Camilla Everwood is a down on her luck fairy, convinced she’ll never find love. Her short, petite, boyish frame keeps the men far away and she’s struggling to find enough clients to get her landscaping business off the ground. When she receives a summons from the Council, she believes her professional luck has changed—until she finds out she’s being forced to mate with a vampire.
Grayson Lockhart is a vampire determined to live out his life alone. He revealed his true-self once, a long time ago, and never wants to go through the pain of rejection again. Unfortunately, his large, empty home, combined with his lonely heart, interferes with his happiness. When he receives a summons from the Council, and finds out they’ve forced him to mate with a fairy, he knows better than to hope for anything more than someone to share his living space.
In order to sustain the numbers of all mythical beings, the Council, the governing body of the Mythical Realm, intervened and found prosperous matches for several of their subjects. Rather than create an act of treason punishable by death, Camilla and Grayson agree to accept their fate, despite their obvious differences and schedules. They quickly fall into an easy, comfortable routine, but old insecurities and a dangerous enemy threaten to keep them apart forever.
This is the third book in the Reluctant Mates Series, while it can be read as a stand alone, I would read the others too, because they are just so darn good! In this book we meet Camilla, she is a very down on her self and her life fairy. She thinks that men don't want her because she has what she calls a boyish figure. Her landscaping business is not going how she would like either. Then she gets a summons from the Council and thinks that they may need her services with decorating the place. She soon learns that what they really want is to tell her it is time for her to find a mate, or take the mate they have found for her. Grayson is a vampire that has had a bad reaction with a woman finding out his true nature, and he is determined to never do that to himself again. He lives alone, has a good job and finds his prey then leaves. When he gets the summons to go to the Council, his brother tells him that they have a mate for him and she is a fairy. Gray does not have high hopes for this mating, but he will listen to the council. As we follow their lives we see a relationship start to form. When Camilla is put in a tough situation will Gray be able to save her and himself? I never give spoilers, so you will have to read the book to find out what happens to this oddly paired couple! Well done Jane!
A Vampire's Light is Jane Wakely's third book in her Reluctant Mate series. Each book can be read as a stand alone book.
In A Vampire's Light, the Council pair's lonely vampire Grayson with fairy Camilla. Camilla is depressed because her ex-boyfriend from college just got married and her landscaping business isn't doing so well. Camilla is a petite fairy who is very insecure about what she considers her "boyish" looks.
Grayson is instantly attracted to Camilla but with some emotional baggage of his own to deal with, he and Camilla have a lot of misunderstandings in the beginning of their relationship.
This is definitely my favorite of the series so far. Both Grayson and Camilla are interesting characters and even though they are as different as night and day they are a perfect match for each other. Besides the romance, the story does have several small subplots that were interesting and I especially loved the epilogue. Highly recommend!
My Thoughts - 5 out of 5 Unicorns - I loved it!!! ***Received the ebook for an honest review
The cover is awesome and steamy, but I think Gray should be taller :) You don’t realize the significance of the cover until you read the story ;)
I stumbled onto Jane Wakely as an author in one of my facebook groups early this year. I proceeded to buy all of the books she had out at the time, and I read them :) I fall more in love with her stories each time though I think I love this series the best so far….though I know I’m going to love the Mount Brighton Cat series too because book 1 rocks.
This is a novella series, and it rocks. I love this world she has created with mythical beings and the Council. I sort of wish my HEA was this easy that someone could step in and pick my perfect mate, but I guess I will just keep on wishing…lol Jane makes it so easy to fall in love with her characters. Cam and Gray are both just awesome, but there were definitely some moments where I wanted to smack them both and say really because of the trouble the two of them caused each other with their silly thoughts. I loved the epilogue best, but you have to read to see what I mean. Jane’s stories are quick reads and give you your paranormal fix quick. It always has lots of action and drama to keep you entertained. She is definitely one of my favorite authors.
I highly recommend this series to my paranormal lovin’ friends because you will love this series as much as I do.

'A Vampire's Light' by author Jane Wakely. It is the third book in the Reluctant Mate series.
In this book the Council pairs vampire Grayson with fairy Camilla. Camilla is little upset that her ex-boyfriend from college has just got married and that her friends had gone without giving her a second thought. Her landscaping business is not doing well and she's feeling down. Camilla is petite and very insecure about her looks as she classes herself as having a boyish figure and unattractive to men.
Grayson is a lonely vampire who had his heart broken by the woman he loved. At least he thought he loved until he sets his eyes on Camilla. He likes what he sees and is instantly attracted to her. They get off to a rocky start with misunderstandings from both Camilla and Gray. They struggle to get their relationship started but when they do they realise they are perfect for each other.
I enjoyed everything about this story and the fact it was a little different to most vampire stories. I loved the storyline and the characters. It had humor and emotion(there were sad bits). This book has definately got to be my favourite in this series so far. I really, really loved it!

Another great read from Jane Wakely, I loved it. These are my goto books all of them. The Reluctant Mate Series is a very good read as series or a standalone. The council run the paranormal world but they are fewer numbers, so it's their job to match their singles up to rebuild the population. In this one we meet Camilla a fairy & Grayson a vampire. Both have major relationship issues to deal with & both are the exact opposite, light & dark. Can this unlikely pair be a mated pair or will things go from bad to worse, you will just have to read it to find out.
great story. grabs you and draws youbin, could feel everything the characters were feeling. another great story of two people that needed each other but didn't know how much till danger threatened their lives. Eagerly await the next book.
Solid story for this quick read. The only downside was the quick intro and defeat of the villains. Based on their bad behavior I would have liked to see the bad guys punished a lot more...especially the ex-boyfriend.
I just finished Vampires Light and what a great read. You get a sense of humor with the character and the eroticism when they finally come together. Don't miss out on this great read
