I am a traditionally published and Indie author that hails from sunny England (I lie, it's not really that sunny here!) I'm a hopeless romantic, so of course my main writing focus is romance. I love to create swoon-worthy males that steal your breath! I write mature YA, new adult and contemporary romance novels.

As well as being a writer I'm also an avid reader, mum to one little boy, proud chocoholic and an absolute beast at Lego PlayStation games.

If I had to sum myself up in one word, it would probably be 'daydreamer' - but unlike most of my school teachers, I don't necessarily view that as a bad thing. After all, I read somewhere once that books are like waking dreams...

I have to admit, I was left disappointed after reading this. Personally it was the result of my expectation and the reality being Poles Apart and much like the chafe of the Pole, it rubbed me the wrong way.

I found Emma, the female protagonist to be one of the most annoying I have come across in a long time. This was mainly was due to what I believe was a lack of maturity and back bone. She is forced at a young age to take care of herself and her younger brother, in doing so she works as a waitress come lap/pole dancer in a Gentleman’s Club. Don’t misunderstand me, I don’t frown on this in fact it was what drew me to it when I read the blurb. I had imagined a feisty, in your face woman, unashamed at what she had to do to make ends meet; which was not the case.

 photo 15B13DF9-49EF-47B5-BD06-B6ED410A51BB_zpswibi6ro9.jpg

So then I looked to Carson to save the day, in his case I imagined him to have all the trappings of a playboy, successful on and off the track. A bad boy focused on winning, with a soft spot for Emma – maybe even the struggle of changing his ways for her once and for all. Once again, it was not the case.

Whilst working in the club, Emma came to know and fall in love with one of it's patrons. Carson Matthews, the young up and coming Grand Prix Motorcycle driver and eligible bachelor. The attraction is still palpable even after Emma's long leave of absence and they pick up where they left of. Before a certain turn of events, the "relationship" between them never ventures outside the confines of the club; they go without seeing each other for weeks at a time and spend the time they do have together frequenting the clubs back room (paid for, of course!). Over to you NeNe:

 photo 084FE5E9-8FF9-4542-8916-AEBD5FA7CED3_zpsebvwy7oj.gif

In the nicest way possible, I don't have much to say about Carson. I found him seriously lacking, boring even. I never felt attached to him in anyway and don’t even feel as though I got to know him. Yes, the story was told from Emma’s POV but if I could legitimately feel he was a bit of a sap then it’s also fair to say I could have formed another opinion of him also. I do have to give him a pat on the back though for dealing with Emma.

My main issues were:

Carson and Emma are rather young, Emma certainly has been through experiences most wouldn’t have at her age. I do sympathise with her in that regard, however because of this I expected a certain maturity from her, which wasn't evident. It may well be that I am being too harsh on her, them as a couple and the story as a whole but unfortunately it didn’t work for me. From the story to the dialogue, it was more flash in the pan than Flashdance.

Emma has been struggling for years, but she does what she needs to do to survive and she doesn’t like help for other people. She’s a fighter. Emma is also loving, sweet, smart, independent and hard working. Carson is kind, talented, passionate, rich and caring. He’s one of the best drivers in the motor circuit and he loves doing it. Driving is his life, until he gets together with Emma.

I love it when people from different worlds find each other and fall in love. Emma works at a strip club and Carson is a famous driver. Carson visited the strip club one day and he was immediately attracted to Emma. She’s the reason he keeps visiting that club. Emma fell in love with Carson before he became famous and rich. She keeps those feelings hidden, because she doesn’t expect those feelings to ever be returned. Emma and Carson get together, but it won’t be easy and it doesn’t start in the best way.

I was excited to start Poles Apart, but I struggled a lot with this book and I wanted to quit reading a few times. There were some things that I liked and that kept me reading, but I wasn’t the biggest fan of the main characters. The secondary characters, on the other hand, were great.

I absolutely loved this story. Kirsty has taken me on a crazy, emotional roller-coaster ride with this one and I freaking loved every bit of the journey. Move over all of my current book boyfriends because I've found a new one!! Carson Matthews was a hot, gorgeous, sexy MotoGP racing driver. I was in love!! lol. Carson met Emma whilst visiting the lap dancing club that she worked at. He had eyes only for Emma and every weekend, he was there just for her. The pair embarked on a unique relationship. As the story progressed it was clear that both wanted more and it seemed like it was time to take the relationship away from the club.
Only one man got behind my defences. Only one man was allowed to touch me. Only one man was allowed to make me feel like I was in heaven. Carson Matthews.

Emma was a sweet girl who I loved. She wasn't the usual type of girl I would associate with a lap dancing club but I soon discovered the reasons behind her career choice. Emma's life was a difficult one. Everyday was a struggle for her and my heart went out to her. Despite her problems, Emma was attempting to make the best of a bad situation. She didn't complain and was determined to make a better life for herself. I truly admired her for this and I was so happy that she had found some happiness with Carson.
He was always like this: tender, adoring, gentle. It didn't feel like sex, it felt like he was making love to me. It had always felt the same, like we were connected: one person, one soul, one entity.
Emma and Carson were hot together. They had so much chemistry between them and I adored watching their relationship develop. I was certain that this was going to be like a modern day Cinderella story. Emma would go from rags to riches with Carson by her side. I couldn't help but get excited for the pair. I loved how Carson woo'ed Emma, the things that he did made me squeal like a little girl. I was giddy with joy for this couple and I was convinced that a happy ending was in sight.
When Carson kissed me, I felt like I could do anything and be anyone.

Even though Emma and Carson made the perfect couple, there was quite a few problems that emerged as the story continued and of course, there was Emma's secret. I did not expect that one at all! So maybe my joy was a little premature. Suddenly Emma and Carson's relationship was not so perfect. My heart was breaking with every page that I read. I needed chocolate to help me through the heart ache. Maybe, there wasn't going to be a fairytale ending after all.

Carson completely surprised me during this part of the story. He exposed a new side to him that I really did not like. I was utterly confused by his actions and I wondered if what I was seeing was the real Carson. Poor Emma, she was in shock over what was happening to her. I didn't blame her for the way she reacted. Unfortunately I became a little frustrated with how the couple were handling things. It was crushing me to see them behave as they did. Surely they could work things out. I was rooting for them every step of the way.
This was all I was to him. A body, nothing more. Something for him to get his kicks with, just like he did with hundreds of other girls.
"Poles Apart" was a fantastic read. I was hooked from the very first page and devoured it in one afternoon. I enjoyed everything about it, even the heartbreak and the stomach churning moments. There was a scene where I wanted to cover my eyes. I was so worried about what would happen next. Once you read it, you will know which part I mean. My heart was in my mouth!

So would I recommend this book? What do you think? A big fat yes!!! This one gets 5 Amazing Hearts from me!

Poles between them.

Excellent story. Loved each and every part of it. Emma was a wonderful young woman who was alone .raising her younger brother and trying to keep food on the table. She worked in a bar to make ends meet. She also had a big secret.plus the love her life no one new about. A motor cross racer.

I absolutely loved loved loved this book. Kirsty Moseley has done a fabulous job. ! I have read her book "The boy who sneaks in my bedroom window" as well, and i did like it too, but this one was something beyond 'par excellence' :)
I was so excited to get my hands on this book, I just straightaway dived into it as soon as i got one and finished it within 24 hours. yeah it was such a page turner
I loved the characters a lot. Emma & Carson. Actually, you know what, um i liked Emma and i LOVED Carson :P

description

The story was very well written. I personally liked it and i guess that's all that matters.

Only one man got behind my defenses. Only one man was allowed to touch me. Only one man was allowed to make me feel like I was in heaven. Carson Matthews.

Emma was a lap dancer, yet a sweet, innocent struggler woman. I really liked her character and the chemistry between Carson & her, but in the end at some points I felt angry at her but may be that was the part of story as she was the one going through all that stuff. so, nevermind.!

Carson was a hot sexy MotoGP racing driving. I loved his character, his caring nature, the way he gave importance to Emma and stood firm for her. Near the very end, he showed his negative side as well,

This was all I was to him. A body, nothing more. Something for him to get his kicks with, just like he did with hundreds of other girls.

but i think he was truly justified for his behavior, after all he still cared & loved her. !!

"POLES APART" was a great read. I would recommend it to everyone :)

I could not for the life of me get into this book.I was sooooo excited to start this because its been on my tbr for a while now and I didn't want to put off reading it anymore. What I'm left feeling right now is pure disapointment.I think this is one of the lowest rating I've EVER given a book and I'm seriously bummed about that.

Emma is dancer who is trying to make ends meet by working in the club. She takes care of her younger brother and at the same time attends University.Carson is a famous bike racer who's been coming to the club and seeing Emma on and off for the past 3 years.

Now when you have a heroine who is annoying the crap out of you and the hero who you don't give a shit about, you know you have a SERIOUS problem.

She's in love with Carson but doesn't say anything.

She is keeping this huge secret from him because she doesn't want to RUIN his career.

W.T.F

This just left me overly annoyed and I'm gonna let my girl Tina translate my frustration.

As for that secret, anger was more than necessary for it and quite frankly I'm glad that this is not a series.I'm proud of myself for not DNFing this and now its time for me to move on because I'm over it.

First of all : so much potential for the male lead but the girliest tatts in the world!!

Second of all: Sasha. No just no. The whole thing ridiculous. I just can't.. I don't know where to begin. Can't deal.

Imagine this scenario :

guy goes to strip club (almost every week) and requests the same girl to give him a lap dance in front of his friends and then takes her to the back room to you-know-what and then over pays her for it.

Can't you tell that this is clearly the actions of a guy madly in love?

So what if in all this time he's never asked her out? Surely that fact that he visits her every week and makes her give lap dances to him in front of all his friends makes up for it?

And so what if he sees her become slimmer (due to lack of money) but instead of taking her out for a meal, buys her expensive one-of-a-kind jewelry that he clearly doesn't expect her to sell? Surely the fact that he over pays her makes up for it?

WRONG. It does not in fact make up for it, at least in my eyes.

If you haven't already guessed it, I'm talking about Carson, the supposed "hero" of this book.

But hey, maybe his great reaction to finding out about the daughter that Emma has kept hidden from him will make up for his atrocious behaviour.

"I’ll tell the courts how you can’t afford to live, and how you sell your body to clients at the club. My lawyers will rip you to shreds".

Or not.

Charming, isn't he?
He's also forgetting the fact that he's one of those "clients" that she sells her body to.

Later on when Carson's assuring Emma that all those models he was seen with weren't actually his girlfriends, he tells her that it was all innocent and sometimes he was simply asking "a girl for the time".

I don’t know about anyone else but I found that hilarious.

Imagine this :

Portly old man, married for 25 years tries to convince his wife that he wasn't flirting with the pretty young waitress.
"Oh Barbara, I was just um.. Er.. I was uh, asking her the time."

No one else find that funny? Just me?
OK, swiftly moving on.

Emma, by the way is no star either.
In fact, I found her annoyingly naive.
She's eighteen with a baby, a younger brother and is going to college. How long do you think does she think she can supplement all that just by working in a strip bar? Her brother aims to leave school and get a job to help but she wants him to go to college. How exactly does she expect this to happen? With what money? But just by telling Carson about Emma and asking him to pay child support, all her problems could disappear.
But she doesn't.
Why?
Because she doesn't want to be a burden or tie him down or take his money or something as equally as idiotic. He's had two years of not having a "burden", it's about time he helps.
And taking money from him wouldn't be charity or whatever else she thinks, it would only be practical.

But Emma of course, is completely fine with playing the role of the martyr, dragging down her daughter and brother with her.
And in case you don't believe me, here's an example :

"Trying to make a life with him, living like strangers in a house while he went off and had affair after affair, was going to be my punishment for keeping him in the dark".

See how eager she is to be the sacrificial goat?

Also, there was no where nearly enough references towards poles for this book to called "Poles Apart".
Just sayin'.

I didn't like it. At all.

Emma was kicked out of her home at sixteen by her extremely religious parents for having sex with her boyfriend. Angels Gentlemen’s Club was the only job she could find at the time. On her first night, Emma met Carson who was out celebrating his eighteenth birthday. From that point, Carson came back to the club, at the very least once a week, for drinks and lap dances from Emma. After a couple of months, Carson started paying for sex in the backrooms of the club. It went on for almost three years, minus the few months .

A few things bugged me:

1. Turning teenager sexual exploitation into a love story. Did she really need to be sixteen? Also, while there is plenty of sex shaming, the underage issue isn't addressed at all.

2. He really liked her. He liked her enough to come back whenever he could, to not have , to remember her birthday every year and get her thoughtful gifts, and to get a freaking . But he never did or said anything about it.

3. He became a totally different person when he learn about the . He said and did a lot of things that are, in my opinion, unforgivable.

I've let it marinate in my head and I still don't know how I feel about this book

Emma was kicked out and then disowned by her super strict and religious parents for having sex with her boyfriend. She lied about her age and managed to get a job at a strip club. She hooked up with a guy on his birthday and became pregnant, knowing he was an up and coming racer she hid the pregnancy from him, left and had the baby. Returning to work months later she met him again. Over the years after they continue to hook up in the backroom of the strip club with him paying her every time. Now however he's a famous racer worth millions and still unaware Emma had his child. But with his popularity came paparazzi and soon things spiral out of control and Emma's secret is revealed.

******
While I'll say I couldn't put this book down I also really struggled with parts of it
1) This book is set in London and clearly the author is British. Where I'm from the age of consent is 18 so Carson at 18 having sex with Emma would've been considered statutory rape
2)Emma worked, went to school and supported her younger brother who lived with her. She was a lap dancer but thankfully the only man she went into the backroom with was Carson. The thing is she was struggling so hard, Living in a shit neighborhood barely having food to eat while her child's father was a millionaire off racing all over the world. Why wouldn't she tell him? I judge single parents much differently than any other mcs and having your child Living in those kinds of conditions when the father could've definitely helped provide a better life for her made no sense to me. At that point it wasn't about her or Carson anymore it should've been about Sasha!
3)Carson and Emma continue to hook up, like he'd come into the club, they'd go into the backroom have sex and he'd pay her. He assumed she was sleeping with others and she assumed he was sleeping with others as he was frequently pictured with women while he was away racing.....I just don't get it?
4) The reason for her keeping the secret when he was now starting out was fine but what next? Was she planning to keep the child away from her dad for the rest of her life? How does fucking him for money and struggling to survive while he was Living it up unknowing that he was a father a good idea?
5) When the truth is revealed it's brutal. The public condems her as a gold digging whore and Carson is justifiably upset. He says some truly hurtful things but seriously What'd she expect?
6) then when he demands she and the kids move in she's pissed off?! Taking your child from the shit hole she's living in and giving her a better life was a tough choice for her???? Did she sit on her brain?
7) From the first time that they hooked up she hadn't had sex with anyone else and I assumed from the way he was with her that he hadn't either. Come to find out that in the months that she'd disappeared to have the child he'd been with 2 OW. I couldn't say I blamed him, I mean he was hooking up with a lap dancer and she just disappeared with no warning, explanation or even a note.....but boy I did not like it at all!!!!

All in all there were parts I enjoyed but honestly some parts were really hard to digest because common sense and a simple conversation would've made much more sense

No cheating
h had one boyfriend before meeting the H, no one since she first had sex with him
H had 2 OW when she disappeared for a couple months
None after she returned to work and they continued where they'd left off

5 Wow I loved it Stars:)

I read well actually devoured this book ALL DAY and loved it:) Carson alone my god, 100 Stars, sweet, hot, sexy, simply put pretty damn close to perfect!!!!! Emma, loved her, she was a strong girl who had been through so much in her short life of 19 years and my god, I loved her!!!!! OK, so I read through much of the first half with tears in my eyes and a lump in my throat for Emma....yeah, I was totally "feeling" her every emotion and I truly mean that. My heart broke for her but thank goodness by the end Carson along with Emma, BOTH, mended my heart all back up:)

Their story was hot, sexy, sweet and yeah so FULL of miscommunication and unspoken words....omg, I was frustrated at times with both of them and the way they "didn't" say exactly what they were feeling or just plain "listen" to each other. BUT I had to step back and say they are "kids", I mean hello they were acting like their ages and so for that I could understand it, doesn't mean I liked it, but I got it.

I LOVED the epilogue and "wish" I could have seen even further into their future but gosh I LOVED them and so glad they ended up exactly the way I had hoped for:)

This was my first book by Author Kirsty Moseley and definitely not my last, I enjoyed it immensely!!!!!!

A nice quick read. Not a whole lot of surprises in this a plot that has pretty much been done but a nice easy flowing story.
Just a bit frustrated with women who live in their heads and find themselves never good enough!!

Poles apart

Omg, hooked from the beginning and I couldn't stop reading.... So much chemistry between the lap dancer and young bike racer..... Working there because she left home at 15, meeting him at 18, just starting out in his career..... They really hit it off and he keeps going back, to see her.....

I had all the imagery in my head, so her flat (apartment), bar, his home, racetrack everything came to life and was playing out in my head..... Great characters, chemistry, her brother was a wonderful support. Would love more!

Oh I love Kirsty's writing and I loved this. A real NA book that really took me there and made me feel that after reading glow, you know?

How can anyone find this romantic? Carson was a freaking abusive psychopath! I couldn't even make it through the book because if how awful he was. I usually love Kristy's books, but this just glorified male dominance and bullying. I hated how weak she made Emma. Seriously if a man treats you with such disrespect, you don't let your daughter around him. Ugh I can't get over how terrible I felt after reading what a sleeze ball Carson was. Trust me, it's not romance. It's abuse. Please stop swooning over an abusive asshole and a sad weak girl. Seriously

I LOVED this book!!!!!

I’m so happy that I decided to buy and read this book. I absolutely loved it! Although I had heard very good things about the writer Kirsty Moseley, I hadn’t read a book of hers…. until now. And now I understand why other readers love her books so much because I just fell in love with one of her books myself.

‘Poles apart’ is a new adult story. The story was told from Emma’s POV. This story was a bit emotional, I didn’t expected it but I liked it very much. I liked the buildup of the story and the epilogue at the end. I found Carson and Emma a cute couple and I liked the fact how Carson took care of Emma in his own way.

I will definitely read more books of this writer!!

Poles apart is a really adorable story about a stripper and a famous BIKE racer (lol). I really enjoy reading Ms. Moseley books but man does she need to learn how to write steamy scenes. I hate that she skips over the best parts! lol All in all I really enjoyed this read but besides the missing sex scenes, there was just something missing. I think it's probably because it was a little unbelievable for me that a famous and rich bike racer would be pining for a stripper for years and not doing anything about it. But besides that, it was nice to read. You really have to know more British euphemisms though, some things I had no clue what she was talking about lol.

I was drawn to this because of the stripper-like theme. I'm all for this type of read. However, I didn't like how the story and the characters evolved. Maybe because they were still young and lacked the maturity I was looking for.

It kinda annoyed me that Emma keeps on crying. C'mon now! Once or twice even thrice is okay. But it feels like every chapter she's crying. Don't stone me, i just dont like h like that.

Carson didn't do it for me either. He was sweet then mad the sweet again. I don't know what to make of his character.

I had to DNF @ 60%.
This book had zero romance, awful storyline with
young & immature characters. A teenage girl working in a strip club because she was kicked out of her house and becomes pregnant just doesn’t appeal to me.

It was ok. It didn't feel real to me like some books can.

Once again a Kirsty Mosley book made me pull an all nighter because I just could not stop reading. And is was soooo worth it. As soon as I finished it I wanted to re read it again because I was that bummed it was over. Right from the first few pages I knew I was in for another addictive great read by Kirsty. The story starts off with Emma, almost 19, working in a gentlemens club. That's not all though, she is a student and is responsible for 2 other people. Talk about pressure. You get a backstory as to what got her in that situation and you can't help but feel for her. She doesn't deserve to be judged. She does what she has to for other people and that right there is very selfless and admirable about a character. I was shocked she started working there underage though. It isn't long when she started working that she meets Carson. Out celebrating his birthday, you can tell right away he likes her. He comes back just to see her. Even after he starts making it big as a pro motorbike racer, it doesn't change him. They continue to see each other (only at the club) for 3yrs. Emma has always loved him right from the start. It's in the present when he seems to be trying to pursue her harder and outside of the club. Little does Carson know, Emma is hiding something big She has a huge secret from him though and even though I agree with her reasons.....I was on edge wondering how and when the secret would come out. When alls revealed it was chaotic. Carson did a 180 personality wise and got nasty. It was heart breaking. From then on the story was even more captivating. I wanted the happy sweet Carson back, but the anger from the secret took its toll on him for a bit. It doesn't take long for the real Carson to show again. A lot of times you are also a bit frustrated with Emma since she is so oblivious to Carsons feelings, but with the way Kirsty writes her thoughts, you understand the way she interprets a lot of things Carson says and does. Emma has to deal with alot after the bombshell. She gets crucified by the press, his family, his fans, but Carson is right there trying to help her and you can tell he wants her to look at him the way she used to before all this. Emma hides her feelings for him but after a while things start to change between them and the get closer again. Towards the end you find out some things about Carson that just make you love him even more. He isn't the cliche playboy the press makes him out to be. I loved everything about this story. Love both main characters. Love the drama. It was just such and addictive story line, you will struggle to stop after any chapter. Though the epilogue still had me wanting more, maybe we may see them again if Emma's younger brother gets a story? I liked him he was a good kid and loved his sister. This story is definitely not one I will forget and will enjoy re reading multiple times.

Carson and Emma met at a Gentlemen's Club where he was celebrating his birthday. He was then an upcoming MotoGP circuit driver and she was a waitress and part time lap dancer. After that first meeting, Carson would regularly visit the club every week for three years. She watched him become successful and famous. Carson having feelings for her, in Emma's opinion, was a warped fairy tale dream.

Emma was such a strong character for someone so young. The depth of her maturity in facing difficulties and her willingness to take on responsibilities was astounding. She was willing to sacrifice in order for the person she loved live his dream.

Carson was such a sweet guy. Though their interactions were always in Emma's place of work, she wasn't just a lap dancer to him. His gestures and actions showed otherwise. I loved how he would ask her for secret words she wanted him to say while he was being interviewed so she would know he was thinking about her, and he would say it no matter how ridiculous it was. He was thoughtful, affectionate, caring.. all the qualities you wanted in an ideal boyfriend.

Why he didn't make their relationship official? I will let the book clear that up for you.

Emma never allowed herself to believe Carson would feel something for her. Like the title suggests, they were poles apart. He was famous and had a bright future. She was barely getting by sending herself to school and responsible for two people in her life. She carried the stigma of being a girl who danced for money in a club that she was impervious to his gestures and obvious concern for her. Plus, she had a secret. A secret that blew in her face in the most public way possible.

There were parts that frustrated me, especially how Emma seemed so clueless about Carson's feelings for her. But all in all, it was a sweet story. It had the same winning formula as the author's other books.
