Rate this book
Morgan Pritchett doesn't need anyone. Strong-willed and confident, she's the master of organizing and looking after everyone around her. In her mind, she's bulletproof.

But she has one weakness - men. She can't seem to live without them, yet is unable to find her perfect match. After yet another break up, Morgan promises her sister and best friend that she'll write off men for the rest of the year...but then she meets Sean Jaxon.

Sean Jaxon has worked hard to become a Hollywood actor, scoring minor roles and slowly making a name for himself as an action sidekick. After a chance encounter with the stunning Morgan Pritchett, he decides to take a risk and put his dancing skills to the test by signing on for the lead role in Superstar, a TV musical. He never thought he'd reconnect with the girl who urged him to ignore his manager and be honest with himself, but when Morgan shows up on the set as a production assistant, he realizes he's found his ultimate weakness - her.

Their passion for dance and music will bring them together, but will their relationship be able to withstand the forces determined to pull them apart? As Morgan comes face-to-face with her long-buried demons and Sean decides just how much he's willing to risk for love, these two songbirds discover something...they're not as bulletproof as they thought.

4.5 out of 5 stars

I couldn't of been more happy when I had the opportunity to get an ARC and be part of another big day for Melissa Pearl. Ever since I read Fever (Songbird Novel #1) I have been a big fan and I have participated in everything I could in regards to her book events. I absolutely loved Ella and Cole they are my favorite couple so far but I absolutely loved Morgan and Sean. Melissa couldn't of described them better. They are both bulletproof.

Morgan has always been the strong one and in Fever I saw her as a mother figure. To actually get inside her head and feel the emotions right along with her was intense. I had no clue as to what Morgan dealt with in her past and still continues to deal with. She is a strong woman but sometimes you need someone to lean on and Morgan tried to take everything head on. She reminds me of myself sometimes. Morgan is stressed out because she recently graduated and she can't find a job. One night she is taken away to club by Ella and Jody after her recent breakup to let loose. They all do karaoke on stage and they kill it. In comes Sean the actor. He watches the girls but Morgan is the one who catches his attention. He can't help but be pulled by her and they talk but he is famous and she is not so they won't ever meet again right? Wrong.

So let me tell you a little bit about Sean before I move on the their relationship. So Sean comes from a humble background and family. They didn't have much as kids but now Sean has everything. He has everything he ever wants. He is famous and he likes his acting career but one thing is missing. He wants to feel alive in his acting and after his brief encounter with Morgan he decides to take a chance on a TV musical where he can sing and dance.

Morgan is rejected from another job but they call her back after some time and offer her a position. She is going to be doing little tasks like getting coffee or things like that and she accepts because no one else has offered her a job. So of course this is where they meet again at the TV show. Sean pursues Morgan and they start talking and developing a relationship. Its all good until Sean's manipulative and ugh horrible manager (or whoever she is) starts saying that Morgan is not good. This creates problems with their relationship and Morgan can't take it. I understand this because she wants someone to pick her and she needs someone to lean on. She can't be alone and strong anymore. She needs someone strong now that will help her.

AGH I hated this, more specifically Sean for being so dumb! I was so angry and this part brought out all the feels for me. I'm not going to share it because I want you to find and feel it out for yourselves. I just wanted to share my anger but now I am done (I think). Oh yeah how could I forget the worst person in the book. He seriously topped my most hate list characters. He is both Morgan and Sean's boss. Ugh I seriously hate him. He is the worst person ever. Anyway, get this book pronto and if you haven't read Fever then it is a must read first. These books will have you on edge, especially the first one.

I enjoyed this book but just like the first one in this series it doesn’t have any big twists or surprises in it. Just an enjoyable love story. This author has a way of sucking me into her books.

A-M-A-Z-I-N-G!! This book was Melissa Pearl's best book thus far! I know she is still new to the NA Genre but she is doing it beautifully and I can not wait to continue to read her novels! Her songbird series are a hit combining powerful storylines, strong females, wonderful male characters to swoon for, and awesome integration of music!

The storyline for Bulletproof follows, Morgan Pritchett, who is the BFF of Ella from Fever. Morgan is portrayed as a strong woman in her early 20's who just graduated and is trying to find a job in order to begin her life after college. This is an extremely relevant struggle for many graduates that find themselves with fancy university B.A.s and yet nothing but rejection after rejection from applications to employers. Morgan desperate for anything takes a job as a lowly runner for a producer. It's there that Morgan crosses paths once again with the sexy Sean Jackson "Mr.Bulletproof" as fate would have it he listened to Morgan's advice from a previous chance meeting and took a chance on a new show that would take his career and image him from a sidekick action star to a softer friendly man who can dance and sing, which is a sexy combo.

Things really heat up between those Morgan and Sean rather quickly, and one can guess what will ensue for those two, especially when their relationship is in Hollywood. However what makes this book so much more than a cliche will they or won't they type romance novel is the points of Morgan's self realizations throughout the book. Put simply (though there is nothing simple about it) Morgan is a girl who had to grow up too fast and was forced to forgo her dreams in order to care for her father and sister, shouldering responsibilities that weren't meant for her, but were left vacant by the abrupt departure of her mother, leaving her resentful and lonely but constantly busy to ensure she never dwelt on what she lost, which was her dreams, innocence, childhood and family. I must say Morgan's character really drew me into this story, perhaps because I'm the oldest and feel for her sense of responsibilities or maybe my heart hurts for her because she reminds me of my mother's relationship to her mom. Either way I credit all emotional ties to the characters to Melissa Pearl's amazing writing skills, she took me on a roller coaster of emotions from wanting to get up and dance to wanting to take a drive with my sister and then hold her tight to wanting to cry for the characters and their circumstances they find and put themselves in. Pearl's emotional writing skills have only grown each time she writes a story and this book showcase that splendidly.

Overall, this is definitely a must be read and once read, share with all you know. There is plenty to be loved and possible cried over. Oh and if you are like me and love to dance and sing to release stress and relax then you'll especially love this book. I love the music integrated throughout the book and since I have every song listed in the playlist Melissa Pearl provides in the beginning, I suggest doing as I did and making a quick playlist on your iPod to play while listening, helps make the book more movie like. This book is filled with many awesome moments but I'll treat you to a favorite quote from Morgan, "By the time I work my way through all this, I'm gonna be freaking titanium!" All I got say is sing it Girl! Sing it!

Should I count the ways in which I LOVE Melissa Pearl's writing? Bulletproof is a wonderful addition to The Songbird Series, an amazing NA series. I'm usually not much of an NA fan. There's always something that turns me off the book, and then I can never overcome it. That is not the case with Melissa Pearl's Bulletproof.

Sean and Morgan are a dynamic couple. From the very start, I loved Sean! He was just so swoony! Morgan showed a lot of strength. Her character developed so well over the story. The romance between her and Sean is just so lovely! Count me on Team Sorgan!

This story has a wonderful pace that keeps you invested. I was unable to put down Bulletproof and just flew right through it! Fans of romance will be drawn to the story of Morgan and Sean. I have no doubt in that!

Melissa Pearl is on a roll... she goes from strength to strength with each novel she releases and this is certainly no exception. Bulletproof is totally swoon-worthy from the start with some seriously sexy characters with smouldering chemistry who can dance. Yes, dance. I LOVE that about this book, that music and dancing is what brings the main couple together and then features throughout (and the fact that the main guy is totally HOT!).
I'd love to see Buletproof on the big screen, I reckon it would make a fabulous movie - or a TV show within a TV show (you have to read it to understand what I mean!). Melissa certainly knows how to bring a book alive.
This is the perfect second novel in the Songbird series (but could easily be read as a standalone) and I cannot wait to read what comes next.

Interesting story but it made me angry in so many ways.

The selfishness of some of these characters was totally unbelievable! Morgan deserves so much more than the hand she was dealt! Her mom fled to Vegas to pursue her singing career, leaving 14 year old Morgan to raise Jody, her younger sister. As a result, Morgan was forced to give up her dream to be a professional dancer.

In addition, forced to take a job with the most vile person ever, I hated that Sean, Morgan's so called actor boyfriend, kept her hidden like a dirty little secret and didn't punch out his boss when he spoke to Morgan like she was a stupid imbecile.

4.5 stars -- OMG, I was sucked into this one right from the start.  I had just finished trying to read a different book and was super frustrated and cranky, so even though it was after midnight I knew I needed a different taste in my mouth in order to fall asleep, so I started Bulletproof.  MISTAKE!  Then began an endless stream of "just one more chapter, just one more chapter."  GAH!  And while my tired eyes failed me and I only got a few hours in, I gobbled the rest of the book up the next day.

Morgan intrigued the heck out of me in Fever.  She was this strong, forthright girl who seemed very confident in everything she did.  And she honestly was everything I thought she was, but she was also more.  She is honestly one of the most unique heroines I've read.  She was vulnerable in a way I don't think I read about a lot.  We really get a great glimpse into what has made her into the girl she is today, someone who honestly feels as though they have to be "bulletproof", has to contain their emotions, and who went from having responsibility thrust upon them too young to not being able to function without taking charge.  She was so conflicted within herself, so damaged, but so determined that that was her lot in life.  I also enjoyed that she was a very sexual girl who truly enjoyed sex, but also used it as a means of feeling self-worth.  Because I honestly think that a girl can be both of those things; so often we see the damage, and it makes it seem as though a girl can't enjoy sex.  I wish she'd had a smoother road on that one, but then it wouldn't be Morgan you know?  She really had a crazy journey to go on, and my heart ached for her.  She made some very poor choices in this book at times, but that just made her more real I guess.  I think her one choice near the end would have turned me off in any other book, but for some reason I was ok with how Morgan got to that point.  It fit her character, as much as it pains me to say that.  She was flawed.  And maybe she needed to hit that point in order to wake up and confront her demons.

Wow, sorry, that got long.  All that to say, while I really am nothing like Morgan, I really loved her in the end, despite all her flaws.  And as a fellow tall girl, I LOVED having a tall girl as a heroine.  We have our own unique challenges, and I loved that she wasn't self-conscious about it.  I also loved that she was a dancer, and a great one, because so often dancers are always petite.  Nicely done Ms. Pearl.

And then we get to Sean.  Damn, but he had his own flaws too.  I feel like again, as in Fever, I felt more for the heroine's journey than the hero's.  He did have his own journey to go on, but I felt like we didn't get to dive quite as deep with him.  I loved that we got to see him struggle with his poor upbringing, and that he was easily swayed and influenced about his own worth in the industry.  It shows that while he may look confident to the outside world, he is struggling to believe in himself as well.  He disappointed me as well, but like with Morgan, I kind of understood why he made certain poor choices.  He had his own journey to go on, to grow and come into his own.

And I ADORED their courtship.  I loved that circumstances meant they actually were forced to go slow and get to know each other.  I LOVED how nervous Sean was, but how instantly drawn to Morgan he was.  And holy cow, their chemistry!!  Seriously, reading about them dancing was just hot (even if I couldn't always picture the moves that were described)!  But yeah, you could really feel what drew them together, and while there was a strong physical attraction component, I felt their connection in other ways too.

I can't decide how I feel about Rhonda and Travis.  It's not that I don't honestly believe there are people out there like that, but occasionally they felt a little over the top.  I believed Rhonda a bit more, but with Travis, I couldn't help but wonder why no one else wanted to intervene.

I LOVED seeing Ella and Cole happy together.  I'm very intrigued about Jody's story, and I appreciated how Morgan had to deal with stepping back from her usual Mother role as well.  And I LOVED Isabella, for both Sean and Morgan!!  I also loved the advice that Morgan got from Grandma Deb, and Sean got from his Mom.

So yeah.  Definitely a hit.  This book may have had its moments that broke my heart, made me cringe for the characters, but I think that made the end of the journey that much more satisfying!

(Copy Provided for an honest review)

Morgan Pritchett has had a bad history with guys. Her last relationship ended in a disaster and after that, she’s sworn off men and relationships. Everything seems to be working until she meets rising acting star, Sean Tate. She gives him a piece of her mind regarding pursuing his dreams, never knowing how much it affected him. A couple days later, she finally finds a job as an assistant to a TV series director to find Sean as the leading male protagonist. They instantly hit it off, but they soon find out that love takes a lot more effort and sacrifice then they expected.

I had nothing but high hopes coming into Bulletproof and I was definitely not disappointed. Melissa Pearl delivers a story of a strong headed woman who has been forced to be bulletproof for her entire life. Bulletproof against the world and its taunts. Morgan was a fantastic protagonist in that you got to see her flaws and her strengths and absolutely love her for it. Throughout the years, her bulletproof armor has gotten so dented by the blows that the world has given her, she just doesn’t know if she can keep going for much longer. Along with all the taunts, she finds herself comparing her life to her mother’s. Is she really so desperate for attention that she can’t stand on her own two feet?

With Sean, Morgan slowly begins the repair her damaged armor, but there’s still that one kink that can’t be fixed. Their relationship is already strongly rooted in love, but it’s also shrouded in secret and that is something that bothers her a lot. Sean was a fantastic person as well, he gave you the feels and you got little goose bumps when he lost himself to the beat of music and dancing. Both he and Morgan have this burning passion that completely engulfs you regardless of your views toward music and dancing.

In addition to writing a perfectly beautiful romance, Melissa Pearl also addresses the strengths and weaknesses of family. Morgan and her sister have such a beautiful relationship as they are bonded by the tragedy of their mother abandoning them. Both girls have fears about themselves relating to their mother, but together they find ways to overcome those doubts.

I cannot write this review without mentioning the TV series. Personally, I think it’d be fantastic to see on the big screen. The choreography that is described is vivid and you see it all happening in front of you. There’s also Morgan’s S.O.B. boss who I would love to smack in the head because he’s a douchebag. Oh, another character I want to smack is Sean’s personal agent, you’ll have to read to know what I mean, but that woman drives me nuts. The series is such a vital part of the book, it’s really cool to see it represented as such a big deal instead of becoming second to the romance.

Overall, I really liked this book and Melissa Pearl has definitely done it again! I know this is the second book in a series, but it reads fine as a standalone. Nothing more to see other than go pick this book up! Welcome to the world Bulletproof!!

Morgan & Sean

Morgan Pritchett is a very independent woman. She takes care of the people in her life and doesn’t think twice about it until now. Now it is time that Morgan take care of Morgan. Of course, she still has to take care of her sister Jody who is now pregnant in her 1st year of college with the professors baby and her dad.

Sean Jaxon is a hard working actor who is slowly working his way into the Hollywood ELITE. After a small set-back with an ex-girlfriend his career is on the mend. After meeting a mysterious and beautiful Karaoke Girl he decides to take a different role from his normal ACTION movies. A musical series that is all the rage. And it pays off. He is loving the role and the opportunity to play something outside of his normal and show his acting abilities.

Morgan just graduated college and is having a tough time hunting down a job but finally getting a break she finds herself as a GOFER on a television series set “Superstar” will be a new series starring Sean Jaxon. Morgan can’t believe her luck after running into Sean at a Karaoke bar she did not think she would ever see the Bulletproof actor again.

One thing leads to another and they start dating. Morgan’s boss (and Sean’s boss) treats Morgan like crap. Morgan stands up for herself but is told to quit if she does not like the way she is treated. She wants Sean to stand up for her but if he does his career could be over. The couple struggle and break-up because of this.

Sean figures out he wants Morgan no matter what and rectifies the situation as best he can. But will his career end, will he lose Morgan forever, or will he lose both things in the world that matter most to him.

**This is a very good series and I love it. However, with that being said I do not love that a lot of these stories I am reading have the girl being completely STUPID (not just just storyline). This character is the same way. Morgan knew that Sean could not risk his career yet she got involved with him anyway, she knew he would get fired and never work again but yet demanded him to stand up for her or she was gone…. I dislike these storylines. I’m not sure if FEMALES in general think this way and are stupid when it comes to understanding the basics and are just always playing GAMES but I think being straight forward makes more sense. Maybe it is just me in my real life being more straight forward and to the point and not PLAYING games but I think it is crazy for someone to go into a relationship knowing there is a line that they cannot cross but they think it will be ok if I cross it.

With that being said I like most of the characteristics of Morgan and I love Sean but he did need to be a little tougher than his character. No matter what is at stake you stand up for those you love and want to protect, you do not let people get treated like crap. So Sean needed to MAN UP. This is a basic human need I would think. I also felt that if Morgan could not stand up for herself than no one else should have needed to. It was up to Morgan to PROTECT Morgan.

Rating: 2 STARS (because storyline is getting old)

I was so excited for this book!! I became a Melissa Pearl insta-fan after reading book #1 in the Songbird series, Fever. I was not disappointed with this follow-up!!

Morgan is an amazing character! She's tall, blonde, and sassy. She's fiercely independent, strong willed, courageous. And those traits were unfairly forced upon her. This is where some of the angst comes in... her mother left their family when she was 14. As the oldest, her role became - mother. She is the first one to jump into action and proverbially save the day. She takes no time to worry about her actions and feelings. Morgan just shuts them in a corner of her mind and pushes on as the rock. I really felt for her and found myself confused and angry. Upset that this poor girl had given up her dreams to take care of her family at 14! Couldn't imagine fathom all she's endured. And practically alone. The hardships she's faced. She's stone-walled all her emotions and for what?!

"I can't keep giving out everything to everyone... When's my turn to be taken care of? When's someone going to look after me?...I need you to fight for me Sean!" - Morgan

Sean is a movie star. A very tall, very sexy, man with dark hair and blue eyes. Morgan describes him as 'chocolate'. Sweet as sin! He's trying to move on from a very public situation. When he meets Morgan briefly in a bar, he knows the right thing to do is not to be seen with another woman... but he can't forget her. In a turn of events, he finds her working as an assistant on his next project and things between them develop quickly. I'd say there was a large amount of insta-loving going on. Generally I'm not a fan of relationships that heat up that quickly, however, the character development couldn't have been more perfect. The chemistry they shared, the needs they fulfilled for each other. So eloquently written!

"I need you. I need your skin. I need your touch. I need your lips." - Sean

There are fantastic secondary characters!! Good and bad. The loyalty of friendship and family and their dynamics unfold beautifully. The end result is a happy one that leaves me thursting for more!

One of the best parts of this book, this series even, is the incorporation of music throughout!! The playlist, listed in the beginning of the book, flows perfectly with the scenes that are set forth with them!! I've noticed many authors doing this... yay!! I just love it!

Bulletproof can be read as a stand-alone, however, reading in order may give you the added benefit of character connection. Oh, and, I hate Rhonda. That is all.

I was very excited to get Morgan's story. I knew from meeting her in Fever that she was a complex character. Getting to know her, what makes her tick, and seeing her in love for real was a pleasure! Bulletproof is told in alternating POV between Morgan and Sean, which I love.

Morgan was made to grow up way before her time. Her mother walked away from their family when Morgan was 14, leaving her to step into the role of caretaker for her father and younger sister. This is how she began honing her skills in organization and in taking care of everyone around her. Morgan shaped herself into a strong woman - never letting any guy get too close. Oh, she always had a guy around but it was more for the physical release they provided. Then she meets Sean Jaxon. He's different - affects her differently than any guy before him.

Sean Jaxon is finally making it as an actor. Having suffered a media nightmare with a girlfriend, he's looking to score a role that will polish his image. When he meets Morgan, she convinces him to take a role he's dying to take even though his manager doesn't think it's a good move. Filming begins and he's delighted to see his karaoke girl is working on set. However, dating proves to be difficult as he's always trying to protect her from the media.

One of the things I love most about NA is watching as these new adults figure out the world, their place in it, and what they want from it. Both Morgan and Sean thought they knew what they wanted - particularly when it came to personal relationships. So seeing them realize maybe they'd thought wrong, and try to mold their lives to better fit what they actually wanted was a pleasure. They both have strong family ties - people who could offer the right kind of guidance, so that helped. That the script for Sean's show closely paralleled his life was clever. And watching Morgan realize she wasn't bulletproof but make strides towards being the strong woman she wants to be was a treat. That music and dance were such integral elements to the story added to my enjoyment. Bulletproof was an engaging story. I got a glimpse of Ella and Cole (from Fever), which was nice. And I got to know Morgan's little sister, Jody, better. I'm anxious to get Jody's story next!

4.5 out of 5 stars

I’ll have to admit, I wasn’t as into this one as the first book, which I absolutely adored! It just had a completely different vibe than the first. But, good vibes. ;)
Morgan is wanting to find love like her best friend Ella did. But how? It can’t be that easy… Morgan is having trouble finding a job and this has been going on for months. Until she gets a call from a TV set working to serve the producer… Who is a COMPLETE jerk and is the reason why the previous girl who worked for him quit. This isn’t going to be an easy job that’s for sure. Little does she realize a famous guy, whom she’s been crushing on is actually the star in this show she’s working for. But is all the fame and paparazzi worth being with Sean when his last girlfriend almost ruined his acting career for him?

I think my biggest problem as to why I didn’t like this one as much as Fever, is because it was a little hard to relate with Morgan’s story. I haven’t read that many actor/Hollywood type books and haven’t come across many characters who are like this.. So it was a little difficult to really understand and relate with Morgan. But I did love the overall story and her love story. Sean was definitely swoon-worthy that’s for sure! I absolutely loved how he’s a complete sweetheart and gentleman. There were certain scenes where I became putty because of the way he acted and what he would say.

I KNEW one of the things that happened in this book (won’t tell you to avoid spoilers) would happen. The second it was introduced, I could immediately put the pieces together and figure out what was about to happen like 50 pages later.

I’m excited to see Jody’s love story next– she is Morgan’s little sister. :)

*I received an ARC of this book free from Mark My Words Book Publicity in exchange for an honest review*

Morgan is just trying to get a long in life. She’s taken care of her father, raised her sister, and now it’s time for her to move forward. Though that’s easier said than done. Job offers aren’t exactly flowing her way and when one finally does come she desperately takes it even though it’s way below her capabilities. But sometimes with pain comes happiness. And her happiness comes in the form of Sean Jaxon.

Sean’s a great guy, but one bad paparazzi shot and the whole world jumps on the band wagon against him. He doesn’t need any more bad publicity or another scandal in the headlines if he wants his career to stay on track, but ever since he met Morgan at a karaoke bar he hadn’t been able to forget about her or how her words influenced him to follow the path he’d taken. And now she’s working on his set as the new runner. To him its fate.

Fate isn’t always as simple as two people falling in love though. The outside world can impact its outcome more than we’d like. Sean wants it all – the career and the secret girlfriend he can hide away from the press. Morgan just wants a man who’ll stand beside her and stand up for her and slinking around in the shadows can only last so long before it becomes suffocating.

I enjoyed reading Bulletproof. It doesn’t just give you the happily ever after, it shows how real life sometimes gets in the way and most importantly it shows how you have to fight for love when it’s really worth it. Thank you Sean’s mama for explaining that to him!

My Favorite Moment: I liked it when Sean finally got to see Morgan dance her heart out. She might not have known he was watching, but he was. The only thing that would have made it better would have been reading it from his POV.

>Book review - Bulletproof

>This is the second book in the Songbird Series and ends with an HEA.

>Morgan is a young woman forced to give up her passions and dreams at the age of 14 in order to help raise her younger sister after her mother walks out. Morgan has always been the reasonable, strong type and it seems a lot of people are dependent upon her.

>Sean is a young, up and coming star. He is starring in a "Glee" like tv show that will give him his big break. He sees Morgan on the set one day. She is a new runner being verbally abused by the director. They begin a relationship that needs to stay under wraps as his popularity takes off. How secret is secret, when Morgan needs someone to stand up for her and the support people that Sean listens to are advising him to keep his distance?

>This story was a good one, I only had exception to a very few things that didn't quite fit.Morgan is portrayed as smart, strong and capable, but she describes her personal life as a series of one night stands. A strong, smart, capable person doesn't seem the type to disrespect herself in that way. The second issue I had was that of race, or the lack of it. The difference in race between Morgan and Sean was never an issue in the story. It really shouldn't be, but race tacky descriptions were used that were a bit odd. Morgan described kissing Sean, by saying she loved kissing his big lips. Really? That was one odd description.

>Aside from those things, the book was paced well. The life behind the scenes seemed pretty realistic, which is interesting to a non famous person to see and experience. The romance was sweet and Morgan's growth was inspiring.

> This book is for an adult (18+) audience due to sexual content.

I received this book from Mark My Words Book Publicity in return for a fair and honest review.

So Bulletproof is Morgan's story. She is the eldest of the trio and came across in Fever as very much a mother figure. This time, though, we get to see WHY she is the way she is and how she really feels behind the mask that she wears for everyone. She is always the strong one, nothing can hurt her, she's bulletproof... or is she?!

This is an amazing story in its own right and not just as the second book in a series. Morgan is a brilliant character and the way you learn about her - her fears, foibles, hopes and dreams - take you along for a ride. It's a bumpy one, mind you. Nothing is going quite as she thought it would when she was in college but then nothing usually is!

Sean is the other main character in this book and I have mixed feelings about him. On the one hand, I like that he came from 'humble' beginnings, had an honest outlook and naively thought that everyone else would have the same. He couldn't see it when someone was working against him. However, those same qualities drove me insane throughout the book until I was huffing and puffing like the big bad wolf whenever I felt he was doing something stupid! Thank goodness for his mum who certainly knew how to set him straight! I loved her!!

I'm keeping this review short(ish) because I don't want to give away any of the storyline. You really do need to read this book for yourself to fully appreciate it. What I can do is highly recommend it and say you'd be a fool to miss it. Looking forward to Jodi's story which is due out very soon.

Another good read in the Songbird series.

I’d been looking forward to this book for a while. I really liked Fever and I’m pleased to say I enjoyed Bulletproof just as much. I love the dual perspective writing, the way music is so thoroughly incorporated into the story, and of course the unique storylines and interesting characters. Morgan was a fantastic character. I loved the way she was so strong and determined to take care of everyone in her life. I also liked the way she was human and had to eventually with her own issues with her mother instead of putting it off and burying her dreams because she felt she had to be taking care of everyone else. I also liked Sean’s character and liked the way he didn’t let his growing fame get to his head and still kept up with his family – even if he sort of resented how poor he used to be and how crowded his family home could be. It took him quite a while to grow a spine and be willing to step on some toes to be there for Morgan properly, but he did it eventually so it all worked out in the end. The thing I like most about this book and the rest of Melissa Pearl’s stories is the variety. It’s never the same thing twice. From fantasy to paranormal to contemporary romance - I never know quite what I’m getting into every time I pick up another one of her books; all I know is that I’ll end up loving it.

I would recommend this book if you’re looking for a contemporary new adult romance with great characters and plenty of music. It’s an excellent read and well worth the time.

Just Dance....

Bulletproof, the second book in the songbird series by Melissa Pearl is amazing. I absolutely adore Morgan, I was curious about her when she showed up as one of Ella’s good friends in book one, Fever and to finally get to read her story is thrilling.

She has spent her entire life so far being a mother figure to her sister Jody and her best friend Ella, but now its time for her life to start taking off. It’s not easy, but it’s Morgans time to shine and and live out her dreams. She is a strong independent woman and she is determined to find her path in life.

and then we have Sean, a man who is plagued by the paparazzi because of his stardom, who wants nothing more then to have a normal relationship and to be able to live out his dreams without any scandals.

Can Love, Fate and the love of Dance and Music bring these two together, or will life’s obstacles keep them apart? I suggest you pick up this book and come on Morgan and Sean’s journey of self discovery. You will find more then just a simple love story in this novel. You will find two young adults coming into there own and trying to figure out all that life can bring them.

"Bulletproof" by Melissa Pearl is Book 2 in the Songbird series, but can be read as a stand alone book. I haven't read book 1 in this series, but didn't feel as if there was any missing info in the book.

Morgan meets Sean, TV Star, at a karaoke bar and there is immediate chemistry but they don't hook up. She looks for work after graduating college but after tons of interviews she finally takes a job as a runner at a local studio, that Sean happens to be filming a new TV show at. They start a secret relationship but Morgan is very unhappy being hidden but tries to be happy. Her sister Jody has been acting weird for months and shows up on her doorstep one night, and thus begins Morgan being responsible for Jody once again. Due to some issues from Morgan's past she's unable to move forward in her life, can she face the past in order to have a wonderful future?

Melissa Pearl is one of my favorite authors and I'm never disappointed with her writing! If you like books like Save the Last Dance then this would be a great book for you!

~~I received this is exchange for an honest review~~

I love reading Melissa Pearl's books. She always seems to have something in her books that make her main character learn something about themselves. In this case, Morgan had to learn to take care of herself before she took care of everyone else. But at the same time, Sean had to learn to stand up and fight for what he wants.

This is a great series! There is something artistic in the books that make the book beautiful! Morgan gave up everything to take care of her sister and dad. Sean came from nothing and works very hard at what he does. But when they are together, they are perfect. They complete each other. Where one is weak the other is strong.

The book is beautifully written. There is grace and love in this book. Melissa doesn't hold back when she writes. She writes what she is feeling and she isn't ashamed of showing those through her writing.

Sean a famous actor and Morgan an average girl looking for a job meet one day randomly in an unlikely place. Both can't seem to get the other out of their mind after that one night. It's over and they will never see the other again until... Morgan ends up with a job on Sean's tv show set. Each of these characters can't forget that night they met briefly. They befriend each other and the sparks fly. Morgan and Sean find they have many things in common and "yowza" they have hot chemistry.

Can these two make a relationship or friendship even work? Their love of music brings these two souls together but will it be enough to keep them together or will their relationship be doomed before it starts? Grab a Copy today and read Sean & Morgan's story!!!

A wonderful edition to this fabulous series. I loved Fever and grew to love all the characters, including Morgan. In Bulletproof we get her story and man is it a roller coaster. She hasn't had it easy and that's not gonna change. She is such a strong character and you admire her from the get go but as her story unfolds you gain more and more respect for her. Sean was lovable from page one then he does some things that make you want to slap him, even if he thinks he's doing the right thing, but when he makes a comeback you better look out. I loved these two and how much they grew individually and together.

What a wonderful story. Her characters where simply stunning. They way
Melissa Writes just draws you into the story, so much so you cry along when
Their sad and so happy when they are. And the dace in this was so descriptive
I could see it in my mind, and it was truly beautiful. The fact that her main
character Morgan is so strong and independent was very refreshing. And it
takes Sean some time to grow and become the man his mother raised him to be
I am looking forward to reading the next book about Jody and hope I don't want
to Kill the teacher in the story ( you will understand it when you read this book)

This is another great read from Melissa Pearl. Every scene was well thought off and you can really feel the emotion flowing from them. It's like watching a movie. I love how she have woven the story as well as the characters. I like how Ella and Isabella was supportive as friends, Morgan's strength, Sean's indecision, all of them played well into unfolding the story. I even like the b*tch character of Rhonda and Travis being an *ssh*ole. And of course, Jody is something to look forward to. This book would be a good holiday read if you are looking for one.

Once again Melissa Pearl has a hit. I have to say I didn’t think she could top Fever her previous but she proved me wrong. I love that we see more of Morgan in this one and why she is like she is well Bulletproof. Sean is the man for her and talk about the passion between them is hot. Morgan is not complete unless she has Sean for the love they share is one that scares and excites her. Loved it and want more now of Melissa Pearl.

I somehow missed this one, having jumped from book 1 to book 3 and onwards. It didn't matter though as these are all standalones. This a fantastic series combining romance and music seamlessly to create a beautiful story. Whilst in the others of this series, the music stood out, it seemed to fly under the radar a bit in this one but every song used was meaningful to the story. Another sweet, romantic read. Awesome!

I truly enjoyed this story from beginning to end. This author always finds a way to keep you hooked. Morgan and Jaxon were beautifully flawed. They had real problems that most couples could related to. I loved all the music and dancing featured in this book. It was so fun and exciting to see what song would be featured next. I am super excited to see what Jody's book will be like.
