Harper Rose is a billionaire heiress and the PR Queen of New York. The only problem is she is unlucky in love. After another failed relationship, she decides to give up on dating and heads to The Paradise Club Resort to heal. Unexpectedly, she runs into Felix St. Pierre, the much younger, tattooed, ice hockey bad boy, and they hit it off instantly.
Don’t they say to get over someone, you have to get under someone else?
Felix St. Pierre is a hockey superstar whose personal life has imploded after his girlfriend left him for his teammate. Broken-hearted, he fills the void with puck bunnies and partying, which lands him front and center in the news and in a heap of trouble. To avoid the spotlight and nurse his broken heart, he escapes to The Paradise Club Resort. What he wasn’t expecting was to run into a gorgeous, captivating Harper Rose.
What happens in Paradise is supposed to stay in Paradise.
When the tabloids find out about their vacation and report to the world that they are dating, the internet explodes with the news as does her ex, and that’s when his threats start coming. Felix doesn’t want what happened in Paradise to end and suggests they should fake-date for the summer to make her ex back off. Harper isn’t keen on the idea until her ex gives her a reason to accept his help.
The only problem is when the summer is over, and the lines between fake and real have started to blur, will they take a shot on goal, or will they end up in the end zone?
"JA Low lives on a faraway beach in Australia. When she's not writing steamy scenes and admiring hot surfers, she's tending to her husband and two sons, and dreaming up the next epic romance."
Fake dating, forced proximity, and a cocky but ridiculously sweet hockey player? Love on Ice had me hooked from page one! Felix St. Pierre is all charm and trouble, and Harper Rose is not looking for romance—until their instant connection turns into something neither of them can ignore. What starts as a carefree escape quickly spirals into a high-stakes situation, blurring every line they swore they wouldn’t cross.
Felix falls fast and hard, and honestly? It’s impossible not to swoon over him. Harper is fierce, independent, and used to keeping her guard up, but Felix? He sees right through it. Their chemistry is electric, their banter is perfection, and the tension? Unreal.
I loved this book and can’t wait for everyone to get their hands on it! If you’re a fan of fake dating, hockey romance, and a hero who adores his leading lady, Love on Ice needs to be on your radar!
Wow, I was not expecting them to start off with being non exclusive friends with benefits. I usually love my book men to be extremely possessive and loyal. However, in this book I kind of actually enjoyed those scenes. It was different and it was done in a way that was tasteful. The characters literally just meet at a resort meant solely for fooling around and want to have fun after getting their hearts broken. They both communicate that they think they’d never date each other because of circumstances so they enjoy each other on the resort while having fun with others and sometimes in the presence of each other.
Once they leave the resort and a certain situation arises, they decide to fake date which then turns into dating for real for the summer where they chose to be exclusive and are possessive of each other. They don’t share and are committed to one another.
I loved seeing their relationship evolve from friends who just clicked, to developing feelings for one another the more time they spent together. Felix showed Harper that not all men are cheating trash.
I will say that there were a fair few side characters which were hard to keep up with. I got some information about them confused or wasn’t given any leaving me clueless to their relationship with the main characters.
If you want to read something that is different from your typical hockey player, fake dating, reverse age gap romance, I’d say to give this one a go.
Rating: 3.5/5 🌟 Spice: 4/5 🌶️ Characters: Harper and Felix
This is my first time reading J.A. Low and had a good time with it! Felix is a professional hockey player and has just been transferred. He has also just found out that his girlfriend and best friend have been cheating behind his back. The betrayal hits him hard, and he starts acting out a bit. Harper is a bit older, rich, confident, and has also just caught her boyfriend cheating on her.
They both end up at Paradise Island to get away from everything. They meet on the boat there and are immediately drawn to each other. Felix develops a quick crush, and Harper feels like she needs to help him enjoy what the island has to offer on his first trip there. They definitely make the most of that trip together and with others on the island. Once they return home their friends with benefits arrangement is turned into a fake dating arrangement for reasons. It's a bit of a whirlwind from there.
I had a little bit of a hard time with Harper. I loved that she was so s*x positive and confident, but her stubbornness was a bit frustrating sometimes. I also really liked Felix, he's incredibly sweet and all about her happiness. I did struggle a little bit with the development of the relationship. But I think that might be a me thing or a timing issue. I went into this only really knowing the tropes. It's way steamier than I was expecting. That's not a bad thing at all. I think I just went into this with a different idea, and it sort of warped my reading experience. Again, this feels like it was a me thing and a timing thing. I read it when I was in a different sort of mood. The story is fun, the characters are well developed, and the relationship was sweet. I'll definitely read more by the author now that I know what to expect.
We are headed back to the Paradise Club! Add in the hockey romance trope and we are in for a fun ride!
🖤Billionaire romance 🖤Hockey romance 🖤Reverse age gap 🖤Fake dating 🖤Forced proximity 🖤Vacation fling turned more
Harper is a well known billionaire who has the worst luck with men. And after her last relationship ends, she decides to go to the Paradise Club to blow off some steam for a week. She doesn't expect to form an unlikely friends with benefits situation. What happens at the Paradise Club, stays at the Paradise Club.
Until real life happens and these two are forced together once again.
I loved both of these characters individually and together - Harper is a s3x positive female and I loved that about her. She knows what she wants and isn't afraid to go after it. Felix is a cinnamon roll with a filthy mouth who also goes after what he wants. And for all intents and purposes, Harper is exactly what he wants.
Can't wait to see where we are headed next in this series!
I absolutely love when books connect from other worlds! Paradise is an absolute favorite of mine, so I was so excited for this one! Felix and Harper have instant chemistry. When it turns out they run in some of the same circles on their way to Paradise they decide - what happens at Paradise stays at Paradise.. or does it? Their relationship starts off slowly with them being friends and playing and turns into so much more. Throw in some drama and it’s such a wild ride, I can’t wait for more from this series, I just know it’ll be another one of my favs.
Harper has sworn off dating after catching yet another boyfriend cheating on her. Felix has been told off by his agent for being a playboy to the point of ruining his image after catching his own girlfriend cheating with a fellow team member. His agent sends him away to a private sex club island to let off some steam, where he crosses paths with Harper doing the same thing. Together, they decide to have no-strings attached fun and see where that takes them.
***** This started off as a more erotica-heavy novel that leaned deeply into the sex-positive atmosphere of their tropical pleasure island. It was okay, with some more awkward dialogue, and some weird instances of calling hockey "ice hockey" repeatedly, along with some consistency issues, but nothing too drastic to fully pull me out of the novel.
As we started to get into the meat of the story, everything kind of went sideways. Both of the characters seemed a lot mentally younger than their late 20's/early 30's ages were set to be. There was immaturity and emotional hangups that were surprising and didn't seem to fit the characters' ages at all. Harper was incredibly dramatic, stubborn, and oddly held up on an age gap that wasn't that big. There were also very long run-on monologues in each characters head with them arguing and talking back to themselves, and it was a format that didn't seem to work within the rest of the novel.
Then we get to around the mid-point when other characters begin being a heavier part of the plot, and it all kind of fell apart. There were so many storylines with cheating. I think five different couple groupings in all? Which just started to feel ridiculous and overdone. There was external meddling, back stories everywhere, some deep stalker trauma with side characters, constant conflict, time jumps, and location jumps that everything felt either too slow or skipped over. Conflict with Felix's ex was resolved fully through tell and not show, and conflict with Harpers ex was so illogically resolved that I ended up a bit baffled. We also get side characters' conflicts resolved off page as well, minus one, which seems to lead into the next storyline. It all felt like a very rushed ending with too much not actually shown and overly uneven pacing.
Also, as a Canadian, It also was kind of odd to see the Canadian stereotype of being mindlessly nice and helpful employed that heavily throughout the novel. It was funny at first, but it started to drag on me with how often it was brought up.
Otherwise, it was an okay novel, but it felt like the author tried to add too many storylines and too many characters at once for depth, which ended up doing the opposite.
*****
Thank you to The Author Agency for the digital ARC. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
THE SPICE RIGHT OFF THE HOCKEY STICK ?! (See what I did there? 😉)
Spice level: 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️
I have to admit color me intrigued by this Pleasure island concept Harper and Felix both end up at after both find themselves in cheating exes and both with high profile lives. Even though I knew the minute these two locked eyes, things were going to happen, physically & emotionally, I mean…he’s a hockey player with six pack abs, who would say no to that?! *cricket sounds* Right, anyway the little pleasure land guide role Harper gave herself for Felix’ first time to the island was cute but there was no way those lines weren’t going to be blurred. I enjoyed watching Felix get pulled out of this hardass, playboy exterior persona of a hockey player and become this soft golden retriever and show Harper what a real man is after her string of, excuse my language, shitty ass cheating boyfriends. To watch Felix act like he was okay with this “summer only” friends fling agreement was painful to watch knowing this man was falling in love with her. Now onto Harper, girl, I wanted to shake her silly every time she brought up this 7 year age difference. Like miss ma’am, you have a hockey player drooling and worshipping you at your feet and the age is what we’re worrying about?!? Eventually my girl gets it through her head that this man has worked his way into her heart and broken every wall of glass she’s got surrounding her and I was left jumping on my bed cheering for this revelation. I am so grateful that this is just the first book of this series because I can already tell I will be as equally obsessed with the rest of the series….now give me a book about Issy and Pierre because those two need a comeback story.

Love on Ice is a strangers to friends-with-benefits to lovers story between Harper Rose, an independent, boss babe PR CEO and Felix St. Pierre, a younger hockey player from LA, recently traded to NY. Both were cheated on by their ex’s and decided to take a “break from life” vacation. They ended up meeting on Paradise Island, an ultra exclusive, secluded smex club-island. They got together for some no-strings super smexy fun. (However, that’s where the spice kind of ends.)
Back in the real world, they decided to help each other with their ex-partners. Harper went into PR mode to take care of the idle threats Felix’s manipulative ex threw at him. Harper’s ex, Josh, started giving off creepy, stalker vibes so Felix and Harper agreed to fake date (with a side of “benefits”) to keep him away. And, as always with fake dating, feelings started to develop.
I really enjoyed the character of Felix, and truly felt for him during his crazy, cheating scandal. I absolutely loved seeing the characters of the other books and knowing that Love on Ice was following the same timeline. And while I did admire her boss babe attitude, I could not relate to Harper. I thought her focus on their age gap was silly and I truly didn’t understand why she made some of the decisions she made.
There wasn’t a lot of depth to the plot, but any book with Paradise Club action is a guaranteed fun and spicy read! (You want a wake up call by a mouth on your nether regions? You got it!) This book will be a great read for the right audience; for me, it was just missing something.
Note: I’ve read several of JA Low’s books before, starting with Dirty Texas Rockstars, Playboys of New York, and The Paradise Club and LOVED them!
Love on ice by JA Low 🌶️: ⭐⭐⭐⭐ *Rating: 5/5 *Billionaire *Age gap *Hockey player *Cheating *Socialite world *Golden retriever vibes
This is one of my most favorite fast paced readings, easy to understand, the level of spice was incredible, I enjoyed every chapter.
Harper gets cheated on by her boyfriend of 2 years, to get over the breakup she decides to take a vacation to The Paradise Club Resort, where she casually meets Felix a hot hockey player who happens to be one of Harpers best friends’ client. They, been in a similar emotional situation, click on and decide to have fun together and enjoy their stay without worrying about the outside world. Even though they tried to leave behind what happened in paradise, life puts them in a situation where they could not stay away from each other.
I like how independent Harper is how she wants to take control of the situation and Felix for knowing and understanding how she really feels without her having to explain to him, his patience and his care is what got me… can I have a Felix please?
I can never pass up a Hockey Romance, so was happy to get this ARC from @theauthor.agency and @jalowbooks in exchange for my honest review.
Smut doesn’t bother me in books; however, having Harper and Felix meet at a sex island wasn’t really for me. (Almost DNF) Neither one of them were players but their high profile lives made it impossible to have random sex without it being plastered all over. Harper a PR Rep and Felix a Professional Hockey Player. I didn’t love the Island but I truly liked the characters and Felix was such a charmer. I hung in there and finished this book and dare I say I loved it. Harper and Felix enjoyed their time together on the island but Harper was adamant when they got back they couldn’t be together- he was too young for her and she couldn’t get her heart broken again but then their photo is plastered in newspapers as the end up in a bit of a compromising kiss and for their reputations they decide to fake date for the summer. What could possibly go wrong? Will the lines be crossed or will they go their separate ways at the end of the summer?
Oh my, this book was extra spicy!! I could not put it down, wanting to know what scene was coming next.
Harper is a billionaire PR boss and she’s good at what she does. Only thing, she attracts loser boyfriend who end up cheating on her and making her question her worth. Harper takes care of the people cares about. She an amazing friend and family member.
Felix has been cheated on and turned into a bad boy afterwards, burying himself in drinking and puck bunnies. But deep down, Felix is a good guy and has a huge heart.
Issy ends up sending the two to Paradise Island at the same time. Harper has been there several times, but this is Felix’s first. Harper agrees to be his tour guide. It is steamy and spicy! Whew the scenes that play out will get you a bit hot and bothered.
I loved reading these twos story. They have amazing chemistry and banter. Everyone can see the spark between them, but Issy is scared because she is older and her past relationships.
A new series by jess The Manhattan Mavicks this is a hockey romance.
I LOVED IT Haper rose get her book and her story was one fantastic read she has had a nightmare with relationships and her latest one ends the same been cheating on so she takes her self off to Pardise 🥵 where she meets a hot fit Hockey player who is looking for a distraction as he has been cheated on.
It’s so hard to write a review without giving to much away these two are so hot together if I read on paper it would of burnt my hands, Jess has wrote this perfectly and I’m so happy we went back to the paradise island🥵.
It was great to meet new characters Medow and Issy but i smiling like a Cheshire Cat here as we get to see the Taylor brother Nate and SAM ROSE again and the beauitful Kimberly.
I honestly could read this book again as it was that good
This is the first in a new series, and this is Felix and Harper’s story. Harper is a billionaire heiress, an PR queen of New York, but finds herself unlucky in love, while Felix is a tattooed superstar hockey play. Both suffering broken hearts, they connect at Paradise Resort, and the sparks fly. This is a well written story which is easy to read, with action, fake dating, forced proximity, drama, emotions, reverse age gap, insecurities, undeniable chemistry, romance, and love, which leads to an entertaining, spicy, and fun addictive page turner. I look forward to reading more from this talented author whose work I highly recommend.
I always get a kick out of reverse age gap stories & this one did not disappoint. The couple meet on their way to a swinger’s resort & hit it off. The spice in this book is off the charts. I’m also a sucker for a fake dating storyline, so when they realize they need to “date” each other to protect their reputations, you know it’s going to eventually end up in happily ever after. Felix is a charmer & who doesn’t love a guy that falls first? This book is fun, easy to read & a great afternoon escape.
Book 1 in the Manhatten Mavericks series, Love on ICE is a fake dating, hockey romance. Our MMC Felix and FMC Harper are both on cheated on by their significant others, both end up at a sex club Island courtesy of Issy, who not only is Harper's friend but is Felix's agent. They both go through so much but have a happy ending and it's perfect!.
Thankyou Greys Promotions and to The Author Agency for the opportunity to read review this amazing book
* I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review*
I haven't read anything by JA Low before now, so I wasn't sure what to expect I really enjoyed this book so much. SO SO SO spicy, so much chemistry between Felix and Harper, they both healed each other from their past trauma. This is set up to be a great series and I cannot wait for the next one!
Love the spice in all JA Low books. And this one brought it again and again 🔥🤪
Overall really enjoyed this book. The characters had great chemistry and fit well with each other. I was a bit disappointed we didn’t get more hockey though but hopefully in the next book of the series.
Okay, I REALLY liked this book. The reverse age gap, the spice, hockey player/ billionaire. Allllll of it. I can not wait for the next book. Thank you to the author and LoveNotes PR for the ARC
First of all I was a little confused when I started reading this book because it is a linked series the to the previous Paradise Club series and kind of runs parallel to it - not following it, as I expected.
That aside I instantly fell in love with the gorgeous hockey star Felix St. Pierre. Poor lad. Cheated on by his girlfriend with his best friend and just when he thought he was getting over her by getting under someone else, those pesky paparazzi almost ruin his career.
In a bid to help him get all the angst and tension out of his mind and body, his agent Issy books him into Paradise Island - an exotically erotic resort with some kinky twists.
On the boat to the island he meets Harper. We’ve met Harper briefly before as she and her brother Sam are silent partners in the Paradise resorts, but after discovering her ex cheating on her with his intern, she and Felix end up bonding over their mutual broken hearts. And wow, what a place to bond. Whilst there is a lot of soul searching being done there’s certainly a lot of fun activities to help keep their minds and particularly their bodies occupied.
They initially agree that what happens on the island stays on the island, but when the time comes for them to go their separate ways, they find it difficult to let go of the bond they had found.
Agreeing to give each other the rest of the summer to continue the relationship they’d forged in paradise, they become close. Not just bodily but romantically. You can see right from the outset that they aren’t going to be able to walk away from each other, even if they won’t admit it to themselves.
It takes a failed wedding and desperate ex to make them realise that what they were both searching for yet thought they’d never find, is actually standing right in front of them. Felix and Harper are just perfect for each other. Despite the age gap and their dating horror stories, they belong together. They just need to stop worrying about what could go wrong and focus on why they are so completely right.
Fantastic story with amazing characters that I could not help but fall in love with. Can’t wait for the next instalment.
DNF! I wanted to like this book - I really did. I had such high hopes after hearing some great recommendations but I had to DNF at 45%. I was just skimming at this point & I’ve too much on my tbr to push through.📚
The storyline had real promise, Golden Retriever x Black Cat. And I liked the idea of a hockey player & a New York Socialite (very Gossip Girl🤣) meeting on ‘Paradise Island’ where every sexual fantasy is able to come true. But sadly I wasn’t a fan of the style of writing.
The Spice was Spicin 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️ but so far that’s all I’ve felt there has been. I love me a smut book but I also love the romance side too. I NEED the romance side, and sadly this was very much lacking that. There wasn’t much of a connection, no ✨Spark!✨
The maturity isn’t there for either of them, and Harper keeps bringing up how much older than Felix she is - seven years is nothing when they’re meant to be late 20’s/early 30’s. (I think 🤷🏼♀️)
The lack of plot, one dimensional characters and zero chemistry has made this a no-no for me.
Also not sure how this is classed as a hockey romance, I was almost half way through and no ice, blades or locker rooms in sight.🤣
𝑾𝒉𝒂𝒕 𝒕𝒐 𝒆𝒙𝒑𝒆𝒄𝒕: 🏝️ Billionaire 🏝️ Age gap 🏝️ Hockey 🏝️ He falls first 🏝️ Fake dating 🏝️ Forced proximity 🏝️ S€x clubs
𝑴𝒚 𝒕𝒉𝒐𝒖𝒈𝒉𝒕𝒔: It felt so good to be back in Paradise even if only for a little while! I forgot how much I love the setting and the island where everything you dream of can happen. And what happend in Paradise is supposed to stay in Paradise but for Harper and Felix, it might not be the case!
They both end up on the island at the same time. They know each other through friends (and Felix's agent), decide they won't fight their connexion while in Paradise but once they are back to reality they'll will remain friends. But Harper's ex forces her to accept to fake date Felix for a while and then feelings get involved...
I loved Harper and Felix's story, their chemitry, the fact tat's she's the older one for once and he falls so hard for her.
I loved how Harper and Felix flowed from vacation fling to friends to fake dating and finally to something more. Their feelings grew naturally even though they fought and tried to deny them along the way. I love how they are there to lift and support each other through the difficult times. They are more than just friends helping each other; they healed one another.
Despite all the objections they created for themselves. These two just felt right.
There is some outside tension that adds just the right amount of pressure to their relationship. It brings out Felix’s protective and possessive side and it’s great! He has it all; he’s sweet & adorable, sexy, confident, swoon worthy, and has a filthy mouth. 🫠🥵😮💨 I have a ton of quotes highlighted because of this man.
I really enjoyed that even though Harper was a billionaire she is really down to earth. And I could still identify with her when it came to crummy relationships.
At first, I didn’t want their vacation to end because it felt like an end to Harper and Felix. But I was excited to see what would happen when they returned to the “real world”. The plot really helped with that transition. Those external factors and tension lined up perfectly.
They have such a strong chemistry that I couldn’t help but root for them through it all. There may have been a time or two or several I was yelling in my head “Are you blind?!?! Can you not see (s)he loves you?!?!”
Well…3.5⭐️ I just can’t get it to 4🤷♀️. I have many 4⭐️ reads so I just wasn’t there with this one. First off, while I’ve read many of the previous books connected to this one, it was still a lot of side characters I felt the author expected us, the readers, to keep straight. Overall I did like the premise of the book a lot, but the ending was rushed and everything tied in a nice 🎀 which was annoying. She spent all the time getting us on board with Felix and Harper then rushed the ending…AND tossing in a hockey injury for good measure. There were also a lot of annoying cross cultural words used that threw me off the flow of the narrative. It makes sense now that I realized the author is from Australia I get it. But I feel like if an author from another country wants to write about people in the US, then the narrative should use terms that we use.
I was influenced. Saw the video review and IMMEDIATELY clicked buy now. Yes it's a spicy one and it was delicious!!! It's also full of plot, romance, found family, drama and humor. Harper and Felix are so easy to read and the communication was awesome. My husband and I sat for an hour and discussed just the first 40% of this book. This one was easy to consume in a day and the lack of sleep was worth it. I can't wait to see Issy and Pierre's book. This was a great setup for the rest of the series. There wasn't a ton of hockey and I was ok with that. Also, can we get a Paradise Island for normal people?!!!
Absolutely loved this one! Super spicy, lots of drama and a sex club.
Harper Rose finds her boyfriend bent over his secretary. What does she do? Heads down to the Paradise Club Resort, where all of your wildest dreams can come true.
She finds Felix St. Pierre on the boat on the way to the resort, after finding his girlfriend with his teammate. Turns they actually know of each other.
Harper shows Felix the ropes… literally.
What happens when you start to fall for the person at the resort? What happens when Harper’s ex doesn’t want to be an ex?
Juvenile and crass, both in language and characters. I didn't like anyone in this; for someone supposedly from high society, Harper has no class whatsoever and Felix is basically still a frat boy. None of them respect friendship boundaries and were carelessly interfering in each other's lives, blindsiding bffs by arranging hated exes to stay at their homes, absolutely ludicrous..
I don't remember any other book by this author being of such poor standard and not sure if I'll be reading the next book.
Great start to a new series. Harper and Felix meeting on the way to Paradise is interesting even more interesting is they have mutual friends. Hot younger hockey player meets older wealthy sexually open woman means FUN on the island! Like other JA Low’s books lots of HOT sexy scenes, fun banter and some mystery. Love that we get some favorite characters showing up from other series she’s written. I look forward to more in the series.
