After a college party goes awry, five key players mysteriously end up missing under unknown circumstances. Come to find out, things turned tricky when some cursed punch accidentally got on not one, but all five players. Iris wonders if her spell-happy bestie has something to do with it, and she's handed the answer in the form of a packaged, discount item from the adult store.
Unfortunately for Lachlan, he's been turned into a buzz buzz toy following the wrath of one very pissed off college girl. Now he not only has to convince a wallflower to use him, but he still needs to learn if he can talk in this form along the way.
When Iris learns the ridiculous fine print for the curse, she'll have to decide if she can forgive Lachlan for little more than being a victim of proximity. Once the cursed hockey player learns what happens to her behind closed doors, choosing to forgive him when he's so close to her truths might be more than either of them bargained for.
A cursed hockey player, sentient object romance that's spicy and strange all wrapped in one.
This was such a fun short read. I liked the relationship between Lachlan and Iris. Once everything came out, it was great seeing how they went from basically strangers to something more. I loved that he was there for her when she needed him.
Lachlan and Iris relationship becomes something more than two strangers. Cora, Iris, and Londyn are at a party, and when the 5 jocks think they won teasing the girls, Cora puts a spell on them and turned them into vibes. Iris buys a new vibe, and it happens to be Lachlan, and Cora wants to know if anything weird happens, and Iris is kinda lost into what she means. This is a good, fast-paced book, and it will have u chuckling a lil the back and forth banter between Iris and Lachlan.

Vibes is the 1st book in the For Her Pleasure Series by H.N. DeFore. This was such a buzzing fun witchy read. It's not a dark read, but it's got a a little bit of dark content but it's full of more laughs and spice than anything else.
This was such a different read I've read this Halloween season. This had me giggling wishing I could go back to my high school days and curse some of the people I called my own enemies, maybe just not in the same way. Lol.
H.N. DeFore wrote such a fun witchy read and it will have you giggling and wanting to read the next book in the series as soon as possible. It really is a great Halloween read with just the right amount of spice and lots of laughter. And I can't say it enough that it's not as dark as some of the other Halloween reads that's out there and that's so refreshing.
H.N. DeFore did a stunning job with the character development, each character is flesh out, given room to grow throughout the novella, and they are given such amazing character arcs.
If you are looking for a fun witchy quick read then Vibes is the novella you've been searching for.
Vibes ~H.N. DeFore The inaugural blast in the For Her Pleasure Series hits like a hexed lightning bolt - witchy mayhem, steamy surprises, and a curse with very intimate footnotes. Vibes is the paranormal romance buzz you’ll be chasing for months.
Iris never wanted to be that girl at a college rager, yet here she stands: ditched by besties Cora and Londyn the second they cross the threshold, sweet-talked by her sleazy ex, and now dripping in neon punch that turns her dress into cling-wrap. Salvation? Swiping hockey hunk Lachlan’s hoodie. Escape plan? Foiled when he corners her with a devilish deal: return the sweatshirt and bolt, or stick around and “hang.” Guess which option she’s stuck with when the soaked fabric is her only shield.
Cue kitchen chaos. Enter Flynn -another hockey player - and Cora, who’s had enough. One flung bowl of punch later, five jocks are sticky, Cora’s chanting a rhyme that sounds suspiciously like a curse, and the trio of BFF’s are sprinting for the exit amid howls of laughter.
Next day: retail therapy. Londyn drags Iris to Cora’s “toy” shop, insisting self-care is non-negotiable. Iris caves, snagging a clearance-bin gem to shut them up. Cora’s protests? Ignored. Big mistake.
That night, Iris fires up her new acquisition … and it talks. In Lachlan’s voice. Oh. My. Goddess. What did Cora’s punch-flinging rhyme actually do? And why is Iris’s battery-operated boyfriend now demanding a rematch?
DeFore’s character game is, as always, elite - every player pops with quirks, heart, and laugh-out-loud banter. You’ll root for Iris’s hot-mess glow-up, cackle at the overall antics, and maybe blush at the vibes (yes, plural). Pacing? Razor-sharp. Prose? Cinematic and electric - you’re in the scene, not just reading it.
Vibes is unputdownable witchy spice with a curse that’ll leave you buzzing. Pre-order now - drops November 7, 2025. Your TBR (and nightstand) will thank you.
I would like to thank H.N. DeFore for the opportunity to Alpha/Beta/ARC her upcoming release of Vibes – A For Her Pleasure Book 1. As always, all opinions and reviews are of my own volition. I have not been promised any compensation, current or future, by the author or publisher for a fair and honest review.
Who is looking for a fun read for this season? This is def the one you need to have a buzz reading!!!!
Not really dark but a little witchy, a bit spicy and a lot of laughs!!! (Has some dark content as well).
Enemies to Lovers Hockey Romance Sentient object Romance Revenge Unconventional Shifter Romance Who Hurt You Girl Power Spell Gone wrong
This was the perfect read on a rainy day!!!! needed this. It is so different than anything I have read and even the revenge parts held comedic relief. Def. Get this one and try not to get bewitched..... I know some of us wish we could curse some people like this!!! lol
Please everyone go get this and let Haley know what an amazing read it is!! Seriously such a fun Halloween / witchy read with the perfect spice.
Thank you Haley and Twisted Chaos PR for allowing me to just have a blast reading this ARC…. I can’t say enough about how much I enjoyed this absolute bullet!!!! 😂💋
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ This was a fun, spicy, quick read. I really wasn’t sure what to expect considering the blurb even had me wondering what to expect but I was pleasantly surprised by the laughs and spice found throughout the book. While touching on some tougher/darker topics this was still lower angst. Lachlan and Iris together were perfect even if their start was rough. Can’t wait to read the rest of the series.
What a great little read!!! This one definitely had me going until the last page! We have spice, revenge, comedy, and a whole lot of buzzzzzzing. Definitely one you need to experience!
This was such a hilarious read. A spell gone wrong, turns Lachlan into a s3x toy, and to break it, he has to give Iris an 0rg*sm then an apology. But what did he do wrong?
Such a brilliant short read, with hilarious internal dialogues as well as character development.

What happens when you wrong a person who ends up being able to cast spells? This story follows Iris and Lachlan and what happens when they are stuck in the middle of a conflict. Iris is at a party the hockey team is throwing with 2 of her friends, Lachlan is one of the hockey players throwing the party. 5 hockey players and the 3 friends are in the kitchen when something goes wrong and Cora chants something that makes everyone laugh. When Iris and her other friend go visit Cora at work, which is a "toy store", they pick up some things. Iris gets a toy that she is hoping will help her forget her possessive ex that can't get the hint that they're done. Iris gets some wine and her new toy to relax, all of a sudden when she's playing her toy turns into Lachlan. They then have to confront Cora about what happened and figure out how to break the spell. When Iris ends up in a tough spot with her ex, she has to depend and trust that Lachlan will help her and not hurt her. While figuring out how to break the spell, they end up falling for each other. They both learn things about each other and find out that they were what each other needed. There's so much more to this situation and I can't wait to read what caused all this to happen.
Who doesn’t like a sentient object romance?! We fucking love them <3
With this story you not only have sentient object romances, but now a hockey romance as well *big eyes* WHAT?!
This was our first hockey romance, and we might be sports romance girlies now. Let’s be clear, it’s like a *wink* *wink* sports romance. They maybe play hockey like twice in the book max LOL.
The story is mostly focused on the sentient romance part, which again, we love.
This is also a college romance, so the hockey is college hockey and not like the big leagues, whatever that's called NHL?
Alright, Iris is the FMC and she’s like, got the She’s All That, nerdy girl vibe going. Think alt girl. She seems to be friends with like, the hot girls or like, the cool girls. Not really sure how to describe Cora other than she’s a literal witch *big eyes*
Iris is coming out of a very toxic maybe even borderline abusive relationship with a football player maybe. We actually see some of this in the story. We don’t see see it, but we come pretty close, so keep that in mind as a potential trigger warning. Like, we see maybe why Iris might be why she is regarding her body and sexual partners.
Lachlan is a hockey player and he is one of five, yeah, five hockey players who gets turned into vibrators. Yup! That’s their fate LOLs.
From book one we learn that Cora, who works at an adult toy store has been handing out these sentient vibrators to people. Almost in a kind of match maker type setting. Yeah, not sure how we feel about Cora. She's kind of a lot…I wonder if she’ll get her own book.
This is a HEA story which means Lachlan and Iris figure themselves out, but there is soooo much drama before they get there. I mean, remember they are college kids, wich we are both glad we are not college kids, but also damn! College kids have dramatic lives that also seem fun.
Oh, not sure if this needs to be said, but this is a smut book so there is boinking in all forms.
This is book one, so go read it so you can read book two when it comes out.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
I wasn't sure what to really expect going into it but boy am I glad I did read this because OMG I'm not usually for rom-com inless it's Dark...but I was HERE for htis book.

Tropes 🌶 Friends to Lovers 🌶 Hockey Romance 🌶 Sentient object 🌶 Spell gone wrong 🌶 Unconventional Shifter Romance
This is a fun cursed Hockey Romance. It's a quick, steamy sentinel short story. The book follows Lachlan and Iris. Lachlan is a hockey player. He doesn’t really see Iris. Iris goes to class and tries not to draw attention to herself but her ex boyfriend keeps stalking her. When a curse goes wrong, five of the hockey guys end up as buzz buzz toys. Iris unknowing takes one home and gets a surprise of her life when Lachlan suddenly appears.
This is a good and funny read but it deals with deeper issues as well. Lachlan protects Iris and with all the time they spend together he gets to know the real Iris. With the time Iris spends with Lachlan she learns that he is not like her ex and there is more to him.
I really enjoyed the book and hope we get to read the other players stories as well
Thank you @twistedchaospr and @hndeforeauthor for sending me this book in exchange for my honest review.
First off, big fat THANK YOU for Twisted Chaos and H.N. for giving me the pleasure of reviewing this before initial release ♡
Did you ever wonder what your vibrator could say if it had a voice? In a twisty version that reminds me of Beauty And The Beast in a way just a bit more witchy and magical (and of course modern) comes a new take on sentient object romances.
The dynamic between Lachlan and Iris definitely wasn't hot off the press which honestly I liked. It felt good to see that it wasn't an insta-love type thing - Just a get me off moment. The feelings they had to all the other parties and not placing any blame on each other. But when they do get in the feels - THE CHEMISTRY. I can just feel it vibrating off the pages, pun intended. How it all came to be and setting up for future books in the series and it makes me wonder how the journey is for the other characters in the book.
Definitely a must read if you are into the weird and unusual non-being type of romances ♡♡
Haley… omg! 🤣 This was such a fun revenge story. I’d been waiting (and bugging Haley 😅) to make sure it was a full story before signing up since part of it had been in an anthology before. It’s like The Princess and the Frog except Lach was cursed and turned into a sex toy! 🤣 Definitely a 5 ⭐️ read. Haley absolutely nailed the revenge spice (pun intended). The spice was fluffy, but there was a bit of slow burn too, especially for a novella. Lach was every bit the knight in shining armor, even while still cursed, and there were definite touch her and 💀 vibes. There was a little bit of hockey in there too! Overall, it was such a good read, especially considering I’m still in a slump.
This is my honest opinion for the ARC I received. Huge thanks to Haley and Twisted Chaos PR for the opportunity!
I didn’t know what to expect with a sentient object romance, but I really enjoyed this fast, whimsical, and quirky read!
THOUGHTS 💭 🏒 What an unexpected situation Lachlan, our MMC, gets himself into - he gets caught up in a curse (meant for his friend) and has been turned into a vibrator. 😳 🏒 Our FMC Iris was NOT concerned enough that one minute she was using a regular ol’ vibrator and the next it turned into a guy she knew and disliked. 😅😅 🏒 I love that the characters acknowledge how weird this situation is; they don’t try to normalize this curse and what’s happening to Lachlan; they’re just trying to figure out how to break it. 🏒 This little novella brings the spice and has some fun twists and turns.
Thanks so much to H.N. DeFore and Twisted Chaos PR for the ARC of this novella!
This was a very comical short read that really was not like the others! You've heard of monster smut sure, you've seen shrek.... But have you seen a cursed hockey team doomed to be turned into sex toys? Didn't think so 😂
I very much did enjoy that there was actually a *gasps* PLOT included in this short tale of smuttery, with a hero, growth, villain, and redemptive qualities to boot!
Its a fun, quick read, well worth a few hours of entertainment!!
Tropes included but not limited to Hockey player x Wallflower Curse Sentient Object Past abuse
Thank you Twisted Chaos PA and H.N DeFore for an advanced e-copy of this book!
This a fun, short read, a little witchy vibes and a whole lot of buzz buzz vibes too 😂😂
What happens when a hockey player crosses a witch 👀 he gets himself and some of his friends cursed 😂 It’s probably the funniest curse I’ve seen and the most gratuitous 😉 Poor Iris was caught in the chaos on accident, but it turned out to be very beneficial!
Defs had some funny moments in there, it is quick paced, as any novella is, but still has relationship development too! Loved how Iris rolled with the punches 😂 there were no major freak outs, she just rolled with what she got!
The spice! There is quite a bit, given the nature of the curse 😂 some slight control by FMC, use of adult toys, and a whole lot of fun!
If you’re in the mood for something fun, spicy, and a little bit magical, this one’s for you! College life meets chaos when Iris, just trying to survive a fraternity party, ends up with spilled punch on her dress—and crossing paths with Lachlan, a hockey player whose hoodie she borrows on her way out. What starts as an awkward encounter turns into pure mayhem when a scorned witch’s curse leaves five hockey players turned into… sex toys.
It’s a wild premise that somehow works! The story is fast-paced, full of humor, and doesn’t take itself too seriously. While I would have loved a bit more character development and backstory in a few spots, it’s still a fun, quick read that’ll make you laugh (and blush) along the way.
Lachlan and a few of the other star hockey players had a prank ready but what they did not expect was Cora. Cora is a witch. She casts a spell that turns Lachlan and the other four guys into toys. Iris becomes the new owner of one particular toy that happens to house Lachlan.
Imagine Iris's extreme surprise when one moment she is alone in her bedroom and the next appears Lachlan. Once you get to know Lachlan a little better and you realize that what he and Iris form together is genuine feelings, he is a good guy. Not to mention that he is someone handy to have in the bedroom.
If you are looking for a quickie, fun, steamy read; you will want to pick up a copy of this book. Iris gets her groove on!
This was my first sentient object book and I truly didn’t know what to expect.
What a fun easy read this was! I was cackling from chapter one!
When a witch gets a little too fed up with a hot shot hockey player, she sends a little curse. And yes she turns them into a variety of sex toys 😂
This is book one of her standalone series and I can’t wait to get my hands on the rest.
Lachlan is the cutest golden retriever with a side of touch her an 💀. I loved Iris and watching her come out her shell. Oh and the spice was spicing. It was a slow burn but once it’s there 🔥
If you want a comedic short read I 💯 recommend.
Thank you HN Defore and Twisted Chaos PR for the opportunity to ARC this. As always my reviews are honest and 100% my own! 🖤
Vibes was such a good read. There are barely any books by H.N Defore that I dislike. If anything, my biggest dislikes are, some of them just aren't long enough! Lol.
But Vibes was a a great read for a novella. It wasn't rushed. Everything was covered, well, mostly everything. I'd have liked to have known what was going on with Cora and Flynn, but I imagine they'll come up again... right?? Anyway, I loved the dynamic between Lachlan and Iris. It wasn't as spicy as I thought it was going to be, despite... you know. He was sentient vibrator for most of the story, but that didn't take away from the story at all.
I can't wait for what the rest of this series holds! Thank H.N Defore and Twisted Chaos PR for giving me the chance to read this book.
Vibes was a weird little read, and at times a bit confusing. I didn't really like how the story started, the 'all men are pigs and deserve to suffer' theme underlying the plot was a bit on the nose, as was Cora's character. While I have no doubt that future stories will justify her behavior, so far it felt cruel and out of place.
Iris and Lochlan, however, were very sweet together. While the relationship was super fast to developed, and the story is too short to give proper context, still there's a nice character arc, and a HFN ending.
Overall a quick, enjoyable read, with some nice spice and some deeper themes that, in my opinion, deserved a lot more.
When I found out that one only favorite authors was writing her very first sentient object romance I was ecstatic! And let me tell you what… she nailed it! I absolutely adored these characters! The FMC is a total babe …even if she doesn’t see herself that way. The MMC is a walking god of a hockey player but also a total softie for this FMC. I loved how despite everything they found this comfort in one another. And the way the FMC managed to gain her confidence and the MMC helped her shine… it was perfect! Their chemistry is so hot! And their banter is so entertaining! I cannot wait to find out more about these other “toys”!
Thank you to Twisted Chaos PR and the author for a copy of this book.
Girl meets boy at a party. Boy pisses off a witch, gets cursed, and turns into a buzz buzz toy. Girl unknowingly buys boy. Spicy times follow as they try to break the curse.
Vibes by H.N. DeFore is one of the stranger and more entertaining paranormal rom-coms I’ve read in a while. The setup is peak chaos, you've got cursed hockey players, magical mishaps, and a heroine who handles the bizarre situation fairly well under the circumstances.
Iris and Lachlan’s chemistry is sharp and playful, and the banter had me laughing out loud more than once. There’s plenty of spice, but it’s balanced with humor and some mystery solving to delve into how they got into this situation.
Vibes is book one in the For Her Pleasure Quartet.
This was a hilarious and spicy read. Lachlan has been turned into a buzz buzz toy and the only way for him to become human again is for the owner of the toy to have an "O". The humour upon discovering how to break the curse, quickly turns into some spiciness between Lachlan and Iris. Lachlan has made some mistakes in the past, but he quickly makes up for everything with his interactions with Iris. He becomes protective and caring towards her.
This story set us up for the future books in the series and I am super excited to read them all.
So I had a lot of fun with this one. I’d never read a sentient object book before. This book had me chuckling a lot. It was a quick read for when you just need something short, funny and spicy.
A witch was upset with a hockey player so she turned him and his friends into sex toys and then her best friend unknowingly purchased him and the awkward good times begin here. 😆
I loved our two main characters and the way their relationship grows. I will definitely be checking out the rest of the series when they come out.
Thank you HN DeFore and Twisted Chaos PR for the arc. All thoughts and opinions are my own. 💖
Vibes is a fast, chaotic, and delightfully steamy quick read. It leans fully into its wild premise, a cursed hockey player turned magical object, and somehow makes it both funny and surprisingly sweet. The chemistry between the Lachlan and Iris is playful and charming, the pacing is brisk, and the mix of witchy magic and spicy absurdity gives the story a unique charm.
It’s not deep or grounded, but it is entertaining, bold, and perfect for readers who enjoy romance with humor, heat, and a touch of magical mischief.
Thank you to Twisted Chaos team for choosing me as an ARC reader. It was definitely one that kept me engaged the entire time.
My first read by H.N. DeFore—and definitely not my last. This book has it all: a quirky curse, forced proximity, a sprinkle of hockey, “touch her and ☠️” energy, and just the right amount of 🌶️ spice balanced with humor. The writing is smooth and addictive, making it impossible to put down. The male lead? Cursed into becoming a buzz buzz toy (yes, that kind)—which sets the stage for some hilarious and surprisingly heartfelt moments. If you're into spicy rom-coms with a twist, this one’s a must-read.
Look, this time of year sometimes you just want something quick, fun and quirky and Vibes gives it to you in spades.
After a collage party takes a bit of a witchy turn, Iris becomes the owner of a new mini toy, who happens to also be the hockey teams left winger, Lachlan. Now they have to just break the curse.
It was a great little Halloween treat, the chemistry between Iris and Lachlan had my kindle really buzzing ;)
I'm primed and ready to find out what happened to the rest of the team now!
Thank you H.N. DeFore and Twisted Chaos PR for giving me the opportunity to ARC read this for you.
