Jessica Cage delivers a hilariously wild and spicy adventure in I Accidentally Hooked Up with a Vampire 🧛🏽‍♂️🔥. As someone who typically isn’t a fan of rom-coms (because they usually miss the funny mark for me 😒), this one absolutely hit the spot 🎯! If you’re after a book with equal parts spice 🌶️, plot 📚, and perfectly timed humor 😂, this is definitely for you.

One of my favorite parts was the fun character crossover from I Accidentally Summoned a Demon Boyfriend 😈. We get to see Rayna as the fierce FMC 💁🏽‍♀️, her quirky blue pet Piko 🐾💙, and the ever-helpful witch Likosa 🔮. Even though these books are standalones, they are interconnected with recurring characters, so I highly recommend reading them in order to get the full experience 📖✨.

My favorite character?
Without a doubt, Maverick 🐈‍⬛🐉 he’s just too lovable and chaotic not to mention.

Here are some standout quotes that had me cackling 😂:
• “That’s what happens when you’re not a girl’s girl! May her lace never melt and her scalp always itch! 👩🏽‍🦱🔥”
• “Walk in there with your head high, but not too cocky because, you know, melanin ✊🏽✨.”

Highly recommend I Accidentally Hooked Up With A Vampire if you’re in the mood for a vampire romance set in a modern world, with a FMC you will fall in love with, along with an MMC that will make YOU SWOON. I laughed, blushed, and swooned all at the same time while reading this book. The pacing was spot on, the romance felt tangible, the spice was HOT, the characters you couldn’t help but absolutely love, and this book is an overall really good time. Also, the friend group that Whitney has. 10/10, would want to be friends with all of them in real life.

I went into this book completely blind, I just saw a rec video on tiktok, and I’m glad I read this because it’s exactly what I needed.

I did give it 4/5 stars because I did real like the pacing was off at times, and it could have flowed just a little bit better BUT OTHER THAN THAT. LOVED. You need to read this immediately.

Also one of my fave characters was definitely Maverick. Reminded me of my Maine coon and it’s just hilarious.

Jessica, first let me say girl, I’m super impressed. Your growth as a writer is fantastic. I read this book and you turned the heat all the way up: the writing, the jokes, the detail, the storytelling you did your thing. Book two in this series has me ready to preorder book three right now.

Yes—vampires. Like, did you hear me? VAMPIRES. So if you don’t enjoy vampire stories, this probably isn’t for you. But for me? I loved the paranormal romance vibe you delivered. It’s honestly hard to break down every single point because the whole experience was just fun.

The spice was a solid 2🌶️, and the chemistry between the characters was so good I was rooting for them the entire time. Usually I’m not even a big vampire-book girly, but this one was genuinely entertaining. The use of blood and there’s a lot of it worked really well for the story instead of feeling like shock value, and it just added to the atmosphere and tension in the best way.

Verdict: Girl, thank you. This was a fun, sexy romance I couldn’t put down. Am I reading book three? Darn straight I am.

-Ouuu girl you get right into the story and I love it. Jessica’s writing truly has you feeling like you’re in her head.
-Whitney is a boss ass realtor and her life imploaded which truly made me feel seen as a black women in her 20s even tho she’s in her 30s
-Mr.James sounds so fine he gives BDE baby and I’m all about it.
-the spice was perfection and we got into it very quickly which I was not expecting but I’m not complaining because slayyyyy
-this book had me intrigued but also cackling
-Whitney is straight forward, if I had a Domino James I’d probably do the same lol
-Wow this spice is an all you can eat buffet 🤪😂🫶🏾
-I loved their connection and banter , I love that he sees and understands her

I love the opening. As a Black 6’2 plus size corporate baddie I see myself in the FMC which is very unusual for me.

There’s a minor breaking of the 3rd wall I’m enjoying. It feels like I’m on FaceTime with a home girl for real.

It moved a bit fast in the beginning but limited space I understand.

Vampires, Aliens, hunters, witches, demons?! What don’t this book have?!

This book made me chuckle out loud!

It does feel like it moved a bit fast in the middle and it’s hard to keep up. I had to re-read a chapter twice because there was just so much happening.

So glad to see my girl reappear!

This was a fun romcom with a woman stepping into her power. Whitney was a successful businesswoman who had it all come crashing down, but luckily had a sexy vampire to catch her. I loved that she was confident in her body, but mentioned the therapy she went through to get to that point. Domino was morally gray and intense. He was all in from moment one. I would have loved more on page getting to know each other.

Rsted it 4 at first but changed it to a 5 stars as I keep thinking about it. I jumped straight onto book two as demons makes me uncomfortable but loved every minute of this book. Its a romance and a spicy one but the friendships and the girls was the big highlight of the book. I read the blurb on the third and it didn't sound like it was about the friend group again but im sure I will enjoy it as well.

So I actually DNF'd this around 83% ... I know. I know. You all are thinking I should've finished it, but man, I struggled to make it that far. It took me from the time to book dropped until today to get as far as I did, and I just started to get bored. Keep in mind, I read an almost 800-page book in less than 36 hours, and that's between work, student life, being a mom, and a wife. It's all about engagement. The beginning starts off decent, and somewhere after the best friend being a vampire slayer, it just fell flat. It's pretty much the same storyline as the first book. Ehh ... maybe next time.

The beginning? Wild and spicy and SO much fun! The middle? Still a good time. The ending? I was bored. Part of the problem was the author kept telling me what was happening without describing it. “He did this. He did this. Then he did this.” Like... I need more than that! It was funny and unserious and mostly entertaining, and I’ll read others in the series, but they’re not new favs. The audiobooks narrator is amazing, though!

Thank you to the author for an E-ARC! Omg! Wow! I am obsessed with this series so much, this story is laugh out loud funny, and filled with lovable characters, hilarious FMC, lovable and caring friendships, sexy / hot dominant MMC, and a fast paced plot that keeps you on your toes!!! I thoroughly enjoyed this so much and I flew through this so quickly because it was just as diabolical , unserious, action packed, spicy, and extremely a funny good time!!!!!

The pacing and development of the story starts off so strong and I was intrigued from the very start! I loved the way Domino and Whitney clicked instantly, Domino’s dominance and entrance into the story had me obsessed with him from the jump! Their attraction with one another and vibe was so hot and fun! Their banter albeit is unusual and actually funny, this is definitely a rom com, you will definitely laugh at their obnoxious banter!

Whitney, oh yeah she is the perfect FMC, her confidence and the way she adapted to her life turning upside down was so intriguing ! She is funny, and she never shied away from the turn of events!

Maverick!! Ugh love him so much, this author always adds a cute protective animal within the plot and i’m here for it! Maverick did not disappoint and was perfect!

Lena and Jackie!! Wow wow! Love them so much! Their funny interactions with Whitney and unwavering support for each other was so pure and loving! I truly loved how close their friendship was and the multiple surprises and easter eggs surrounding them! Jackie was absolutely so funny and her digs / jabs / smart remarks throughout the story was the comic relief I didn’t know I needed!

Also the action scenes in this!!! *chefs kiss* the author really set the tone and was able to describe those scenes so well, it felt like I was watching a movie as I read.

& The spice scenes??? Whew! Domino is that man, and I’ll leave it at that.

꧁༒☬ Okay, to be fair, to be fair, this book wasn’t inherently bad. It’s just not the kind of book I’d ever give more than 3 stars. I was actually planning on giving it 3 stars, but by the end, I was just so bored out of my mind.

꧁༒☬ At the beginning, it was funny, and I was into it. But then, when it hit the middle, it just felt like… this book did not need to be that long.

So I knocked off 0.5 stars for that and rounded down to 2, because honestly, even the romance was kinda eh. It felt too lusty. I know you’re thinking “obviously look at the title” 🫨

But still, I feel like there should’ve been some spark or something.Instead, it was just sex, sex, sex, sex, sex, sex, sex, sex. And as a smut hater, it wasn’t doing it for me.

This was fun to read. I giggled a few times at the characters. Domino and Whitney had more sexual chemistry than love but I get the vampires love at first sight thing vs humans not so much.

I loved the initial love hate relationship with Whitney and Maverick. I loved the friendship between Lena Jackie and Whitney. I feel like the ending was kinda drawn out but still overall good story.

3.5 This was fun and entertaining! I loved the strong, confident FMC Whitney. She accidentally hooks up with a vampire (obviously) and everything that happens after is just pure chaotic fun.
Domino, the vampire, brings a little bit of trouble into her life. This was definitely action packed, with lots of discoveries throughout.

I loved the banter between Whitney and Domino. And I really enjoyed the dynamic between Whitney and her two best girlfriends. However, I do think the girl friendship and all the craziness going on took away from the romance aspect a bit.
It felt more like a paranormal adventure story than a true romance.

Stars and Chili Peppers are hard for me because they're so relative to the reader, rather than being a true measure of the book itself. When I enjoy a book and it makes me want to read more of the author's books, I'm giving it five stars. There are definitely explicit sex scenes but they felt...rushed(?) to me.


Normally, my vibe is a lot darker than this kind of book but I applied to review an ARC because (1) I want to read more from authors of color and (2) I needed something light and sexy as a palate cleanser.

This book follows Whitney, an art broker who, as the title promises, accidentally hooked up with a vampire. The story line takes a turn that makes the plot more complex than I was expecting from a book that doesn't take itself too seriously.

Things I Loved:

- the representation of less than perfect bodies, including the main characters.
- the explanation for why the main characters catch feelings so fast
- the surprising plot line
- the realness/authenticity of the characters. The FMC reacts like a person really would rather than with unquestioning acceptance.

10/10 would recommend as a fun (and funny) and sexy read that features some supernatural elements.

The plot line that didn't make that much sense is the one with the sister. Since she doesn't feature in the beginning of the book (mentioned only once), Whitney's concern over her feels too intense.

I really wanted to love this—vampires are totally my thing—but this one just didn’t deliver. Maybe my expectations were too high, but the book felt like it was trying to be everything (romance, fantasy, comedy, drama)… and in the end, it wasn’t really anything at all.

The spice? Not spicying. The sex scenes felt rushed and forgettable, and the romance was pushed so far into the background it barely registered. Character development was shallow, the banter didn’t land, and overall it read more like a magical rom-com than the darker, atmospheric vampire story I was hoping for.

Big disappointment, especially since the premise had so much potential.

In this book We meet Whitney 👽 and her Besties Lena 🧪and Jackie 🗡️. We all have friends just like them. I was crying laughing at them going back and forth and just the overall conversations/interactions. Last, but certainly not least. We meet the one and only Domino 🩸 Whitney’s vampire boo thang. 🤭

Get ready for orgasms by the ocean, LOTS of plot twist, secrets, and all the things you’ve ever wanted to know about Vampires. This book was ACTION packed, you won’t be able to put it down once you start it.

If you loved the first book of this series I can PROMISE you’ll love book 2! THIS WAS BETTER! It was wittier, funnier, and just as spicy. I also love how the character from book 1 was incorporated in this storyline. It was fantastic. I enjoyed myself so much. If I wasn’t so busy and had to stop I would have finished this in one sitting. Please keep writing this series! I need to get physical copies now!

Another really fun book in this Accidents Happen series!! I found that this one didn't have me laughing out loud as much as the first book but it still definitely had its moments! It's spicy, and the scenes are really well done. The narrator is excellent! I could listen to her all day.. and I did!
