This beautiful narration of the author's growing love and understanding of his master, a uniquely simple yet spiritually profound man. P. Rajagopalachari (born in 1927) was raised in the rich cultural heritage of the East, although educated extensively in the Western tradition. As he approached the questions of life with an occidental sense of doubt and a scientific mind, he was stunned to find this simple unworldly man who held the answers to human existence. Thus began an unparalleled relationship built on the wonder of the Diven and the essense of pure love. Sahaj Marg (the Natural PAth) is a system of practical training in spirituality of the Shri Ram Chandra Mission. It is in essence the well-known Raja Yoga (yoga of the mind) remodeled and simplified to suit the needs of modern day life. Its goal is inner perfection - God realization. According to the teaching of P. Rajagopalachari, God is infinite, yet simple and therefore the way to reach Him must be as simple. By proper regulation of hte mind through meditation, under the practical guidance and support of a spiritual master, one can evolve to the highest. This support is made possible through the use of Pranahuti (yogic transmission). It is defined as transmission of Divine energy for the transformation of the self. This transmission is capable of being felt by anyone who practices this system for a brief period. The nnes to live a simple and pious life as a family member is encouraged in Sahaj Marg. One is asked to accept the problems and difficulties of daily life as Divine blessings, as this environment is considered ideal for spiritual development. There are no fees charged to practice this system and all are welcome, the sole qualification being willingness to participate.,
The author has beautifully portrayed his life incidents of his noble Love between him (disciple) and his Master. It's a great revealing of the essence and beauty of Pure Love. The author with his soulful expressions tells us about his growing love and understanding of his Master, a uniquely simple yet spiritually profound man.
In his narration he tells: "Here he was the Master in every sense of the term, prepared to prove his contention or point by practical demonstration rather than by verbose discussion. I had a demonstration of this trait in him when someone asked about a particular spiritual state. Master smiled and answered "I cannot explain it to you but, if your samskaras will permit it, I can give you the experience of that condition."......
While reading this book I really liked the revealing idea about love when he writes: "Love is a Godly or Divine thing, and therefore not to be spurned. Love is to be diverted to its proper and natural object, God! What the human individual is required to do is to divert his mind so that the love in the heart can be diverted to its real goal."...... Every time when I read this lovely book it reveals new and ennobling meanings!!!! A GREAT & UNIQUE LOVE STORY:)
This is a great book that gives an account of my master or spiritual guides relationship with his own master Sri Ram Chandra of Shahjahanpur, affectionately known as Babuji. This book is amazing in a way because of its simple purity and the quality of unconditional love that exudes from the words. It is said that the words alone of a great master have a spiritual quality that can benefit us. Well these are just some of my thoughts on the book. If you really want to find out more, go to this web site.( www.srcm.org ) I didn't even know that it had been published by a company where it is so easily accessible. Read and enjoy, as master has said.
Part One deals with P. Rajagopalachari's Master and his ways of living with respect to Our Personal Environment, Tolerance, Duty, and Love. This was a very nice section to re-read, having read this before about a decade ago, and the stuff of it being extremely useful in daily application. 5-star to this one, no doubt about that!
Part Two deals with P. Rajagopalachari's Master's Teachings and Works. This section dealt with "The Way of the Spirit", "Approaching Reality", the Role of the Guru (Teacher, Master), on Spiritual Experiences, and "The Gift of Liberation". Although having some interesting and valid points, I could not at many times come to agree with what was written here, and finally seemed to me that this part was however, wonderful for a non-intellectual personality of sorts, the common-man of the masses.
The book is written in extremely plain and lucid style, easy to understand, and worth a read at least once. And especially moreso for the First Part.
This book is written by Chariji ( Sri Parthasarathi Rajagopalachari ) about his guru Babuji(Shri Ram Chandra of Shahjahanpur) . The first half is entirely about Babuji, the reading experience creates a profound effect of love in our heart, a clear picture of Babuji is visible in this portion of the book. The second half gives more emphasis on the concepts in Heartfullness meditation or Sahaj Marg. The author mentions his experiences with Babuji which are answers to the questions in the mind of the seekers. This book is a must read for those practice Heartfullness mediation.
First half gives ethical and moral direction to life. Especially, the chapter named 'Duty' changed my whole perception of social responsibilities. Although, fourth chapter is named 'Tolerance', it teaches cheerful acceptance. Looking at master's way of life, it brings a feel that we should inculcate the same in ours and become like them.
Second half mostly deals with higher aspects of the abhayasa or sahaj marg.
I found lot of meaningful and valuable information about a real spiritual master. The author was a disciple to his Master when he wrote this book. There is a great clarity of thought and honesty in the ideas expressed in this book. I humbly suggest all to read this book with an attitude of open mindedness. It is worth reading.
Simple and Brilliant. Chariji explains his relationship with Babuji so well and in doing so also explains the heartfulness system. For a abhyasi this is a book must reading.
I have never been a huge fan of reading books about spirituality or non-fiction, but this book instigated a new perspective and my way of thinking about certain things. Wouldn't call this a quick read as I savoured every word and processed Master's teachings. This book is backed by experience and shows a very interesting lifestyle.
Very deep and yet simple. Some highlights for me were - master is really a sweeper; poor people often afford more charity; change is necessary even in abhyas; have an unquestioning obedience to master's instructions; observe your subconscious resistance; meditation makes you an empty vessel in which you receive God's blessing; if he loves a man he is a man. Beautiful thoughts and humble writing.
This book written by Shri Parthasarathi Rajagopalachari is a loving tribute by a disciple to his spiritual Master. It contains personal experiences of the author with his spiritual Master Shri Ram Chandra Maharaj of Shahjahanpur, affectionately called as Babuji by his disciples. The book explains many essential concepts of spirituality with clarity and simplicity.
Journey of a disciple to the highest goal one can attain in spiritual realm under his beloved master. This books teaches us about the qualities one must search while taking someone as our guru. Today, trusting someone is a difficult task, but this book guides you about a quality that a spiritual guide must have, as the author talks about his beloved master as well as the organisation Shri Ram Chandra Mission.
some people say face is the index of the mind, and here the book reveals "heart is the index of the soul".after reading ...my outlook towards humanity which i used to see like hypocrite changed... i started observing...speaking from my inner being...which is the revealation
The book was all about the perspective of Chariji about his Master Overall It was good But In SomeplaceS I found It conflicting with my thought process. Overall I agree with the Idea
Excellent book from a personal experience of a disciple meeting the spritual guide and how it helped in his spiritual journey. Highly recommend to everyone to read this book.
