s style of writing. His descriptions and details enhanced by his ability to tell a story not only drew me in but kept me engaged from the first page to the last. As each scene flows into the next, I could not only envision the story, but I felt like I was right there. It is refreshing to see a different take on such an historic character.
For me, a great book is one that my thoughts drift to while in the process of reading and stays with me long after I have finished it. I am still thinking about both Dracula Rising and Dracula Reigns and can’t wait for the next installment in this epic series. If you like traditional stories about vampires, you will not be disappointed with this book or the series thus far. I was given an advance copy for an honest review that is my own.
I really liked this book. Jackson Stein has given readers a brand new take on the familiar Dracula legend with the continuing saga of young Prince Vlad. In Dracula Reigns, the King is gone and Vlad eagerly awaits the Council of Elders to appoint him to the throne. Of course nothing is ever that easy as Vlad begins a journey with his brother Radu to save the kingdom all the while hiding a powerful secret.
There are several familiar characters from the first book (Dracula Rising) and some really interesting new characters that add to the story in unexpected ways. This is not a gory/horror/bloody book with vampires leaping about biting people all the time. There is blood and violence but it's more the kind of creepy scary that sneaks up on you so you leave the lights on all night! Stein wraps up a few plot points but has left some tantalizing loose ends dangling for the next book and I can't wait to read more. I received a copy of the book-the review is my own.
I'm not really great with words and I'm never sure what to say in reviews for books I have read so excuse me for not being able to write a great review like others do, I'm a sculptor not a writer. So, loved it and it was pretty exciting right thru the whole book, unlike a good half of book one, which kind of had to flesh out the story before it could get to the exciting part. So if you are thinking of reading this book, I take it you read book one. This book is much better and I think the writing is better too, except fora few areas where it gets a bit over descriptive about the weather, which I get it but it was a bit much and kind of threw the flow and cadence off. Besides that it's a good 4.
This story picks up after the events in Dracula Rising, where Vlad III has killed his father and been empowered by the black mist. Vlad is now more determined than ever to rescue his people from the death and destruction brought about by the remaining vampire kings. The story moves along at a nice pace and although Dracula and Vlad have been regarded as evil brings, I found myself rooting for this main character and his brother as they defy all odds to complete their mission. As with the previous story, this represents a nice twist on the Vlad legend. Disclosure: I was provided an advance reading copy in exchange for an honest review.
I'm really enjoying this series. I thought the first book was great and this second one is just as good, I could not put it down or read it fast enough. I'm on the edge of my seat waiting for number three. I just know that it is going to be well worth waiting for!!
I received an e-ARC of this book for free from the Author in exchange for an honest review.
Once again Jackson Stein has drawn me into his imagination with his talent for bringing his characters to life. Throughout this book, the events and scenes were so wonderfully described, I had no choice but to see it through Mr. Stein's eye as the story unfolded.
I look forward to each new book as Vlad's story is revealed.
Dracula Reigns is the sequel to Dracula Rising. Creatures are growing bolder and going into towns and villages. Prince Vlad decides he must do something in order to protect his kingdom and all of his people. Jackson Stein paints a vivid picture of everything that happens in this book. It is a riveting read.
