Caitlin K. Murphy’s Corruption is a masterclass in how to write a police procedural that feels authentic, gripping, and deeply human. As a retired officer with 27 years on the force, Murphy doesn’t just tell a story—she immerses you in the world of law enforcement. Every shift schedule, radio protocol, and tactical decision rings true, creating a backdrop that elevates the tension and stakes of the plot.

I’ll be honest: police procedurals aren’t typically my cup of tea. Too often, they rely on tired formulas. But Corruption defies those expectations. Amanda Greene, the series’ protagonist, is a Marine vet and MMA-trained detective who navigates a web of corruption with intelligence, discipline, and a refreshing lack of cliché bravado. The story’s strength lies in its authenticity—both in its procedural elements and in its exploration of betrayal, loyalty, and the cost of justice.

What sets this book apart is Murphy’s ability to weave action and emotional depth without sacrificing either. The twists are organic, the characters are fully realized, and the tension never feels forced. For me Corruption was a revelation: a thriller that respects its audience and delivers on every level. Five stars, without hesitation.

A gripping thriller with substance

Corruption immediately pulled me in. Amanda Greene is a fascinating protagonist – smart, brave, and deeply human. The story is layered, suspenseful, and full of surprises. I especially appreciated how themes like corruption and abuse of power are seamlessly woven into the plot without slowing it down.

You can tell the author put a lot of thought and research into the book – it stands out from the crowd of formulaic thrillers. Even though it's Book 2, I had no trouble following the story. That said, I’m definitely going back to read Book 1 now!

Highly recommended for fans of smart, well-written thrillers with a strong female lead.

Corruption continues the Amanda Greene series with strong tension and plenty of twists to keep the story moving. The stakes feel higher in this installment, and the unfolding events kept me turning pages to see how everything would play out.

I love how the characters continue to develop while the plot deepens. There’s a good balance between action and emotional weight, which makes the story feel more immersive. For readers following the series, this is a satisfying continuation that builds on the momentum of the first book and leaves you eager to see where the story goes next.

A fast-paced, gritty thriller that never lets up. Amanda Greene is a strong and believable lead—tough, smart, but also human in her struggles—and that makes the story even more engaging. The mix of action, suspense, and betrayal kept me turning the pages, and the tension feels authentic throughout. A gripping read for anyone who enjoys crime stories with depth and a fearless female protagonist.

I love how the author makes police work so understandable and breaks down what is TV stuff and what is real. Also...I know Gina isnt the main character but she is my favorite. I loved the plot and spring at the end was great. It would make a good read out loud for older kids also because it really was clean action.

Caitlin K. Murphy’s “Corruption” is Book 2 in her Amanda Greene series. Amanda is an Oakville detective, Marine combat vet, and mixed martial arts expert, who uses her advanced skillset to effectively fight crime.

In this second edition of the saga, Amanda Green battles a criminal plot in her own police department. The plot gets juicy when organized crime is tied in.

As in “Ponytail,” her first Amanda Greene novel, “Corruption” is well-written with great detail given to character descriptions and development. The book’s plot and subplots are also well developed with Amanda’s background and interests skillfully woven into the book’s dialogue, and standard police procedures well described as they occur in the book.

“Corruption” is fast-paced, interesting, and entertaining. It should be a big hit with fans of detective stories, strong female characters, and detailed storylines.
