Femme Fatale Monsters #4

Nosfer-Meet You: A Femme Fatale Monster Romance

Rate this book
They’ve both survived through centuries of darkness, but falling in love might be the most dangerous thing they’ve ever done.

Juliette has spent centuries lingering in the shadows — from the bloody streets of revolutionary France to the sewer underworld of Sugardove City. As a Nosferatu, her monstrous appearance makes her a target, but it’s The Helsings, a ruthless anti-vampire militia, who keep her underground and isolated.

Until Scotty crashes into her world — quite literally — while fleeing a Helsings ambush at a concert. Despite their obvious differences, the two manage to figure out their un-lives... together.

What begins as a desperate alliance becomes something far deeper as they trade stories, pain, and stolen kisses in the dark. But their fragile bond is threatened when Juliette’s maker, the sadistic and obsessive Dante, resurfaces with one reclaim his "daughter," no matter what.

Juliette escaped him once. To do it again, she and Scotty will have to risk everything — including each other.

Nosfer-Meet You is the fourth installment in the Femme Fatales Monsters series! You can expect first person, dual POV, grumpy/sunshine, and a guaranteed HEA. This story is slightly darker than the previous stories in the series but with its typical humor and snark.

ARC review
Scotty was such a disaster of a vampire but a surprisingly sweet guy and was good at rolling with the punches. Juliette was all lonely and introverted, but powerful and compassionate. She and Scotty had a solid banter going and they found a little slice of happiness, even if it was in trying circumstances. They each were what they other needed.

Spice: 3/5

Triggers: Alcohol abuse, gun violence inside a club, extreme violence resulting in death, blood, gore, forced cannibalism, genocide, cock biting, some vore, sewer sights and smells (general grossness), explicit sexual content, force feeding, an abusive parent, drug use and abuse (mentioned.), depressive episode, confinement, fire

A 200-page vampire paranormal romance taking place in the modern day on a fictional island on Earth. Scotty is a vampire who was turned at the age of 25, and 40 years passed since then. Juliette is a nosferatu vampire who was turned in 1793 as a young woman, therefore she's much older and more powerful than Scotty because vampire powers grow with their age.

What I enjoyed:
- fmc is older and more powerful than the mmc
- fmc is not conventionally attractive, mmc finds her ugly at the first sight but over time starts noticing beauty and cuteness in her as he falls in love with her
- both mcs are kind and protective towards each other
- the story is fairly short and to the point
- the prose is breezy and flows nicely
- the epilogue sex scene was cool and interesting, seems they're both switches
- the bonding between the characters felt more natural to me than in another book of this author I've read previously, No Sugar Coating It, where I felt the relationship was very rushed and developed in only a handful of days

What I didn't enjoy:
- three quarters of this book is characters retelling their backstories, it feels like very little happens in comparison in the modern day
- you know that "high stakes" thing mentioned at the end of the blurb? how far into the story you think that happens? in the last 20 pages, that's what, and the resolution feels rushed and anticlimactic because of it, and there isn't that much build up / foreshadowing to it either; generally not a fan when the blurb reveals something that happens deep into the story, but usually these don't go beyond 30-50%, here it tells us something that happens at 90%!
- the sex scenes before the epilogue felt fairly rote: some vampire biting, typical "good girl, come for me" talk
- at some point the word "core" is used in the context that I think it's supposed to mean vagina, and that's really weird and confusing; I'm used to "core" meaning clit

What I didn't enjoy but are matters of taste:
- various pop-culture references, they're really not for me
- overabundance of "therapy speak" in the exchanges between the characters

Overall I enjoyed the story of a 200+ year old vampire being allowed to behave like a cute girl and getting "normal" life like a movie night or going shopping, no matter the tragic backstories of the characters. I didn't enjoy the huge disproportion between the page space dedicated to mcs' backstories, and the present day plot. I wish for backstories / flashbacks to be a seasoning, not a main dish.

I'm giving it a 4, because the world needs more monster girls.

I've received the ARC through D.J. Russo's mailing list. I'm leaving my honest opinion as a voluntary review.

Juliette and Scotty have my whole heart. We meet them as Scotty is trying to flee from vampire hunters, and Juliette leads him to her hiding place in the sewers. Scotty is a vampire, and Juliette's a Nosferatu. They've both lost a lot over the decades (Scotty) and centuries (Juliette). Most of all, they have been feeling achingly alone. As a Nosferatu, Juliette isn't a conventional beauty, and she's well aware of that. Scotty, however, sees the beauty in her from their first meeting, and I loved how the author described her features through his eyes. The characters have great chemistry. It felt cosy, despite the gory parts and them having to resort to living in the sewers.

This story broke my heart and patched it back together. I'd definitely recommend it for an autumn TBR 🍂

Best one yet!

I absolutely love when the mmc is kind of an idiot dork and the fmc is a bad a$$. So this was the perfect couple for me. I was expecting the k1nky parts to be sooner but I liked how it was written all the same. This might be the best book out of the series and I can't wait to see what comes next.

Nosfer-Meet You was such an interesting story with a wonderful mix of romance, dark storylines and excellent character development! The moment I picked up this book and started reading, I could hardly put it down! It definitely kept me hooked; the pacing was excellent and the character development was very well written. Scotty and Juliette were such a wonderful couple with amazing chemistry, I loved how naturally the two came together and grew as characters throughout the story.

I also really enjoyed the lore and level of details; I’ve always been a huge fan of Vampires the Masquerade and this book really gave off the same vibes, which I really loved!

I absolutely can’t wait to read more of this series! This is a book I would highly recommend if you’re looking for a very in depth and interesting vampire romance.

I would like to thank D.J. Russo for kindly sending me this e-arc, it was such a pleasure to read!

ARC Read: I haven't read any other book by this author so I'm not sure what the others in this series are like, but this was a mid book for me. It was a fun romp and I did enjoy it as just a fun little side quest to my main books, I would probably give the others in the series a go at some point.

It was a weird in-between book I thought. Its a monster romance which, to me, means lots of weird freaky sex. This didn't really have that until, basically the epilogue! But it also wasn't detailed enough to be considered a 'proper' fantasy novel. Everything happened so fast, you got a bit of origin story for both characters, then they meet, then like 2 days later they're in love, the he is in a coma for like 2 weeks, then they suddenly decided to run away together and live happily ever after. Then there's a random BDSM scene....it was just very chaotic.

I would love this to be more akin to ACOTAR (which I hated) I just mean more the in-depth, going into a deeper story aspect, I would totally read a 500 page book about Juliette and Scotty if we got to draw it out a bit more, get more juicy details and spicy scenes! I would of loved to get a little more flashbacks to Scotty and his coven, I would of loved to have got a bit more backstory of Juliette after she fled but before Scotty. I would of loved a bit more time with them getting to know each other....I just wanted more!

I did love that she was the Nosferatu, I love the concept of the woman being the monster in the story, even though I would of liked that to be more in the story, apart from the initial description, some mentions of her claws and the fact that she's bald, I kept forgetting that she was supposed to be kinda hideous. I also loved that Scotty just accepted that he had a stronger more badass girlfriend than him, like he tried to protect her and was worried about her like any boyfriend would be but if she told him to sit this one out because he'd get in the way, he was like, that's fair and didn't question it

Overall I liked this book, I would recommend it to someone who maybe was just getting into monster romance or someone who just wanted a fun easy Vamp read.

This was my first in the Femme monster romance series by DJ Russo and I have to say I Honestly I was not expecting this book to be as heartfelt as it was! Thank you so much DJ Russo for the Gifted E-ARC.

Juliette was such a strong female character, and it was heart breaking reading her story. Even before death her life wasn't a bit tragic, one I can definitely relate to with a mother who could care less about her other than her worth.

Scotty's story was equally as tragic, going from his human life where he wasn't really wanted or cared about either to a new found family of vamps just for them to be taken from him as well. I really love to appreciated that together they became a new home for one another.

I really appreciated the buildup of chemistry between these two. especially since Juliette is a nosferatu, so not exactly your normal average beautiful sexy vampire.. but Scotty was able to look past her looks to her personality and realize just how beautiful she was underneath.

I will say this one definitely has some major horror elements and Gore and was very spicy including some sensitive body parts being bitten... But Scotty didn't seem to mind. 🤭

All in all, I truely enjoyed every minute of this book and the ending made for such a nice wrap of of Juliette's story! I would love a sequel or a novella of these two because I absolutely loved their chemistry.

Favorite Quotes:

"This girl goes deep. You can tell just from her eyes and how vast they are. Like the sea or the sky or... The Void."

"Who decides who is worthy of protection? Who is permitted to live in common society. Who is allowed to kill, and who is not."

I love this series because I love getting to see monster women for a change! I think DJ Russo does strong monster ladies so well, I’ve loved the past three books in this series. I’ll always have a special place in my heart for Oona from Sink or Swim! I was so excited to see another book in the series, especially with an FMC who looks very monstrous. Juliette is a classic nosferatu vampire, complete with a bald head, long pointed ears, sharp visible fangs and grey/white skin. She’s always very old and very powerful, the opposite of Scotty, which is not even 100 years old yet and doesn’t have any special vampire powers. Their dynamic was a fun one! Definitely black cat and golden retriever vibes, where Scotty’s mission was to get Juli to open up and enjoy her life. They were definitely cute, and I loved watching Juli start to open up to Scotty after she saved him.

They also had some fun spice, with blood play, biting and eventually some bondage and pain play. I wish we had gotten to see more of Scotty’s submissive side before the epilogue but they were both finding their footing together so I understand. I also kinda felt like their I love yous came pretty quickly, but during the story it seemed like they spent more time together than what was outright written. I loved that we got to see both their backstories and helped each other heal from it. Overall, I think the series as a whole was great and I loved that Juli was very monstrous looking. All the nods to the past books are also something I always enjoy as well!

🦇🩸 ARC Review 🩸🦇
The biggest thanks to D.J. Russo for sending me this arc after I asked her 💕 I really enjoyed this series and was so excited to continue it!

~~ Nosfer-Meet You ~~
(Book 4 in Femme Fatale Monsters)
by D.J. Russo

* Nosferatu FMC
* Vampire MMC
* Dark Romance
* Light Horror
* Anxiety & Depression Rep

Hunted by cruel vampire slayers, Scotty, a lonely and depressed vampire, is almost ready to except his fate and become dust on already streets. But before he is caught a strange creature from the sewers help him escape and lets him join her in her lonely undeath.
Juliette is a Nosferatu, an ancient race of vampire that was thought to be wiped out centuries ago by Paladins. She is the last of her kind and know only sadness and grief, until she rescues a young vampire and her Undeath becomes something she never imagined.

Nosfer-Meet You is the darkest book in the Femme Fatale Monsters series so far, would also have to be the most emotional and gory. That being said it is tide with Sink Or Swim for my favourite book in the series!!
I love being able to see the city of Sugardove in a different grittier way with the dark dangerous threat of the Helsings and Temples, homicidal vampire hunting fanatics, looming over our main characters every time they had to leave the safety of sewer to find food.
This book tells the story of how darkness can consume us without mercy and how you can find light within that darkness when we lest expect it.
The only thing I found let this book down was the epilogues, they felt unnecessary but that was me problem more than the book itself.
All in all I highly recommend it! It would make a good spooky season read. 🎃👻

ok, i am OBSESSED WITH THIS 😭 it was weird, silly, spooky, and so full of depth and charm. the writing was stunning and so beautifully descriptive, with characters that were woven to perfection. i am obsessed with Jules and Scotty! i also loved the lore and accuracies of the nosferatu ledge in this book (i’m a huge vampire nerd)
i adored the time jumps of both POVs and getting to know their pasts more intimately. Juliette she had such a hard life and i just love her so much and i am so happy she found Scotty! 🥺
my favorite kind of monster is a scary one (on the outside) with a heart of gold. she was just that, and genuinely so gorgeous.
Scotty was a bit of a disaster but such a sweetie, and the wonder of Juliette was just what he needed. they complemented each other so well, i love their love! i was giggling and kicking my feet all throughout this breathtaking vampire romance. it gave me all the feels! the depth, suffering and healing of these characters in their human (and undead) condition was gut wrenching and freaking beautiful. (how many times am i going to say beautiful?) this book genuinely had me tearing up a few time 😭
it’s no secret i LOVE monsters, but i haven’t read many femme fatals and i want to change that immediately! this was absolutely wonderful.
i feel so grateful to have been chosen to be an early reader for this book, it will hold such a special place in my heart. i cannot wait to read more by this author, thank you so much for the arc, DJ!
10/10 outstanding. i can’t wait to own a physical copy and immediately buy and read this entire series!
i HIGHLY recommend this!

Scott and Juliette

Spice: 🌶️🌶️🌶️.🫑

Okay, so this one took a little time to warm up to, but I’m really happy with how it wraps up. Scott was a bit of a pain at first, but once I dug into his backstory, I totally get why he’s the way he is! He’s like the sunshine in the story—always bringing joy and hope even after all he’s been through. He’s still dreaming of freedom, even though his situation makes it hard for him to be out in the open.

Juliette is such a fierce character! I’m a sucker for a little action, and she definitely delivers! She’s got a grumpy side that I adore, and I totally get why she’s like that. Her past is so rough, and she deserves so much better. It’s so satisfying to see her grow and evolve, and it’s awesome to see how far she’s come.

Scotty and Juli are such a great match! Their relationship feels so natural. I really appreciate Scotty’s support—he doesn’t try to change Juli, and he always recognizes her strengths. He’s not overbearing, but he’s also not just a bystander when she’s facing challenges. He’s always there for her, just as protective as she is of him. I really enjoyed seeing them together. I don’t feel like their relationship was forced at all, and you can really see the chemistry, the longing, and the connection. It’s just beautiful, honestly.

This is the first book I’ve read by D.J and I can’t wait to read more!❤️

Gleeful Goblin Review: I've loved all of the books in this series but I think this one is really special. I admit I'm a little partial to vampire stories since Vampire: The Masquerade was the first roleplay game I ever played, both LARP and tabletop. I love that DJ managed to put such a unique spin on vampire lore for this book, even to the point that Nosferatu like our FMC Juliette are the stuff of myths and legend to scare typical vampires like our MMC Scotty. Juliette is centuries old to Scotty's 40ish years post turning when they meet in the course of Juliette rescuing Scotty from a dangerous group of zealous hunters, The Helsings.

The majority of the book reads somewhat like Interview With The Vampire but with both of the characters telling the other person their past backstories while in the present, they're hiding from Helsings in Juliette's sewer home. The jumps in time during storytelling are done very well with clear demarcation of when events are taking place so it's easy to follow. When the reason becomes clear for the increase in raids, Helsings, and all the other upheaval taking place it throws you for a loop! I truly loved this story of growth, vulnerability, and how no matter ugly the world may see you that Your Person treasures you completely. 5/5 Stars

There have been many times in my life where I have met gorgeous men, only to get to know them and realize they’re king sized jerks. Once this happens, I always see them as less attractive—like MUCH less. In ‘Nosfer-Meet You’, Scotty experiences the opposite effect—when he first meets Juliette, he thinks she is ugly, but the more he gets to know her, the more attractive he finds her. I’ve enjoyed all the books written by DJ Russo—yes, I’ve read them all—and ‘Nosfer-Meet You’ is no exception. Scotty and Juliette’s love story is a beautiful tale of two damaged souls, both fragile in their own way, that find survival is easier and loneliness is softer together.

This story is dual POV, well written and edited, and a dark, emotional, fantasy romance with traumatised characters consisting of an older female Nosferatu vampire (Juliette) and a younger male “normal” vampire (Scotty). Please mind the trigger warnings; they’re accurate. I enjoyed the effort Scotty put into building a connection with Juliette, given he hadn’t been interested in much since his previous coven was destroyed; I enjoyed the evolution of his feelings towards Juliette. I empathised with Juliette’s fears and concerns. I enjoyed seeing her blossom under Scotty’s focus. I enjoyed that she was older, physically stronger, and more capable as a vampire contrasted against his emotional engagement, confidence in the modern world, and willingness to engage with novel situations. A significant chunk of the story revolves around their truly tragic origins as individual vampires, and the bond they build is initially a trauma bond but, if this sort of dark past to hopeful future vampire story is your preference, then I recommend it to you.

I received a complimentary copy from the author and this is my voluntary honest review.

I'm in love with Juliette. She and Oona might be tied as my favorite femme lady now. This book is such a beautiful story of two broken people finding each other and healing together. I loved all the sweet moments between the two.

Juli is such a badass! Her no funny business attitude was very entertaining to read. And Scotty took it all in stride. It made for some hilarious banter.

In this world, vampires don't suddenly get cured of any illness or disease they have when they get turned. It was a refreshing take on vampire lore. Though thinking of being turned and enduring eternity with my chronic pain is a scary thought!

It broke my heart learning about Juliette's background. She and Scotty both went through some horrible moments in their lives. But they found their person and are making a better life for themselves with each other. And all the little hints we get about previous Femme Fatale characters and maybe new ones make me excited to see what DJ gives us next!

3.5 rounded up to 4

I liked Nosfer-Meet You, it’s a dark, messy, and heartfelt story of love between two monsters. Juliette being a true Nosferatu was such a standout. The black-cat/grumpy x golden-retriever vibe between them worked perfectly, with plenty of sweet moments tucked between the grit and blood.

You really get to dive into both characters’ backstories and see exactly how they came to be who they are now. I enjoyed the darker, gorier tone and the way DJ Russo continues to bring femme monster leads into the spotlight. This is a unique, emotional vampire romance, and I’d recommend it to someone looking for a spooky-season read with a twist on vampire lore.

Thank you to BookSirens and the author for a copy of this book.

3.5 rounded 4

It has vampires. That should be all you need to know.

I liked the characters and the way the story unfolded. That was different and interesting. It made for some repetition in the actions between Juli and Scotty but it works for the plot. This was my first book from D.J Russo and it won't be the last.

Pick it up if you like:
- Slowburn (open door)
- Vampires but she's a Nosferatu
- Dark background stories and it unfolds during the book
- Character growth

I received an e-copy from the author. Thank you for the opportunity to spend some time with Juli and Scotty. This review is my own and I'm leaving it voluntarily.

This was a very interesting take on monster romance. We are introduced to so many different types of vampires. Our fmc Juliette is a Nosferatu. I loved how the author used a female monster. It made the story more interesting. I loved the background stories and character development. The relationship between Juliette and Scotty is very sweet and seductive. There were moments where it felt repetitive and dragged the story along. Regardless I enjoyed the writing and am excited to see what the author has in store for the future.
I did receive an arc from the author. This is my honest review.

I really enjoyed this book! I have not read many books where both the FMC and MMC are vampires/monsters, and I really enjoyed how they could relate to each other's paranormal struggles. I really enjoyed both MCs and their relationship. Their banter and growth, both individually and separately, were really cool to see. Scotty was funny and very entertaining, but there were layers to him and his character that really rounded him out. Juliette, the artist, what a character! I enjoyed learning about her past first during her chapters while watching Scotty experience who she is now before getting her current POV.

✨My Thoughts: My favorite of the Femme Fatale series. This one is darker than the rest, but there is so much background you read about with the flashbacks for both Scotty and Juliette. I really really enjoyed the way DJ wrote this book.

Absolutely loved this!! The characters I throughly enjoyed the banter, the areas the characters were from. The love and energy it built with a little bit of spice.
It had it all powerful back stories and they way they were told. I loved the FMC Jules and MMC Scotty I honestly would love a follow up on their adventures. They enteral dead and the love they develop with such tenderness and passion. This is the has definitely picked up my interest in monster romance again as I have fallen down extreme horror so definitely give a try.

I LOVED this, definitely my favourite book of hers yet.

Compelling start and characters, some beautiful, tender moments, and I really felt the love between Juli and Scotty. All wrapped up in quality writing with a plot that moves along nicely.

Also YES PLEASE, MORE OF THIS!

We start off in an urban cityscape with Scotty a drunkard who finds himself in a spot of trouble.

Then we have Juliette a Nosferatu, who is leading Scotty through the cities sewers.

But the story starts off in recent society with scot, and the second chapter we skip back to Juliettes childhood in the 1700’s.

It is such an odd concept you have Juliette and Scotty in recent society side by side and then Juliettes chapters are about her and her upbringing. I like it, this is the first book to do this type of flip flop with timelines well.

And then about halfway through he book, the tables flip and we are visiting Scotts past and learning more about him and his coven.

Key Points in no particular order:
- Alcoholism
- hitting rock bottom
- vampire
- Nosferatu
- Helsings
- talk of drug abuse
- dual point of view
- Bl*0d & g0r3
- forced actions/kidnapping
- forced proximity
- Gr0om-ing
- bl*0d play
- Pain K- ink
- FMC is the monster/nasferatu
- Standalone
- looks are not everything

This book was absolutely incredible. The storytelling of the character backstories is so vivid and engaging that I completely forgot that I was waiting for spice! Although this relationship is slower burn than some of the others in the series, Scotty and Juliette were worth the wait. Learning about their pasts and seeing their jagged edges slowly come together in the present was such a treat. I think I say it every time, but this is my new favorite Femme Fatale book. They really do just get better and better!

This was another unique and entertaining addition to the series. Juliette is an old vampire and her appearance is a surprise. She’s introverted, lonely, compassionate and powerful. Scott is fairly newly turned, only 40 years to her several hundred, and he’s a bit of a mess with no real powers, yet ;) He’s also sweet, and while he initially wasn’t into her appearance, he quickly found beauty and cuteness that really called him as he got to know her. With fun banter, healing, emotions, detailed back stories, some hot spice and great writing, this was a page turner for me. Good fun!

Really enjoyed this book. Not only was this the first book from this author but I loved how this story was told. We got both backstories to the main characters. I learned about different types of vampires and I hope we can all agree on the number one enemy *cough cough drake*. The writing style was just up my alley and I loved the jokes Scotty told.

This book was a breath of fresh air. I'm so used to vampire books being dark and on the super spicy side- this was a nice change.

I love the relationship between Scotty and Juliette. It was very cutesy. Having them share their background stories helped make their love not so insta-love. Their dynamic felt real and kept me interested.

Overall - a really cute story and great addition to the Femme Fatale series.

Hope to hear more about the bear shifters and harpies too. 😁

Good quality writing from D.J. with excellent characters. Exactly what I expected but with a heavier theme.

I absolutely adored Juliette! I had a good cackle when she claimed lagoon monsters are just stories. Like hello, you're a nosferatu, why would you question the existence of a lagoon monster, haha.

I hope we get more femme monsters in the future.

I looved this! Juli is such a bad*ss Nosferatu, I'm obsessed with her. I thought the way this was written was so fun and really kept it immersive and exciting while telling us two very long back stories within the story. I'd love to see these characters again and getting a follow up on where they are now! I highly recommend!
